ROBERTO ZURBANO
Roberto Zurbano (born in Havana in 1965) is a writer, editor and culture analista. He has published a number of books and works, including Ramon Rubiera, Un astro ilusorio (1992), Elogio del lector (1994), La poética de los noventa (1995), and Los estados nacientes: Literatura cubana y postmodernidad (1996). He has received the following awards: Abril Prize, Juan Marinello Prize, Mirta Aguirre Prize, as well as the Grant Dador and the Prize of Cultural Journalism (obtained twice). He is the author of dozens of articles and essays in Cuban and international magazines, such as Temas, Casa de las Américas, La Gaceta, El Caimán Barbudo, etc. He has been editor and founder of the Cuban Anthropology Review Catauro, director and founder of the literary magazine La isla en Peso. He has conducted daily radio cultural programs on Radio Metropolitana and weekly programs on Radio Rebelde. He also publishes a biweekly column on the television program El sitio del Arte. He has been Vice President of the Writers and Young Artists Association Hermanos Saíz from 1996 to 2000, and Vice President of the Cuban Union of Writers from 1999 to 2006. He has lectured internationally in numerous countries in Europe and Latin America. He has been awarded the National Culture Distinction. Since 2006 he is the managing director of the Editorial Registry of the House of the Americas.
