ANGEL CAL
Angel Cal Ph.D. is currently the Quality Assurance officer at the University of Belize, a post he has held since January 2006 except for the period May 2008 to February 2010 when he served as Interim Provost of the University of Belize (UB). As Quality Assurance officer Angel is responsible for the establishment, implementation and coordination of quality assurance mechanisms of the university’s academic division preparing the division for institutional accreditation. Dr. Cal is an historian (Latin America and Ethno history) by profession having earned his doctoral studies in 1991 at the University of Arizona, U.S.A. He was the President of the University College of Belize (19902000) and the founding President of the University of Belize (2000-2002). Associate Professor Cal led the development of a baccalaureate degree program in history now being offered at the University of Belize. He has taught history at UB and as co-director of the African & Maya History project (2003-05), published material in Maya history for the use of primary school teachers and students.
