History & Poli cs Walking tour of Krakow A walking tour of Krakow is a great introduc1on to the city. It offers the opportunity to see its main a4rac1ons including Kazimierz, the former Jewish quarter, a visit to Wawel Castle in Wawel Hill as well as St Mary’s Church and Collegium Maius in the Old Town. An experienced guide will give informa1on on the history of the city and will be able to answer any ques1ons . Auschwitz/ Birkenau Concentra on Camps www.auschwitz.org 6 million Poles, including 3 million Jews, perished in Nazi Concentra1on Camps between 1940– 1945, over 1.5 million at Auschwitz alone. There is a 15 minute documentary film about the libera1on of the camp. The tour then takes you through some of the surviving prison blocks, gas chamber and crematorium, with an extension of the tour to the “Death Gate” and housing blocks at Birkenau.
Schindler Museum This modern museum, on the site of Oskar Schindler’s enamel factory, is devoted to the events that took place during 5 years of Nazi occupa1on during World War II. A guide is recommended to accompany your group round the ingenious exhibits, artefacts, photos and documents.

Galicia Jewish Museum www.galiciajewishmuseum.org/ This museum located in the Jewish Quarter of Kazimierz exists to commemorate and celebrate Jewish culture in Polish Galicia from pre-war to present day. Your guide will take you around the exhibi1on presen1ng Jewish history from a new perspec1ve. Meet a Holocaust Survivor A truly unique opportunity to meet a holocaust survivor for a 45 minute talk about their first hand experiences. The availability of this talk is dependant on the availability and health of the speaker.

Kazimierz was the historical centre of Krakow’s Jewish religious and social life and was incorporated into Krakow in the 18th century. The tour takes you to the most important monuments in this area including the Old Synagogue, the Remuh Synagogue and Remuh Cemetery. Oscar Schindler Trail

The Schindler trail begins in the district of Kazimierz which has been a Jewish centre since the 15th Century. The trail includes the Kazimierz Ghe4o, the war1me ghe4o area, Pankiewicz's chemist shop, Schindler's enamel factory and the Plaszow concentra1on camp.

The Wawel Royal Castle and Cathedral on Wawel Hill was built at the 1me of Casimir III the Great, who reigned from 1333 to 1370. It is the most historically and culturally important site in Poland. The castle is a combina1on of Medieval Romanesque, Renaissance styles all brought by different rulers and houses extremely valuable museum collec1ons.

The Cloth Hall in the Old Town Square was built in the 1550’s is one of the most dis1nc1ve sights in Krakow. Once the main focus of Krakow’s trade, the hall is s1ll used today with stalls and shops on the ground floor. A great place to purchase trip souvenirs!

Wieliczka Salt Mine

Wieliczka is one of the oldest salt mines in Europe, which has been working for over 700 years. The oldest part of the mine has been opened to the public as a museum. A tour of the mine takes in the galleries, chambers and chapels on three upper levels, between 64 and 135 metres below ground. All exposed figures and monuments are carved of salt. The highlight is the richly ornamented Chapel of Blessed Kings. Day trip to Zakopane, Tatra Mountains

Zakopane is located about 100 km south of Krakow, close to the Slovak border and on the edge of the Tatra Mountains Na1onal Park. It gradually evolved from a li4le village to the regions health resort and is known as the winter capital of Poland. There are numerous museums in the town, the most significant and oldest being The Tatra Museum. There is also the Natural History Museum of Tatra Na1onal Park and biographical museums of famous Polish ar1sts, among them great composer Karol Szymanowski and the poet Jan Kasprowicz.
