Gallant| Bold | Intrepid | Valiant Tom Tran A Gentleman’s Touch

A

gallant man is defined by many honorable traits and is one to be admired. He is the kind of man we look to as a leader in our society. He isn’t necessarily the loudest, or the strongest, but his mere presence impacts the world around him. It is this man who confidently wears a suit and tie everyday despite the stereotypes about today's youth. He is the one who stands in the light of criticism, for he knows that the only way to avoid controversy is to be nothing short of extraordinary. He is a lover, a fighter, but most importantly a champion of American culture. Have you ever chased a dream? I don't mean merely follow a dream. I mean truly pursue one with every essence of your being. For those of you who know what I am talking about, you know that there's a moment in every dreamer's life where he will taste defeat. Without a doubt, if you strive to be anything greater than yourself at some point in time, you will fail. The question is what will you do in the face of failure? What will you choose to do, say, think, when all the odds seemed stacked against you? Who will you be when the obstacles rise up and appear to tower over everything and anything you have ever accomplished? I can't tell you what to do, say, or think, nor can I say who you will become when you face the greatest challenges of your life. I can, however, tell you what a gallant man will do. Being attentive in nature he will embrace his failure. Whether it is his own mistake, or nature working against him, he will brush the dirt off his suit, and the grime that covered him when he fell off the path to success. He will take a deep breath, and a moment of silence, to envision everything he wishes to attain. Motivated by his original purpose he will play back every detail of every moment of every single day from the start of his journey until that moment. He will evaluate himself, analyzing the situations he put himself in and decisions he made. There will be much debate inside, trying to pinpoint the exact moment where things did not go according to plan. He will take responsibility for his

own actions, even though it would be easier to claim the world is conspiring against him. This man will stand up and smile knowing that he must now work harder than ever before. It's because he knows not only what failure tastes like but he knows what it takes to reach his dreams. Fearless in his endeavors, in the work place, in his love life, in his home, on the streets of the big city surrounded by millions of people, or in an empty park. His mind, his heart, his very soul will be focused on what means the most to him. Greatness is the only option. There is no such thing as anything short of utter eminence, for he recognized long ago that it is not about who he is but who he could be. The bar is set so high, seeming almost unreachable; he will trudge slowly towards this goal. People around him will see his work ethic and acknowledge him. While some will be inspired to seek their own ambitions, others will hate him out of their own insecurities. He will pay them no mind, for he has no energy to waste on hating back or time to act on such petty feelings. He is a man who defines himself. A man who defines his fate. Look around you. The world is a battlefield full of men with valor. They are our entrepreneurs, our writers, our law enforcers, our pastors, our presidents; they are the American men dedicated to something greater than themselves. These are the men every mother hopes their son will grow up to be. They are the modern day renaissance men. They are world changers and world savers. They are the heroes we need. They are what every man should strive to be. Be gallant.

No teníamos dinero.

Breaking Out

Keys To Combating Shyness And Find Success Helenyi Santiago| S.C Model

S

hyness can hold a person back from new experiences and opportunities that would allow them to develop personally and professionally. According to Psych Central statistics, (http://psychcentral.com/lib/facts-about-shyness/000138), the highest level of shyness occurs in adolescents, affecting higher numbers of girls than boys. It is the writer’s opinion that shy people often lack confidence and fear being mocked by others. These three skills can help you gain confidence and combat shyness: 1, Practice talking in front of the mirror, 2, work with groups and 3, find a coach who can help you develop communication skills. A lot of people lose their voice right before speaking in front of a large group. If you talk in front of the mirror, you can get to know yourself better, by getting in tune with your voice, gestures and body movements. Sometimes people tend to have a hard time interacting with others or holding a conversation because of language barriers, pronunciation of words, a strong accent or even articulation problems. Practicing in front of a mirror might help you to learn where you make your mistakes. It can help you articulate correctly, control the volume of your voice, use gestures, and help with your speed. Speak to the mirror first, and then to a friend or family member (or take a video of yourself and watch it afterward). Practicing helps you to develop yourself as an outgoing public speaker and lose shyness. Group work benefits shy people in many ways. It gives them the chance to socialize, share

their ideas and gain confidence. Initially, they should start talking with a smaller number of people, becoming comfortable. Then build up to talking to larger clusters of people. In no time it will be easier with a larger audience. Socializing is a key factor to success. By socializing with others you can gain knowledge, more confidence, and build friendships. Finding a coach to help you develop your communication skills, whether professional or casual, might seem scary, but take a minute to think about someone you admire as a speaker. Is it a teacher or religious advisor? If you are having trouble thinking of who would be a good coach, ask a guidance counselor, friend, family member or someone you trust. A coach can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. He or she will help you improve the skills you have, and work with you on your weaknesses. One of my classmates always says, “be active not passive; never wait for someone to talk to you first. Take the initiative and you might be able build a friendship for the rest of your life”. If you feel down in the dumps because you lack in confidence, lighten up! Talking in front of the mirror, working in groups or even finding a coach to help develop communication skills might help you gain confidence and get rid of shyness. Just remember to be an optimist, and always look for help because socializing is a big key to success.

never cared much for lipstick, but I must say, I had to check out a new line called Kaleidoscope by Paris Nicholle. First, I fell in love with the natural pink color, then the shine, plus, it stays on for the longest time! It comes in the cutest container and makes your lips look fabulous, but the best part… It is affordable, so you don’t have to break your pocket book to have a pretty pout! The color selection ranges from neutral pinks to astonishing blues! The creator is now developing some ravishing reds for those that dare to be sexy

Beauty From Within

Julissa Berudez I believe that inner beauty is how a person feels about himself or herself and how they project it. A person who has this beauty is not judgmental and feels others are beautiful and unique as they are themselves. They view the world positively and it reflects in their attitude. They strive to be their best and inspire the best in others. A person’s actions create how their beauty is perceived. They know how to lead, but know when to follow the right person at the right time. They are able to show all the good qualities and talents that they possess, while helping others to reach their potential, encouraging them to follow their dreams because they know it is possible. I believe that I am a role model for girls of all ages. I am an example that what you want to do in life can be achieved with hard work. I help other girls realize that nothing is impossible and help them find and harness their full potential. I am confident and secure in myself. I feel that displaying many of these qualities helps others to believe that they can do what they want regardless of doubters. I find that young children look up to me and tell me about what they want to accomplish in life. I tell them, “Go for it! Don’t let roadblocks stop you from achieving your dreams!” I help many people overcome obstacles and urge them to never give up. I also believe that these same children and kids my age are role models for me. They teach me something new everyday. Their drive to learn, have fun, succeed in life, and follow their dreams is inspiring to me.

Charm & Beauty Boutique Features Trendy Women's Apparel and Accessories to Fit All Sizes Charm & Beauty Boutique, located in Easton, Pennsylvania, first opened its doors in the spring of 2013, offering trendy women’s apparel and accessories to fit all ages and sizes. Owner, Constance Brown, is thrilled to see her dream of launching a fashionable clothing destination come to fruition. “Ever since I was a young girl, I loved fashion and have been a bit of a trend setter,” Brown said. “I decided the time was finally right to launch this boutique in the Lehigh Valley. So far, the response has been very good.” A native of New York, Brown relocated to Pennsylvania and began her search for an appropriate shop location. When Brown found the perfect address, one of her first orders of business was to paint the exterior a shade of bright pink. “I wanted the boutique to represent cancer awareness and make every experience memorable,” she explains. “I’m fortunate that this site also has a front parking lot and outdoor space where I can display clothes in nice weather.” Charm & Beauty offers a wide variety of stylish tops, pants, leggings and dresses in sizes ranging from extra-small to 3X large. “All women want to look stylish and beautiful, no matter what size they wear,” Brown observes. “I want to be a destination where women can come and feel they will always find something pretty and trendy.” She recently added a line of lingerie and has a line of jewelry and other accessories. Brown is hoping to offer makeup services on Fridays and Saturdays.

For Your Eyes Only

M

y passion for photography began as a hobby but turned into a business in 2013. As a stay at home mom, I needed a creative outlet. There had to be something to do besides fetching sippy cups and being a magic kiss healer. I wanted to wear heels and anything but yoga pants. Some extra income so that I could buy my son swim lessons, or enroll my daughter in art classes would be so nice. Who wouldn’t want some "fun money"? At the same time, I still needed to be at home for my children.

Three unique things that have made me a trendsetter: 1. Researching where people are looking everyday to find the most efficient way to market my business. Social media has been a huge blessing to my business. Whether it's networking with talented photographers, eager to help one another, or using it to book clients, I use it on a daily basis and feel that it keeps me relevant. 2. Keeping my portfolio fresh. What I offer my clients continues to change as I keep up with the latest trends and client needs. This year, I will be expanding my work by doing fashion shows and leading workshops designed for other mothers who would like to improve the photos they take of their children. I also have been accepted into a program offering services to women recovering, surviving and fighting cancer. Once a month, I will be holding a free session for these women, which will allow them to discover the true beauty that they possess. As my business succeeds, I feel it's important to give back to others.

\Within a month of launching my business, I was booked almost every weekend. I was so happy that people wanted to PAY me to take their photos! I was having fun, getting paid and wearing adult clothes. Talk about a win/win! The first year, I wanted as much exposure as I could get, so I saturated the social media outlets and took on all sorts of jobs. My main goal was to let people know that Danielle Miller Photography existed. Although I shoot many types of lifestyle photography, I simply fell in love with the art of boudoir photography. Since I am a mother of two, wife and business owner, I know first hand how hard it is to take time for yourself and especially, your marriage. 3. Finding new clients in new places. Deals sites such as LivingSocial I was introduced to boudoir photography at a nude workshop led by and Groupon have been a great way to hit a demographic that I Rick Krueger. Rick has become mentor to me. was not able to reach on Facebook. Giving a discount for a session has introduced women to this type of classy photography and has Being the only female photographer in attendance, I was nervous, but generated repeat business and more revenue. Rick was able to help and guide me on angles, settings and composing beautiful, flattering images of women. I began shooting boudoir the week after. I witnessed the transformation of shy, self conscience women, as they turned into women who found love for themselves again. "I now see what my husband sees in me after viewing these images," a client exclaimed. We all have insecurities and compare ourselves to Photoshopped models, which are not even realistic images of women. I try and show women how to embrace what they love about themselves and not focus on what they do not like. After doing more than 100 boudoir shoots this year, I have come away with a sense of satisfaction knowing that I have taught women that to embrace their sexuality in a classy and elegant way, creating artwork in the process.
