ABOUT ALULA
Located 300 km north of AlMadinah, AlUla Governorate is one of the wonders of the ancient world and an essential site for humanitarian and natural heritage. AlUla includes significant sites such as Hegra, the first site in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and is the southern capital of the ancient Nabataean Kingdom. The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) is striving to develop AlUla as a destination for world heritage through its 2030 vision, which focuses on preserving the cultural and natural aspects of AlUla in partnership with the local community, setting up ambitious projects and preparing the region to welcome visitors from all over the world.

The vision is to be a unique destination to enjoy a living horse experience tailored around heritage and the beauty of the landscapes.
The Equestrian sector in AlUla aims to make AlUla a mustdo destination for any horse enthusiast in the region.
ABOUT ALFURSAN ENDURANCE ALULA:
In its sixth edition in 2025, AlFursan Endurance AlUla showcases the pinnacle of endurance riding, featuring elite riders and their horses in a test of strength, speed, and resilience across two days. AlFursan Endurance AlUla, taking place on 8th February 2025, sees elite riders race against the elements and time, navigating 120km of AlUla’s unique and rugged desert terrain.
The Mutadil Endurance Cup, scheduled for 9th February 2025, is a three-star ride (CEI3*) sanctioned by the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI). Stretching across a gruelling 160km, this progression is a significant step towards preparing for the 2026 FEI World Championship that will be hosted in AlUla.

ABOUT ENDURANCE
Five things you need to know if you are an Endurance novice:
1. Endurance is like taking on an ultra-trail. It is physically and mentally demanding for the horse and rider, and challenges them to the peak of their ability.
2. Competitors are required to stop at regular points on the course to pass veterinary checks, and a vet completion record is required in order to finish the ride. It is essential that riders work in communion with their horses to be successful in Endurance Competition.
3. The winner of the ride is the first to cross the line and have his horse passed as in ‘fit condition’ by the veterinarian. However, it is often cited by the riding community that ‘to finish is to win’ in Endurance racing.
4. Arabian horses are renowned for their exceptional stamina and versatility, making them the ideal choice for endurance riding. Their distinctive head shape, characterized by a refined profile and prominent forehead, makes them easily recognizable.
5. Although the rides are timed, the emphasis is on having a horse finish in the best condition possible, so preparation for the competition is key.
