Assess ❑ E valuate your perception of time: do you tend to think things take more time or less time then they actually do? Plan accordingly. ❑ I dentify your “time sucks” - the activities that are wasting your time. ❑ I dentify what can/cannot give.

Organize ❑ C reate systems for how you work/live, not for how you wish you worked and lived. ❑ O bserve the natural rhythms of your schedule, and institute organization solutions that accommodate your norm instead of enforcing solutions that are not working. ❑ G et everyone on board (family, co-workers) and regularly review your systems. ❑ U se technology and take the time to learn it. We Recommend: • Google Drive - Online File Storage; Project Management • 1Password (mac and pc) - Password Storage & Protection • Hootsuite - Social Media Support

Prioritize ❑ B eing busy is not the same as being productive. ❑ K eep your to do items organized and updated as assignments are received. Review it every morning, then revise it again mid day using a system to assign tasks so that the most important work is getting done. ❑ C hange the goal of work/life balance to work/life effectiveness. Talk with your employer about flexibility in the workplace.

Delegate ❑ I f it doesn’t bring you money or happiness, consider delegating it to an expert, a colleague or a family member. ❑ T ake advantage of offers for support and assistance and return the favor when possible.

Focus & Act ❑ C reate a schedule for your day and stick to it. ❑ L ose the distractions and stop “multitasking.” ❑ C heck your email and phone messages during set times - 2 - 3 times per day. If you’re constantly adding more items to your task list, you will never accomplish what you have started. ❑ S top putting the same items on your list. Either do it, delegate it, or delete it. ❑ S top wasting time. Say "yes" to meetings, projects and endeavors that are fulfilling and move you towards your career goals.

It’s easier than ever to stream content rather than paying out a lot of money for cable packages that often include channels you do not watch. Here is a brief primer on making the cut. ❑ Assess your viewing habits: what do you watch the most (sports, kids shows, network television, etc)? What is the most important and what can you live with/without? ❑ Determine what option or combination of options best meet your needs: • O ver-the-Air Broadcasts: a digital TV Antenna will allow you to watch all local/regional channels. Learn more: www.antennaweb.org • I nternet-Ready Streaming Device: Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku and the like deliver content from subscription sites like Netflix, Hulu, MLBTV, HBO Now and more to your television. The device connects your television to the internet and provides a user interface for you to easily access the content. • The Computer You Already Own: Free TV and movies abound on sites like Hulu or any of the networks’ official web sites. • Home Entertainment Server: The ultimate setup allowing you to access all of your movies, music, photos and any other files you have stored on basically - a big hard drive. You’ll need at least some technical know-how or ambition. A great intro is found here: http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/a/what-is-a-media-server.htm

Quick Stain Fixes To get out those tough grass or dirt stains, cover the stained area with liquid dish soap. The soap’s degreasing action loosens the culprit of grass stains: chlorophyll proteins. Then, just rub the soap in on both sides of the fabric and let it sit for an hour, rinse with cool water and then wash normally. When knees and elbows get scraped, an easy and effective way to remove blood stains from fabric: pour hydrogen peroxide on the stain, let bubble and rinse. Repeat until the stain is gone.

RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES

Sandpiper Retirement Community

Women’s Brain Health According to the Women’s Brain Health Initiative, almost 70% of new Alzheimer’s sufferers will be women. Evidence suggests that the “use it or lose it” philosophy applies to brain function. Try these mentally stimulating exercises daily to help reduce the risk of cognitive decline and related diseases: ❑ Engage in good conversation talking about thought provoking topics. ❑ Read a good book stimulating your imagination. ❑ Play “old school” games like puzzles, chess or cryptograms. ❑ Work with numbers; put down the calculator. ❑ Keep learning - practice a new language, subscribe to a word of the day newsletter, engage in history or take an art class. ❑ And as with any system in your body, proper nutrition, adequate sleep and regular exercise are essential for good brain, and overall, health. www.womensbrainhealth.org
