Jul 23–Aug 22
Business matters seem to be under a fortunate star now for you. You can expect to make some real progress materially, socially and intellectually. It's best to stay indoors today however because the planets indicate a very low-key period for the next day or two. This is an opportunity for you to contemplate where you want to be and do some soul searching. You may have troubles with a sibling or neighbour. Be gentle in telling them how you feel, otherwise this could explode into a full blown argument.
A friend may invite you to travel but your work commitments may not allow you the freedom you'd like. You have a renewed appetite for work at the moment so you may as well go for it with all your might. Although malefic planets have been causing troubles you'll get through this, so stick to it. A love affair may be on your mind and could distract you today.
SAGITTARIUS Nov 23–Dec 21 You'll be feeling abstract today. Unless you can connect with someone who has an eclectic mind and is interested in mentally traveling to unusual places with you it's best to keep to yourself. You have strong feelings but may also be frustrated by Saturn. Use these energies constructively rather than feeling thwarted. You'll produce something wonderful.

Aug 23–Sept 22
Dec 22–Jan 20
Your wheeling and dealing skills are great now and some lucky breaks will come your way. But learn to know how and when to recognise them as you may miss them through inattentiveness. You shouldn't let an incompatible philosophy ruin a possible breakthrough on issues of intimacy with someone. Put aside your personal beliefs and accept each other for who you are.
Unusual people will be part of your life now and your popularity will be strong when you least expect it. You'll seem to be more in demand and this has everything to do with your forceful and vibrant personality. You'll be riding the wave of social popularity once Saturn exits Scorpio very soon. Enjoy it as much as you can.
GEMINI
LIBRA
AQUARIUS
May 22–Jun 21
Sept 23–Oct 23
Your impulses are going to be strong today, so try to understand your motivation for doing things. Self-containment can provide you with great power. You could be receiving some extra special treatment from others today, and you will be wondering why. No need to question it; just enjoy it.The ultimate mysteries of life and death take on greater importance now. Sex and healing are manifestations that play a bigger role in your life now. Taxes, investments, and other financial ties or obligations grab your attention.
You'll make a mistake if you are too emotional about money right you'll make a mistake just now. If impulse is part of the mix, you may get taken for a ride by a fast -talking salesman. You need to be stricter in dishing out privileges to those who may be working underneath you. They will take advantage of you if you are not firmer. You find yourself other-oriented just now, with many thoughts and ideas for partnership, rather than doing things alone. Friends may find you less self-centered than usual however, you may experience opposition to the way you present yourself.
CANCER Jun 22–Jul 22 An emphasis on close relationships and a preoccupation with ideas of fairness and harmony are part and parcel of the mental cycle you've just begun. The intellectual and communicative talents of those close to you take on greater importance: any shortcomings of this kind stick out like a sore thumb. You need some fun now for a contrast - even if its only every couple of weeks or so.
5 | Etsians.com | Junly/August 2015
You may revisit your past or someone from your past may make contact with you at this time. This should be fun but it may not be a relationship that will continue. You?re changing your patterns of thinking regarding money, and this is a good thing just now. Curtailing extraneous expenditure will help you save money.Education, advertising and travel could play a part in this. Law and philosophy and/or religion have greater potential to impact on your lifestyle.
Jan 21–Feb 18 You must let your strength shine forth because this will be a source of comfort and inspiration to others. You could however be extremely irritable and this has to do with playing the money game. Your sexual life will be bright. Making your mark on the world has special significance for you now too. Achievement, ambition, and authority: these things take on greater importance. Organizing and administering people and projects will become central to your lifestyle.
SCORPIO
PISCES
Oct 24–Nov 22
Feb 19–Mar 20
Ambitious schemes and the pursuit of success and status take on a high priority now. This brings a focus on the practical, the successful, the pragmatic - whatever it takes to get you ahead in the long run. The meek may inherit the earth, but the shrewd will collect the rent.
You could attract some rather key people into your life and this could come about due to the high-pressure situation in which you're involved. You could be running away from the situation rather than facing up to it fairly and squarely. You should add strength of character, ambition and a reflection of your character in your home environment. You need to feel comfortable in your home.

Beadtography | www.Beadtography.etsy.com
Meet Rebecca & Peter Beadtography is the creative collaboration of Rebecca and Peter Khalil, a husband and wife duo. We create original Braille Art, Photography, and Beaded Jewelry. Peter is the photographer in our collaboration, and he has a unique perspective on perception and photography, as his vision has undergone a number of changes over the course of his life - his photography strives to capture images the way he has seen the world at various points, including now that he has undergone a corneal transplant, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. Rebecca is the bead fanatic and is the creator of Beadtography's beaded jewelry (including our braille jewelry), as well as the one responsible for planning and incorporating beadwork into Peter's photography to emphasize elements of the photographs, or to incorporate poetry or prose in braille. Even before she met and married Peter, Rebecca had been connected to the world of the blind and visually impaired as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs of America and other organizations doing similar work for over 20 years (and convinced Peter to start puppy-raising in 2011, as well). We hope you love our art as much as we do!
Wood Worx Designs | www.woodworxdesigns.etsy.com
Meet Jennifer Wood Worx Designs specializes in hand painted wooden designs to delight children and adults alike. I am proud to offer a wide variety of stools, jewelry boxes, wall hangings, and hand painted home décor that focuses on whimsical original designs and functionality. My shop came about in the summer of 2013 after I received such great responses on items I was making for my young son. After that I decided to take a leap and branch out to share all my wooden creations with the world. Please feel free to stop by our Etsy page and see all we have to offer!!
Shari's Threads | www.sharisthreads.etsy.com
Meet Sharon My name is Sharon Rodriguez. My Etsy shop is Shari's Threads. I have always loved sewing from the time I was about thirteen. Throughout my high school years, I kept up with it, but I think my love for sewing grew when I got my first embroidery machine in my twenties. It was so much fun to embroider! My business was born when I needed a gift for my sister's wedding, but didn't have much money. So I made her a set of pillowcases with her monogram on them. It was so exciting that I had a gift, and an idea for my business! Since then, I have added many items to my shop: embroidered tote bags, diaper bags, doll stroller seats, and personalized placemats, table runners, and pillows. I'm very excited to share my shop with you and I hope you enjoy my work!
LoveLeeLunacy | www.LoveLeeLunacy.etsy.com
Meet Savanna I have always had an obsession with recycling. It amazed me how many wonderfully useful things people around me tossed away everyday. I kept a secret stash of everything. Empty containers, clothes, broken jewelry, bottle caps, and lots of neat random junk I found along the way. My treasure stash grew and grew, yet I had no idea what I was going to do with all this awesome stuff. I started making jewelry and other things for myself at first. When I noticed others had an interest, I started giving it away as gifts. It was so satisfying to bring joy to others with my eco-friendly creations. Before long I was doing custom projects for paying customers, and someone said to me, "You should make an Etsy Shop." Thus, I discovered the wonderful world of Etsy and have been able to share my treasures with people all over this beautiful planet.
GR8BYZ | www.gr8byz.etsy.com
Meet Lynn My name is Lynn and I am the owner of gr8byz - I am married with two children. I am a type 1 diabetic and wear a couple medical devices to help me along. I started to sell my wares as a way to try to help defray medical cost of my supplies- once I started I was hooked. I fell in love with creating and I am always trying to create a unique piece. I work with all types of materials. I make jewelry, Holiday items, home décor, wood carved items, handbags, Rosaries, belt buckles and much more. I love to recycle items as well. you can see one of my recycled items above - I use all kinds of wire and pieces parts. All of my items are handmade and include my heart and soul.

AnimalFancy | www.AnimalFancy.etsy.com
Meet Donna I found myself, for the first time in my life, in a situation where I was unable to have a pet. This was culture shock for me as I had spent my life with many beloved pets while also rescuing and rehabilitating anything with four legs and fur, both wild and domestic. So, in 2011, I decided to create my own animal family when a friend told me about Etsy. My deep love for animals compelled me to give each one of my creations a name, which further inspired me to create a world within my Animal Fancy shop. The world of "Fancyville," where all things are possible. Each "character" in my shop has a specific role in the virtual community that is filled with magic, comedy, compassion, dreams, and wishes. Eirwen, for example, has magical powers that create beautiful snow swirls where she puts on a show like no other. Quite the showgirl, she is. I so enjoy creating my art and sharing the joy that animals bring to the lives of people all over the world. I am grateful for the Etsy platform and hope anyone reading this takes a few minutes to visit my whimsical anthropomorphic world!
Piccola Pianta | www.PiccolaPianta.etsy.com
Meet Toni Hi! My name is Toni and I am Pianta's shop owner! My boyfriend Steve is the inspiration behind my shop! I started making terrariums two years ago after Steve was visiting his family in Boston and saw one he loved in a store. He called me and told me he'd like to make one for his apartment. I kind of put it on the back burner until we were out on one of our weekend adventures in Montauk, NY. We were walking on the beach when we started gathering beautiful shells, rocks and seaglass. We spent the day collecting and looking at our beach treasures. When we got home Steve surprised me with a terrarium making class. I learned how to make my very own beautifully bottled landscapes and made him the one he wanted! Our hobby soon became a side job and people were admiring my terrariums and placing custom orders daily. I began teaching DIY a Terrarium Workshops at local bars, bookstores, cafés and West Elm! I love what I do and I am so happy to be able to sell some of my work in my shop on Etsy.

Meet Healani
Meet Sara
Short stack is a children's t-shirt line created by two moms living in Hawaii. Short stacks tees show the aloha spirit for life and is a constant reminder to be fun. The apparel is neutral gender based which allows the possibilities of fashion creativity to be endless. Main thing we want to express to our children is to be happy with who they are and allow their inner artist to shine daily.
Designed and produces in Montreal, Canada in silversmith Samantha Burnstein. Hailing from a family of artist, Samantha inherited a passion for art and culture. From a young age she immersed herself in her two creative loves, art and dance. Training from a young age in both these disciplines led to her graduating from Canterbury arts high school, a diploma in jewelry and silversmithing from EMSOM, as well as a bachelors degree in anthropology from Concordia University. Samantha went on to pursue a career as a dance and dance ethnologist, all the while continuing to make jewelry. Sara Mali designs are inspired by ethic jewelry, traditional costuming and adornment from around the world, my designs reflect Samantha's years of cultural studies and passion for travel. The beauty of universal geometric designs, and especially motifs and textures of the Middle East and Africa, are the main muses. Each piece jewelry is in sterling silver with semi-precious stones and is meant to carry a story with it allowing the wearer to feel transported. Sara Mali uses traditional silversmithing techniques such as forging, engraving, hand stamping, to create one of a kind pieces, and limited series using casting methods. Samantha opened the Sara Mali Jewelry Etsy boutique in February of this year, and also sells as local crafts sales. You can find many of Sara Mali’s popular items in the Easy boutique and is looking forward to growing the collection in the coming year.

Back Yard Shopping Tips A First and foremost, you want to think about what you want the tone and/or theme you want for the room. Once you pick them, it then gets easier when it comes to picking the furniture and decor out. Basic tips: 1. Turn that plain wall into something elegant helps to bring the room out. 2. Furniture with history brings more charm to the room. 3. Colors do not have to match but the tones of the colors must collide well.
C
B D After you determine what colors you want to use for your outdoor space, you want to determine the amount of furniture you are able to fit. This depends on your square footage in your outdoor space. Its always helpful to draw your layout on a piece of paper to play around with where you would like to place your furniture. For the furniture above, we went with the rustic outdoor furniture (shown in C picture) and with that we wanted to have custom pillows that fit with our chosen colors. We also liked the idea of having a cool hammock hair in our outdoor space. After you have your furniture picked out, you can then add cute decor outside; like plants, mason jar vases, etc. Get creative! A. B. C. D.

A mother and father to two children all while running a successful Etsy online shop. They shares their story & explains how they do it all. by Maylani Sayers
Everyone Meet… Naima & Steve The couple behind is Naima and Steve. A mother and father of two kids, husband and wife, and business owners. They gives us an exclusive look into their journey.
1
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am Steve Hageman and I am 36 years old, my wife is Naima Hageman and she is 30 years old. We both enjoy being home together to raise our children and working a job we love. Owning our own business and raising our children, all from our sunny Florida home. 2
Have you always loved creating things? or did it start off as a hobby
and grew into something you now love? To be honest I was never really crafty and neither was my wife, Naima. She did however enjoy playing around on Photoshop and eventually taught herself to design shirts with it.
17 | Etsians.com | July/August 2015
3
What inspired you to open your own
online shop? Me and my wife, Naima were wondering how we could start our own business , I was working at a gas station and it just wasn't cutting it, the income wasn’t good and i was not home enough. My wife stayed at home with our daughter at the time as a stay at home mom. We both love shirts and nice clothing so we decided to invest in a heat press and materials, after some brainstorming and of course some extended research. We figured that sometimes you have to take risks in life, sometimes you have to invest in something and see if it works out. If not, at least you tried, but there's always that chance that it will work out, we have been very lucky this far. 4 What made you choose Etsy? I had heard of Etsy being a great platform for handmade items. It is one of the biggest online platforms I know . I was attracted to it because of the large handmade market.
5 What was your first item you made? and what inspired you to make it? My wife, Naima, designed a shirt for our , then a few months old, daughter, I then pressed it with our new heat press and it came out perfect. We did a bunch of wash tests and the shirt held up great. 6
Have you ever felt discouraged when it came to your business? Of course, but instead of feeling down about it, we work harder and push ourselves harder. We started out small, it took us 2 years to get to build this big store and we are still creating new listings every week. July/August 2015 | Etsian.com | 18
13 | Etsians.com | April 2015
7
What kind of things did you do to get your name out there? We have been working really hard for the past 3 years . First of all we have over 1400 items in our store, this by itself gives us a lot of views and puts us 'out there'. We also promote every day on the Facebook promoting groups and renew about 15 of our listings a couple times a day. We try to post on our Facebook page frequently and upload new photos to Instagram when we can. We have a couple listings come up on the first page when you search Etsy for certain keywords, this gives us a lot of exposure.
8
When did you start to see your
shop take off? And how did it make you feel? After we had about 100 items in our store we started getting busier, the more items you have the busier you will be. Although we have been steady from the start, there are lots of women on Etsy , lots of mothers and even grandmother's to shop for their kids and grandkids, so etsy has exactly the buyers we need. We also worked on our SEO (search engine optimization ) and after that our shop started to see an increase in views and sales. It felt and feels awesome to have many daily sales , it feels like you actually get somewhere in life by making money, doing what we love and doing it for ourself and our family at times that are right for us. 21 | Etsians.com | July/August 2015

HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO JUGGLE YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE AND RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS? WHAT KIND OF ADVICE WOULD YOU SUGGEST TO OTHER FELLOW SHOP OWNERS WHO MAY HAVE A HARD TIME FIGURING IT OUT? After 2 years of having our Etsy shop we got to a point where we made so much income that I actually got to quit my full time job at a local gas station. My wife, Naima, needed me at home to help with our business, SweetTeez LLC. Now Naima and I are both home with our 2 kids ( 1 and 4 years old). Before I was working outside the home for 6 days a week , 12 hours a day. We do everything together as a family, Naima prints out all the orders and does all the computer work, while she does that , I take care of the kids, and when she is done, I then press the orders and package them at night. We have a great routine going and we are so thankful for our business that we are able to live our life this way.
July/August 2015 | Etsian.com | 22
10 WHAT KIND OF ADVICE WOULD YOU SUGGEST TO OTHER FELLOW SHOP OWNERS WHO MAY HAVE A HARD TIME FIGURING IT OUT?
10
Patience and determination is key. Work hard to create more listings, tweak your photos, try to be a little faster with answering a message. And don't forget your SEO. Keywords, tags and titles. It will take time, I see a lot of people, sellers, on Etsy get discouraged because they are not getting any sales, when I look at their store a lot of the times, I see less than 20 listings, dark and unappealing pictures , 3 word titles and so on. I cannot stress how important these 3 things are, SEO (tags, titles and descriptions), photos and the amount of listings you have. Try to put yourself in the buyers shoes.
