The Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum
an illuminated celebration of Westonbirt’s tree collection
Westonbirt Arboretum’s Enchanted Christmas features a spectacular one mile trail, highlighting the striking structures of Westonbirt’s trees as they are illuminated against the winter night sky. Each year a new lighting design is created so visitors can experience different specimens, unique paths and beautiful vistas in the tree collection. Enjoy a range of activities, entertainment and refreshments including local caterers providing a hog roast, baguettes, chestnuts, winter warming hot chocolate and mulled wine. Children can visit Father Christmas and take part in fun festive crafts in the learning centre. Sneak in some last minute Christmas shopping with our hand made Christmas decorations and other gifts to take something home from this memorable event. Wonderful underground Christmas adventure Another spectacular Clearwell Caves classical Christmas creation. It’s a charming story about a Christmas tree that just doesn’t want to be uprooted by a family who wish to have it for their festive decorations. Come and see their crazy story unfold. From Saturday 29 November until Christmas Eve, Children see Santa in his real underground grotto, choose a present, then follow delightful displays telling the enchanting story of ‘The Perfect Christmas Tree’ created through nine impressive caverns. The displays are the creation of children’s book illustrator Heather Holland, who has worked with Clearwell Caves staff to create spectacular festive displays. Santa Claus Ahoy! - all aboard for a festive cruise You know there’s something special about to happen during Gloucester Waterways Museum’s Santa canal cruise when you hear Santa talk to the boat’s skipper for permission to land on the boat’s roof! As children peer excitedly out of the windows to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas, the big man himself appears with the help of a spot of festive magic in his onboard grotto. All the children are called up one-by-one to meet Santa and to receive their special gift, while the adults sit back and watch the proceedings as they enjoy a mince pie and a hot drink. A magical Winter Wonderland awaits you Illuminate your imagination this Christmas and make it your very own Winter Wonderland at The Bird & Deer Park. Santa will be found in his hand crafted ash sleigh and the Park’s photographer will be there to capture that special moment of you and your family. The Park’s Reindeer, Rudolph, Prancer & Comet will be waiting to greet you and can be viewed from the balcony of the brand new Visitor Centre, or from inside the Park if you’re hoping for a closer encounter. The Bird Park is famous for its lakes with its twinkling lights and majestic swans who drift across the shimmering water. The famous Wendy House hosts a tranquil nativity scene, which can be viewed through the little windows. You will find the Christmas Fairy in the illuminated Gypsy Caravan where she offers Christmas treats to the children and close by the Bird Park face painters will be on duty to add that touch of sparkle to this special event.
