The singer, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, left Klenord “Shaft” Raphael for a new management group, who also looks after the likes of Migos, in March. Shaft claims he discovered the 25-year-old in 2015 and had a huge impact on her meteoric rise to fame over the past year. “Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image,” Shaft’s spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. Anna was born and raised in Moldova where she began her career at the tender age of six. “I finished at the top of the class the Choreographic Lyceum of Chisinau, where I specialised in DanceSport (Ballroom and Latin dancing) among other art disciplines. Even though I had opportunities in foreign language studies and fine arts, I chose a career in dance. As a young adult I joined the prestigious Codreanca DanceSport Club, multiple winners of IDSF European and World Formation Championships” Anna explains.

Anna’s first professional opportunity came at the age of 17. “The stage became my favourite place that brought out the best in me” remembers Anna. “I went on to master other dance styles (like jazz, ballet and contemporary dance), I undertook private lessons and workshops with world-class performers and instructors and I was lucky to study under renowned choreographers throughout my career” she continues. “I also performed around the world as a lead dancer in major revues and stage productions, beautiful and sweet memories I cherish every day”. Anna relocated to Marbella in 2008, and fell in love with the sunny weather and the quality of living however she noticed an enormous lack of dance culture. With her impressive experience she had the idea of opening a dance school. “I started literally with one student, now we count over 50 and the numbers continue growing”. “I am content with the overall progress of our school, the girls have started to compete

Dancing is highly social and children learn new communication skills, how to trust, co-operate and work as part of a team without having to compete with their peers” “Dance requires discipline and focus it improves a child’s listening ability, memory/ spatial awareness, and awareness of others within a group” continues Anna. “Dancing uses both sides of the brain simultaneously in a co-ordinated manner, one half is controlling the physicality and movement, the other the creative and artistic expression. Children who dance are given the opportunity to deepen and

enhance their self-esteem; through hard work and performance children can feel adept, capable and able - a deeply satisfying and nurturing process. This in turn serves to further motivate a child to strive further. Children often find dance a great emotional release, those suffering from stress or other challenges can find ease in the creative expression of dance. As kids develop a greater sense of their physicality, they start to feel more comfortable in their own skin, and develop a positive attitude towards their own bodies”. Although deeply fulfilling, Anna explains her chosen field is not all plain sailing, “Being a dance teacher is not the easiest or the most glamorous job in the world. It is also not the one with the highest pay or the most consistent rewards”. “Sometimes I feel exhausted. Sometimes I become discouraged by an unkind remark or overwhelmed by the endless work. But there are many reasons I do what I do. Although I appreciate the thank-you cards that my students give me through the year, my greatest gift is watching a class of beginning students’ right before their first performance and realise what they have accomplished in their first year of dance. To notice the technical improvement in an

Although I am no way a Buddhist and am not too hot on the whole concept of reincarnation – although there are a few people out there that I fervently wish would come back as bugs so that I could swat them (not very Buddhist I know) - if I did get to have my time on Earth again, then I would want to come back as an Italian. Perhaps it’s the culture and history. Maybe it’s the innate style and the effortless cool that they are born with, or as a motor racing nut myself, maybe it’s the passion of the tifosi – the Italian racing fans that flock to Monza to cheer on their beloved Ferrari team. Most probably though, it’s the food and drink. While other foodies rave about cutting edge cuisine or fusions of culinary cultures, I could very happily live on Italian food for the rest of my life. So I jumped at the chance to check out Incontro in Puerto Banus. Located on the Cristamar Centre just opposite El Corte Ingles, the main dining area is a covered decked terrace, perfect for enjoying the spring sunshine and watching the bustle of Banus street life. It took me milliseconds for a huge smile to spread across my face as a I realized that Incontro was 100% authentic Italian. No nation, and I mean no nation, does street life like the Italians - there seemed to be six different conversations on HOTMagazine.es

As I mentioned before, Italians are passionate about driving… Chef Nino - who comes from Napoli, the home of pizza, explained, “Incontro is traditional Italian cuisine with authentic products. Everything from the flour to the tomatoes comes from Italy, and we have an authentic Neapolitan oven as well”. 84

Incontro has only recently opened in Banus but the sister restaurant in San Pedro has been hugely popular with locals and visitors in the know for years. We started the meal with wonderful Focaccia and Antipasti that included beautifully grilled vegetables, Palma ham, salamis, and a buffalo mozzarella that was so fresh we had suspicions that they were keeping buffalo in the downstairs car park. The gambas pil pil Incontro has us all dipping into the brilliant sauce with our bread, something that usually happens when the Hot team

devour this dish! We tried two pizzas – the Pizza Incontro – ham, Parma ham, salami, ricotta cheese and parmesan cheese and Pizza Incontro Blanca Trufa mozzarella, shiodini mushrooms, egg and truffle, and let’s just say that they were so good that I took the left overs with me for later. And they tasted damn good for breakfast the following morning! For mains we chose the escalope with zingy lemon sauce and grilled vegetables, as well a Spaghetti Carbonara - a bone fide classic dish that was delicious, and finally an awe inspiring Tagliolini all olio di tartufo – strips of beef, cherry tomatoes, parmesan flakes and truffle oil – that was so good that members of the Hot team returned the next day to taste it again in their own time. I’ve been a big fan of Incontro for years and will be making it a regular on my list of restaurants. I may not have been lucky enough to have been born Italian, but at least I can eat Italian!

The first of the new dishes was a Caprese Salad and it has to be said, was extremely well

presented. With a balsamic reduction and green pesto drizzled over the mozzarella and tomato the dish looked a vibrance of colour. It seemed a shame to spoil it but as we each tried a mouthful it was obvious by the look on each of the team that it was a hit. The mozzarella was so fresh, the tomatoes juicy and the balsamic and pesto just added to make it exceptional. Next up was the Spiced Belly Pork served on a bed of Asian styled vegetables. WOW, not really much more we can say about this dish but WOW. The pork just fell away as you cut

After spending the next 5 minutes waxing lyrical about the pork we were presented with the next dish, Butterflied Panko Prawns (3) served with lime alioli. Again the presentation was exquisite as was the food. The prawns were crispy yet succulent and the lime alioli dipping sauce was just magnificent. The final dish was a dessert, not just any old dessert but a ‘square slice of heaven’ that just happened to go by the name of a Salted Caramel Brownie. Now it must be said that this dessert should come with a public health warning as once the smooth caramel hits the back of your throat you are addicted! With food as good as this Funky Tapas has proved itself the perfect place to banish the wet weather and welcome back the sunshine this spring!

outside of the beach, again this is rare. I do see girls with the most beautiful cover-ups on, I am now being told this is also not acceptable and neither is fancy dress. Where are these people making these ridiculous laws coming from, surely it can not be legal to tell people what to wear? I went to the opening of the Ocean Club and what an opening it was! It is always so impressive with the décor and entertainment, although I do feel it is a bit expensive, compared to what is used to be a few years ago, however it is still a great night out, and the fireworks were incredible as usual! o, the season started early, especially for TIBU and what an opening night! It was incredible - so busy. We all knew it would be a great night but it was beyond expectations, a sure sign of a great summer for TIBU. I love a beach day, it’s my favourite thing to do on a Sunday. The weather, however, has been so hit and miss, so I have been on a little beach tour with very little sun-bathing and lots of drinking and why not? I was so shocked to see Heaven Beach burnt to the ground, I was planning a Sunday session there and when I arrived it was still smouldering. What an absolute shame, it was a great beach bar, so I went further along to Sonora beach, which was absolutely lovely. It’s very quirky but the food is fabulous and if anybody is going there I recommend the octopus washed down with Rosé wine, really delicious. I also went to one of my favourites Mistral Beach. Again when I got there the wind was cold so nothing else for it but sit in restaurant and eat and drink. They make a great cocktail there and always a fabulous vibe, they actually closed up around us. I still don’t understand why beach bars close so early. My next one was the very fabulous Beach House, they have had a refurbishment inside, however I always sit outside

and surprisingly the sun was out. It’s a bit of a trek to get to but once there always a great afternoon, good food and great entertainment. I attended the United Nationalities Marbella Summit, hosted by the lovely Nicole King from Marbella Now – RTV Marbella, - a great event to bring people together focussing on local charities, including Triple A, orphans and the elderly and also on Marbella as a whole. Please contact Nicole if anybody would like to get involved with any charities. I had the opportunity to talk briefly about what I believe is an unnecessary persecution on the British tourists, I totally understand and agree nobody wants to see vomiting in the streets and the like, however this is a very, very small minority and certainly not the majority, but is being portrayed that all Brits act like this which is certainly not true. There are new laws coming into play that fines will be issues for guys walking around with no tops on, I am in the Port every single day and very rarely see this, it is usually a dad pushing a pram with his family, girls being fined for wearing bikinis

There’s nothing quite like live music to liven up a normal “night out”. Yes, a singer or band can spice up an otherwise dull scene but what I’m referring to are accompanying musicians: trumpeters, saxophonists, violinist and percussionists who can convert even the most predictable songs into something completely unpredictable, fresh and new. This trend of having musicians accompany the music being played by a DJ started in nightclubs in the late nineties, early noughties and is still very popular today.
