How We Design Our Group Travel Programs Service-Learning Adventure™ GLA Group Travel crafts each service-learning program to be immersive and multidimensional, typically by combining three components: Community Service, Hands-on Learning and Adventure. Seeing a country through all three lenses invites students to get to know local residents, provides context for the experience and lends a strong sense of purpose to their travel.
Local Partners At GLA, we recognize that working with local partners is a fundamental part of sustainable development, effective community service and responsible travel. Our partners help bring foreign cultures to life, providing the critical context only a local resident could provide, and granting our students locals-only access to off-the-beaten-path experiences.
Expert Staff GLA’s program staff are more than chaperones—they’re passionate country experts and experienced mentors. On a GLA Group Travel program, your group will be led by a Program Director who has professional experience working with youth and intimate knowledge of the country and theme of your program.
5-Point Safety System™ Safety is our first priority. While we believe in the transformative power of stepping outside comfort zones, we remain invested in managing the risks of doing so. We created and enforce our 5-Point Safety System™, a set of rigorous standards from water safety to lodging standards that ensures students are safe, healthy and well-cared for while on program.
Full-Service Travel Support We provide end-to-end support for every group leader to help manage the challenges of proposing group travel to your students and school administration: Enrollment resources, access to a pre-departure coordination team, support with flight booking and passport/visa requirements, an emergency hotline for families while the group is in country and post-program follow-up.

Where do I start? Taking your group on a trip abroad isn’t as complicated as you might think. Let our seasoned staff guide you through a few simple steps and you’ll soon be on your way.
GROUP LEADER AND CHAPERONE POLICY You’ve taught your students about the world— now make the world their classroom. Enroll six students and your own spot is covered. Plus, for every six additional travelers you enroll, bring on another chaperone for free.

Once your program is built, we’ll provide you with a toolkit to help you recruit participants: a customized website, resources for organizing flights, payment coordination, cultural preparation and more. We are also happy to offer information sessions for families via conference call or video conference.
