Passion and innovation drive success

Local Eumundi business owners at Laguna Pest Control – Jay and Nicky Turner – have once again been nominated as finalists in the prestigious 2024 Sunshine Coast Business Awards (SCBA).

Laguna Pest Control are a multi-award-winning business, previously winning the SCBA Trades and Services Award in 2017, 2018 and 2023. Additionally, they have been recognised as multi-award winners in the pest industry over the years, including the prestigious Australian Pest Manager of the Year.

A unique feature that has caught the attention of judges is their groundbreaking No Spray program, an initiative that emphasises environmentally friendly practices.

A further testament to their commitment to the environment is the Laguna Rescue Honey initiative. Instead of killing bees, Jay and Nicky often relocate hives to their custom-made flow hives. The honey produced from these rescue bees is then gifted to their most loyal clients, reinforcing their philosophy that Laguna is not just about pest control – it's about coexistence and care for the environment.

The business couple are fuelled by a passion for both their craft and the community they serve.

Over the past three years, Jay and Nicky have also redirected some of their focus to their popular Pestie Profiles Podcast, where they provide valuable insights, pest prevention tips, and advice for homeowners dealing with termites and common household pests.

Laguna Pest Control is a family-run business with their 26yo daughter, Wilara, serving as the office manager and their 23yo son a qualified pest technician in training for the operations manager role.

The journey of Laguna Pest Control began in 2010 when Jay and Nicky started the business from humble beginnings in Noosa. Jay's background in teaching pest control at TAFE and his degree in biological sciences and entomology, combine passion with expertise to ensure the highest quality service.
