LAWYERS

The Wigger Law Firm

Festive Office ❑ ❑ The easiest and quickest way to decorate for the holidays is to hang a holiday wreath on your door or window - or both! ❑ ❑ If you have a mantel or staircase in your office, fill it with beautiful garland. You can add lights or ornaments for a little extra dazzle. ❑ ❑ If you don’t have space in your office for a Christmas tree, find a decorative pot and fill it with beautiful branches (spray painted or natural) and moss. Hang ornaments from the branches and you have a gorgeous centerpiece. Source: Ginger Brewton, Interior Designer

TIME MANAGEMENT TIPS Assess ❑ E valuate your perception of time: do you tend to think things take more time or less time then they actually do? Plan accordingly. ❑ I dentify your “time sucks” - the activities that are wasting your time. ❑ I dentify what can/cannot give.

Organize ❑ C reate systems for how you work/live, not for how you wish you worked and lived. ❑ O bserve the natural rhythms of your schedule, and institute organization solutions that accommodate your norm instead of enforcing solutions that are not working. ❑ G et everyone on board (family, co-workers) and regularly review your systems. ❑ U se technology and take the time to learn it. We Recommend: • Google Drive - Online File Storage; Project Management • 1Password (mac and pc) - Password Storage & Protection • Hootsuite - Social Media Support

Prioritize ❑ B eing busy is not the same as being productive. ❑ K eep your to do items organized and updated as assignments are received. Review it every morning, then revise it again mid day using a system to assign tasks so that the most important work is getting done. ❑ C hange the goal of work/life balance to work/life effectiveness. Talk with your employer about flexibility in the workplace.

Delegate ❑ I f it doesn’t bring you money or happiness, consider delegating it to an expert, a colleague or a family member. ❑ T ake advantage of offers for support and assistance and return the favor when possible.

Focus & Act ❑ C reate a schedule for your day and stick to it. ❑ L ose the distractions and stop “multitasking.” ❑ C heck your email and phone messages during set times - 2 - 3 times per day. If you’re constantly adding more items to your task list, you will never accomplish what you have started. ❑ S top putting the same items on your list. Either do it, delegate it, or delete it. ❑ S top wasting time. Say "yes" to meetings, projects and endeavors that are fulfilling and move you towards your career goals.

RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES

Sandpiper Retirement Community

Holiday Healthy ‘Tis the season to be...sick, tired and stressed? Avoid these 5 seasonal health woes. ❑ ❑ Stress: Identify the causes of your stress, create strategies and solutions to mitigate or eliminate stressors and find healthy ways to help relieve your anxiety. ❑ Diet & Exercise: From holiday parties with festive cocktails to family meals, fill your plate with lots of healthy, fresh vegetables and fruit and have small portions of the decadent stuff. Make time in your schedule daily activity that gets your blood pumping. ❑ Cold & Flu: Stave off the “ick” by washing your hands, getting plenty of rest and exercise, dressing properly for colder temperatures and getting your seasonal vaccines. ❑ Depression: Be gentle on yourself and engage in activities that make you feel your best like volunteering or taking a yoga class. Take deep breaths and be mindful of treating your body well. Seek support from a friend or professional when you need it. ❑ Skin Care: Apply sunscreen. A hot shower will dry out your skin; use warm water instead. Throw out that bar of soap and switch to a moisturizing body wash. Drink plenty of water.

Mighty Magnolia From Thanksgiving to New Years, the magnolia leaf is the perfect anchor for holiday decor with a few adjustments to make it just right. ❑ Fresh leaves will last for about 4 - 6 weeks before turning brown. If you want the green look to last, invest in faux leaves, wreaths or runners. If using fresh leaves, you can spray paint browned leaves a metallic color for a beautiful aesthetic. ❑ For Thanksgiving, tuck and attach pinecones, acorns and feathers to your wreath or runner. Arrange decorative gourds or pumpkins on a bed of leaves or in the center of a wreath placed on the table. ❑ Use magnolia leaves as individual place cards. With a metallic pen, write on the green or golden underside for a beautiful look. You can also spray paint them beforehand with gold or sliver spray paint and use a black or white pen to achieve a different look. ❑ For Christmas, mix individual leaves into evergreens. Insert ornaments, lights, dried/faux fruits and/or nuts to create a rich, textured look. Use burlap garland and red ribbon to complete the look. ❑ Spray paint leaves gold or silver and tuck in oranges and tangerines (Chinese New Year symbols of happiness and prosperity) and/or pussy willow branches (symbolic of birth or renewal). Kumquats will be in season and look lovely!
