The tour continues along to Cristoforo Colombo Bastions, one of the favorite places for recreation, entertainment, and walking. Then comes Marco Polo Bastions, animated during the summer from market stalls and street performers, leading to Piazza Civica which includes three important historical buildings: Palazzo de Ferrera, Casa de la Ciutat and Palazzo della Dogana. The square is particularly appreciated by shoppers and is home to ateliers and exclusive shops. From Piazza Civica can begin the tour of the historic center of the city, between silent lanes, ancient buildings, beautiful churches and craft shops. For tourists who want to immerse themselves in the most intimate of the village, the old town is ideal for settling down in one of apartments. Going beyond the ancient walls it opens a new world, characterized by strong color contrasts of Liberty villas built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Alghero is able to satisfy even those looking for a holiday immersed in nature, relax in the countryside, or those seeking a more active holiday full of sports and hiking.
