100 DAYS HUNDREDS OF WAYS
Statewide Recognition for Patient Safety
WELL-BEING
Excela Westmoreland Hospital is one of 21 hospitals across Pennsylvania to be honored through the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania’s annual Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program.
The program, which started three years ago, celebrates top-performing hospitals with low rates of health care associated infections, such as central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections and other infections. The 2022 honorees were selected based on their performance during 2021.
“This recognition is a true testament to the hard work and dedication from all of our health care workers,” said Kathleen Dohey, Excela Health’s director of clinical outcomes. “We set our target metrics high and continue to pursue zero health care infections during these challenging times.”
100 Days, Hundreds of Ways
This update will provide information related to our collaboration with Caldwell Butler. In it you will learn more about them, our rational in using their expertise and our goals, objectives and most importantly, the success we are realizing through our 100 Days Hundreds Of Ways work outs.
It is important to recognize that while the collaboration is being guided by a group of our front-line leaders, ideas, plans and suggestions for performance improvement are not limited to the efforts of these individuals. Rather, it will be through the joint insights and observations of everyone at Excela, regardless of position or role, that we maximize our results and success.

Ian Hunter, Clinical Dietitian at the Excela Health Well-Being Center, shares the health benefits associated with incorporating granola into your diet. Granola is a popular breakfast cereal made from rolled oats, nuts, seeds, and sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. It is often paired with milk or yogurt, and can also be added to recipes as a topping or ingredient.

Benefits of Adding Peanut Butter to Your Diet
Peanut butter isn't just an American staple, it's also a healthy, nutritious food that should be a staple in your diet. And it's tasty and easy to add!
Aleksandr Gavrilov, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at the Excela Health Well-Being Center, says "it makes an especially great addition for people trying to follow a low carb diet since it only has 6 grams of net carbs. With high fat and moderate protein content, it ensures longer satiety, which means you’re less likely to overeat or get hungry later in the day."
