They will help with administrative procedures, integrating to campus life, and in your learning (particularly with tutoring). ► If you come from abroad, some actions are put in place by universities and some organisations to help you. This is the case in particular with the organisation M-Tech who organise mentoring systems all year round, social events to meet new people and even weekends to discover the region.
Winter : Wake up ! What is zero waste ? You have to see it as a goal to be achieved by everyone.
► You can create cleaning products or even cosmetics, without negatively
affecting your health or your purse. Most of the products sold in supermarkets contain phosphates, additives, artificial colourings, acids which are bad for the skin, endocrine disruptors and others chemical products that have significant consequences on our health and our environment. ► Before buying products, you can test them by applications. However, be careful that they are not financed or supported by private laboratories and firms. ► You can also make your own products ! Nowadays there are endless amounts of websites that offer tutorials and videos to teach you how to do make your very own essentials at home. At Etu’Récup, you can learn during the zero waste workshops to do your deodorant, your mask for the hair or the skin, but also washing powder.
Do it yourself ! Every year, before Christmas, the same always arises : even more gifts to buy, yet no ideas et little money to spend… so what if the solution was to make them ourselves ?
► With a little imagination, here’s a homemade molky, some bee-wraps for all the family and even key rings and jewelry with a inner tube ! If you don’t feel like a DIY’er, you can also build on of French already existing objects and customize them. consider second hand products ► Christmas boxes are offered by Echo’logik, for to be trendy. a more eco-friendly Christmas. SPRING : grow up ! Consume without breaking the bank Here a list of options to acquire in season, local produce at a cheap price :
► First, there is the AMAP (Association pour le Maintien d’une Agriculture Paysanne)
system, in which you can receive a basket of local produce from local growers and producers every week. ► There are also the Petit Paniers Campus : created by the Espace Santé, little baskets of fruits and vegetables are offered every week on the Campus. Every location point of collection is managed by organisations on campus, which you can find all the information on the Facebook page Les Petits Paniers Campus.
Thinking of becoming producer ? Whether you have a garden or not, there are a number of possibilities for you :
► Many plants can easily thrive in small pots and don’t require a lot of space. Mint,
chives, tomatoes, strawberries and radishes, these are your new best friends whilst discovering indoor gardening. Some organisations such as the Astragale et la Fourmi, based in Talence, freely give away seeds. They can also provide informations on the needs and requirements of each plant and you can even help them cultivate their garden. ► If you wish to work directly on larger vegetable gardens, you can also very easily reach the shared gardens around the university. Some organisations such as AOC (Appellation d’Origine Campus), even offer the teaching and application of ancestral techniques to carry out organic cultivation that follows the season rythme. And with AOC, you are provided with one hectare to practice !
Composting your apartment ! Whilst before it was only possible for people living in houses, composting is now accessible to everyone thanks to collective initiatives.
► Nowadays even in apartments, it is possible to collect your vegetable leftovers. ► AOC and the Astragale et la Fourmi are just two examples of shared gardens on the campus where you can bring your compost. ► At Bordeaux, there is for example Récup Récycle who offer compost collection from home.
Each year, on average

► The majority of Student Life Offices participate in practical actions for the
environment and initiate working groups between students and staffs from the university, in particular via the Conseils de Vie de Campus. You can find information directly on site or by sending them an email. ► Universities tend to enhance natural areas on the campus and raise awareness on the importance of ecological corridors. ►The Crous also initiates several environmentally responsible actions in catering and in students accommodation. ► Many organisations found on campus work towards sustainable development, don’t hesitate to contact them and to commit yourself to working alongside them.
summer : organise yourself The easy sorting First day of summer ! What’s better than a picnic, especially after a 4 hours essay ! But its known that more than 1 600 tons of waste alone is found each year in forest areas and close to 2 500 pieces of garbage per square kilometre on our beaches… one may think twice before preparing their basket. Here’s few good habits that everyone should adopt :
► Make sure you have a basket or a backpack : lunch box and bento, flask, fabric
tablecloth, no individual portion and no over packed product. It’s better to favour local in season products, reusable cutlery, a rubbish bag, your sandwich wrapped in a napkin or in a bee wrap and your egg in its shell ! ► Waste sorting is is one of the easiest environmentally friendly things to do, so let’s encourage one another to do it ! Be careful with the product we buy, avoid over packaging, individual portions and then afterwards ensuring that all waste is thrown in the appropriate bin, paying attention to some misleading items that cannot be recycled (yogurt, ham packaging and even plastic bags are not recyclable !).
Summer’s good deeds At the end of the exams, we all want to go partying, listen to music, discover cities and festivals, etc. Still you can continue to care for the environment, even when you’re not home !
► You don’t want to burn under the sun but you are also conscious of the state of our oceans, lakes and rivers ? Find a sunscreen that is both beneficial for the environment and for your skin. ► Respect sorting bins that are put in place during demonstrations that you participate. ► Use an eco cup that you can reuse or return. ► Go to a festival via public transportation, carsharing or by bike ! ► Have an ashtray or a bin in your pocket : no more cigarette butts on the ground and no more need to leave your place in first row just to throw away your chewing gum. ► Choose festivals that protect their location, raise awareness and promote ecoresponsibility.

important impact on the environment). ► Support local and in season products and/or avail of food-trucks that are presents. ► Give unsold products or the leftovers to participants or organisations ► Put in place a participatory washing-up.
