EmiratesArena
The EmiratesArena, which includes the Sir ChrisHoy Velodrome, wasopened in 2012 and hosted Badminton and Track Cycling during the Games. The venue includesdance and fitnessstudios and external multi-court areas, and actsasthe administrative hub for several national sport federations.

Kelvingrove Lawn BowlsCentre
The Kelvingrove Lawn BowlsCentre enjoysa dramatic setting next to KelvingroveArt Gallery and Museum. There isa long tradition of lawn bowls at Kelvingrove, and the facility here hasbeen upgraded to international standards, with the reconstruction of five competition bowling greens.

Royal Commonwealth Pool
The Royal Commonwealth Pool wasdesigned by RMJM Architects in 1967 for the Edinburgh 1970 Commonwealth Gamesand wasused again for Edinburgh 1986. The venue underwent major refurbishment to its existing facilitiesand saw the addition of a warm-up pool and dry diving area in preparation for the Diving competition at Glasgow 2014.

Glasgow National Hockey Centre
Specially designed and built to host the Hockey competition, the facility sitsadjacent to Glasgow Green and the Glasgow Green Football Centre. It featurestwo synthetic hockey pitches aswell asathlete and official support areas, and actsasheadquartersfor Scottish Hockey.

Hampden Park
Glasgow’sfamousHampden Park hosted theAthletics(Track & Field) competition and the Closing Ceremony. Home of the national football team, it wastransformed in preparation for the Games, engineersraising its playing surface by 1.9 metresto create a temporary track and field venue. Thisisthe first time the technology hasbeen used on such a large scale and with IAAF support; the approach is already being termed the ‘Glasgow solution’ in worldwide athleticscircles.

Scotstoun SportsCampus
Scotstoun SportsCampusformed one of the precinctsof the Games, hosting both Squash and Table Tennis competitions. The venue is a popular sporting and community resource which includesthe National BadmintonAcademy, an indoor tennis centre and other fitness facilities. Six new permanent squash courtswere added, with a temporary glass-walled show court used during the Gamesto give spectatorsa superlative view of the action.

TollcrossInternational Swimming Centre The Swimming competition took place at TollcrossInternational Swimming Centre. The venue has been extensively refurbished and extended, with the existing 50m, 10-lane pool joined by a new 50m, six-lane warm-up and training pool.

Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trails Set against a backdrop of ancient woodland, steep slopes and wide-open spaces, the Trails offer a spectacular panorama of the city beyond.A permanent facility, the venue makesthe most of the varied terrain to provide a challenging coursefor riders. Its key features− including Brig O’Doom and Clyde Climb − were named by local schoolchildren.

SSEHydro
The SECC Precinct wasthe largest venue precinct of the Games, hosting the competitions for six sports. The SSEHydro here hosted the Gymnasticscompetitions aswell as the Boxing Finals and Netball medal matches. The building hasestablished itself as a world-classmusic venue and isequipped with cutting edge technology and digital specifications.

TheAthletes’ Village
TheAthletes’ Village washome to the majority of athletesand officials during GamesTime. Developed by Glasgow City Council with City Legacy (a private-sector consortium), and designed by RMJM, the Village isat the heart of one of Europe’slargest regeneration areas, bringing a legacy of new homesand jobs to Glasgow’seast end.
