WITH MAHWISH AZIZ
Fabulous chef and the brains behind Sugaries Bakery, Mahwish A z i z , b re a k s down her busy schedule for us
5am:
10am:
Dead to the world.
This is probably the best time of the day for me. I enter work hoping it’s a smooth day and everything’s under control but... that’s just a thought really!
7am: The dreams continue and my first alarm goes off.
11am: 8am: Wake up and call the bakery hoping all my staff is in and no one’s sick! Haha.
Rounds of the kitchen begin, where I check each and every item, yup I do that! Sometimes possibly have a cup of kadak chai with the staff and take daily updates. Bake the goodies required and then return to my own kitchen.
9am: Have my cup of coffee and watch my Indian TV show without which I refuse to work haha.
12pm: This is my peace time. I prep for a private or group classes
SEPTEMBER 17-23 2017

and it’s really just me and my studio and usually me humming random sounds in my head..yup it’s weird.
1pm: I’m still in the kitchen (guys baking takes time hahah) and it’s possibly my only time where all my people know that they really shouldn’t disturb me, but I still have that one person who’s calling or coming to my studio and asking questions!
2pm: I wind up and go home where my sister’s babies are over and I just have play time with them. Meanwhile, I get calls from customers and potential customers, and at times angry customers because come on, not everything is perfect!
3pm:
8pm:
Usually just browsing social media. Pinterest and and Instagram are my faves! For some reason I have more beauty bloggers on my Instagram than chefs which is funny, but I just sit and admire these women who do this. Being in the kitchen I’m usually smelling like butter at this point.
Dinner and then usually just meet up with a friend for tea or coffee or something. Could be a movie or just something to relax and unwind. I love hanging with my sister so it’s usually with her and the kids on some days and others at home.
10pm: 4pm: I go for a quick workout, usually to burn off the thousands of calories my body intakes every day, but it’s really just me time also so it’s nice.
This is the time..(wait for it!) On a good day I dance to Indian music for a while hahaha.
11pm: I literally just chill like a boss until I fall asleep.
5pm: Shower and get back to the shop. If it’s a really slow day, I can afford to just relax, but that barely ever happens.
6pm: I’m back at the bakery and I love dealing with my customers and getting first-hand feedback so this is the time where I deal with them and potentially have some walk-ins to discuss their wedding cakes or dessert tables.
7pm: Potentially everyday and I mean every day I plan to go buy clothes or do some retail therapy, but I end up going home and getting in my pj’s, spend some time with the family who are usually complaining about how busy I am haha.

WITH SAMAVI HASSAN
FASHION
Resident fashionista and Creative Head at Kokab Zia, Samavi Hassan decodes her style. From how to dress for your body type to what to avoid when dressing, she shares it all Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
SEPTEMBER 17-23 2017
54
How would you describe your body type? Petite. Has your body type changed over the last five years? I feel like my physique has pretty much remained the same over the past few years. I’ve always been on the leaner side. How has your style changed over the years? My style is constantly evolving as I try to keep up with the ongoing trends. However, I stay true to my chic yet minimalistic style. In your opinion what is your most troublesome area? I feel like my legs are too skinny! Haha How do you dress your body according to your body type? I usually go for more structured and tapered cuts. Though, I honestly don’t overthink when it comes to my everyday style. Whatever looks good and feels comfortable, I go for it. In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here? Wearing everything that you own. Sometimes simplicity goes a long way. Which silhouettes suit your body the most? As I’ve mentioned earlier, straighter and longer silhouettes suit my body type the most. What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why? I don’t think I shy away from any specific piece of clothing. One should be confident in everything they wear.

FASHION
THE NOTEPAD Fashion Marketing Manager at Daraz.pk and uber talented stylist, Alishay Adnan gives away seven valuable style tips to make sure you dress to impress
Alter your clothes Nothing raises the quality of apparel more than having them altered to suit your shape. Make friends with a good tailor so that your article looks like it’s made for you!
Revamp your wardrobe You should be able to see every item at all times. Consider donating anything you haven’t worn in the past year – you are probably never going to wear it!
Get a shoe height In order to achieve the perfect length for your pants, make sure they are the right length for your shoes. Your bottoms will elongate your legs when you leave some space between your hem and your shoe.
Layer your necklaces Try layering multiple necklaces anytime you’re stuck with a basic outfit. You’ll be surprised by how it’ll elevate your look! Coco Chanel’s moreis-more approach still makes a statement today.
Spend on accessories A closet with the right little extras lets you be more playful and creative with your outfits.
Be experimental Always take one “it’s cute but not me” article into the fitting room. You never know!
Own a styling emergency kit • Double-stick tape for loose hems or a gaping bodice. • Safety pins for allover damage control. • Make-up sponge for removing deodorant stains. SEPTEMBER 17-23 2017

La Soirèe La Soirèe, is a perfect encapsulation of the ‘Roaring Twenties’- a time period that indicates a departure from tradition and a greater association with modernity. Thus, it is a quintessential representation of Shehla Chatoor’s couture which revolves around the mingling of old world charm and contemporary glamour. We have infused the dominant and transforming fashion and design elements primarily through our colour palette that focuses on transitional shades such as rose pink, champagne gold and opal. This collection sways from our typical couture and infuses art deco accents and heavy embellishments and beaded fringes. Rest assured, the intricacy and richness associated with Shehla Chatoor’s couture is not only dominant but amplified in this collection.
