WJoin the ADVENTURE
elcome to our collection of wildlife encounters for 2024/25. They say life begins at 50. With half a century of experience, it’s said people understand what is truly important and get more enjoyment and satisfaction from life as a result. At Exodus Adventures we are on the cusp of our own 50th birthday and as we share our 2024 line-up of trips with you, I can say with some satisfaction that we’ve come a long way from taking our very first trip to Afghanistan in the back of a Bedford truck in 1974! I believe what truly sets our adventures apart, is that we understand what matters to you. We’ve harnessed the same passion we’ve had for adventure since ‘74 –the passion to explore the world’s most remote corners; to connect with groups of like-minded people and to work with the best local guides in the business.
Today, we offer over 500 itineraries in 90 countries worldwide, but the adventure doesn’t stop there. As a way of saying thank you to our community of travellers, we’re launching a number of special 50th-anniversary departures that offer included experiences,
designed to enhance your adventure even further! Alongside these celebratory anniversary trips, we’ve also created a collection of brand-new itineraries, including new adventures in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and South African safaris across Kruger National Park and Mozambique. Through our Nature First commitment, we also continue to fund conservation initiatives in the destinations we visit. This includes partnering with NatureMetrics to help launch our Citizen Science Departures, where travellers can actively contribute to the building of the eBioAtlas, a map of the world’s species, which has the potential to inform future conservation action on a global scale, so keep a look out for these special departures in our brochure. After 50 incredible years of creating life-changing adventures, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us, as the world’s leading adventure travel tour operator. There’s never been a better time to join the adventure and rediscover your wonder for the world with Exodus - here’s to the next 50!

REDISCOVER your wonder for the WORLD
From the most spectacular of mountain tops to the depths of the darkest jungles, our expert local guides have been there and back a thousand times. On the way, they have tasted the best local dishes, uncovered every secret shortcut and enjoyed a lifetime of discovery – and for 50 years, we’ve invited groups of like-minded travellers to join the adventure.
And as we enter our next chapter, we promise to keep leading the way, seeking out transformative experiences that give you new perspectives as you discover the wonders of our world. Because it’s these life changing moments that leave us feeling rejuvenated and reconnected to what’s really important in life – and that’s what our adventures are all about.
NEVER STOP EXPLORING
Ever since our first trip back in 1974, we’ve never lost our spirit of adventure. We’ve found adventure in some of the most remote corners of the planet, taking the time to pioneer new routes and forge paths to new and unique destinations. Our fingers have always been on the pulse of emerging travel trends, and we don’t shy away from pushing the boundaries when it comes to adventure travel. We’re always looking to expand our knowledge and expertise, curating new experiences that help our customers rediscover wonder in the world around them.
PEOPLE-FIRST
We believe that travel is all about making connections with people. So, we ensure that people remain at the heart of our brand, whether that’s working together with local businesses in the destinations we visit, hand-picking the best expert leaders or delivering memorable experiences to our customers. We also love to share our knowledge, travel stories, expertise and local legends behind a destination. Our expert local guides are personable people, who combine their expertise and charm to build connections and create a great group dynamic with every adventure they lead.
AWARD-WINNING
As the experts in adventure travel, we are proud to work with some of the best people in the business. We hold ourselves to the highest standards across everything we do – day in, day out. And we are constantly challenging ourselves to be the best we can be. It fills us with pride that our adventures continue to be award-winning, receiving highly sought-after accolades, from Which?, the National Geographic Traveller and more. But it’s our customer reviews that matter the most to us, and we’re happy to say that 97% of our customers would recommend us to friends.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
We believe that travel can and should be a force for good, which is why we passionately seek to improve life through travel and make a positive impact — for the places we visit, the people we meet, and the planet we explore. Creating sustainable adventures is at the heart of everything we do and how we operate. Through the Exodus Travels Foundation, we aim to provide support for community empowerment projects, and fund conservation initiatives across the world. Our Nature First plan takes our commitment to the planet one step further by rewilding 100 square metres per passenger and contributing to innovative conservation projects, including the building of the eBioAtlas.
Ever since our first trip in 1974, we’ve always embraced our spirit for adventure. And travelling to far-flung, remote destinations across the world is made that much more memorable when you share these moments with others. And after 50 trips around the sun, we strongly believe that the connections we make when we travel, are equally as special as the destinations themselves – and our travellers and expert leaders agree.
1970s
The adventure started in 1974 when John Gillies and David Burlinson organised their first overland trip to the remote Minaret of Jam in Central Afghanistan. Tours to the fabled city of Kathmandu in Nepal quickly followed. This kickstarted their expeditions, aptly named, The Trans Asia Overland.
1980s
Exodus began to spread its wings across the world. In 1981, we launched our first South American route through the Amazon basin. We also employed overland drivers as trekking leaders to lead trips in Nepal and our walking and trekking programme was born.
1990s
After the break-up of the Soviet Union, Exodus was the first tour operator to visit pioneering destinations such as Mt Elbrus in Russia and Lake Baikal in Siberia. We also took an overland truck into China –something no one else accomplished until 10 years later.
We’ve loved creating incredible adventures for our clients over the last 50 years and seeing them make long-lasting connections with the people they meet along the way, as it’s these connections that bind us and forge memories that last a lifetime. Exodus customer Geoffrey Brunskill, so enjoyed walking the Sierra de Aitana mountain range that he’s been on our Sierra de Aitana trip five times over the years. And it’s not just the breathtaking limestone mountains and great weather that keep him coming back, it’s also to catch up with our trekking guide, Jose Miguel. “Jose Miguel is an outstanding leader, worthy of his Exodus award a couple of years back – his humour, support and encouragement make the walking week very much a pleasure.”
We also pride ourselves in having strong connections with the people who run the local accommodations, like the welcoming Acampora family, at Hotel Due Torri on the Amalfi Coast – our best-selling destination.
Nicola Acampora, one of the brothers who own the hotel explains, “This was our family home, our mother was born here, as were we. When the hotel opened in 1983, I was already making my first pizza for our guests at 14 years old, it’s in the genes”. And he’s continued this tradition
by teaching Exodus guests how to make their own Neapolitan pizza, together with his family, for the last 20 years.
We have long-standing relationships with our expert leaders too – some of whom have been working with us for many decades. One such guide is Valerie Parkinson, who has been one of our leading trekking experts in the Himalaya for the past 30 years. Her keen local knowledge and deep-rooted connections with the Nepalese people, remain unmatched. Valerie explains, “I love to share my passion for the Himalaya. It makes me happy when clients leave having fulfilled dreams and ambitions of a lifetime and wanting to come back again or say that was the best trek they ever did.” A particular couple Valerie remembers building a strong rapport with, was back in 1988, “I was at the beginning of my guiding career. For them, it was to be a one-off trek to the Himalaya. But on that first trek, they quickly fell in love with the Himalaya and that first trip turned into 60 trips with Exodus all over the world, 24 of those were to be in the Himalaya and on over 13 treks, I was their guide.” With so many amazing connections made over the years, we’re excited to see what the future holds as we continue to lead the way across the world!
2010s
After years of funding small community projects, the devastation of the Nepal Earthquake in 2015 prompted Exodus to launch an appeal that raised over a quarter of a million pounds. This spurred on the establishment of our Exodus Travels Foundation in 2019.
EXODUS TRAVELS Foundation
2000s
We saw a decade of expansion of our Discovery trips and creation of Snow Holidays, Family Adventures, and our popular Cycling programme. We also ventured into the Polar regions, hitting the major milestone of offering adventures across all seven continents.

INCREDIBLE WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS
No one can deny that watching species in their natural habitat sparks a profound sense of awe, making us feel more connected to nature and the world around us. And rest assured we hand-pick the best wildlife tracking experts who are well-versed in guiding you to these magical moments.
1. LOCK EYES WITH WILD ORANGUTANS IN BORNEO
There’s no shortage of tropical wildlife in the Borneo rainforests. On this trip, you’re primed to see an impressive variety of species, from the bat exodus at Deer Cave to spotting Asian pygmy elephants near the Kinabatangan River and proboscis monkeys in Bako National Park. But the most incredible sighting is the wild orangutan. Found only in Borneo and Sumatra, these great apes share nearly 97% of the same DNA with us, making them one of our closest relatives.

2. SPOT THE RESPLENDENT QUETZAL IN COSTA RICA
Led by naturalists and expert wildlife trackers, you’ll explore Tortuguero’s waterways, the trails surrounding Arenal Volcano and Manuel Antonio National Park in search of colourful toucans, three-toed sloths, green turtles and white-faced capuchin monkeys. However, one of the most beautiful creatures you may encounter is the resplendent quetzal. This itinerary heightens your chances of seeing this bird with a walk deep in the Savegre Cloud Forest. A good time to spot them is during their nesting season from February to May.

4. SEARCH FOR BENGAL TIGERS IN INDIA’S UNTAMED FORESTS
Nothing will prepare you for the extraordinary thrill of seeing a tiger in the wild. In India, the Bengal tiger has been the country’s unspoken mascot for centuries and the central state, Madhya Pradesh is one of the best places on the planet to spot these beautiful creatures.
Heading out on 15 game drives across Pench, Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Park over 16 days in the presence of expert trackers, you’ll learn how the world’s biggest cat thrives in its natural habitat.

3. WATCH CHEEKY RING-TAILED LEMURS PLAY IN MADAGASCAR
With over 100 different species of lemur endemic to Madagascar, seeing these friendly, inquisitive creatures are high. On this trip, you’ll follow your guide through Ranomafana National Park to see the rare golden bamboo lemur, learn how to track fork-marked lemurs on a nocturnal safari in the Andasibe Nature Reserve and watch cheeky ring-tailed lemurs scramble in the magnificent Canyon des Makis. And you can count on the landscapes being just as beautifully diverse as the country’s lemur species.

5. MEET CURIOUS BLUE-FOOTED BOOBIES IN THE GALAPAGOS
Alongside encounters with giant tortoises, friendly sea lions and colourful marine iguanas on the islands of Mosquera, Santa Fe and Genovesa, you may also get the chance to see blue-footed boobies in North Seymour. Surprisingly, their bubble-gum blue feet come from the nutrients of fresh fish they eat, so the stronger the pigment, the healthier the bird. If you’re travelling between June and August, you may even see their famous courtship dance, where the male whistles and marches around the female.

KEY BOOKING INFORMATION
Having chosen the holiday you are interested in, below is some information which you may find useful in relation to your booking and holiday. Details correct at time of publication, please call or go online to check up-to-date booking conditions: www.exodus.co.uk/about-exodus/ exodus-booking-conditions
1. Refer to the Trip Notes
The Trip Notes form part of our contract with you and they contain the most up-to-date information about the holiday, including details about the itinerary, inclusions and exclusions. Please download and take the latest version of the Trip Notes with you on your holiday.
2. About the trip
Is this trip for you?
We aim to provide detailed and accurate information in our documentation so that clients can assess their own suitability and fitness for a specific trip. We ask that you satisfy yourself prior to booking that you are able to complete the itinerary as described in the Trip Notes. All our trips feature Activity Level icons as guides to the type of itinerary and the level of challenge the trip will involve. An explanation of each Activity Level can be found at www.exodus.co.uk/activitylevels . Please let your sales consultant know during the booking process if you have concerns or queries about any aspects of the itinerary.
Participation
We ask our clients to always abide by the authority of the tour leader. There is an agreement in place between Exodus and our tour leaders, allowing them to exclude any client from part or all of a trip if it unfortunately becomes apparent that they cannot manage particular elements of a trip or are likely to put either themselves or other people at risk. It is, however, not a decision that is reached lightly or that is made frequently.
Pre-existing medical conditions
We ask you to let us know of any pre-existing conditions, illnesses, disabilities or recent surgeries which may affect your safety or other people’s enjoyment of the holiday. Please email CustomerServices@exodus.co.uk to make us aware of any pre-existing medical conditions. Our Trip Notes provide information on whether a particular holiday is considered to be suitable for a person with reduced mobility. There is no upper age limit on our tours, but as most holidays are quite active, we may ask clients over the age of 80 a number of questions about their health and fitness. We also require you to advise us of any dietary requirements in advance of a tour.
Accommodation
Our prices are based on twin-share accommodation which means that if you book on your own, we will arrange for you to share with a person of the same gender as per the information given to Exodus at the time of booking. We ask you to satisfy yourself that you do not have any conditions or preferences which may preclude you from sharing a room, and that you speak to your sales consultant if you would like to enquire about a single supplement.
Key information to help you prepare
Important trip documentation will be provided during the booking process and prior to your holiday. If you have any queries or notice any inaccuracies, please contact Exodus as soon as possible.
We are able to provide basic advice to clients regarding passports, visa and entry requirements, but you should check with the appropriate embassy, consulate or the British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for the exact requirements for your chosen tour and date of travel. British nationals require a full passport which is valid for six months after the date of your scheduled return home. The Trip Notes for each holiday provide more detailed information on visa requirements.
We recommend that you contact your Medical Professional or a Travel Health Clinic for information about vaccinations or specific health risks in the area to which you are travelling. Please see the Practical Information section of the Trip Notes for information relating to vaccinations for your specific tour.
The Trip Notes also include information about packing suggestions and essential items that we recommend you bring on your holiday.
Risks of adventure travel
Whilst we ensure that all activities are operated to the local legal standard and that risk assessments are carried out annually, many of our holidays do carry an element of risk. On many of our tours, the areas are remote and events far less predictable than on a conventional holiday. Health, safety and operational standards, particularly of hotels and transport, are often not up to the levels we experience at home. We require that all the properties and transport we use comply fully with local regulations, but we do not guarantee the same standards as in your home country. If you choose to travel on this type of holiday, you must be prepared to accept that this is all part of the experience.
Adverse weather conditions, political situations and a host of other uncontrollable factors can mean a change in itinerary. Outdoor activities are weather dependent to an extent and some can become dangerous in certain conditions. If the leader feels there is any heightened level of risk involved in an activity, they may amend or cancel it as they see fit. It is unlikely that an itinerary would be substantially altered, but if changes are necessary, we will make the best possible alternative arrangements which maintain the integrity of the original itinerary. We will do everything we can to minimise the effect, but we cannot be held responsible for the impact of changes outside our control.
Crime and other security risks exist in all countries and whilst travelling in a group is a safeguard, it is not a guarantee of safety. We will take all reasonable care of you and expect that you will take sensible precautions yourself.
3. Booking on a Flight Inclusive or Land Only Basis
Exodus holidays can be booked on a Land Only basis or with international flights. When booking on a Flight Inclusive basis, Exodus complies with our responsibilities under the ATOL regime. For all packages (Flight Inclusive or not) we comply with the Package Travel and Linked Travel Regulations 2018. In the event of a significant change to travel plans by an airline, we are responsible for ensuring that you can complete your journeys in a reasonable timeframe and without additional cost to yourself. Please see point 6 for more information on the Package Travel Regulations.
Flight costs and supplements
Flight Inclusive prices include return flights from a London airport and UK departure tax. Our Flight Inclusive trip prices include a base price for the flights, however this is always subject to availability at the time of booking as airfares are outside of our control. Where the cost of flights is higher than this base price, a flight supplement may be applicable; your sales consultant will be able to advise you if this is the case.
Transfers
If you are travelling on the designated group flights, return airport transfers may be included at the destination. If you are travelling on non-group flights, airport transfers may be at an additional cost unless shown in your documentation as a free or included transfer; please ask your sales consultant for transfer details during the booking process. If you book on a Land Only basis, services start and end at the local joining point detailed in your documentation.
4.
How to book
If you would like to make a booking you can contact us in several ways: directly over the telephone (03330 607 112), via the live chat function on our website or exodus.co.uk/ contact-us.
Travel insurance
Adequate and valid travel insurance for your chosen itinerary is compulsory for all travellers and it is a condition of accepting your booking that you agree you will have obtained adequate and valid travel insurance. We recommend you take out insurance as soon as your booking is confirmed. Notwithstanding the foregoing, for UK travellers on a UK only domestic trip then adequate and valid travel insurance is not compulsory, but we strongly recommend you have cover in place (in particular cover for cancellation, property & personal belongings).
5. Payment, cancellations and changes
Unless stated otherwise during the booking process or in the full terms and conditions, the following applies:
Deposit
You will be asked to pay a deposit at the time of booking of at least 25% per person of your selected travel arrangements (minimum £300 per person or equivalent). You may also be required to pay on booking for any non-transferable and non-refundable items; your sales consultant will advise you of this during the booking process. Please note that for certain travel arrangements, including all Polar holidays, the deposit may be higher than those shown.
Final balance
We will invoice you for the remainder of the cost of your holiday, which must be paid prior to 90 days before departure. In certain cases, including Polar holidays, we may request full payment more than 90 days before departure where, for example, airlines require full payment on booking.
Making changes to your trip
Please contact Exodus as soon as possible if you wish to make a change to your existing booking, wish to change to a different tour or wish to change departure date. We will always endeavour to assist with the requested change, but this is subject to availability and payment may need to be made for non-refundable costs (for example from airlines) and other fees may also be applicable, including a £40 administration charge.
Cancellation conditions
You may cancel your tour at any time by providing written communication from the lead booker. As we start to incur costs from the time the contract is confirmed we will retain your deposit and will apply other cancellation charges as shown below. Please note, however, that for certain travel arrangements, including all Polar holidays, the cancellation charge may be higher than those shown; please ask your sales consultant for full details of cancellation charges at time of booking.

If we change or cancel your booking
We plan the arrangements for your tour many months in advance and may occasionally have to make changes, most of which are minor.
When a major change (as outlined in the full terms and conditions on our website) occurs, you will have the choice of either:
a) accepting the change; or
b) accepting a replacement tour from us of equivalent or similar standard and price (at the date of the change), if we are able to offer you one; or
c) cancelling your tour, in which case you shall receive a full refund of all monies paid.
Most of our trips are group holidays and require a certain number of participants to operate; we include details of normal group sizes in the Trip Notes and on our website. In the unlikely event that a trip does not reach the normal minimum, we may be forced to cancel the tour; a decision will be made as early as possible and not later than 20 days before departure. We reserve the right to confirm trips on numbers lower than the minimum indicated and occasionally we may exceed
