Preliminary Research Problem Analysis
Forms matter
Lack of functions
Smart home?
Currently, most of lighting design focuses on form and aesthetics. The function is not that much important as itself; instead, people are easily attractived by beauty objects. How can we improve this phenomenon?
Lighting design can be design to place everywhere at home. However, people are lazy to turn on/off the swithes specially, is there any way we can make it become a more convenient object?
Most of the furnitures are still, silent and unconscious, but with time moves forward, deisgners have started to give these objects live. Can we make it even smarter than what we expect?
Currently the light only provide the purposes of aesthetic decoration and illuminating the space. In this intelligentized era people seek more than the basic functions instead of turning light switches manually.

QUOTES
"The lamp is functional, efficient, bright, and aesthetically pleasing. The only gripe I have is the two brightness settings weren't drastically different from each other."
“It' has fantastic design and great ambient light. The floor lamp is unsecured to the base, and wobbles. It cannot be places on carpeting, and the top of it has no way to secure it to the base, so that it is easily knocked over."
"The Dimmer and Shading functions are excellent. I used it for my working space and lit up my desk, I wish they had a light guard cause I sometimes look at the light by accident."
"It's hard to belive that when you walk home and most of the furnitures are like a small assitant robot waiting there to serve you. The objects will recognize you in the futire."
GOALS
• The brightness function should be vary in apparent. • Functios are important than aesthetics.
• Add the base to make the lamp sturdy. • The 60" lamp should have more powerful bulb to install in.
• Light guard to protect eyes when look at light accidently. • Both function and aesthetics are important.
• Price is not a top factor when piching up the product if it's high-end. • Both function and aesthetics are important.

Cornerture
51
Inspiration Inspired by the style of Japanese aesthetics, Wabi-Sabi and the form of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the project Cornerture utilizes the element of space as a part of its structure by “parasitizing” on to the corners or edges of the walls, the edge of the floor and exhibition stands.
Design Brief Placing furniture in the corner of the room will sometimes give off a calming effect. Likewise there is an area of a room that just feels right when you place a book, a mobile phone, a tablet, a key or a clock. A piece of furniture that looks as though it is an extract of such a “corner of space”. The objective of the project Cornerture is to design a series of furniture that can fully ultilize the space of corner with unique insight and style.
