Ministry of Crab ‫ﻣﻨﺴﺘﺮي أوف ﻛﺮاب‬ Following its opening in the restored old Dutch Hospital building (now handed over to house restaurants and handicraft shops) in 2012, the restaurant rapidly became a trend setter and a favourite with both locals and tourists alike. The seating is both tables and sofas, the art on the walls are fun, the staff is very interactive (one of them announces 'GUEST IN!' and 'GUEST LEAVING!' appropriately so the rest of them can shout greetings at you - it's adorable. There are 43 tunnels in the Railway line from Colombo to Badulla. The longest railway tunnel in Sri Lanka which is “Singimale Tunnel” lies between Hatton and Kotagala railway stations. Its length is 559.75m and the community nearby the tunnel use it for their transportation. Space is allocated for the protection of the pedestrians in case of a train’s arrival.

Likewise, the highest number of tunnels in Colombo-Badulla railway line which is fourteen is found between Ohiya and Idalgashinna railway stations. The 18th tunnel situated near the Pattipola railway station (321.95 m length) was made in 1919.

It is prominent as there’s gloomy weather at one end but dry weather at the other end! Moreover, at one end the weather is clear but contradictory it is misty at the other end. Pattipola railway station is the highest railway station in Sri Lanka. Demodara Loop

‫ﺗﺤﻮﻳﻠﺔ ﺩﻳﻤﻮﺩﺍﺭﺍ‬

The Demodara Loop, which is the track passes under itself, going around the loop and emerges from no 41 tunnel. Loop is about 900 m long. The station situated exactly over the tunnel. Also that's center of the crossing point on the top of the loop. This type of loop is known as “spiral loop” or “circular loop”. Kandy

is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It's set on a plateau

surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and bio diverse rainforest. The city's heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), popular for strolling. Victoria Golf Course The Victoria Golf & Country Resort is set in a coconut estate across a 500 acre plus site. It is located alongside the Victoria lake & reservoir /dam & is dwarfed by the Kandyan mountain range with the Knuckles mountains for a backdrop. The highlight is the -18hole golf course which is a Donald Steel creation built in 1997.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was first established for feeding and providing care and sanctuary to orphaned baby elephants that were found in the wild. The orphanage was shifted to Pinnawala village on a -25acre (10 ha) coconut plantation adjacent to the Maha Oya River.

The primary residential care area is on the east side of Highway B199, Rambukkana Road. The main site also has some restaurants / refreshment stands, and management buildings including sleeping sheds and veterinary facilities. The elephant bathing and viewing area along the Oya River is directly opposite on the west side of the highway.

Gardens (Royal Botanical Gardens) The Gardens is about 5.5 km to the west from the city of Kandy It attracts 2 million visitors annually and is near the Mahaweli River (the longest in Sri Lanka). It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka.

Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. Hakkagala Botanical Gardens

The gardens is situated 16 km from Nuwara Eliya and has a cool temperate climate because its altitude is 5,400 feet above the sea level. The garden was established in 1861, under George Henry Kendrick Thwaites as an experimental cultivation of Cinchona, a commercial crop thriving at the time. Once after the Tea replaced the Cinchona, it was turned into an experimental Tea cultivation. In 1884 it transformed to a garden. The park in Ohiya is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,300–2,100 metres (7,500–6,900 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. Cultural Triangle North of Kandy, the tangled green hills of the central highlands tumble down into the plains of the dry zone, a hot and denuded region covered in thorny scrub and jungle and punctuated by isolated mountainous outcrops that tower dramatically over the surrounding flatlands. Despite the unpromising natural environment, these northern plains – traditionally referred to as Rajarata, or “The King’s Land”, now more popularly known as the Cultural Triangle.

At the spiritual heart of the Triangle lies the great ruined city of Anuradhapura, capital of the island from the third century BC to 993 AD and one of medieval Asia’s great metropolises, dotted with vast monasteries, elaborate palaces, enormous tanks and a trio of monumental dagobas, excelled in scale in the ancient world only by the Egyptian pyramids. The remains of Polonnaruwa, the island’s second ancient capital, are more compact but equally absorbing, while few visitors miss the chance to climb the spectacular rock citadel of Sigiriya, perhaps Sri Lanka’s single most extraordinary sight.

Bentota is a coastal town 64kms south of Colombo, in the South-western coastal belt of Sri Lanka. Bentota is situated on the southern bank of the Bentota River mouth, at an elevation of 3 metres (9.8 ft) above the sea level.
