Inner Journeys - SAlt This new exhibition is the work of six South Australian textile artists, the SAlt group.
THE FABRIC TRAIL SAlt Exhibition 2016
The work displayed reflects the artists’ unique and highly personal responses to the five themes – the physical journey, the emotional, spiritual, creative and the journey of discovery. SAlt (South Australian living textiles) is a group of six independent textiles practitioners. Collaboratively the SAlt group sets challenges to inspire, explore, extend, respond to, critique and reflect on each theme. The six members are: Judy Bushby, Suzanne Gummow, Julie Haddrick, Francie Mewett, Sara Bell Smith and newcomer Wendy Thiele. Come and see these intriguing textile art banners by six highly regarded South Australian textile artists. Below: by Julie Haddrick and Sarah Bell Smith.

Art and Fashion in the Field
Knit & Crochet on Parade 11am daily on stage
On parade 1pm daily Enjoy this daily fashion parade and display of wearable art with a difference – all the garments are created with materials found on a farm. Bizarre, beautiful and very creative, these wearable works of art might be made from fencing materials, frost cloth, copper, grain, electric fence tape, beer bottle tops, and other, even more curious materials. Don’t miss the Ag Art Wear Parade on stage daily at the Stitches & Craft Show at 1.00pm. And there’ll be a static display of garments too. All garments paraded and displayed will be from the recent Elmore Field Day where the girls dress up. But not quite the way you’d expect! The annual Elmore National Ag Art Wear competition requires the entrants to create a wearable work of art, including accessories, created entirely from materials and items of an agricultural nature from around a farm. The competition is divided into four categories and is open to anyone.
See the latest patterns and luxurious yarns for knitwear and crochet from Lola Lovegrove on parade daily at 11am. See the latest bamboo yarns which are perfect for summer, stock up on specialty European yarns, and see the finest Australian superfine merino and luxury blends. Kim from Lola Lovegrove gives a detailed description of the garments and gives an insight into the yarns available. You’ll be itching to pick up the needles and start knitting (or crocheting) now! Presented by Lola Lovegrove, Stand B02
This year the four categories are: Avant Garde, Designer, 18 Years & Under and Hat.
Pictured here are garments from last year’s competition. 2016 garments will be paraded.
Find out about next year’s competition, from the representative at their display area to discuss the details with you.

Giving all kids creativity Expertise Events, organisers of The Stitches & Craft Show, has introduced a new initiative in 2016 – the Craft for Kids Foundation. The Foundation is for the collection and distribution of craft supplies, to give to charities for children in their care to use in craft activities. Craft allows children to explore their creativity and is pure expression through their eyes with no rules or boundaries. The materials they work with are tactile, colourful and varied and provide children of all capacities the ability to explore; with the satisfaction of making something as a gift or to keep. Craft for Kids Foundation will donate craft supplies to charities that care for Australian children who are physically, emotionally, financially or geographically disadvantaged. Expertise Events are also committing their craft experts to design and produce projects that they will teach the children to make at special events. You are invited to bring in your unwanted craft supplies and place them in the special Craft for Kids Foundation area at the show. Your donation will be stored in Expertise Events’ warehouse then delivered to charities once or twice yearly, as agreed. Craft items you can donate include yarn, fabric, paper, lace, braid, craft tools, glue, embellishments. Items that won’t be accepted include: money, unfinished projects, knitting needles, crochet hooks or pattern books.
