This is the time of year where you may start to turn the heaters on and off. While riding in the car, always remember to keep the heat vents turned away from your skin. Heaters can absorb the natural moisture from your skin and dry it out, so remember to keep the heat vents off of your face.

SCHEDULE YO UR SEA SO NA L FA CIA L The ideal individual with healthy skin does not see their skin-care pro every month (not unless they choose to and their budget allows) but the average person should see their skin-care professional at least four times a year for routine cleaning and maintenance. Think about it, would you go all year without a routine teeth cleaning? Probably not, so give your skin the same attention and let a pro handle your routine cleanings.

EX PECT CHA NGES AAs the seasons unfold, it is normal to experience changes in the skin. The key is being prepared with the right tools and products to combat the changes. Changes might include adjusting your cleanser and moisturizer, so be prepared to adjust your routine and to spend a few extra bucks to accommodate seasonal changes in your skin.

Mimi Faust

Who? What? Where can I buy that shower rod? Those were the questions that were on everyone’s minds when Mimi Faust’s sex tape hit the web. We’re used to seeing the Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta star on the small screen, but she threw us for a loop when her rendezvous with on-again-off-again boyfriend, Nikko Smith, went public! From the passionate kissing to the countless sex positions, nothing could prepare us for this “Scandal in Atlanta.” And from the looks of it, Mimi’s closest friends weren’t anticipating the adult video either. She was quickly put under fire by Ariane Davis and Erica Dixon, who accused Nikko of being the mastermind behind it all. However, the biggest explosion came from Mimi’s ex, Stevie J, who threatened to take full custody of their daughter, Eva. Despite the negative backlash, Mimi stood firm with her decision, which caught many by surprise. Not to mention that she admitted to shooting additional footage for her “homemade” sex tape, so she could sell it. The biggest question is how Mimi is going to explain the sex tape to her daughter. Luckily, she has a couple years before she has to cross that burden. Mimi, you definitely shocked us this summer, we’re glad you’re chilling now.

Floyd Mayweather

We’re used to Floyd Mayweather turning it up in the ring, but lately he’s been taking it to the streets. One of Floyd’s biggest antics came when he got into a scuffle with T.I. in Las Vegas, which stemmed from the undefeated boxer’s friendly relationship with the King of the South’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris. Eventually, the frustrations cooled down, but Floyd wasn’t finish stirring the pot. After finding out that his ex-fiancé, Miss Jackson, had moved on to greener pastures, he definitely wasn’t happy about it—especially because she found comfort in the arms of rapper Nelly. So, what did Floyd do? He went all the way in on Miss Jackson, exposing her past abortions and plastic surgery. Then he called Nelly a “washed up rapper.” But it only gets worse from there! 50 Cent decided to chime in on Floyd’s lady issues by mimicking his interviews. He even challenged Money Mayweather to a “read off challenge.” Though Floyd may not be that great with literacy, he’s perfect at math, which is why he shut 50 down by posting checks from his last two fights, totaling a whopping $72,276,000.00. Floyd definitely strikes flames, but you better believe he can back it up. With that said, chill out in the streets and turn up the heat in the ring!

Entertainment

Nene Leakes

There’s only room for one ‘HBIC’ in the Real Housewives of Atlanta camp, and you better believe that Mrs.Nene Leakes is hanging on to that title! The “Glee” star definitely wasn’t in the mood to play games with her casemates this season, which often left her looking like a villain. Nene instigated the biggest housewives fight ever between Phaedra Parks’ husband, Apollo Nida, and Kenya Moore’s friend, Brandon. Then, she threw major shade at a charity event hosted in her honor by none other than former Miss USA, Kenya. The tensions only rose when she said that her former best friend’s husband, Peter Thomas, was acting like a female dog. And on top of that, she took to her blog to say that Cynthia basically ended their friendship for a check. We’re glad that Nene had major success with her HSN clothing line and “Dancing with the Star” run because this RHOA drama is too much for one person. We definitely get a kick out of a good old-fashion Nene Leakes read, but we have to admit that she was a little too turnt this season. It’ll be interesting to see if Nene or her alter-ego, Nae Nae, will reign on season seven of RHOA.

Chris Brown

It seems like a day couldn’t go by without Chris Brown’s name in a headline. From getting kicked out of anger management to being sent to prison, Breezy certainly had a tough year. So, when he finally finished his prison stint we expected things to go over smoothly. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen like that. Just weeks after his welcome home party, he was at odds ends with longtime girlfriend, Karrueche Tran. The two even went as far as to delete each other off their social media accounts. Of course, they got back together, but you know there will be more drama stemming from this relationship. With his girl back on his side and his hit singles “Loyal” and “Don’t Tell Em’” heating up the airways, Breezy seems to be unstoppable. He even linked up with former foe, Drake, for a collaboration just two years after they got into a brawl at a NYC nightclub. We’re happy that Chris is in better spirits these days. He’s even gearing up for a tour with Trey Songz. We hope Breezy keeps chilling because when he’s hot, he burns!

Lil Kim

From snapbacks to clapbacks, Lil Kim didn’t hold anything back this summer! After having her daughter Royal Reign, you would think that the Queen Bee would be too busy basking in motherhood. But no, this hot mama came back ready to sting. And it all started when she hopped on Beyonce’s “Flawless” remix featuring Nicki Minaj. First, Kim dissed the YMCMB frontrunner for proclaiming that she was the “Queen a Rap.” Then, she released a diss track called “Identity Theft,” in which she insisted that Nicki stole her style. But hold on, that’s not it! Kim then cut ties with K. Michelle after she supported her arch nemesis via twitter. The Queen of Brooklyn definitely doesn’t mind calling out her opponents, which was the perfect ammunition for her highly-anticipated mixtape, “Hard Core.” From remixing “No Flex Zone” to getting “Fancy” with Iggy Azalea, Kimmy definitely proved that she still has bars! However, many fans aren’t able to look past her beef with Nicki to hear her greatness. The Queen Bee’s sting is definitely vicious, but maybe one day she’ll get rid of her stinger and come to an amicable agreement with Nicki. Until then, just chill out and make great music. m

every girl loves m a Great Ending

Sometimes it’s ok to be Selfish Love and Hip Hop New York’s, Tara Wallace Talks with Precious, The Modern Therapist I had the opportunity to sit down with the distinguished and beautiful Taranasha Wallace from Love and Hip Hop New York to talk about the last season of Love and Hip Hop NY and moving forward after the heartbreak of ending her relationship with longtime boyfriend, Peter Gunz. In true Tara fashion, she was not afraid to tell the unrelenting truth and be completely transparent about how she feels about the newest addition to the Peter Gunz tribe, the deception and disruption of her family and the difficulties in her healing process. Tara also shared her insight and perspective on how women can fall for the idea of a man as opposed to the reality of the man and how women tend to let fear keep them from ending a relationship. And in the end we got to find out who is the real Tara Wallace and what we can expect to see from her in the future.

By Precious Avorkliyah, LCSW Psychotherapist and Emotional Wellness Consultant

www.everythinggirlslove.com

Feature As Tara recounted the events of last season of LHHNY, she remembered feeling that she experienced “blow after blow” which has dramatically affected the progression of her healing process. Tara shared that she is still healing and dealing with the deception because it was just when she thought she was healing from finding out that Peter was unfaithful that she found out he was actually married. Then when she began to heal from the reality of the marriage she found out there was a baby and now she is processing and working through it all. But as Tara shared on last season’s reunion show, there is one truth which has helped her in the healing process, but has also been the hardest pill to swallow; and that is the revelation that “no matter how good I have been to this man or how much I tried to give, it could not make him be a better man”. Tara now realizes that much like other women she may have continued to try to salvage the relationship not only because of the power of love but also because of the fear of starting over or feeling that you’ve failed in the relationship. But even with this realization, Tara shares that she has learned from the last year of her life that she doesn’t have to always have everything together. We as women always try to give so much to the men we love and our children which allows us to fall into the habit of neglecting ourselves. Well Tara is now embracing the experience of taking care of her; and wants to encourage all women to remember to “do what you have to do for you”!

www.everythinggirlslove.com

Tara is working on many different projects and is excited to show the LHHNY audience that there are many different layers to Taranasha Wallace. Tara may have been portrayed as being one dimensional last season, but she plans to showcase more of her talents and her all around fun loving, light hearted, comical personality. Tara is making her mark as a trained actress by appearing in a number of stage plays. She recently starred in an off Broadway stage play called “Jury Duty” and is also preparing for her next stage play, “My Husbands Mistress Is Me” alongside fellow reality star Sundy Carter from Basketball Wives LA in Flint Michigan on September thirteenth. But that’s not all! Tara has written a children’s book which talks about a sensitive and personal issue of explaining divorce/separation to young children. Tara shared in the interview that while her two sons, age 2 and age 6, are not yet aware that she and their father are separated and there is a new sibling, she and Peter are coming together to strategize on the best way to share that information with their children. Tara added that while it is such an ugly reality to share with her children, she just wants to do it when it’s right for them, not just when it is easier for her. In thinking about what Tara will teach her two sons about relationships in the future, she indicated that she just hopes that she can raise them to be honest across the board, “so that they feel free and give others the freedom to love freely and make choices based on the reality of situations”.

No matter how good I have been to this man or how much I tried to give, it could not make him be a better man”.

Feature To add to these other projects, Tara is also a brand ambassador for the My Extensionz hair brand and is working on establishing a Media Training consulting firm. We hope that we may see a relationship book from Tara one day as well, and when we asked, she did confirm that she has thought about it and believes that it may be a potential future project. Tara is building a brand that is consistent with her honest and genuine personality and we’re very excited to see her continue to flourish. And for all of you who are wondering….Yes Tara is dating, but she is just enjoying herself at this time and again DOING WHAT SHE NEEDS TO DO FOR HER! As Tara and I concluded our discussion, I asked her to share the most difficult challenge to her personal growth and she said, “Knowing when to close my eyes and jump”. Tara explained that just being okay with not having everything together and just taking a leap of faith and knowing that things will work out fine. Precious, The Modern Therapist shares advice on how to ‘Close Your Eyes and Jump’: I think this is challenge that most women share. We want to know that if we jump without looking, that there

would be several layers of net to catch us, and furthermore we want to know its success rate and anything else we feel will reinforce our will to jump. But, what we all must find out at some point is that sometimes we have to just trust ourselves. The reality is that regardless of how much you research and how much effort you put forth to make your next venture work, it still will not be guaranteed. But what we can trust is our own resilience. In most cases, we have already shown and proven to ourselves that regardless of tough times, limited support and emotional despair we can and will get back up again. If we remind ourselves that if it doesn’t work out, we will still find a way to achieve our goals, then closing our eyes and jumping becomes less fear invoking. Go for it Tara! m If you will like to Ask Precious, The Modern Therapist for advice, please email her at precious@everythinggirlslove.com with the subject line: Ask Precious. Learning about your issue and ways to prevent contracting it again and spreading it to others

the correct keyword/terms is important. You might misdiagnosis yourself by entering to much or too little, and/or might not diagnosis yourself accurately. A doctor may have to use Google but they know what to search for. The pros and cons to using google to selfdiagnosis are as follows:

Finding inaccurate information from noncredible sources The Pew Research Internet Project states, “61% of Americans Google their symptoms.” It is inevitable the numbers rise throughout the years. The majority of people I know either google their symptoms before visiting a doctor or Google the doctor’s prognosis after the visit. The World Wide Web is an amazing tool to use but it is also important to rely on professionals for the rest. So google away and visit your doctor with tons of questions about your findings.

he term ‘Google it’ has become the universal statement for look it up. Google has become the dictionary, encyclopedia and now a medical source. Before the internet took over simply going to a doctor for a diagnosis was the way to go. Unfortunately, in today’s world people google their symptoms and wait for googles diagnosis, before they step foot in a doctor’s office. Googling your symptom is the new norm but is it wise?

Andrea Kelly There’s more than what meets the eye when it comes to Hollywood Exes Star Andrea Kelly. A mother and business woman, Kelly has a lot on her plate these days and has gone through struggles that so many other women have endured. EGL had a real girl talk session with Kelly and did things get real! She talks being married to R. Kelly, getting through her divorce and finding herself in the end.

www.everythinggirlslove.com

Feature EGL: What was it like being on Hollywood Exes and having your life on display for the whole world to see for the first time? How did that change for you the second time around? Andrea Kelly: Oh my goodness, it was one of the most amazing opportunities I’ve had to date besides motherhood. And I say that because my life was kind of that double-edged sword. I think that I was that phantom wife. She’s like Santa Claus. He drops off and no one ever sees it happen. People were like, “What? R Kelly was married?” All of a sudden, I pop up on Hollywood Exes. People in the industry and close to us knew that he was married, but on the outskirts, they did not [know]. But I think now in hindsight, that was such a blessing because I came out to the world with a blank canvas and it allowed me to paint any colors I wanted to on that canvas, unlike some women who’ve already been in the tabloids. People have preconceived notions of who they think you are because of things they’ve read or pictures they’ve seen or things that they’ve heard in gossip tabloids. So for me, it was my introduction to the world and I think people got to know Drea by knowing just Drea, no outside sources.

I think that I was that phantom wife.

EGL: You had an interview with another magazine and you talked about your marriage not being on display to the public eye and people not really knowing who you were or what was going on in your private life. Do you find that’s the route that celebrity couples take nowadays? Andrea Kelly: I think it’s more common now because you do have social media and the access to your private life being on the Internet. People and paparazzi are allowed to take pictures of your kids now. Back in those old, golden Hollywood days they just took pictures of the stars and it was just great just to see you. Now, they’re going through your garbage, I mean, it’s all kind of crazy stuff. It’s just the Wild, Wild West now. So I think that people are now reverting back to holding on to as much of their privacy as they can.

EGL: How did you manage to keep such a positive attitude throughout season one and season two of Hollywood Exes? Andrea Kelly: I’m Drea focused. I am about being self-reflective and accepting responsibility. It’s about looking inward to yourself. I stay positive because there might be five things I don’t like about somebody, but best believe Jesus got about twenty-five things on his list of things you do wrong every single day that he don’t like about you. I’m grown, honey. The last time I had a fight I also had a lunch box. We may not like each other, but as a woman I’m going to respect you. I love hard, I protect even harder. I don’t play games when it comes to my friendships and my sisterhood and I think that it has become a game in society. Right now, it’s about who can be the loudest, who can be the most obnoxious, who can be the biggest bully and people misconstrue that as standing up for yourself.

young girl’s and even older women watching you. It doesn’t end an hour later when your show goes off the air. It doesn’t end at the end of your season. There are girls out here emulating the way you act in regular, everyday life. You have to know whether you like it or not. Another thing that’s different about our show, [which] someone took offense to in another interview, is we come from entertainment royalty, and that’s the truth. We weren’t married to one-hit-wonders. Eddie Murphy was not like, “Oh, all his films flopped.” We’re talking about Prince. He’s music royalty! He’s not a one hit wonder. Even my ex, R Kelly, is not a one hit wonder. Will Smith is not a one hit wonder. So we’re cut from a different cloth in that we have been exposed to celebrity in our life for so long that you are going to behave in a different way and you are going to handle situations in a different way. EGL: What’s been the hardest part about keeping your family close knit and together when you started taping Hollywood Exes?

EGL: What are some of your thoughts on reality television now in comparison to before you did the show?

Andrea Kelly: It was the traveling back and forth. My children were still in Chicago. They were still in school in the middle of my show.

Andrea Kelly: I believe that Hollywood Exes has set the standard so high and we were able to raise the bar. I’m a firm believer in you act a fool, they’re going to film a fool. You can’t come back later and say, “Oh, it was the editing.” They can only edit what you give them. You need to be aware of what you put out there, and you have to also be aware that you are responsible for your part in the [lives of]

EGL: Yeah, we saw that on the show as well. Andrea Kelly: Yeah, so I was in LA filming. They were in Chicago and since I’m such a handson mom, I get up, I comb hair, I pack lunches, I do breakfast, I walk dogs. So for my kids for so long in their lives it was their dad in the forefront, so they were used to that. Now they had to make that transition like hold on,

I’m grown, honey. The last time I had a fight I also had a lunch box Andrea Kelly: Yes, so I have the Pink Kitty, which is a dance, actually its a sensual dance workout. It’s just sexy. It’s about women taking control of their sensuality, their sexuality and they’re body and being healthy and feeling good about yourself.

now not only do people know who my Dad is they now know who my mom is too. That was the hardest part. But I think that the things that kept us so bonded and so tied is that I’m a Southside girl. I came up from humble beginnings and I know what its like to get food from the soup kitchen from the church. So I never lose focus. That celebrity Drea Kelly is a persona, but the person is Andrea Danielle Lee from the Southside, mother of three that keeps you real, real and grounded. EGL: Now that Hollywood Exes has helped to make your name recognizable, the doors have opened for you to explore additional avenues within entertainment. Tell me about these dance workout DVDs that you have!

EGL: Nice. Definitely sounds like an EGL girl type of workout plan. So, I was listening to another interview and you talked about getting to know the real R. Kelly and not the celebrity music star R. Kelly, when you did choreography for him. What kind of friendship and relationship did you guys really have? Andrea Kelly: As a woman, he was more like my road dog, that was my homie, that was my brother. It was like, “Yo, let’s get in the studio when he was working on an album and I was coming up with the visions for the choreography. I’m [also] a fashion designer so I was working on the wardrobe. So we were in the lab together and we were like let’s make this great super dope bananas crazy show that has never been done. Let me take that Broadway, theater element that I grew up in, you take that R&B ste-

reo feel and let’s knock it out. So we really were in this as partners. That was my boss [and] I knew I worked for him, but we also had a kinship of being two kids from the Southside that made it out the hood, what better chemistry? It really started out like a brother/sister partnership. He’s silly as all outdoors and so am I. We always had fun and it was like always being with my friend. It was great. EGL: What was that moment like when you were like, “Oh, I think I’m falling in love now?” Was it a moment or was it something that just happened? Andrea Kelly: It was just something that just happened because over time, I think creatively you have that boss-employee relationship, but ours took more of a partnership because I was so involved with the music, so involved with the choreography, so involved with the development of the show that it really became a partnership. So I would say we fell in love with the artistry first, and that was the love and the bond that we had and it just naturally grew. EGL: Were you ever nervous of what he might say or think when you first decided to do Hollywood Exes? Andrea Kelly: Honey, not even a little bit because Drea didn’t care [laughs]. I mean, we’re gonna keep it 100. I was on my ME journey. This is about me, my dreams, my desires in life, the world seeing my talents. I have been on every stage with this man from BET Awards to Soul Train Awards and I’m gonna take it all the way back, I was on the original Arsenio with him and it’s like no one ever knew that was my work. So for me, its not about his approval, it wasn’t my kids approval, if God approves because he brought it to me, I’m good. That was the only approval I needed. EGL: What has been some of your realest and truest points in and outside of the relationship and how did you get through them?

www.everythinggirlslove.com

Feature Andrea Kelly: You know, its funny that my lowest points in and out of the relationship had absolutely nothing to do with him. It was about Drea not living to her full potential. You have to be assertive about what you want out of life, you have to make your dreams come true. And when you get that divine revelation, its no longer the other person’s fault, it’s now your fault for not making it happen. And even if that means that you need to leave this marriage if you’re not happy in life, it’s not the spouse. So that was my lowest point, saying, “Drea you’re not doing for you what your God given right with your God given talent is for you to do on this Earth, what are you gonna do about it?” So I would say, my highest point was also with myself saying, “You know what? At all costs, even if that means walking away, I will not be half Drea. I will have a full life, live to my fullest potential and let the world see what I have to offer,” but I have to be assertive about that and I have to make that happen. EGL: So in R Kelly’s book he talks about you being a stay-at-home mom and you not necessarily being able to live out your dreams and that there was somewhat of a change in you. Did you notice that change in yourself? Andrea Kelly: I would just say I was letting my dream lay dormant… But I think being what society says is the good wife and the good mom, we tend to put our dreams on the back burner. And then it becomes a point in time where you’ve gotten the children, you’ve reared them up, they can take care of themselves you’ve been so

supportive of your husband’s career and doing what it takes to take him to the next level, you’re saying, “Hey, hold on. What about me?” So it wasn’t a change, it was just the sleeping giant finally woke up and said hold on, from the very beginning of this relationship I came in bringing something to the table. EGL: Also in his book R. Kelly talks about when you threw your wedding ring in the pond. Can you remember that day and can you describe the emotion that you felt? What did that mean for the relationship? Andrea Kelly: That day was just realness. It was real. It was if anyone in the entire world thinks that I would stay in a relationship because I’m happy with things be it a diamond ring, Gucci bag, red bottoms… things don’t make me happy. So I’m gonna let you know I put no value on those things. I value knowing that my dreams are just as important as yours. I put a value in knowing we’re partners in this. I put value in knowing that you have my back just like I have yours. My happiness does not come from things so if you think that a ring means something to me, that that’s what makes me happy, absolutely not. And I’m going to show you just how real Drea is, so that’s why that ring ended up in that pond. EGL: Can you say that you still love him? Andrea Kelly: Oh I will always love him. That is the father of my children. My son is already producing at 11 years old. This boy has a MacBook Pro and can pop out beats and has a gift just like his father. youngest daughter sings. She plays the piano. My oldest daughter plays guitar [and] sings. That is the best part of both of us. That is the best part of him. How could you not love that? They are the best part of him. We had good times and at the end of the day just because we’re divorced does not mean we’re not a family. We have children together. We are family until the day we die. And even when we’re dead and gone, we’ll still be the grandparents of the next generation. That bond will never be broken. And I think if people would focus on that, it allows you to not be so jaded and look at the reasons why you got divorced to that person. It reminds you of why you got married in the first place and you can move on then. EGL: So what advice would you give to women who are married to entertainers or are going to be married to entertainers and are kind of torn between the two, trying to find themselves and at the same time being able to function in the relationship? Andrea Kelly: I would say be assertive, but not aggressive. And here’s the difference: being assertive means I’m going to speak up for what I want to do, I’m going to go forward and make these dreams happen. Whether you’re going to support me in it or not, I’m going to have a life that is fulfilling to me. And if you love me you will support me in that like I have supported you. Not being aggressive, snapping your neck. Be assertive about what you want, but you don’t have to be aggressive because that’s going to lead into resentment and you potentially break up. But you have to be well aware and ready to go to battle for yourself because that may mean you’re going to have to walk away and are you ready for that? And I would hope that

any woman would say yes especially when there are children involved because you don’t want to look up and say he walks away one day and you have no idea how you’re going to care for yourself and care for your children because you have been solely dependent on him. That is not the life you want to lead ... So you better make sure you can take care of yourself … that’s number one, and number two check the relationship. Is it two of you in that relationship or four? Is it big you and little you dealing with all your past hurt and disappointments in life and then here’s [big] him and little him and all his past hurts and his past regrets? That’s never gonna work. Until the two of you become one, that’s God’s words, even until the four of you become one that’s what’s gonna put you on the right path. EGL: EGL is all about womanhood and letting the woman know that it’s okay to try and do it all and be it all. Do you ever feel overwhelmed at times with everything going on? Being a mother and a friend and a sister and all those good things? Andrea Kelly: I do, I do feel overwhelmed, but I feel like that’s the Universe’s way of letting us know that you haven’t taken time for you. I have a saying, “If I’m running on fumes, my family is on E.” I have nothing to give you, I can’t fill you guys up until I fill myself up and then I can carry my sister, I can carry my business, I can carry just being a mother, I can carry being a wife, but until I fill up my tank this car ain’t going nowhere. Take care of yourself and once you do that its like recharging your battery. Now you can go back and you can do all those things.

Feature EGL: So going back to your divorce, what was that like for the kids? Andrea Kelly: Children are resilient. It’s all about how you present it. I was not going to have one of those nasty divorces where the kids see you bickering and fighting and you’re talking bad about your ex. You explain to your children because mommy and daddy are not married doesn’t mean that we’re not family, and it doesn’t mean that we don’t love each other, we will always love each other because we have you all. But as adults we have to be responsible enough to say what was my part in this? You’ll be less likely to point the finger at the other person. It makes it go so much more smoothly because you can explain to your children these are the things I could’ve done better, this is where I went wrong, and this is what I’ve learned from it. Then you’re teaching them at a young age you don’t blame other people for your choices in life, and this is where you can make better choices in life, and then you really have to be a living example. They have to see you being friends, they have to see you communicating with each and not bad-mouthing each other. It makes the transition so much easier for them and for yourself. EGL: What was that like for you seeing R. Kelly going through his case with the child pornography and sex tape?

hadn’t been together for seven years. It’s difficult because that’s someone you love whether you’re together or not. For me, I was so disconnected from it because it was about me being a lioness and protecting my cubs and nothing else mattered to me. Not a case, not a reporter, not what people had to say. It’s about me and my babies at this point. So you shut the rest of the world out and you make sure you’re babies are okay. And you get deep up in that prayer closet, you take a pillow and a blanket and you sleep up in that mug. You say give me strength as a mother because what I’m going to teach them about in life is, it’s not the storm that mattered, but how did my mother come through the storm. That’s the most important lesson for my children to learn that no matter what the world throws at you, you cannot crawl under a rock and die. You dig your heels in the ground, you press your shoulders back, and keep your eyes on God and that’s all that matters. m

MAKEOVER YOUR MAKEUP BAG Look all around and you’ll notice the beauty of the season changing. Not only is the weather cooling down but the green leaves are shifting into exquisite shades of red, yellow, orange, and purple. The transition into fall is a sight to behold and while we’ll revel in the beauty before us, it’s also time to rotate in some fall beauty essentials. That means storing away shimmery bronzers and bold lip colors for richer and creamier products. Read on for inspiration to seamlessly transition your makeup bag from summer to fall. 1

FLAWLESS FALL SKIN

BB creams and tinted moisturizers are the perfect, lightweight companion for summer but during the chillier months, most prefer to switch things up and opt for a skin perfecting foundation. Urban Decay Naked Skin, $39.00 is a good choice for those who are looking for a luminous demi-matte finish. The lightweight formula is chocked full of ingredients that produces a radiant complexion and promotes smooth, supple skin. 3

FALL IN LOVE WITH BLUSH

REPAIR SUN DAMAGE

In the summer months, most of us protect our skin but forget all the damage the sun, chlorine, and salt water can do to our hair. By the time fall comes around, our tresses have become brittle, frizzy, and unmanageable. This is the perfect time to nurse your strands back to health with a deep conditioner that packs plenty of moisture, emollients, and vitamins. For a restorative deep conditioner that is rich and free of preservatives, artificial colors, and silicones, try Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment, $19.50.

SMOLDERING GAZE

Move over ‘beachy bombshell’ and hello ‘vampy vixen’! Autumn inspires rich, deep hues in brown, cranberry, and green – ideal colors to make your eye color stand out. Add in matte and cream eyeshadows to your daily beauty routine and use vibrant shades over your whole lid or as an accent. Many beauty brands have introduced some of their fall makeup collections so we’ll have plenty of autumnal hues to choose from. Try YSL Couture Palette Collection Fetiche, $60.00 for an array of chic shades perfect for fall.

Bronzers are a great way to add a radiant glow to skin but now that fall is here you may prefer a blush to maintain the appearance of sun-kissed skin. From rose to burgundy, there are plenty of blush choices for the beauty gal seeking a soft, natural glow. Pair rich blush shades with a classic nude lip or a chic dark pout for a quick, trendy fall look. Try theBalm Cabana Boy Blush, $21.00 for a subtle shimmer with plum undertones. 4

COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL

Find the perfect polish this fall to complement those statement rings and open toed ankle boots. As the nights grow longer, you may want to switch up your lacquers from bright bold colors to toned-down textures and neutral colors. For drama, opt for a deep plum and for soft and sophisticated, try creamy beige. Need some polish inspiration? Here’s a list of some of our favorite fall lacquers: JINsoon Heirloom, $18.00; Deborah Lippmann Take the A Train, $20.00; NARS La Notte, $20.00; Dior PiedDe-Poule, $25.00.

every girl loves m to Know the Facts Parents are inherently protective about their children. If your child also has special physical or emotional needs you might wonder if your new beau is ready for the challenges that you’re already accustomed to. For the parent it is important to understand that you need a healthy balance of parenting and alone time. You can’t be mom or dad 100% of the time without taking time to recharge. As the caretaker it is important to remember that you lose your ability to care for your loved one if you cannot also care for yourself. One part of self-care is to set aside time for adult relationships.

Can You Handle Dating Someone With a Special-Needs Child? By Aphrodite Brown

If dating were simple, everyone would do it successfully. Men and women more often than not have to weed through a lot of poor matches to find their one, right fit. What happens when you find that special someone and you also find out that at their home there is a child who has special needs?

www.everythinggirlslove.com

Anyone looking to date the parent of a special-needs child must have empathy, understanding and plenty of patience. These traits will help them become a part of a household that will likely have multiple structures and make life a little simpler for that home. The first step in the adjustment process is to accept that while the disability might be something you’ve heard of, such as Autism, every individual is different. The behaviors exhibited by the child might not be exactly what you thought they were. Take time to observe and learn the unique child in your partner’s life without assuming that what you will find is something you’ve seen in movies or on television.

With any relationship, a strong foundation requires communication and respect. This is especially true if your new partner has a child with special needs. You must respect the fact that their child needs more time and attention than most other children their age. It will also include the new partner being open and receptive to learning the behaviors of that child. You will have to be willing to earn the child’s trust and eventually their love and respect. Communication between the adults will also be essential to the relationship. It is perfectly acceptable to explain to your new partner that you were unaware and/ or unprepared for some of what you will experience as you get to know their child. This will be the parent’s opportunity to demonstrate how to include you into their life with their child by teaching methods that will bring you closer rather than exclude you. Special-needs children need special love. The beauty in that is they give special love in return. Dating a parent of a special needs child is not something to fear. Your relationship can thrive, if you are willing to put in a little extra special work.

KENDRICK LAMAR Where in the world is Kendrick Lamar? In the fall of 2012, Kendrick dropped what was recognized as one of the best debut albums in a very long time with Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. When that record was released, not only did it shake up the industry as we know it, but it represented perhaps the true beginning of a second golden age of hip-hop. But then, something very strange happened; Kendrick disappeared. Apart from a feature here and there, including the still controversial “Control verse, Lamar has stayed relatively quiet when the game needs him the most. This was the kid who cemented the West as the leader of the new generation, gave Drake a viable opponent for the throne, and made everybody take hip-hop seriously again, all off of ONE major label album. Early 2014 could have really used that kind of momentum to keep pushing the genre forward. Instead, fans are almost two years in with Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City and no sophomore effort in sight. Not a single thing in the world, would set hip-hop a blaze like Kendrick Lamar giving us that feeling again.

JESSIE WARE Although she is not technically a new artist, Jessie Ware is definitely someone to be on the lookout for. Her music is not only hypnotizing, but also hauntingly beautiful. The moment you listen to a record of hers, it takes your soul and sends it on a journey to the depths of your mind and beyond the deepest corners of your heart. A Jessie Ware record is one that you can never quite remember where it brought you, but you will never forget being a part of the moment. Her music resides in a space that only the bravest and most troubled souls can really connect to. But that’s Jessie’s true power, you may not realize how troubled you are until you press play. With her sophomore effort, Tough Love, set for an October release, Jessie has the chance to make this fall season a really thought-provoking one. However, when the weather changes, the music is meant to be a depiction of the season it’s most connected to. Jessie Ware’s voice was crafted for the sole purpose of music being created as the leaves change colors and the trees become more and more bare. With Tough Love, fall is in a good place.

FRANK OCEAN What Frank Ocean brought to the game was special. Not only was his sound unique to him only, but his visuals defined what art really is, a conversation piece. As a member of Odd Future, his music brought a feeling of normalcy. The emotion was raw and honest, and he was genuine. When Frank dropped Channel Orange, most fans were too distracted by the news surrounding the release; him coming out of the closet and revealing that he is a bisexual, was both courageous and potentially destructive. Being a hip-hop artist and homosexual is a very dangerous line to straddle, and Frank was willing to tip toe that line unabashed and prepared for anything. Maybe Frank was prepared to follow up his major label debut with a two-year hiatus, maybe it was the news of his sexuality that forced his hand, or maybe he just hasn’t been inspired enough to create the music he feels his fans deserve. It could be any of the three, but truthfully, Frank Ocean’s music is very much missed. This is his opportunity to give the fans something really genuine and organic. With the time off, including abandoning social media, Frank Ocean has had the chance to reconnect with music and even create something special. Maybe he even has already, but the fans can hardly keep waiting for the day to come. Sometimes a feature just isn’t enough.

SZA Quiet as kept, the Top Dawg Entertainment squad has continued to build a great roster full of young talent. However, they only have one singer on the roster and there is a legit reason why. SZA is a very special asset, and as a result, TDE has high value for her. No need to oversaturate their own market when SZA is the perfect blend for an R&B artist in 2014. She’s high energy, full of spirit, and more talented than some of those whose names rest above hers. That’s what the genre needs, a woman who is going to do her by any means necessary. The blatant honesty that rings clear in every record SZA makes is what makes her just the kind of artist fit for the TDE powerhouse. SZA never seems out of place when she’s with those same artists that have made major noise in the industry she’s still working to break into. It almost seems like the crew is even waiting on SZA to bless the fans with a new project. The talent is definitely undeniable, hopefully SZA decides it is time to give those who have been waiting something real special, real soon.

Sam Smith The worst thing that can happen to an artist is overkill. Nobody wants to be force fed music, and especially not when it’s filled with an abundance of emotions. Every once in a while, there is an artist that is just different. The emotions they make you feel, feels good and right in all the wrong ways. Sam Smith is an exception to that rule. It’s nearly impossible to get enough of music that is intoxicating. With the amazing success of his hit-single, “Stay with Me” Mr. Smith has more than” enough momentum to carry him through until at least 2015. In the Lonely Hour is still a fresh out the womb in terms of albums, which means Sam Smith can continue to thrive off that album alone. But there is something about the fall that needs a fresh project from the Australian with a voice that sounds homegrown. It doesn’t even have to be a full album, but even an EP of about 5-6 songs can help get fans through the inevitable fall breakups that are sure to come. What better way to welcome the windy, cloudy, dreary weather than to let some brand new Sam Smith play on repeat? Exactly, there isn’t one.

Mila J Mila J is no stranger to the music scene. However, she’s really started to shine bright over the past year. Some of that could have something to do with the ascension of her little sister Jhene Aiko, but it certainly has much to do about her own unique sound that has grabbed the people’s ears. With eight years separating her first solo project with her sophomore album, M.I.LA is essentially Mila’s second chance to make a first impression. So far she has more than exceeded those expectations, and that’s why she needs to capitalize now. The moment is fresh, and that doesn’t typically last. With her knack for creating music that women can feel, without being solely emotional, she should be able to sustain success with a relative ease. She is supremely skilled, and all she’s really missing is that opportunity for exposure. M.I.LA dropping at the end of September will help, but the more music the better, in Mila J’s case. This fall can be the fall that takes Mila J to new heights, or maybe not. But if one thing is for sure, it should be extremely fun to find out. m

For A Happy Harvest Pumpkin Patch

The fresh, crisp air that fall offers is one of the many reasons we love this season. What better way to welcome autumn than with athome family fun? There are so many ways to celebrate the season, but we love the idea of a pumpkin patch in your very own back yard and frightening the creepy crawlers with a kid-friendly zombie party for Halloween.

FALL LIVING:

At-Home Pumpkin Patch & Kid-Friendly Zombie Party By Triena Deniese, Modern Domestic Editor www.everythinggirlslove.com

If you’re looking to celebrate harvest season, invite a few friends over for a nature-welcoming get together. Create a pumpkin patch by utilizing haystacks for seating, pumpkins as props and even for activities. Host a few games like a pumpkin carving or painting contest, and potato sack racing. Use a menu full of hearty pumpkin favorites, such as pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin bread, while you’re cozied up near the fire pit. Having a pumpkin patch late September or early October is ideally the best because the weather is at a comfortable temperature for outdoor living. For A KidFriendly Zombie Party

Modern Domestic

Celebrating Halloween for a toddler can be tricky. You don’t want to frighten them with all of the scary things Halloween offers, so it may be more fun for them to have their own mini celebration instead of participating in typical Halloween activities. Throwing a zombie party is simple and fun. Gather a few of your child’s friends and invite them over for your spooky affair. Encourage them to wear costumes to make the night even more memorable. Start off the night with zombie brain juice and mummy-wrapped pretzel dogs. Play fun games and activities, like face painting and pin the eyeballs on the monster. Send your favorite kiddies home with their very own zombie hand, with a plastic glove filled with popcorn! m

every girl loves m Positive Thinking

Here’s the thing. Everything comes to an end. Relationships, jobs, songs, our lives, fingernails – nothing is excluded. But endings aren’t the end of the story. Endings actually mark the beginning of what’s in-store for us next. Think about it. Waking up in the morning marks the ending of a night’s rest. When your workday comes to a close, that marks the beginning of your after-work life; When Summer comes to an end, that marks the beginning of Fall. We move through this constant ebb and flow effortlessly because the actions associated with these events are second nature for us. They don’t cost anything or cause us any sense of being uncomfortable. They are what they are and we accept the process naturally.

The Truth About Painful Endings: Transforming Endings Into Beautiful Beginnings By Nicole Orisich

www.everythinggirlslove.com

But there are also endings that we do pay for emotionally and cause us infinite discomfort. These endings are what they are, but accepting them can seem far from natural. Painful endings are the moments in our lives that change us. They catch us completely off-guard and force us out of our comfortable lives into places of the unknown. They cause us to second-guess ourselves, our lives, and sometimes, even our reason for living. But these high-voltage moments aren’t exempt from our ability to transform them into fruitful gifts. Losing a Job Marks the beginning of the next phase of your life. Start the business, go after the job you’ve been secretly wanting, or finish the degree. No matter the reason for the termination, losing this job confirms that it was out of alignment of your life’s direction, and know that experiencing this particular ending marks the beginning of your life getting back on track.

Wellness

Losing a Loved One Losing a loved one, not only, marks the beginning of learning how to love someone beyond what you can see and touch but it also bears the gift of profound acceptance that love never dies – it just changes form. Loss of Status This painful ending marks the beginning of your second chance at life. You could spend your time mourning the homes, the cars, and the money you’ve once had, or you could recognize this loss as your chance to rebuild your life along with the additional wisdom you’ve garnered from having lost it all so that this time around, you’ll infuse your success with humility, gratitude and compassion.

www.everythinggirlslove.com

Losing a Friendship The friendship lasted as long as it was suppose to and feel free to be grateful for the laughs that you’ve ever shared with your former confidant. This painful ending marks the beginning of a more independent phase in your life. Now you can buddy up with someone or fly solo, the choice is yours and guess what? No one can debate you on it.

The End of a Relationship The universe is working in your favor! This relationship provided you everything you needed at the time you needed it most, and because you’ve experienced so much of what ‘didn’t’ work for you, the end of a relationship actually marks the beginning of being able to attract your “new and improved” love into your life who shares your values and is accepting of who you are, with flaws and all.

The Truth About Painful Endings. These are the moments that provide us the most growth opportunity in the shortest amount of time. These are the moments that shape and refine who we are. These are the moments that have the potential to strengthen and empower us, but that all depends on how we look at them. m

Nightmare on Hollywood Blvd: Exclusive Interview With 90's Diva, Adina Howard! By Novia Rose, Associate Editor Along with her debut album, “Do You Wanna Ride?” she had one of the BIGGEST hits back in 1995 with her single “Freak Like Me” A guaranteed jumper on any throwback playlist or any party; however over the years it is evident that the singer took a huge step back from the industry. EGL recently had the opportunity to speak with Adina Howard on her journey and current successes! Adina continues to rock out concerts and bring back irreplaceable memories for her fans, but in this conversation she definitely opened up about the side of the music business that is often ignored and served as proof of not being an artist that was forgotten by the industry BUT rather, a woman that chose to live life for herself and not for the love of fame……..

Feature Adina continues to rock out concerts and bring back irreplaceable memories for her fans, but in this conversation, she definitely opened up about the side of the music business that is often ignored. She serves as proof of not being an artist that was forgotten by the industry, BUT rather, a woman that chose to live life for herself and not for the love of fame. EGL: Hi Adina! How are you? It’s been a while and the fans definitely miss you! What have you’ve been up to? Adina Howard: Well, I just graduated from Culinary School almost a couple of years ago, so I now have my Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. I am a Chef. I personally say I’m a cook, but I am called a Chef. I’m married now, October 3, 2011 and I walked the stage actually, October 22nd. So, I’m, YOU KNOW, Married and educated. Just living and loving life, being blessed and marinated in favor….. His [GOD] favor that is. EGL: That’s the best way to be isn’t it? Adina Howard: Oh, yes! Absolutely. So you know it’s one of those things that even though I’m not in the public eye per say, life still goes on. It doesn’t stop because people don’t know where I’m at and what I’m doing. EGL: Well, we wouldn’t say that, we think that people are definitely curious to know what’s going on. Adina Howard: People are nosy girl. They don’t care; people just want to be in the know. It don’t matter what it is. Hence, why reality shows are so popular. EGL: Your video for your single, “Nasty Grind” definitely gives up classic Adina, but it’s certainly a change from your earlier days. How have you evolved as an artist? Adina Howard: Aww man. As an artist I’ve grown in the sense that, I mean I’m not 21 anymore. I’ve matured. What I use to do back then, I don’t do now. What I talked about back then, I

Feature don’t necessarily address now, and if I do address it, it’s going to be in a different manner. I’m still a woman, I’m still a very sexual woman, But now, with that topic, it’s more about me being with my husband, versus just being with my dude, you know what I mean. EGL: Hence, why we say “Classic” because it’s still sexy, but not like what we would see in “Freak like me.” Adina Howard: Right, I’m committed now. I’m not a commitment-phob anymore.

EGL: You’re committed and different now, but how excited do your fans get when you perform “Freak like Me” and “T- Shirt and My Panties?” Is it still the same reaction? Adina Howard: It is! It is! It’s crazy because I just had a show and no sooner than I got on the stage, they were like; I wanna hear “Freak Like Me!” I’m like, can I get through my set first? I mean Damn. (Laughs). So, they’re still excited because it’s a song that brings back memories for so many people. It’s very nostalgic and brings back the good old days. When I listen to the radio I still get excited about the 90’s and I’m not even listening to my own music.

for me. I’m not a person who relishes fame. I desire to be successful, not famous. So when I recognized that the success wasn’t where I would like for it to have been, when it was becoming more stressful than successful, I decided step back. At the end of the day, I don’t need the industry to validate me. EGL: Do you feel like that is the situation now with artists in the industry? Or anyone who is seeking to fulfill this dream? Not necessarily just music but the Entertainment business as a whole? Adina Howard: I think a lot of people want to be famous. They believe the hype and what they don’t understand is there is a lot of responsibility that comes along with being in a position of, you know, fame or success. “Fame is NOT going to take away your issues. It may take you out of the hood, but it’s not going to take away your hood mentality. You know what I’m saying? Fame may take you to the ends of the earth or whatever the case may be, but at the end of the day, where you are is where you are. Your problems are always going to follow you, and if you’re not addressing your issues, famous, successful or whatever the case may be, you’re not ever going to be happy.

EGL: Up until last year, you took a little hiatus from the industry. Why the choice to step away from music?

EGL: How difficult was that decision to it? We know there are often a lot of things involved when one decides step away from the business.

Adina Howard: I just got tired of it. I got tired of the politics of it all. And it wasn’t rewarding

Adina Howard: There weren’t a whole lot of things involved for me I just did it. Walking

Feature away from an industry that I knew nothing about in the beginning and I know now, it made it that much easier for me because this industry that so many people are fighting to get into, doesn’t give a dog darn about you. It don’t like you, It don’t love you, the only thing it wants is for you to do something for it, it’s not going to do anything for you. Because at the end of the day, it’s about me and my sanity and me being able to continue to move forward and be able to look myself in the mirror and be proud of what I see. EGL: I definitely can understand that. Now, most say that the 90’s were the best era for R&B. How do you feel about the state of R&B music today? Adina Howard: Man. I love music. I think that there are some artists out right now that are on point, and they’re not getting their just due. I heard a lot of songs, you being in the new school age, the technology, I’m always going to the Play Store (cause I’m an android person), and buying music, and there are so many artists out there right now that are getting lost in the masses because of the internet, because of technology. I’m discovering so much music it’s sad what’s being played on the radio is not what’s out there really. The people who have money and connections are going to get their songs played on the radio, more often than not. And the independent labels that cannot match what the majors are doing, their artist is going to get lost. It’s really the sad truth, but I love the music. I cannot front about the R&B that’s out right now. I’m really enjoying it.

www.everythinggirlslove.com

EGL: Now you’re back with new music! Tell us about the inspiration behind your single, ‘Switch’? Adina Howard:The inspiration behind the record was to change it up. To give them something different, hence the title ‘Switch’. It’s to give them something new, something fresh, to remind them, the public, my fans, my foundation, that it wasn’t always “T-shirt and Panties” and “Nasty Grind” I did start out with up tempo music. It wasn’t always bedroom music. I had to, you know; take it back in order to move forward. EGL: What can fans expect from your new music and upcoming album? Adina Howard: It’s going to be a more mature version of “Do You Wanna Ride”. Again, you’ll still have the provocative, Sensual, Sexy music, but at the end of the day, there is more to me, and I will definitely make sure that comes across with the new music. I’m pushing for the music that is more so outside the norm of what people want to hear or are used to hearing. EGL: Which definitely gives fans a lot to look forward to with your live performances? What can you tell us about your upcoming tour this year? Adina Howard: Fun! Interaction. Comedy. Music has now become a hobby for me. Because I have my degree now, it’s not my sole source of income, so now I can just relax and be present; versus just focusing on I gotta make this money because I got bills to pay.

Feature EGL: Do you feel like it’s easier for artists like yourself that have reached major success to try to do it now? Adina Howard: You know what, I can’t say for other artists. I really honestly can’t. For me it’s not easy because I have a history, not too many are willing to take a chance on me, 1. Because I’m no longer young and dumb, you know, they just can’t take advantage of me. 2. Because of some of the seeds that I’ve sewn, and they weren’t necessarily good seeds that I’ve sewn, I’m still being punished for my youth and my ignorance. But that’s ok, because at the end of the day, I’m still standing, I’m still here, and can’t nobody stop me from achieving what it is God has set for me.

“I’m not a person who relishes fame. I desire to be successful, not famous” www.everythinggirlslove.com

EGL: If the right deal came from a major label, would you be in a position to accept? Would you step back into the lime light if the situation was right? Adina Howard: Absolutely! If it was right. Keyword is: ‘Right.’ So, it would have to be right, because I’m not going to fall for the banana and the tail pipe, I don’t believe the hype. You know what I mean, that’s one of the things that so many people like to do, they like to hype you up, and then when the time comes, everything that they sold you on, doesn’t happen. But, if it’s the right situation and it’s not just talk, it would behoove me to move forward with that. EGL: “Eat Outside The Box.” You’re now a chef. That’s quite a transition from music, how did this venture come about?

Adina Howard: I have a passion for food. I love to feed people. Culinary is another art. Food, you can be artistic with food. And because I’m an artistic person, I needed another outlet. “Eat Outside The Box” is another outlet for me to be able to just showcase my artistic talents in the kitchen and be able to reach the world with that. Cause everybody has to eat! It was just a natural transition for me, because I’ve been cooking for so long. It’s in me, my mother was a great cook and my dad is just stupid in the kitchen. You know…and I have sisters who are ridiculous, as well. It runs through my veins. It was a natural transition for me. EGL: What kind of food do you offer? Adina Howard: “Its food! That’s one of the reasons why it is called “Eat Outside The Box,” because I don’t like to be put in a box, I don’t like to be put in a box when it comes to my music, and I don’t like to be put in a box when it comes to my food. I don’t just eat one specific kind of food. I love food. I can do me a burger every now and again…I love me a nice steak mid rare every now and again. Its food, so I don’t specialize in one type of cuisine, I specialize in FOOD.” (Due to her music, “Eat outside the Box” was on a brief hold, but Adina says look out for it very soon.) EGL: Most people don’t know, but you’ve also had success with acting. Would you ever get into it again?

Feature Adina Howard: Oh absolutely! One of the main things I would like to do is theater. I love theater. Be it Broadway or off Broadway. Theater is something, its live performances and I love live performance because at that moment you give it your all. And there are no take backs, unless you can do it over the next night and I love the rawness of theater. But again, if someone came to me with a movie of television show, it would behoove me … you know, if it’s the right role, let go ahead and get that done. Sure! Because when you build up your resume and people see you doing stuff, they want you. EGL: What inspires you the most, or drives you when it comes to your career?

I’m not able to be creative, I feel like I’m in a straitjacket. You know, it’s the freedom to just do something that no one else might’ve thought of, or if someone else thought of it, to tweak it and take a different direction. So it’s about creativity. I love it when it comes to my food, when it comes to my music, when it comes to my makeup, when it comes to my hair, when it comes to LIFE. It’s about the Freedom of being creative. Well, things are certainly in a tremendous place for Ms. Howard! Married, Educated, Businesswoman, Self-Fulfilled, and balancing it all. Though it has not been the easiest ride in the music industry, it is clear that Adina will keep the music coming and achieve higher success, in a way that is best for her. m

In Case The World Goes To Hell In A Hand Basket (Temporarily) Be Ready!

f the world went to hell in a hand basket tomorrow would you be ready? People enjoy watching those eccentric characters on disaster preparation shows as they get ready for the worst case scenarios. Everything from world famine and nuclear bombs to government take over and civil war, these people prepare for some extreme cases that the everyday person isn’t thinking about, let along prepared for. It’s hard to believe that people have the extra time, or money to create these elaborate plans.

http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/photos/0,,20487333,00.html

But, what if these things happen? We don’t live in an untouchable bubble. There are real threats in the world that could happen to us right here at home. Not only that, think about Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy. Those were pretty severe circumstances that people weren’t used to. So, what would you do if the world were in chaos tomorrow? Would you and/or your children be ok? What about other family members? How long would you be able to survive on your current food supply? If you don’t know, then it is time to get prepared to protect you and your loved ones from the worst-case scenarios.

Love & Sex

every girl loves m to Cuddle in the Fall For the singles:

For the lovers:

This time of the year has been nicknamed “cuffing season” because everyone wants someone to cuddle with as the holiday season approaches. If you’re not careful, you may fall victim to this temporary romance, only to be dropped the moment those short skirts come out again. Here’s a few tips to maintain your “wifey material” status and avoid being his fall fling:

How sexually compatible are you and your partner? Things may be all good during the warmer months but if your sex life fizzles in the fall, you may need to heat things up a bit. Here are some tips to keep it hot during this time of year:

1) Take his words at face value and don’t try to read between the lines. As women, we often hear what we want to hear rather than what’s actually being said. For example, if a man says he is not ready for a relationship, then that is exactly what he means. Don’t waste your time trying to change him. 2) Pay attention to details. If he always wants to see you at night or only behind closed doors, chances are you are just a fling to him. Take your dates outside the bedroom and see how he responds. If he makes excuses or frequently cancels on you, he’s probably only interested in being Mr. Right Now.

Autumn Romance For Singles and Lovers By Chanelle Woods

It always seems as though the summer flies by so fast! The days are getting shorter and the weather is cooling down quite a bit. What’s better than a warm body to heat you up at night? EGL has some tips on how to get the man you want or keep the man you’ve got.

www.everythinggirlslove.com

3) Don’t fall into the casual sex hype of cuffing season. It may have been a while since you got that itch scratched but a few nights of fun aren’t likely to lead to a healthy, long-term relationship. Position yourself to be a wife if that is your ultimate goal. You can start by challenging yourself to keep the cookies to yourself until you find someone worthy.

1) Spice up those “feel-good movie” date nights by taking advantage of one of fashion’s most anticipated seasons. Don’t put away all your dresses and skirts; instead, pair them with some lace tights or sexy boots to make the evening more sultry. That trendy pea coat could also be worn as a “welcome home” gift for your man. Things are sure to heat up once he finds out you’re wearing nothing underneath. 2) Live a little! Rather than saying no to that daring sexual adventure he keeps asking for, say yes! Take it to the private balcony on a warmer evening or disappear for a quickie at a friend’s party. Compatibility may fade over time as each partner’s needs change, so make sure you are willing to compromise. Your man will be so surprised you said yes that he’ll be even more turned on! 3) Sometimes you have to motivate your man to get on the same page as you. Highlight his favorite features on you by investing in some new lingerie. Serve dinner in something silk and sexy or just walk around the house in a racy outfit and some fly heels. He’ll forget all about that hard day at work and want to put in some work with you!

Love always seems to be in the air around this time of the year. Regardless of what your situation may be, a genuine bond will sustain more than just a few cold months.

Dream in Color

every girl loves m Positive Thinking

By Kanarian Kindred, Wellness Editor While on the quest to success you will encounter those attempting to make you feel small. Whether it’s a networking group, former colleague, or even family, it’s always someone determined to make you feel less of a person. Therefore, I want you to know; though your credentials aren’t at the level of some people… you matter. Never let dream killers dampen your spirit; instead dream even higher, in color at that. These inspirational points will help.... .. For starters learn the art of silence. Meaning, when you hold a dream within your heart it’s not always best to let everyone know. Though they have the best intentions, sometimes outsiders tend to push you away from success instead of to it. I can remember someone telling me, “Find three things in this world you want to do, then just do them. Don’t tell anyone until you’ve completed the task at hand. This will prevent the dream killers from destroying your focus.”

Second, do not let your age discourage you from pursuing your dreams. Though you might be older than most in that particular field, keep

shooting for the mark. I find society loves to place stigmas on older adults when it comes to XYZ. It might take longer than the rest, but if the talent is there it will happen. Just keep the faith. Lastly, never use your looks as an excuse to halt your dreams. It seems every time you open a magazine, a female has to look this way or this size for success, especially fame. I ask all of you to allow your inner beauty shine when chasing your dreams. Though it may seem on the model types get a chance at success, that’s so not the case. I want you to take a minute and review the audition video for Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent. When she walked on stage (forty seven and slightly overweight) the people in the crowd laughed at her. In the end she got the last laugh as you can tell. In closing, I know the negative feedback from others can bring you down at times but never give in. Your breakthrough is just around the corner….. m
