Dear participant, Consell dels Joves de Gandia - Gandia Youth Council and the team warmly welcomes you to take part in the TC Education in “Citizenship have to be VIP” in Gandia (Valencian Country – Spain). We would like to thank your interest to participate in this TC, and congratulate you for being selected to take part in it. We hope that you are looking forward to it as much as we are! In the following pages of this document you will find basic information about the activity, its background and suggested programme, information on the venue and how to get there, travel reimbursement procedure, contact details and other useful links. 1.- THE BACKGROUND AND AIM OF THIS TRAINING COURSE: Through the opportunities which Erasmus + offers, we create this project because it still believes in the necessity of working to promote values that make human beings always look for improving as an individual and as a community. The participant profile of this project will be 38 youth workers from 24 countries. The aims and the objectives: -

Disseminate inform about the Erasmus + Programme trough the cohesion of formal education and non-formal education.

Promote the active participation of young people in Europe through lifelong learning.

Promotion of active European citizenship.

-

Unite the different cultures of the different countries participating in the project.

-

Provide to the municipality of Gandia and young people from other countries the possibility of a cultural and linguistic diversity.

Promoting tolerance of groups at risk of social exclusion (LGBT, gender equality, religion...

-

Promote and defending human rights)

The methodology will be non-formal education with space for active participation and networking.


2.- THE VENUE, HOW TO GET THERE: The TC will take place in Gandia, Valencian Country (Spain), in the Centre Juvenil de Gandia “Alqueria Laborde” facilities.

URBAN BUS IN GANDIA L’Urbà , The bus l’urbà has two lines (red and yellow) and runs through the center of the city of Gandia. This modern bus does not reach the beach but it offers shuttle service to the main districts of the city. Price 1.25 Euro one way.


La Marina is the Gandia´s beach bus. 1.50 Euro one way.

3.- TRAVEL COSTS AND REIMBURSEMENT As you know, the financial conditions are collecting the guide of the Erasmus + Programme, Accommodation and meals are covered 100% as part of the activity but please, remember that you will have to pre-finance the ticket from your departure place to the venue and back. Please inform us before booking your flight when your travel costs are over that quantity, so we can check if that is possible with the budget of the rest of participants. If you are over this maximum and you don’t inform us before, we could not guarantee to cover it until having all the costs from all the travels. In case of any question, you can always contact us in trainingcourse@cjg.es. You will be reimbursed as soon as we have received all your necessary original documents (more or less one month after the training course) – they have to be all in tourist/normal class. Please keep all your original tickets (it has to appear date, journey and cost), invoices when possible (compulsory for flight ticket) and your boarding passes. In case of flight companies that don’t provide an invoice (ex. Ryanair), Spanish NA asks for the email confirmation that shows payment with a card number, and an extract from your bank account showing that


payment. Without boarding passes and invoice, we cannot reimburse your flight. Your travel costs will be refunded, minus the bank fees for abroad transaction while sending you the reimbursement, and the TC fee. Reimbursement of travel costs we will sent you by bank account also the reimbursement will be done in EURO, regardless of the currency indicated on your ticket and receipt/invoice.

!!!Note: Please note if you bought your ticket in your local currency which might be different than EURO, we will calculate your travel costs according to the exchange rates from official European Commission website for the month of ticket purchase. Any proposals of making the staying shorter or longer should be consulted with organizers. Travel costs reimbursement will be based on the travel distance. Travel distances must be calculated using the distance calculator supported by the European Commission. These bases are used to mark the most funded by this program. The maximum costs for travel from your home to Gandia should be under the quantities in the table below, according the total distance: From 100 to 499 km

4.- USEFUL INFORMATION:

Visa: To enter Spain, you need a valid identity document (passport or identity card). Whether you need a Visa for entry depends on your nationality. Citizens of EU and EFTA countries do not need a Visa. If you need a Visa, make sure you apply for it immediately. If you need a visa and you need an invitation or confirmation letter from our side, please let us know as soon as possible. In both cases we will prepare the invitation letter and sent it to you as soon as we have the required data. We do not take any responsibility for this information. If necessary, please check these questions with the Spanish embassy in your country. It is your own responsibility to have a valid identity document and – if necessary – a visa to enter Spain.

Insurance: As a member of the European Union, Spain has agreements for the recognition of insurance systems. Those who possess a European insurance card should therefore be covered for illness and accidents in the same way as they are in their country, please bring with you this card. We will have an insurance for the activity, but please remember in any case, insurance as well as travel insurance is your responsibility! Money: The currency in Spain is the Euro. Most major credit cards (American Express, Visa and MasterCard/EuroCard …) can be used for payments wherever noticed, as a rule in most major hotels, shops, and restaurants.

Intercultural Night : According to the program with activities, each organization should bring national flag, food, drinks and music, dance, some video about your county (youtube is a


good resource for this), or something typical from it, you have to do a presentation around 5 minute about your country.

Some materials for the training: We have some activities in groups in which are necessary photo/video camera and laptop , therefore we ask please if you can bring these materials which have, since we don't have enough for everyone. Also you should to bring materials of your organization because you will do a presentation of it, not more than 10 min, telling about the organization, about your work in it, how they are working… can be a video, power point or anything you can do, be original and use your imagination.

What to bring (or not): - You need to bring cleanliness stuff (like shampoo, gel, etc...). - You need to bring hairdryer if you need it. - You don’t need to bring towels for the shower. - Please bring clear information about your organization (leaflets, posters, photos… in English, if possible - and in a paper form!), so that you can make it available to the other participants during the training course. There is no time foreseen in the programme for showing computer presentations, videos or digital photos. - For the European evening, please bring some typical food from your country (cooking will be not possible) or drinks, as well as any other info to present your country, region, city, town… (e.g. maps, posters, postcards, leaflets, …) - Music: traditional/typical/modern and party music - Anything you would like to share with the other participants during this course (but take into consideration there will be not specific time allocated for this). Think that’s all… we will let you know if there is something else!!!


Time and business hours: Spain is in GMT +1 time zone. Regular business hours are from 9:00 to 14:00 and 17pm to 20pm approximately and exceptionally, some shopping centers and some supermarkets are open from 10 to 10.

Climate and weather: The area of Gandia is the climate of the Mediterranean. Winter temperatures are mild, although some day of extreme cold can be found, but it is not usual. The rains are more frequent in autumn, i.e., between the months of October and December. More intense heat is experienced during the months of June and July, days in which the thermometer is long, 30 degrees Celsius. However, please check the weather before to come here.


5.- LANGUAGE Gandia, is a city and municipality in the Valencian Country, Eastern Spain on the Mediterranean. Catalan and Spanish are the official languages of Valencian Country. Spanish Castilian is the official language of the Spanish state, while Catalan is the “own language – language proper” considered by the Valencian Statute of Autonomy. Gandia is the area where Catalan language has more speakers than Castilian. So 90% of their population have the Catalan language like mother tongue and has been Catalan as their traditional language. The course will be fully in English, however, there are activities where you can listen to French and Catalan in the activities of local and community reality.
