Blood needed

THERE has been an urgent appeal for blood in Malaga province as reserves are ‘at a minimum’ and likely to only last approximately another day.

The Malaga Blood Transfusion Centre has said that 250 donations are needed every day to be able to maintain sufficient stock and cover all the demand from hospitals.

it is possible to reduce risk factors by living a healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet, regular physical activity, avoiding smoking and drugs, and managing stress.

As well as providing information on managing risks, the information booth also showed residents the locations of Benalmadena’s 48 defibrillators and how to use them.

For this reason, the population is encouraged to go and donate to the Blood Transfusion Center (Civil Hospital Campus), open until tomorrow, Friday, March 24, from 9.00am to 9.00pm and Saturday March 25, from 9.00am to 2.00pm.

There will also be mobile donation units in Estepona, Totalan, Mijas and Nueva Andalucia.

THE Marbella branch of Ecologists in Action (EeA) is organising a walking activity on Sunday, March 26, to mark the third edition of ‘Livestock Tracks & Public Rights of Way Day’.

The proposed route is a section of the cattle track known as ‘Vereda del Puente de Ronda’, an easy 5km route suitable for families which will take around three hours.

The departure point is the start of Puerta Verde de Marbella (AlohaMarbella Urbanisation, next to the golf course).
