UK rapper, Stormzy, has issued an apology for dozens of homophobic tweets he posted. The 24-year-old rapper says his now-deleted tweets from as recently as 2014, which featured the words “f*g”, “f****t” and “proper gay” as insults - showed he was “proudly ignorant”, but insisted they expressed “attitudes [he’s] left in the past”. In a fourtweet apology online, Stormzy admitted today that “discriminative” words like “f*g” were “part of his vocabulary” before he became famous. “I said some foul and offensive things whilst tweeting years ago at a time when I was young and proudly ignorant. “Very hurtful and discriminating views that I’ve unlearned as I’ve grown up and become a man. The comments I made were unacceptable and disgusting, full stop. The least said the better!

The Hot team was sad to hear of the death of 70’s superstar, David Cassidy last month after suffering multiple organ failure. The actor and musician (67), who shot to fame as Keith in 1970s TV sitcom The Partridge Family, and went on to have a successful music career with multiple Grammy nominations and 30million record sales worldwide, was admitted to a hospital in Florida last month. In a statement a representative said: “On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. “David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long”. The brand has been steadily building its presence in mainland China over the past few years, with a total of 26 stores there, so it makes commercial sense to hold the

And still look glamorous “Sometimes I really have no time – like if I’m taking the kids to school, or if I’m going to work out, I don’t care really - but if I have 15 minutes more I might
put something together that looks a little better,” she admits. “You never know if you’re going to get photographed or not there so it’s hard. It’s a pain in the ass.” Noting that she loves the “effortless style of stars from Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot to Kate Moss, Ambrosio packs relatively lightly when travelling, including: “a leather jacket, a white shirt, a pair of black heels, boots, some espadrilles, a few swimsuits from my own line more like five!” Travelling is both the best and worst thing about her life “I get to go to amazing places, and meet such interesting people - people at the top of their game - and you learn so much from them and from all the different cultures you get to visit,” she says. “To me, this is my college. You get to learn and be cosmopolitan. But the worst part is being away from my kids. Often they’re not with me, so that’s hard. Sometimes I just want to be an at-home mum, but I also love what I do. You have to find a balance.” Apart from keeping fit through a mix of hiking with friends, a recently discovered passion; yoga, at least twice or three times a week; and barre, Ambrosio finds the balance
she seeks from regular trips home, which also allows her to indulge a wardrobe stacked with all manner of floaty bohemian items. “I’m definitely most comfortable when I’m back in Brazil,” she smiles “I think because of the weather; I love it when it’s really humid and warm. When my kids have holidays from school, like for the two months they have in the summer, we don’t do summer camp or anything. Their summer camp is back in Brazil with the grandparents - they speak Portuguese, of course, but they have American accents too when they speak English – and they love it there. I wish we had more time in the sun.” “I just try to live the fullest each day of my life,” Alessandra says, “I don’t think this is a career where you can plan too much. I try to always be prepared, so if stuff comes my way, I’m ready to do it. But I don’t say, ‘I want to do this and this and this,’ and then if I don’t do it, I get disappointed. There is a second briefing in the cockpit and then you can select your airport.

Annie explains how the salon has grown since being established in June 2016. “We went from strength to strength, got busier and got a good reputation. Paris also took me to an odyssey of design and what else, fashion. In October, the Musee Yves Saint Laurent opened for the first time 10 years after the genius designer’s death to honour his life and legacy. The museum at YSL’s former headquarters on Rue Marceau is the first in Paris to exclusively display the work of one fashion designer in the world. The historic studio showroom and haute-couture house in the 16th arrondissment is where Saint Laurent designed and showed his clothing. It features some of his
iconic collections, mannequins, mood boards as well as his actual office where sketches and worksheets still scatter like he has just been there yesterday. A must visit place for any fashion lover who want to have a glimpse of a phenomenal designer’s world. Just a few blocks away from the YSL Museum is the Musee De La Mode (Fashion Museum ) at the Palais Galliera. This season, the gallery was featuring the great Spanish designers including Balenciaga and the one that I had a real delight to see, Mariano Fortuny, a 19th century Spanish artist who moved to Italy where he gained acclaim and popularity. He is considered one of the masters in fabrics, reinterpreting the styles and motifs of Ancient Greece, the Middle-Ages and the Renaissance. He also created timeless pieces with soft, straighthanging lines. It was amazing to see how some of his designs and fabrics are still wearable and relevant to this day!
Alta, on the 8th district is a wonderful Portuguese seafood restaurant which serves fresh catch of the day and yes, you have to queue as well as they don’t take reservations. First come, first served only. And of course, do not leave Paris without having a macaron in La Duree or in my new favourite boulangerie, at Printemps Department Store. The French pastries at this salon de thé may have a Russian accent but they have an excellent super rich hot chocolate, too. It was hard to say au revoir to this beautiful city, but I am always looking forward to what it may offer me when I come back next year and the next ones after that. Paris, Je,taime.

Of course, any travel would be incomplete without experiencing the local gastronomy. As you may well know by now, there must be hundreds, if not thousands of dining places, cafes and bars all around the city— some good, some bad; some cheap, a lot of them expensive. This year, I try to stay away from the usual tourist magnet for dining, Champs Elysees, where coffee costs at least seven euros per cup. Thanks to my friend Sarah Rabbi, my best friend in high school and now a bonafide Parisian, I was introduced to places where the actual locals eat and drink. Near the Opera district is a pseudo “Japan-town” where all the gorgeous noodle places are. You won’t miss the best places because you will see the long queue outside the restaurants. One of the great things about living in Marbella is the huge amount of lifestyle options. In summer you can enjoy the beach lifestyle, lounging by the Mediterranean, eating fabulously fresh food at a chiringuito, or spraying champagne at a swish beach club. If you fancy a totally “Marbs” few days then you can get down and party with the big boys at any number of bars and clubs. From the delicious palate preparing mango sorbet, via a variety of delicious dishes featuring courgette, pumpkin, beetroot, walnut and truffle oil, avocado to a brilliantly flavoured banana dessert, Bruno lead us through the outstanding flavours and textures of raw and vegan food. The Zero Calorie Master Class promises to be a great way to start the festive party season. Every Saturday from January the team at El Banco aim to mix up yoga and food up to keep you on your toes, motivated and smiling in great company. Saturdays at El Banco will be the centre of a balanced and fun Marbella weekend. El Banco’s Menu del Dia also features a starter and main course selected by Bruno. Maestro in the Market Marbella’s Municipal Market is well known as the place where local chefs go to get the freshest produce. But even they were stunned when Juan Marí Arzak, Spain’s undisputed greatest chef and holder of three Michelin stars, popped in for a quick tapa last month. have a confession to make. I didn’t know much about Kitch Social Club before reviewing it. I had driven by the Casa Rusia business centre several times and had wondered what Kitch actually was.
Kitch is NOT a private members club, it is open to everyone!
The white frontage doesn’t give much away. You could be mistaken for thinking that Kitch is merely a small member’s only bar, perhaps with a separate dining area. I had also been informed that it was an expensive private club, where you had to be Russian to fit it. But as the saying goes, appearances can be deceptive. When the Hot team visited, we were met at the entrance by an elegant doorman, who ushered us through the lobby and around a marble floored corridor to the lift. As I waited for the lift I realised that I was standing on a balcony and that Kitsch was huge! Glancing over the balcony, below me I saw a stunning outside lounge area, with comfortable sofas, a large bar, water features and even wooden bridges. Stepping out of the lift, friendly and smartly dressed waiting staff led us across the outside area and into the restaurant itself. I have lived in Marbella on and off for over thirty years and thought that I knew every nook and cranny of this town, but I was totally taken by surprise by Kitch! As another saying goes –“The man who knows something knows that he knows nothing at all”! Kitch’s restaurant is effortlessly elegant. Chandeliers hang from the high ceilings and large reproductions of classic Italian art and sculpture adorn the walls. The interior is muted brown and beiges, with stylish sofas and tables around the edge of the main dining area, perfect for a pre or post meal drink. One end of the restaurant has a big and beautiful bar, stocked with seemingly every spirit known to Man and topped with a peacock! (Before you ask, no, I hadn’t been enjoying too many pre-dinner cocktails). The Hot team took a table in the spacious dining area and studied the menu. Kitch Offers a great selection of drinks. From beautiful and mature Spanish wines, to an array of gins, cognacs and over thirty kinds of whiskeys, their members will be spoiled for choice and will always have something that fits the mood
always a good sign in my opinion as it often means that, rather than try and be all things to all men, the chef is confident enough in his own abilities to offer a smaller number of outstanding dishes. Starters included the Kitch House Salad – avocado, egg, calamata tomatoes, feta cheese and onion with cashew pesto – and Vegetable Timbale – Roasted autumnal vegetables with Rondeño goat cheese and honey. We choose Octopus and Prawns – served with spiced potatoes, cherry tomatoes, quail egg and onion, and the Spring Rolls – duck spring rolls with pickled daikon and pepper chutney. Both dishes were beautifully presented by the attentive, professional waiting staff. The Octopus and Prawns were extremely fresh and tasty, while the Spring Rolls were deliciously light, crisp and full of flavour. We had soon eagerly finished out both dishes! Mains included Sole –grilled with butter, citrus fruits and vegetables – Sorrentino Pasta – homemade pasta with spinach and ricotta, cherry tomatoes and cheese sauce – and Sirloin Steak – a prime cut of beef with micuit. We decided on the lamb – roasted and served with aubergine, rocket salad and potatoes – and chicken

– honey and ginger glazed chicken served over vegetables and glass noodles. The chicken looked superb and was beautifully succulent. The lamb also looked “too good to eat”, but we did, and were extremely pleased that we did! The texture of the meat was simply gorgeous, falling off the bone and drawing appreciative comments from the table. It was, so good in fact that we called over our photographer and insisted that he taste some! Although I was on my usual agua con gas, the other members of the Hot team enjoyed an outstanding white wine with their mains. Desserts include Cheesecake with strawberry sauce and blueberry foam, and chocolate lava cake with mint ice cream and basil ‘sand’. We chose the Sacher cake with mango sorbet. As I mentioned before, the starters and mains were beautifully presented, but the dessert was a genuine work of art! It looked amazing, but that didn’t stop the Hot team grabbing their spoons and tasting this work of art. The cake was sublimely full of taste, while the mango sorbet was quite simply delicious! One of Kitch’s owners, Mira joined our table and, after accepting our compliments on a superb meal,
outlined some of the venues plans for the future. These include covering the outside area in January (Kitch will be closed for a few weeks while the structure is installed), which will make the outside lounge even more attractive for those just wanting to enjoy a drink and perhaps a shisha in the cooler months. Kitch also has a busy calendar of parties and events coming up, including live music and shows with some of the most exciting talents from around Europe, as well as some themed evenings. And without giving away surprises, we get the distinct feeling that Kitch’s New Year’s Eve party is going to be somewhat epic! We left Kitch thoroughly impressed. Congratulations to Mira, chef Georgy and his team –this brilliant restaurant has completely blown away our misconceptions and we are looking forward to our next visit to this swish, stylish and sensational addition to Marbella’s restaurant scene!

kitchen has its own hygiene license, for example, and that that is often an oversight. There are specifications on fully hygienic surfaces, not only the stainless steel surfaces in the kitchen but also the bar, certain heights, where taps should be and were electrical points should be. All of these things have to be addressed and you can open a restaurant and then be shut down because they aren’t right. The regulations are constantly changing and you have to keep up with them as they are all relevant for the day”. Justin talks me through what a new client might expect “We would meet with you to discuss your idea for your restaurant and then compile a mood board to 82

make sure that we were on the right track, draw floor plans, with all the plans and license. We would then invite you back to make sure that you were happy with what we were doing before making 3D models and choosing the materials”. He also points out that now is the perfect time for preparing for next summer. “We are dealing with a lot of restaurant owners who are getting things in place for 2018. If your restaurant looks tired, and you are not up to speed, then you might be having an even more difficult time next year. perhaps it’s time to have a think. “It is also important in restaurants to make sure that you are using all the right products, creating a sumptuous, luxurious effect, but ensuring that they are durable. A new look doesn’t have to involve huge expense, however. Continental Design has its own upholstery workshop that is constantly busy with chairs, cushions, stools and sofas. There is also a massive selection of materials including imitation coppers and wooden beams at reasonable prices. “If you wallpaper a wall here and there, you can look as if you have had a full face lift when in reality you have just revitalised what you already have and got yourself up to speed for less than you think.” says Justin. Current trends in restaurants include an organic industrial mix using coppers and bronzes and stainless steels, plus a mix of plantation and softer fabrics to create warmth and comfort. “Restaurants are no longer just about the food,” explains Justin. “They are an experience and have to reflect modern trends”. And with Continental Design, that experience can be stylish, on trend and profitable!
