Using Adversity to Find Your Purpose

If we asked for a show of hands of how many people would like to skip 2020, at this point, most likely everyone would be all-in. However, we would like to say, don’t be too quick to jump ahead. Let’s use the lessons of the past 6 months as a set up for the blessings and success that will now come our way. No doubt, we have all gone through some really uncertain times, with still a bit of lingering uncertainty. But let’s think about the lessons we have learned in the first half of the year, and how we can utilize them to finish the year stronger than our wildest dreams.
The first half of the year taught us to embrace change and adjust quickly. In our lifetime, we have never had to change our patterns and habits so abruptly. We had to become a voice of reason, patience, understanding, calmness and discernment as Real Estate Professionals and Leaders in our Communities. In times of chaos and uncertainty, we all have a responsibility to be there, and help with words of encouragement, empathy and advice, for those seeking some insight and leadership.
Now that we have moved into the second half of the year, how can we use the lessons we have learned to gain momentum and production for the second half of 2020?
In today’s environment, we believe videos and marketing is a MUST to get your purpose out to the communities in which you serve. What do we mean by purpose? Please, realize you are so much more than a Realtor; you are a community ambassador, that can elevate awareness of the local businesses and help them in promoting their products or services, while representing yourself as the local Real Estate Expert. Many of our local businesses are struggling, and you can use your skills of marketing to not only help them gain additional business but also solidify your role as a person that cares about your community.
It’s human tendency to help those people who have their best interest in helping them. So, if you are doing a video helping promote specific local businesses and always end with the call to action, “I’m your local real estate expert, so call me for all your Real Estate needs” they will not only share your video but they will remember you when someone else has a Real Estate need. The opportunities are limitless.
Also, please understand that people are social beings and must have interactions with others. Take the time and write down a list of 25 friends and family that you need to call. The call is for two reasons. The first reason is to call and have a caring and positive conversation. Just because you are doing fine < < <
does not mean that your friends and family are. Many are struggling because they have a need to interact with others. As real estate professionals, we have all been deemed essential and we are blessed with tremendous business opportunities right now. But, that is not the case for some. Take the time to understand that some people are alone, and a phone call or a video call would absolutely be cherished. Don’t assume that your family and close friends are okay. Many of our elderly family and friends are alone at home, and often times no one calls or comes to check on them for days. This is your time to not only check on your loved ones and friends, but also bring joy and a smile to their faces. Always take the opportunity to remind them if they hear of anyone looking to sell or buy Real Estate to please send them your way. Family and friends will want to help you but without reminders they may often forget to bring your name up at the appropriate time. Take the initiative to contact your friends and family more often, and if given the chance, put a mask on and go visit them in person.
Six months are left to make 2020 a year to remember for positive things instead of negative. You may be wondering how do you even start when it seems our country is in such a dark place right now. We believe you can overcome darkness with light. We are taught

to be salt and light unto others.
There are thousands of people in our EXIT Realty family, and if each person within EXIT Realty committed to doing one video supporting a local business with positive encouragement and support, imagine the sphere of influence you can have. And, just one call or visit to a family member or friend could bring so much light. You can make a difference. Your words and actions can tremendously impact those around you in a positive way. You have an opportunity to not only have your best year ever by using some simple marketing techniques, but also have an opportunity to change lives and create opportunities for so many including yourself.
We hope that each one of your are able to take this information and use it to help others and help yourself. 2020 has simply been a brief set back to set is all up for a come back. Let’s all finish this year out stronger than we ever imagined.
