Accountancy A master’s degree in accounting opens the door to higher-level career opportunities, and ETSU’s Master of Accountancy (M.Acc) program better prepares students to become certified public accountants (CPA), certified management accountants (CMA), or certified internal auditors (CIA). Students in the M.Acc program may choose from four concentrations: AUDIT: The Audit concentration provides students with advanced knowledge of auditing standards, internal control, and financial regulations. Students are taught how to review, analyze and evaluate financial statements in order to provide useful and accurate information for investors and other decision makers. Graduates of the program emerge with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of professional ethics, and the ability to act with professional skepticism and due care. CONTROLLERSHIP: The Controllership concentration reflects the emerging role of accountants and financial professionals as key members of the management team in the corporate world. The concentration equips students with an understanding of financial reporting and advanced managerial accounting that can be applied in both the manufacturing and service sectors. Students will learn how to implement procedures such as capital and operational budgeting, principles of lean management, Six Sigma, cost of quality, software solutions to financial challenges, internal controls, and asset management. Students should graduate with a holistic understanding of financial leadership in the strategic and operational decision-making processes of an organization. GENERALIST: The Generalist concentration is great for a student who wants to try out a variety of options. Students will choose courses from each concentration that match their desired interests. Students who complete the generalist concentration will graduate with a broad array of skills that will enable them to pursue a variety of career paths. TAXATION: The Taxation concentration combines in-depth tax courses with foundational accounting courses to provide a balanced and thorough groundwork for a variety of career paths. The Taxation concentration provides M.Acc students with advanced tax knowledge and skills through both the study and practice of tax law. The core taxation courses focus on critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. Students should graduate fully equipped to transition into a career with a strong understanding of the tax system and an ability to apply it to personal and business tax preparation and planning.

ETSU’s College of Business and Technology offers three ways to obtain your master’s degree in business administration (MBA): • Traditional on-campus program • 18-month exclusively online program • 12-month accelerated program (AMBA) The Master in Business Administration program focuses on the organizational, financial and operational management of organizations from a local, regional and global perspective. The ETSU MBA and AMBA programs provide practical handson education that will enhance career options and opportunities. The MBA degree is suited for students or professionals across many career fields and is the key to success in both large and small organizations. Students in the traditional on-campus and online MBA programs have the option to add a concentration area to their degree. Computer Science The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) enables students to deepen their understanding in the Computer Sciences after completion of the bachelor's degree, enhancing their marketability for prospective employers. The MSCS will generally be offered in-person. However, some courses may be completed online. In-person and synchronous online course offerings will normally be evening courses to allow maximum flexibility for participation. The M.S. in Computer Science program offers students three concentrations to specialize their area of study: APPLIED COMPUTER SCIENCE: The Applied Computer Science concentration is oriented toward advanced computer science concepts and theory in a practical and applied manner. The program teaches operating systems concepts through distributed systems while deepening the student’s understanding of networking. Students explore various algorithms by conducting theoretical analysis and implementing algorithms related to artificial intelligence. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND MACHINE LEARNING: The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concentration focuses on computational aspects of AI and ML algorithm design. Coursework surveys artificial intelligence, while providing an in-depth look at machine learning and natural language processing from a programming and algorithmic perspective. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING: The Software Engineering concentration gives students an in-depth experience in software development lifecycle phases. Topics in requirements engineering, software design and design patterns, software testing, and setting up software production pipelines are covered.

data analytics certificate The proper management and analysis of data has become an essential skill in many business sectors. The Data Analytics Certificate is a four-course graduate certificate that will allow you to develop strategies for using data to gain business advantages, through inspecting and cleaning data, using programming to analyze and visualize data, and using this information to make meaningful decisions. No previous computing or programming experience is required. Why should students pursue a Data Analytics Graduate Certificate? • Data-driven decision making, a major factor in many organizations, is necessary for maintaining competitive edge. • Many professionals can benefit from and enhance their career potential through advanced study in Data Analytics. • The job market has demonstrated increasing demand in the data analysis workforce. Monster.com reports salaries between $47,000 and $87,000 for General Data Analysts in Tennessee. More advanced positions (e.g., Business Intelligence Developer / Architects) can earn nearly $100,000! The Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics may be completed by taking courses in-person, online, or a combination of the two. information systems The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) is a technically-oriented degree that conveys a deeper understanding of technology in a business context. It allows students from any background to increase their technical expertise in Information Technology and Information Systems. The MSIS can be completed entirely online or in-person. The M.S. in Information Systems program offers students four concentrations to specialize their area of study: CYBERSECURITY MANAGEMENT: The Cybersecurity Management concentration ensures students understand cybersecurity concepts before developing strategies to prevent threats to an organization's information. Protecting data that resides in and moves between information systems is vital for any organization, as evidenced by the number of information breaches occurring each year. In addition, students will use analysis techniques to detect particular types of cybersecurity attacks. DATA ANALYTICS: The Data Analytics concentration will allow you to develop strategies for using data to gain business advantages through inspecting and cleaning data, using programming to analyze and visualize data, and using the information gained to make meaningful decisions. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: The Information Management concentration introduces students to managing an organization's information assets, including how data are stored and presented to consumers. In addition to a study of strategic leadership, the concentration offers a case study in the use of information systems in the healthcare field. USER EXPERIENCE ENGINEERING: The User Experience Engineering concentration provides students with a developer-oriented option for studying User Experience (UX) and online user behavior. User experience engineers blend UX with front-end development to ensure the presentation of information is usable, stable, and attractive to the end user.

engineering technology The Master of Science in Engineering Technology is designed to provide students with an understanding of the production and operations interfaces between electrical and mechanical environments in the manufacturing setting. The curriculum will provide course work that supports the integration of current manufacturing standards. The degree provides courses in advanced robotic manufacturing processes including vision-based systems, and instrumentation and smart sensor interfacing to support the manufacturing process. The program covers design and modeling of electromechnical systems, such as positioning of robotic arms; pick and place technology using vision, recognition and feedback sensing; Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC); and interfacing sensors. Class work will include both high and low level languages such as FPGA programming, and platform-based control systems such as LabVIEW and WINCAPS. Support courses include an understanding of manufacturing process methodologies, solid modeling, project management, and accessing and utilizing innovative technologies. There is increasing industry demand for graduates who can work in an interdisciplinary engineering environment that supports automation and interfacing of control systems to support advanced manufacturing topologies.
