Fashion Blogger Masoom Minawala's Intimate Mumbai Wedding Managed by Obelus Events, the celebrations saw small, personal details of the bride and groom’s special moments being integrated in the overall experience.
Next up the Mehendi, was a Bohemian themed outdoor experience at private lawns in Worli, overlooking the sea. Décor at this event featured the London Eye, which is where the groom had proposed to the bride! The weather, wine, and the overall vibe put the crowd in an absolute trance. Blue Foods was roped in to handle the F&B at the event.
Obelus Events planned the wedding of one of India's top fashion blogger, Masoom Minawala who owns the popular fashion blog Style Fiesta, with her longtime boyfriend Shailin Mehta.
Masoom Miniwalla wanted this day to be a compilation of her favourite things with a blend of dreamy, mystical, bohemian elements. Therefore, decor elements included clean, white garden chairs in a relaxed theatre seating during dance performances. For the dining area, a picnic table-bench seating was created in a raw-birch finish.
The couple's love story is one right out a novel and taking inspiration from the same, Obelus Events incorporated small details of their special moments in the overall experience. The celebration planned for over 5 days commenced with a super colourful Holi Party at By the Pier, Radio Club, Colaba.

The gorgeous table featured a Chantilly lace runner, accessorized with bright florals and a touch of gold. Ferris wheels were used as table centre-pieces to represent London Eye (the place where Shailin asked Masoom out on a date 5 years ago!)

I worked with Masoom for almost 6 months to bring this far-fetched Pinterest dreams idea into something tangible. From lists of elements that we got from her to-be husband Shailin and her love story, to her various hobbies, we ideated endlessly until we had a moodboard that synced with our visions to make the venue to look like a little magical haven! Chip-chop games were strewn around the tables with a ‘Would You Rather Game’ inside to represent the bride's love for games, and most importantly, for an impromtu Would You Rather session! Handpicked Persian carpets with delicate motifs in shades of ivory, maroon and tan, forming an entrance walkway into the venue looked elegant. The book and bulb hangings to represent her love for reading was one of our favourite installations, not to mention the unique photobooth with an overflowing script and their love story inscribed within! Ivory crochet boho dream catchers as a periphery by the sea provided the perfect vibe for the night. A customized ‘flex on’ bar with an LED heart trio was used. The entrance had coral trunks and cottage white crates, donned with ornate frames, chrome lanterns and vintage tea cups. While the steps showcased clusters of glass jars, vases and pots in miscellaneous shapes and sizes, adorning the descending steps with foliage runners, candles and chai pyaalis. Hand painted song lyrics that symbolize Shailoom over wooden boards were finished with few sprigs of eucalyptus.

Masoom’s wedding entry was nothing less than the announcement of a princess walking in. The procession had about 50 people with flags, drums, diyas, and the bride’s favourite petals up in the air. The wedding was held at Dome, NSCI and F&B was managed by Jyoti Caterers. 10

Decor Ideas That Don’t Burn A Hole In The Pocket! Wedding designer Aashna Singh, Director, Aash Studio reveals budget decor ideas that beautified her own roka ceremony! Every wedding today features innumerable functions leading up to the big day. The most common misconception that people have is that the more functions there are, the bigger the hole in their pockets. By adopting a DIY attitude, you don’t just save money but also have the power to customize every little detail. One of my own pre-wedding ceremonies (Roka) was held in the familiarity of my home since I wanted to ensure a warm and intimate feel. According to me, choosing a colour scheme is a good start. By having a palette to work with, you immediately begin to visualize what the space could look like. Moreover, the good thing about customizing is that everything can be made according to the client requirement and preference.
My Roka was coloured with my favourite shades of pink; right from the canopy of bougainvillea and the chandelier rose arrangement created using readily available flowers and twine. We created a big personalized bar, yet paid attention to small details like having the engagement rings engraved. Each such detail adds to the intimacy of the celebration. Adding accent pieces allows one to brighten up any space. Décor accents in the form of personalized boards with quirky messages or a wedding hashtag add a personal touch, making it all the more special. It is important to remember to assess the space you are working with and maximise it. The niches in the walls of my home served as a natural gallery – printing out my favourite memories and placing them there proved to be a great topic of conversation too! Small details are never to be ignored, right down to the decorating of the ring thali and gifts' packaging design.

A Refreshing Peppa-Pig-Themed Birthday Do! Elusive Dreams created this Peppa Pig theme for a girl’s second birthday celebration which proved to be a refreshing change from the typical girly themes like ‘Frozen’ and ‘Princess’ which have been done to death. Elusive Dreams designed and executed this absolutely unique Peppa-Pig-themed birthday party at the client's residence in South Delhi for the second birthday celebration of their daughter. Speaking of the theme, Pooja Gupta, Director, Elusive Dreams explained how as the event designer, she tried to create a concept that is new and offbeat as opposed to the regular Frozen or Princess theme which is so overdone for birthday parties of little girls. Everything used in décor was handcrafted and handmade! The agency customized the props according to the requirement of the theme. The agency also personalized the cake table, hangings and other elements in accordance with the theme. Children's activities like tattoo-making were also organized to keep the little ones engaged. 12

The decor in each event which took place as part of this wedding was very different from the others. The Mehendi was kept extremely colourful while the wedding didn't see the usual reds and golds. Instead a lovely peach was used as the dominant colour of the evening. This Jaipur wedding, planned and executed by Shaadi Squad, began with an absolutely delightful bright Mehendi at Hotel Diggi Palace. The Mehendi was followed by a Cocktail at Forresta bar, Devraj Nivas. Following this, a Sangeet was hosted at Amaara Banquets the same evening. The gorgeous wedding took place the next day at Jai Mahal Palace with a lovely backdrop of the palace. According to Tina Tharwani, Director, Shaadi Squad, the agency got working on this wedding almost 6 months prior and their biggest challenge was to work with a ' vendor bride' –Purva Aggarwal, since she was very particular about her requirements. A DIVINE AFFAIR Designed By Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and Executed By Celebrations
The concept used in decor for this prewedding celebration was based on the RasLeela which Lord Shree Krishna performed with his most glorious devotees in the forest of Vraja on the banks of river Yamuna in the groves and gardens of Vrindavan. Conceptualized by popular fashion designers Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla and diligently executed by Celebrations, this ultra-high profile Mumbai pre-wedding celebration took place at the client's residence in Mumbai. The overall experience was truly magical! The concept used in decor was based on the Ras-Leela which Lord Shree Krishna performed with his most glorious devotees in the forest of Vraja on the banks of river Yamuna in the groves and gardens of Vrindavan. 18
The Pichwai paintings created and used as backdrops in the Sreenathjee Temple at Nathathdwara were also emulated stunningly in the decor at the celebration. Incidentally, this temple is considered very sacred by the client's family. The very private affair took 2 months of exhaustive planning, designing and execution. Artisans from Kolkata, Jaipur and Udaipur were roped in and worked round the clock to meet the expectations of both families. Founded in Kolkata in 1998, Celebrations headquartered in Punealso has offices in Kolkata and Bangalore. Celebrations is a ‘Womb to Tomb’ company enjoying a Pan India reach with an in-house design team, production, logistics, rental and travel assistance set up to execute weddings and events in India and abroad.

THE KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN HOSTS ITS FIRST EVER DESI WEDDING! Seven Steps and Tamarind Global were the official wedding planning and management agencies that were responsible for executing this spectacular 3-day affair at the island which took place across Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton.
T
he Kingdom of Bahrain was an undiscovered destination for Indian Weddings. However, with this recent 3-day extravaganza being hosted successfully, who knows if Bahrain has opened its door to the gigantic world of Indian weddings. The celebrations as part of this wedding took place from April 26 to 29, 2017 at the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton hotels. The Mehendi, Arabic Fest and the Wedding took place at the Four Seasons and were executed by Seven Steps. While, the Sangeet took place at Ritz Carlton and was produced by Tamarind Global. As confirmed by the management of Seven Steps and Tamarind Global, right from the Royal Family to the government, the tourism board to the hotels, everyone involved at every level, did everything possible in their means to make the working experience a very smooth and memorable one. 22
Here’s a detailed round-up of all the celebrations that were hosted by the client.
The Welcome Lunch
The festivities started with an intimate welcome lunch for close family and friends of the couple. Attendees enjoyed a delectable lunch over speeches along with a performance by Jessica Manuputty’s Amsterdam Band; a great beginning to a fun filled 3-day celebration.
The Beautiful Mala Mehendi
The Mehendi was the beginning of the auspicious ceremonies. The design for the Mehendi was ideated based on the setting of a Palatial courtyard. A pastel palette of a lovely peach pink and olive green was accentuated with gold. A candle-lit niche wall made for the main stage adorned by a center panel made of a custom-tailored gold zardozi peacock backdrop.

Encircling the entire ballroom were sheer, hand embroidered drapes, offset with bejeweled hand-crafted panels dotted intricately with pearls and jewels. The ballroom ceiling was covered with 160,000 feet of floral drops, interspersed with hand embroidered zardozi tassels. Vedic chants were being sung through the ceremony by the inimitable folk singer Kishore Manraja. This was followed by a fantastically choreographed family sangeet and the traditional Gujarati, Raas Garba.
The Amazing Arabic Fest
As the family wanted to give guests an authentic Bahraini souk experience, Seven Steps brought in the best of Bahrain at this Arabic Fest. The unique experience saw authentic food vendors, spice stalls, trinket sellers and a myriad mix of Arabic talent like Oud players, Sufi whirling dervishes, swirlers and more, To add to the fun, magicians, tarot readers, palmists and illusionists were also brought in to keep the guests engaged.
The Stunning Sangeet
One of the highlights of the wedding was the glamourous and fantastical Sangeet which started at dusk and went on till dawn! With a theme of white and crystals, the mesmerizing venue was beautified by 4 magnificent crystal-clad pyramids of a height of 24 feet enclosing white lounge seating. The walkway to the island was dotted with various experiential artists such as a steel percussionist, wind dancers, pixel poi and many more, all leading to an exquisite art deco tunnel

opening onto the island. There was decking of 20,000 square feet with a stunning Venetian carousal bar lit up with lifesized horses. To cap the spirits, an exclusive Japanese and Scottish malt and cigar bar with vintage malts and Cubans adorned the shore of the island with a cozy chesterfield round seating. Special moulded ice cubes swirling in crystal tumblers only added to the ambience. A lavish F&B spread was interspersed all around the island with elegant white round table seating. There was a 1500 square-foot stage built over the water with an eye-catching LED dance floor where singers Salim and Sulaiman delivered a sensational performance. Speaking of Tamarind Global’s work on this project, Kunal Rai, Head - Events and Weddings elaborated, “Bahrain was awed by the scale and allure of this event. The island was truly transformed into a magical spectacle with a level of detailing that one does not come by often.”
The Royal Indo-Arabic Water-side Wedding
If the Baraat was a riot of fun with the groom’s best buddies dancing the day away, the Bridal entry on a 400-year old dhow, with ceremonial beats from the Bahraini Talking Drums and Jonita Gandhi’s soulful songs was truly ethereal.

It was a pleasure and an honour to host the Kingdom’s first ever destination wedding from India on April 27 this year. The ceremony was a true fairytale that hosted over 1000 guests in our property sitting amidst lush gardens and overlooking the serene Manama Bay with breath-taking views of both the city and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Gulf. The wedding décor was a stunning conception of a royal Indo Arabic water-side wedding. The bride entered through a 150 feet long floral carpet on the pier. The Varmaala dome was a beautiful garden portico with Indo-Arabic mosaic patterns while a traditional Bedouin tent made for the bridal lounge.

However, as it should have been, the wedding mandap was the showstopper – a spectacular mirror mosaic open dome, with Indian and Arabic design detailing, built in the infinity pool to depict a floating mandap, combining the auspicious elements of water and fire! A fireworks display, choreographed to the couple’s favourite track, was like no other ever seen in Bahrain as it culminated the wedding ceremony.

MtoM worked on every sequence with diligence, including fun activities like beach sports and cricket tournaments for the bride and groom’s families, which served to be a great ice-breaker and paved the way for the festive atmosphere on the rest of the days. The party in the middle of the desert was spectacular and the most memorable for all the guests. The performance by Salim-Suleiman was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all. A unique LED Mandap was created with content that was specially designed to run while the wedding ceremony took place. The reception at the golf course had the most unique décor wherein 3D projection mapping was done on a 150-foot structure and on the bride’s white gown! After having spent two decades in the leisure and tourism industry which involved executing some very large format events, Aarti Manocha launched Milestones to Memories with the vision of creating a global brand in the wedding management space, shaped by her experience and passion. THE COUPLE Anusha Patel and Dhrumil Sejpal from Mumbai are not just connoisseurs of good design, but party planners and set designers themselves. Speaking of the client brief, wedding designer, Devika Narain explains, "For their wedding, they wanted a design unique to their minimal sensibilities which also appealed to their families' Gujrati heritage, so they reached out to us." THE MOROCCAN MEHENDI The Moroccan-inspired Mehendi took place at the Al Bandar Lawns. The colour palette was inspired by the colours of the water in Oman–Shades of sea foam and aqua are offset with lime and a hint of pink. The vibe was chilled, as cabanas with low seating were interspersed with tables in the lawns. The dance floor was fashioned around Arabic tiles and a large fountain filled with hydrangeas stood in the centre of it. THE ELEGANT SANGEET For the sangeet, Devika Narain & Co wanted to create an experience of chic royalty for this evening; something that represents the new age maharaja, minimal and opulent at the same time. Guests are made to believe that they are at the Sultan’s house for the dinner and the entire ballroom is converted into his dining quarters - the walls represent the old over the top style of Arabic architecture with jaalis and arches. 30

THE DREAMY WEDDING The groom wanted the wedding mandap to be the focal point of the entire afternoon. Set against the serene aqua waters, the cream and gold mandap was custom made in India. An aisle of pink roses and hydrangeas led to the ceremony area which was draped in calla lilies and glass bells. THE ORGANIC RECEPTION The reception had a drastically different design from the other functions. Working with a palette of greens, a large tent was constructed in the lawns and draped in mirrors. The central dance floor had a hanging cake installation, while hand-embroidered napkins and beautiful white flowers defined the tables.

The Royal Fiesta
There could not have been a more stunning setting to kickstart the festivities than the Palace Dome. True to its name, the celebration was indeed a ‘Royal Fiesta’. At this stately outdoor venue, all arriving guests were welcomed in the most robust manner with Rio carnival dancers who added a vibrant energy to the proceedings. A vivacious Salsa band played out party classics taking turns with DJ Aman jamming with live percussionists.
A Sky Full of Stars
The most innovatively themed Sangeet party came bursting to life in full splendour at the outdoor setting of the Palace Beach. The look and feel was styled keeping ‘Miami meets Havana’ as the focal inspiration; and pulled off with great flair. The wow factor was evident in glorious flourishes throughout, right from ‘flamingo’ installations to lush tropical prints to dramatic neon. To top it all, the evening featured electrifying performances by both sides of the families, led by the charismatic Abhishek Bachchan! An Electro-Sufi band and the DJ also worked some sublime magic to keep all guests on their toes.

The Power-Packed Baraat & Wedding Ceremony
The most traditional and aesthetically refined Wedding ceremony took place at Palace Terrace, overlooking the gorgeous Abu Dhabi waters. Everything about it spelt ‘extraordinary’. For starters, there was the groom’s Baraat, which was high on energy and spirit. It was a tough act to beat. But the feisty Bride had an ace up her sleeve, her own Baraat. It played out with great timing, panache and drama. Together with her consort (cousin Abhishek Bachchan) she pulled up right in front of the mandap on an elegant horse-chariot, accompanied by friends and cousins dancing away boisterously.
A Night to Remember
The gala Reception was truly a grand finale of the legendary variety. The Palace Ballroom made resplendent in a never-seenbefore ‘Classic-meets-Contemporary’ turnaround that screamed out “WOW”! Guests were individually seated in bespoke-styled settings and treated to a soulful performance by the maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Eventually, the dance floor became the center of attention as all revelers got together for one last burst of celebration that outshone everything else!

TURKISH AIRLINES: FROM INDIA TO SLOVAKIA Turkish Airlines operates flights from both Delhi and Bombay to Istanbul, as well as from Istanbul to Vienna, which is the nearest international airport to Kosice. From there passengers can either take a flight which would take about an hour, or get there via alternative transport, depending on their itinerary.

Cities like Kosice and Bratislava in Slovakia may not be as wellknown as wedding destinations as neighbouring European cities Prague, Vienna and Budapest. But they are gradually increasing in popularity, with their splendid offerings and unique local flavor. And not without reason.

FANTASTIC FUSION! The F&B at this Delhi wedding was curated by Fork And Spoon and saw an inspiring mix of traditional and contemporary cuisines and presentation ideas being showcased at the same time. Fork and Spoon designed and put together a very interesting F&B experience for a recent high profile Delhi wedding.
The venue was divided into a closed banqueting space as well as open air lawns. The inside air-conditioned banquet saw a variety of authentic Indian cuisines from different parts of the country, while, the luscious green lawns offered Teppanyaki stations, European Grills, Wood Oven Pizzas, an exotic Fruit Counter and lots more! Presentation and display was kept rustic and vintage in the outdoor areas and traditional Indian styling was used in the indoor space.
An offbeat mix of traditional and contemporary concepts were on display in terms of cuisines as well as presentation.

In an exclusive interview with Experiential Celebrations, Bhavnesh Sawhney, Director, Wedniksha, reveals details on how a project of this scale, with its unique challenges of being a cruise wedding, is managed with finesse. Excerpts below: How did the idea of a cruise wedding come about? The client always dreamed of hosting his son’s wedding on a cruise. Wedniksha was brought on board from the very initial stages, to conceptualise and execute this dream wedding. We had to help the client realize this dream and turn it into reality. From exploring different cruise options to conceptualising the wedding around the ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ theme, and executing all aspects of this wedding, Wedniksha was involved in the process from the word “Go”! What were the unique challenges of planning a Cruise Wedding at this scale? This entire wedding was organised through a period of 4 months and had a team of 40 professionals that took charge of the decor, entertainment, logistics, hospitality and overall management of the 4-day grand affair. Considering this wedding was a first of its kind, and something like this had never been done before, it was challenging to deliver such an ostentatious wedding in a 4-month time crunch. However, Wedniksha and the team worked with sheer determination, day in and day out, to produce the best possible results for our clients. Most of the guests, artistes and celebrities boarded the cruise from the first day itself, but we had some guests boarding the cruise from other destinations on subsequent days as well. The logistics 44
management of such big scale events is always the greatest challenge. Now with the added layer of being on a cruise-line that’s traveling from one destination to the other during the celebrations! As far as we know, this is a first of its kind concept, of a cruise wedding and so there was no precedence whatsoever to gain experience or learn from. But our experience of managing challenging projects allowed us to work through this challenge with success and set the precedence for many more such weddings to happen in the future. Additionally, given the A-list guest-list, the stature of the wedding family and the numbers of celebrities on-board, the security arrangement for this wedding also had to be customised to the highest level. The Costa Cruise team was very helpful and accommodating with their security policies. Wedniksha and the Cruise Team worked collaboratively in an exceptional way to ensure the security arrangements were never compromised. What unique expertise did Wedniksha bring on board for the success of this wedding? We have always been known to excel in destination weddings across the globe. Over the years, with attaining experience from organising weddings around the world, Wedniksha has built lifelong relationships with vendors, spread out in every destination. This made it easier for us to provide to the clients every aspect they desired as these vendors have been well-versed with requirements of a Big Fat Indian Wedding. We worked with local vendors from every destination that we visited in terms of decor and entertainment.

here are a lot of ways to define Manasi Scott; she is a Singer, Actor, Firebrand Performer and even an acknowledged Dancer. A versatile music sensation who paved the way for live entertainment at events in India ever since her debut, Manasi has, over the years, proven to the world that a true talent rises like a phoenix, whatever the medium of entertainment. In an exclusive interview with ExCel, Manasi talks about her journey in the music industry, her inspiration and what her audiences can expect from her in the future. As an artist, you have donned multiple hats over the years. Be it acting, writing or singing, you have excelled in everything. But which of these is the closest to your heart and why? Being an artist I enjoy everything, but the closest to my heart is musical theater, because singing live, in character, without the chance of a second take, is magical and I really enjoy that. As a LIVE performing artist in the events domain, what is that one thing that challenges and excites you? I think for every artist the real challenge is always to make the audience have the time of their lives. The real excitement lies in the fact that how so many people unite in joy with music. What inspires your music and makes you a firebrand on stage? My son inspires me to always do better, be more creative and excel at everything that I do. I fervently believe that the stage is about honesty. It's a place you must earn. Live performances require so much more than studio singing and the fact that my audiences enjoy my music as much as I enjoy performing makes me what I am. What is more fun - performing at corporate events or weddings and why? I really can’t pick a genre of event as I completely enjoy both of these. By God's grace, my audiences have been fabulous and I treasure every experience when I get on the stage.

Please share with us some of your most memorable experiences on stage. I recently performed at the Venetian in Vegas and being called on for an encore by the audience was an amazing feeling. Also, I got the chance to perform in Ghana and Kazakhstan and those were strangely exciting destinations to fly out to. Being awarded the Femina Powerlist for my contribution to live entertainment, performing at the Saawan Utsav in Rajasthan which was concerts for women-only audiences, the world tour I did in 2005 and all my shows Australia are some of my fondest memories as an artist. Your album Manasi- the Ideal Woman was launched last year and earned tremendous applause from all corners. What's your current focus and what can your fans expect from you in the future? I love composing my own songs, writing them with others, collaborating with others, producing music. So currently, I'm doing more of that. Also, there's an English album in the offing, a web series and of course my concerts. So yes, there is a lot to be excited about.

Big Fat Punjab Wedding by Shaadionline Sees Decor by Sumant Jayakrishnan, F&B by Marut Sikka Neha Gupta, the daughter of Rajinder Gupta, Chairman, Trident Group, a business conglomerate headquartered in Ludhiana, married Ishaan Bector, the son of Anoop Bector, MD, Cremica Group's bakery and biscuit unit in an extravagant 2-day wedding in Ludhiana. This absolutely clean, sophisticated Reception designed and produced by Selvatico Events reflects love! The simplicity of the white acrylic stage with blue lights, the fragnance of the fresh white roses resting on a glass box and a 'mashrabiya' table (as they call it in Dubai) made the entire setting so pristine and just apt for that special day! The wish tree on the stage, was adorned with orchids, cherry blossom and crystals, showcased everything the theme demanded with a reflection in the glass mirror behind it. A RAJASTHANI START Festivities began with a traditional Marwari ceremony called Myra. The event theme was Rajasthani-Padharo Mare Desh. The dress code as well as the colour palette used in the decor was yellow and pink. Ghoomar dancers, traditional folk singers, mehendi artists, lac bangle makers, nail art professionals, parrot readers, etc kept the guests entertained. Decor also featured traditional Rajasthani elements. The couple entered with a band on an open cycle accompanied by dholwala’s. The ladies indulged in some Garba dances to the tunes of the folk singers. A traditional Marwari Sajanogth Lunch with silver ware and a huge variety of traditional food was on offer for the guests. A ‘FIRANGI’ LUNCHEON The following day, a Firangi themed Luncheon showcased decor that was very English with lots of floral elements. Delightful sunshine and pastel colours adorned the venue. A huge sunglass cut-out was used as the photo booth. Activities like Ring toss, Jenga, Caricature etc kept the guests entertained.
