How would you describe your body type? My body type is straight, which means I have to work really hard to keep a tiny waist. Has your body type changed over the last five years? It’s been a roller coaster ride for my body. I tend to go through weight fluctuation. Being a 5ft 7’’ fitness freak, who also happens to be a foodie, I’m shuffling between 52 to 57 kilos. But over time I’ve realised it’s harder for me to keep the pounds off. I have to be very mindful now. How has your style changed over the years? From being over the top with outfits, accessories, hair and Arabic style make-up, I’ve transitioned into a more casual style. With blow dried hair and natural make-up I would go for comfy tights or pants and my best add on would be a watch if I’m feeling fancy. Comfort is my motto now! In your opinion what is your most troublesome area? It would be my face! It’s chubbier compared to the rest of my body. There’s nothing wrong with that, but for me personally I do feel more comfortable when I don’t have chubby cheeks or a double chin. How do you dress your body according to your body type? I emphasise on my long legs and defined shoulders. So I avoid wearing anything that loses the shape of my body or very high necks. Pants, jeans or tights paired with a top that shows off a bit of my décolletage and long neck, are ideal for me. They balance out my chubby cheeks. In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here? That would have to be following any latest trend blindly, without keeping your body type, age and personality in mind. Having a personal style in harmony with the hottest trends is crucial. Never lose yourself. Which silhouettes suit your body the most? Fitted or long and draped silhouettes. Baggy and loose silhouettes are not me for me. What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why? Halter necks, turtle necks, and high necks. Anything too close to my face!

BEAUTY
THE NOTEPAD Healthy hair is a combination of small daily adjustments in diet and care! The brains behind Zonano’s hair oil gives us tips on how to take care of your lock for healthy shiny hair! Essential Oils A few drops of essential oils into your favourite oil base can add extra oomph into your oiling routine! Not only does each essential oil come with its own benefits (which you can choose according to your hair problem) but they help mask the smell of oil so many of us dread!
Hair Loss Due To Bad Diet And Stress Junk food, including sodas and sugary items can lead to hair fall while a healthy diet including milk, eggs and spinach promote hair growth. Additionally, emotional and physiological distress can cause sudden and heavy hair fall! It’s important to get basic tests done in order to determine any deficiencies since no amount of oil can replace healthy and happy nutrients!
Give Your Shampoo A Day Off If you have extra-dry hair, skip shampoo and try co-washing or washing your hair with only conditioner (silicone free) once a week, or as often as needed to prevent dry hair. If your hair lacks oil or moisture, you don’t need to shampoo as often.
Oils > Serum Instead of putting hair products that sit in your hair temporarily (eg. serum), oils have the ability to penetrate the hair’s cuticle and actually make it healthier. Coconut oil has shown to protect against bleach, heat, and UV damage in a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science. Regular massaging can help reduce dandruff in your scalp as a dry scalp is the main cause of chronic dandruff. The various fatty acids present in coconut oil acts as anti-dandruff agents.
Ditch The Towel Who reaches for the towel the minute they step out of the shower? The next easy fix in your daily routine is to ditch that towel! Towel drying is extremely rough on your hair and can lead to breakage. Instead, gently squeeze your hair with a soft towel, or even better, air-dry your hair and then comb it with a wide-toothed comb to remove excess water.
Understand The Correct Water Temperature For Your Hair Water temperature probably isn’t high on your list of priorities when it comes to haircare but in reality, it’s a simple trick that can transform your hair. Start your shower with lukewarm water (avoid hot water) but douse your hair with cold water at the very end. Lukewarm water removes product build up and dirt, but at the end, rinse with cool water to add shine, seal in moisture and prevent frizz — which helps your hair look shiny and healthy.
Aggressive Brushing = Excessive Hair Fall When brushing your hair, always start at the ends and work your way up to the roots. Applying oil right before showering is an effective way of untangling your locks whereas brushing wet hair is your biggest enemy! Brush your hair only once, maximum twice, a day. Over-brushing pulls out hair that isn’t ready to fall out, often breaks healthy hair, and scratches the scalp.
Post-Partum Hair Fall Is Normal Don’t let postpartum hair fall bother you, this is normal and will subside as the weeks go by. The hair loss can seem more extreme if your hair grew more than normal during pregnancy, or if you have long hair. Most women will return to their usual hair growth cycle within six months, or between six to 12 months after giving birth. Keeping your hair moist post pregnancy is very important. Use our hair oil to reduce postpartum hair fall and thank us later!

INTERVIEW
What did you think of Parchi’s script when you first read it? Hareem: I was part of the whole development process of the script. When I first read it, I thought it was a very different concept and we had to make it work. Ali: When I was reading Parchi’s script for the first time, I laughed hysterically and I was completely immersed in it with a smile on my face throughout. I just knew that I had to do this movie as soon as I read the script, and I am happy that I got the opportunity to do such an amazing film. How would you describe your character in the film? Hareem: My character is a street smart girl called Eman. She might be bad-ass, but she also has a feminine side to her. She might be hard on the surface, but she really cares about people, and is a softie at heart. Ali: My character’s name is Bash - he is a con-man who has grown up on the streets so he is very street-smart. He knows what he wants, he is selfish, plays by his own rules, and does not have much regard for other people. But at the same time, he has a nice side to him that he doesn’t want JANUARY 7-13 2018

people to see. So I would say, it is a very complex, layered, three-dimensional character. How is Parchi different from other comedies? Hareem: It is quite different because I haven’t seen similar characters in Pakistani cinema yet. It is a situational comedy which also has not been shown much so far on screen. Ali: Parchi is very different from other comedies because it has 14 new faces from theatre. It is a situational comedy and the subject-matter has never been dealt with before. It has a strong female lead and the movie depicts female empowerment; the likes of which Pakistani cinema has not seen before. Hareem is not playing a typical damsel in distress who barely has scenes in the movie and is side-lined. It is very progressive and has an edge over other films as we are showing a strong female character at the forefront. me, every character I play makes me a better actor. What can we expect from your characters in the movie? Hareem: You can expect different characters, laughter, emotions, a bit of drama and action. Ali: You can expect a lot of laughter! You honestly won’t know where time went. You will be thoroughly entertained, and come out of the cinema with a smile, wanting to watch it again for sure. Parchi is the first film in Pakistan in which the protagonist is a female. How did you prepare for the role? Hareem: I think every character that you do is a part of your learning process. You need to learn from the mistakes you make in order to make yourself better. For

How have your characters strengthened you as actors? Hareem: When I see myself on-screen, I am very critical about myself and I take notes from relevant people to ensure I can strengthen myself and act even better next time. Ali: It does strengthen you as an actor because you are in that role all the time. You become aware of things you might not know before, you start thinking in different ways. You start thinking about your character, and this helps you to open up as an actor, and it also leads you to places you never thought you would go. It also depends on how strong the actor is and if he is able to shape the character, so it’s basically a give and take relationship. The
character and actor both have to co-exist. What’s the one trait your character has you wish you had too? Hareem: One trait I wish I had from my character is how to shoot a gun! Ali: To be honest, there is no trait in the character that I wish I had! How has it been working alongside each other? Hareem: It has been a pleasure and a learning experience because when you have really good actors working with you, you get to learn a lot. I have worked with Ali Rehman before and Osman Khalid Butt is also a very old friend, and even the new actors were a complete delight to work with. Overall, it has been an amazing experience. Ali: The experience has been phenomenal because we had a great team. I’ve known Hareem for a long time and we have also worked together before so it does become easier to work. You need to have that creative energy when you are working together day and night and Hareem along with the team had that. You need to understand each other and know how the other person works, and let the other person’s creative ideas flow, and tune yourself accordingly. Even the rest of the team had that tuning as we all listened to each other. I believe even the smallest ideas can be huge sometimes so it had always been a creative atmosphere on the sets.
Ali: There were too many memorable moments! I don’t think I can sum it up in a few lines. One thing your fans don’t know about you? Hareem: One thing my fans don’t know about me is that I am a bathroom singer. Ali: One fact that my fans do not know about me is that I am an extremely shy person. A character from any movie you wish you could play? Hareem: I would love to play Kareena Kapoor’s character from Jab We Met and also Wonder Woman! Ali: One character that I would really love to play is my childhood super-hero, Superman! Are there any exciting projects in the pipeline for you? Hareem: A lot of acting projects coming up in 2018. I have been working on my next film too, but I cannot reveal much at the moment, but there is a lot in store for my fans! Ali: There are a few exciting projects in the pipeline. I am waiting for it to materialise so that I can share it with everyone.
Any memorable moments while shooting the movie? Hareem: I don’t remember one specific memory as we constantly had a lot of fun on-set, and I cannot handpick one moment that was hilarious. They celebrated my birthday on-set which was a big surprise for me and that is very memorable for me.

Neha Javed Blogger, Stylist and Brand Manager Zari Faisal I love this cape and wanted to style it in a way that makes it stand out. I opted for a formal look and wore it with my purple boot cut pants and a white basic top. I went for denim heels, a black metallic clutch and big hoops to add that glam factor. Such an easy piece to style!

Gulzaib Shakeel Writer and Blogger I love ghararas and am always finding new ways to wear them! I wore the cape over a short A-line shirt and a plain white gharara. Despite the gharara being such an unusual bottom, the hero of the outfit is still the cape because of how the colour stands out against the whites inside. Last but not the least; I went for matching khussas to complete my look.
