SITING PLAN 3
PHASE ONE We were asked to design a house for a family of six, a couple with two children and grandparents. This narrow 5173mm x 27280mm site is challenge. Living, dinning and interior garden are at ground floor as shared space for family, and bedrooms are at first floor for better privacy. Grandparents’ bedroom is at ground floor, combined with the sliding door so they can drive their wheelchair into the bedroom. Although library corner is at first floor, the cantilvere design allows it can still be a part of living room, and achieve the concept of having family gather around space.

After refine, I reduced one bathroom at first floor to give a better library corner. An screen wall was also installed behind the TV to take the load and also for temperature control.
Timber cladding roof combined with glass to give a nice sky light to library and staircase.

LIVING NEIGHBOURHOOD APARTMENT MIX For project 2, we were asked to design the surrounding buildings around block No.4 and also keep the heriatge facade of No.4 and No. 2. Therefore, the material need to be carefully chosen to fit the need. In keep the consistency of heritage buliding, brick is definely one of the main elements. Black colour was chosen to present a modern feeling. Timber gives a sense of natural and correspond to the Macarthur Square.

Carlton has a large population of student and the need for student apartment is highly demanding. Therefore, I decided to have both No.2 and 6-10 as apartment and keep No.4 as family area. The commercial street at west side of the community perfectly demonstrate the laneway activation. 11
