ELCHE is excited to report it will host the finals of the Singing Contest, Festes d’Elx, on August 6.

The competition will consist of two categories: Children/Teenagers (aged eight to 15) and Adults (aged 16 to 25).

In the final, the winner of each category will be chosen. The final will consist of 20 participants, previously selected by an expert jury that will assess the artists globally.

If you would like to take part, the registration period begins on Monday, July 17 at 9.00am. Those interested must send a singing video of a maximum of two minutes by email to: emyc.talent.acade my@gmail.com

The city council wants the contest to serve as a tourist attraction and as an incentive for vocal culture in the municipality.

In the children’s category, the winners will receive a diploma and a video clip filmed in a professional stu­ dio.

THE Cape Verde Park in Torrevieja celebrated its first anniversary on Sunday, July 9. Twenty years ago, many Cape Verdeans who worked in the mines of Asturias, upon their retirement or closure of the mines, chose to come to live on the Levantine coast.

The adult winners will receive the same and also cash prizes of €300, €200 and €100.

Tickets to the venue are free and entrance can be made until the maximum capacity of the Hort de Baix is reached.
