Sunday walks

Thirty-six intrepid walkers braved the easy-grade stroll from Brooloo to Imbil on 26 November for a social gathering, a bit of ‘get fit’ focus and to raise funds for Eumundi State School's P&C to boost support for students' individual mental health needs.

“It’s more fun to walk with a group at a leisurely pace so you can chat and enjoy the scenery, knowing the well-deserved reward at the end is lunch at Wild Vine café in Imbil,” said walk organiser Rotarian Greg Molyneux. Prizes for best hats were won by Pippa in the junior category and Mick Barton in the adult category. The raffle hamper was won by Barbara Morris.

Eumundi Museum

Eumundi Rotary Club members visited the Eumundi Museum at 73 Memorial Dr recently and met with Director Joe Hextall to find out more about the town’s history. There are major expansion plans for the rear of the museum which will provide more display space and interactive screens as well as a project for repair work on the street frontage.

The visit was a great way for those not familiar with the museum to get a first-hand look at the exhibitions and learn about what is involved in Joe’s role as curator and director. Eumundi Museum is free to visit and usually open from 10am-3pm Tuesday-Saturday. Visit: eumundimuseum.org.

Santa’s Classy helpers

Santa’s Classy Helpers is a charity that hosts fundraisers throughout the year including sponsorship and social events, golf days, film nights and afternoon teas.

Funds raised provide a full trolley of groceries, clothing and treats for needy families just before Christmas at a 'shopping day' held annually in early December at The J, Noosa Junction. Disadvantaged families are referred by organisations including The Salvation Army, Sunny Kids and school chaplains so families can enjoy the festive season.

Eumundi Rotary presented Santa’s Classy Helpers’ Rose Grogan with ten Christmas cakes as a donation to the ‘shopping day’. For more information email: santasclassyhelpers@gmail. com.
