Ridgeview was founded in 1995 by Mike and Chris Roberts in the South Downs of England. Their vineyards specialise in growing classic grape varieties (chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir) to make the highest quality bottle fermented sparkling wines. The world class status of these wines is reflected by the number of national & international medals and trophies received since the release of their first wines from the 1996 vintage, including Best Sparkling Wine IWSC 2005.

The Taittinger family began their roots in wine in 1870 as wine merchants in Paris. In 1932 Pierre Taittinger bought the Château de la Marquetterie, of which the surrounding vineyards had been planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay since the 18th Century. Between 1945 and 1960 Francois Taittinger directed the house during its development of cellars beneath the Abbey of St Nicaise, using the chalk pits left behind from the Gallo-Roman era around the 4th Century. Today Champagne Taittinger is one of the few examples of a family run Champagne house, Owning 288.84 Hectares of vines, a rarity in the region.
