Looney Tunes
Daffy Duck
Ever wonder why Daffy is so jealous of Bugs? Well prior to Bugs’ rise to popularity, Daffy was Warner Bros biggest star. When Bugs started becoming popular, the animators started making Daffy a sidekick or competitive character. Of the major Warner Brother characters Daffy is the 2nd oldest. The oldest character is Porky Pig. Bugs Bunny was 3rd, and Foghorn Leghorn was much later. g g
Eh, what’s up, Doc? This year is Bugs Bunny’s 75th birthday! How does a wascally wabbit celebrate his birthday? We’re not too sure, but it will likely involve missing that left turn at Albuquerque. Bugs has appeared in more than 200 cartoons, tons of animated movies along with commercials, was the second animated character to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was the first to appear on a postage stamp! To celebrate his birthday, we dug out a ton of facts about Daffy, Elmer, Sam, Wile and Tweety. Happy birthday, Bugs! Anyone who doesn’t love you by now is just a “maroon”.
Tweety Bird In the beginning, Tweety was pink. He was also named Orson. His first appearance was in the 1942 cartoon A Tale of Two Kitties, in which he showed down two hungry cats named Babbit and Catstello. In his second short, Birdy and the Beast, he was named Tweety; the yellow feathers were drawn on later in response to criticism of the originally naked bird. Did you know that Tweety is a boy?
Elmer Fudd Elmer Fudd made his debut in 1940 through the cartoon Elmer’s Candid Camera. He goes to the countryside to take photographs of the wildlife. He tries to photograph Happy Rabbit, now known as Bugs Bunny, but Happy Rabbit decides it is really fun to harass Elmer and be a nuisance. It’s no wonder Elmer Fudd is always trying to catch Bugs. Did you know that you can set your Google language as 'Elmer Fudd'! Dis way aww yo seawch wesults wiww wook wike dis! Some other fun language settings are: ‘Pirate’, ‘Hacker’, and ‘Bork, bork, bork’ (the language of the Swedish chef from the Muppets).
Bugs Bunny Bugs first appeared in a cartoon called "A Wild Hare" on July 27, 1940. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bugs is a world traveller, always taking the wrong turn, he has been to Albuquerque, the Himalayas and the Antarctica. Did you know that 'Nimrod' became a synonym for idio idiot thanks to Bugs? In one of the Looney Tunes cartoons, B Bugs refers to Elmer Fudd as 'a nimrod.' Year later, the term is now used as a synonym for idiot or stupid. When Bugs was first created, he didn’t have a name, so they just referred to him as the “happy rabbit”. He H later went through numerous redesign redesigns and became the Bugs we know today. today Is Bugs a rabbit or a hare? Bugs is a rabbit, hares don’t live in burrows, r rabbits do.
Foghorn Leghorn Ever wonder about that song Foghorn likes so much ("Doo dah, doo dah")? It's called De Camptown Races. He also sings, Old MacDonald, A Hunting We Will Go, This is the Way We Wash Our Clothes and Oh Doggie.

Will E. Coyote
In 1980, in an episode titled Soup or Sonic, Wile finally catches the Road Runner. He then holds up a sign saying, “Okay, wise guys, you always wanted me to catch him. Now what do I do?” This was because in this case, Wile E. Coyote had shrunk, and had now caught a giant Road Runner. Did you know that Wile E. Coyote could talk? He usually speaks by holding up signs. However, in some cartoons, he can actually talk. He has a British accent and he refers to himself as “Wile E. Coyote: Super Genius”. Ever wonder what the E stands for in Wile E. Coyote? Ethelbert.
Gossamer
Did you ever wonder about the big, orange monster that chases Bugs Bunny and wears sneakers? Well, this character’s official name is “Gossamer”. He was previously called Rudolph.
Road Runner
The Road Runner was created in 1949 and appeared in Fast and Furry-ous. Did you know that his original name was Texas Road Burner. He was introduced by this name by the announcer for a race against Speedy Gonzales in The Wild Chase.

4 An 8-Legged Egg-topus Puppet!! How many of you have ever seen disposable egg cartons? Since we only go to the grocery store and pick up as many eggs as we need, few kids get the chance to enjoy the creative crafts we can do using the empty egg cartons. And here’s ToffeeTV’s Ayesha Mehmood showing you how to create an 8-legged Octopus, or an Egg-topus out of an empty carton of eggs!
Instructions:
Supplies needed:
• Cut two “cups” out of the disposable egg carton. These will become the body of our octopus, as shown in Figure 1. • Next, take two pipe cleaners and cut them into 8 equal pieces. These will become the legs of the Octopus, as shown in Figure 2. • Then, take one cup and glue all eight legs as shown in Figure 3. • Carefully cut a hole on that piece you glued the legs, and pass a fishing string through the hole as shown in Figure 4(a) and (b). • Now glue the other cup, to the cup having legs as shown in Figure 5. • Next, paint the octopus. Don’t forget to give it eyes and a mouth as shown in Figure 6.
• An empty egg carton • Glue • Fishing string • Pipe Cleaners • Paints and a paintbrush
There! Your octopus puppet, or 8-legged Eggtopus is ready! Enjoy! 1

Lego to the museum! A US artist has taken Lego brick building to another level after showcasing his stunning collection of colourful sculptures. Nathan Sawaya has a passion for creating awe-inspiring works of art out of some of the most unlikely things, although toy Lego pieces appears to be his favourite working material. His Art of the Brick show opened at the Times Square’s Discovery museum this week, featuring over 100 of his sculptures. ‘I am honoured to announce that The Art of the Brick is coming to the heart of New York City,’ he said. ‘This will be my largest showing of artwork to date; in fact, it will be the largest solo display of Lego art ever assembled. ‘Since New York is my hometown, I have some very exciting surprises in store and have created several brand-new, never-been-seen pieces for this exhibition.’ The 39-year-old spends up to three weeks creating the life-size sculptures, with each one made from between 15,000 to 25,000 bricks. Today, Sawaya has more than 2.5 million coloured bricks in his New York and Los Angeles art studios after he started using Lego for his artwork after leaving college. METRO.CO.UK
Mistaken identity Meet the ridiculously cute new police recruit ready to tackle crime on the mean streets of Shanghai, China. This baby raccoon dog was rescued by officers after being mistaken for a bear cub in an adorable case of mistaken identity. The animal, which is indigenous to East Asia, was spotted wandering around a shocked Shanghai resident’s back garden before the man alerted authorities. Police officer Li Wenyue responded to the call and later took the cooperative raccoon dog into custody, finding it a temporary shoebox home back at the station. Spotting the youngster’s star potential, officer Wenyue posted several pictures of the raccoon, dressed in a police uniform, online. She was later contacted by a local forestry worker who informed her that the ‘cub’ was in fact a different animal all together. The baby raccoon has since been taken in by the forestry department and will be released back into the wild when it is old enough. DAILYMAIL.CO.UK
Onwards to Battle! When his guinea pig Lucky didn’t wake up from his nap, Sean McCoy was left with a broken heart and an empty custom mini-suit of armour. But one man’s misfortune may just be another man’s treasure as McCoy is putting Lucky’s chain mail and helmut up for sale. Is your pet guinea pig tired of wandering around the house unarmored and vulnerable?,” reads the eBay description. “Do they get picked on by other guinea pigs? Has your guinea pig ever wanted to go with you to a Renaissance Faire but had nothing to wear? Fear not! A solution is here!” While the mini-suit of armour is incredibly cool, Lucky didn’t seem to think so. The guinea pig only wore it once for a photo shoot, according to McCoy in an interview. But hopefully another miniature creature will love it more than Lucky did. ANDPOP.COM

Extreme shampooing
The line ‘sorry, I’m washing my hair…’ is one of the least convincing excuses people trot out. But for one man, it’s a genuine explanation for his wacky antics. Jim Chapman is fast becoming the head and shoulders of a new craze that is set to sweep Britain – extreme shampooing. Letting his hair down in the most bizarre locations, the 25-year-old has already cleaned his locks on top of the country’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and ducked his head in the Thames while on a power boat travelling at 40mph. His hair-washing highjinks has also seen him lather up with the help of a fireman’s hose – a high-pressure blast that is ten times stronger than the average shower. And he even stood under the torrent of Britain’s highest, unbroken waterfall – Hardraw Force in the Yorkshire Dales. The waterfall sees 45,500 litres (10,000 gallons) cascade down the 31m (100ft) drop every minute. HUFFINGTONPOST.CO.UK
It’s a bird...it’s a plane... it’s a flying bike? Two British designers have unveiled the world’s first flying bicycle, which they claim will revolutionise the way we travel. The XploreAir ‘Paravelo’ takes off from any open space and once airborne it flies at 25mph for up to three hours at a time, propelled by a fan using a biofuel 249cc motor and parachute. Yannick Read and John Foden’s XploreAir X1 can reach altitudes of 4,000 ft but doesn’t require a special licence to operate. The lightweight design folds to a size small enough to carry into a house or apartment for storage. In order to fly, the bike docks with its trailer, a flexible wing is unfurled and an electric starter motor gets the fan going. The pair say: ‘The Paravelo is aimed at those who have a thirst for adventure, but are without, perhaps, the storage space or bank balance to accommodate a helicopter. ABCNEWS.GO.COM
Do the Twist! Another month, another new landmark for Dubai. Following on from the recent opening of Dubai Miracle Garden, billed as the world’s biggest natural flower garden, the launch of Dubai Design District and the release of plans to build an underwater hotel in the area, the city has now inaugurated Cayan Tower, the world’s tallest twisted tower. Located by Dubai Marina, the 75-storey building rises to a height of 1,010ft and houses 495 apartments. The swerve of the structure will mean residents in the lower part of the tower will find their view oriented towards the waterfront promenade of Dubai Marina; those on the upper floors are rotated to face the Persian Gulf. s n i g i r O d r o W OK Did you know that ‘OK’ stands for ‘oll korrect’. So how does that make any sense at all? In Boston and New York in 1839, slang abbreviations were really popular with the abbreviations often representing deliberately misspelled slang phrases like “KY” for “know yuse”; “OW” for “oll wright” (the predecessor of “oll korrect”); “KG” for “know go”; “NS” for “nuff said”; and many others. OK is one of the few of these abbreviations to survive. It managed to do so largely because it was used in a New York election campaign in 1840. The phrase “Okey-doke” first showed up in 1932 and originally came about as the English spelled OK “okie”. This was then brought back to America where Americans pronounced this version with a long e, giving rise to the rhyme. Greek immigrants to America who ended up returning to Greece were called by the Greece “okayboys”, due to the fact that they had picked up certain American speech mannerisms such as “OK”.
