WBFSH STUDBOOKS JUMPING GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TROPHY

26 - 29 SEPT 2024

EVENT SCHEDULE

Jan Tops MEET

FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT LGCT AND GCL

I am delighted to welcome everyone to the second edition of the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy, where we are proud to showcase the very best of breeding and a future of show jumping greatness.

It is a pleasure to welcome all the studbooks to Longines Tops International Arena in collaboration with WBFSH to introduce team jumping to the studbooks and their members. We are looking forward to seeing the most promising young horses from studbooks across Europe.

The top quality horses from each generation will be nominated to take part in a full competition schedule as we all celebrate the incredible progress in equine breeding.

I would like to thank the studbooks that are joining us here. We look forward to witnessing a display of impressive talent where the champions of the future will begin to shine. Thank you for being part of this inspiring journey.

Jan Pedersen

This Olympic Year has been equally challenging and exciting. More than ever our sport is facing unprecedented levels of public scrutiny, and it is our duty to safeguard its future by promoting the positive values that make it so special to us all. The unique partnership between humans and horses, and the spirit of mutual support and respect are the mark of true horsemanship.

Going into its second year at the world class facilities of the Longines Tops International Arena, the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy embodies this spirit in a unique and special way. It provides riders and their horses the opportunity to work together, something that not only the riders, but also the horses clearly enjoy and benefit from. It provides young horses coming into the sport with a new challenge and international platform, and is designed as an event that builds confidence, allowing them to grow and blossom into successful, assured athletes.

Especially important to us at the WBFSH is the fact that this event’s concept stands out in a highly significant way. The teams are exclusively selected and managed by our studbooks. And the exceptional performances we witnessed in its inaugural year proved what we have always known: the studbooks have a key role to play in connecting breeding with sport.

What the event last year has clearly shown is that the studbooks’ knowledge of breeding and young horse development, and the ability to spot talent in its earliest stages is unrivalled. We saw how much can be achieved when the studbooks are empowered and trusted in this way. I am immensely proud of everyone who is rising to the challenge again this year. As this event continues to grow, it will become a highly significant and positive part of the journey of many promising young horses into the sport, and thus an unrivalled contribution to their long-term success.

Praise is due to the fantastic team at Valkenswaard who have played a key part in the development and implementation of this event from the beginning. It takes vision and determination to start a completely new initiative. The overwhelmingly positive reaction to its inaugural incarnation, by those who were fortunate enough to attend, and the growth with even more studbooks on board this year, pay testimony to the validity of the concept.

I am sure you will join me in enjoying the 2024 rendition, and in wishing all our riders and horses the very best success.

THE PINNACLE RETURNS

The WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy arrives at the Longines Tops International Arena for the second year running, acting as the grand finale for the 2024 LTIA season calendar.

The WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy will unfold over four days, with four different categories:

CSIYH 1* – 5 Year Olds (1.25m)

CSIYH 1* – 6 Year Olds (1.35m)

CSIYH 2* – 7 Year Olds (1.40m)

CSIYH 2* – 8 Year Olds (1.45m)

CSI 2* – Stallions 9 years old and older (1.45m)

This studbook team competition concept will gather teams composed of a minimum of three horses per category (max. six horses), appointed by the participating WBFSH studbooks.

Each studbook can compete in several categories, but they do not have to send a team for each category. Studbooks that cannot field full teams can send a maximum of two horses on an individual basis. These individual horses cannot qualify for the final, which is a team classification, but they will qualify for the consolation final, which is an individual classification.

This is an exclusive opportunity for the studbooks to showcase themselves and their most promising young horses at top level; to promote them and their breeders in an authentic competition and on a world class stage at the Longines Tops International Arena.

The Belgian Warmblood Horse

The Belgian Warmblood Horse (BWP) was established on the initiative of Canon De Mey and Daniel Van de Sompele. In 1958, the foundation was officially recognized in the Belgian Official Gazette under the name «National Breeding Association of the Agricultural Riding Horse.» The original objectives were focused on providing farmers with an economically viable work and riding horse, promoting equestrian activities, and encouraging recreational pastimes, particularly among rural youth.

The BWP horse originated through the crossbreeding of various European horse breeds, primarily from neighboring countries, with native Belgian mares. Over the years, the breeding goal within BWP has evolved to focus on producing healthy performance horses with a correct and functional conformation, suitable for disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, and eventing. As a result, BWP has become one of the leading studbooks, known for its high-quality, durable sport horses that are appreciated worldwide.

Today, BWP is a relatively small but influential studbook, registering approximately 4,000 foals each year. The success of BWP horses in international sport demonstrates the ongoing relevance of the original vision. This, combined with the expertise of our breeders, makes our horses highly sought after across the globe.

Mexican sport horse breeders

Established in 1995, we focus on promoting the progress of breeding sport horses in Mexico using the best European bloodlines. A system was developed that allows us to keep records in an orderly and secure manner, in this way we can provide breeders with a reliable platform for safeguarding their information.

Over time we have managed to obtain Mexican horses with great characteristics and we have used these specimens (stallions and mares) so that more local breeders can have a quality leap in their crosses. We have also managed to have excellent geldings that have a high performance in the sport.

We promote the development of the Mexican sport horse through free jumping events, approval of stallions and approval of mares. Al so, in conjunction with the Mexican Equestrian Federation, the national circuit of young horses was established, which has the purpose of promoting the breeding of young horses and serves as a platform for the development of equestrian sport.

The CDE Studbook

The CDE Stud Book (Spanish Sport Horse) was founded in 1999 and its management is carried out by ANCADES (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SPANISH SPORT HORSE BREEDERS), with a production of 1,200 specimens per year.

Our horses participate in the three Olympic disciplines and in Endurance, highlighting the Olympic medal by NEREO with ANDREW NICHOLSON in LONDON Eventing.

In the recent Olympic Games in Paris, two CDE horses have participated in the jumping events.

Our horses regularly take part in the World Championships for Young Horses in Jumping, Eventing and Dressage and they compete, with international success, representing 39 countries.

The German Sport Horse

With almost 9500 warmblood mares and 9000 small horse or Haflinger mares, the Society Deutsches Sportpferd (formerly Süddeutsche Pferdezuchtverbände) is the largest breeders‘ association in Germany. In 1990, the breeding associations in the south founded the society in order to organize championship shows, foal shows and combine their marketing activities.

The five warmblood associations (Bavarian Horse Breeders‘ Association, Brandenburg-Anhalt Horse Breeders‘ Association, Baden-Württemberg Horse Breeders‘ Association, Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar Horse Breeders‘ Association and Saxony-Thuringia Horse Breeders‘ Association) set a milestone in 2014 when they decided to jointly manage the studbook of the German Sport Horse (DSP). However, as before, in independent associations to ensure regional support for breeders.

Horses like DSP Alice, DSP Chakaria, DSP Quantaz, Elektric Blue P, or elite stallions like Quaterback and Colorit are worldwide figureheads for DSP. The biggest event are the german sporthorse stallion days in january at the Olympia equestrian center in Munich-Riem. More Informations: www. deutsches-sportpferd.de

Danish Warmblood

Danish Warmblood breeding is divided into a jumping and dressage line. Between 400 and 500 foals of jumping lineage will be born annually. A sharp selection over recent years has created a modern, rideable jumping horse with great capacity.

Danish Warmblood was successful at the first championships at Longines Tops International Arena. In the class for 6-year-old horses, Danish Warmblood won a team silver medal and a bronze medal for the team of 8-year-old horses.

How Danish Warmblood achieves its goal:

• Danish Warmblood focuses in a goal-oriented way on specialized dressage and showjumping horses to produce internationally successful top athletes with good durability (longevity) and good rideability

• A firm selection is carried out, and only the very best individuals are approved for breeding

• No stallions are approved for breeding before they have passed a performance test. This assures that only stallions with very high rideability and good functionality sires the next generation

• Danish Warmblood conducts comprehensive breeding evaluations, considering factors such as conformation, riding tests, young horse championships, and competition results. This thorough assessment process ensures the breed’s continued improvement and success

The Hannoveraner Verband

The Hannoveraner is one of the most important horse breeds worldwide. The sensational triumphs at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships in all disciplines are unparalleled and date back to the 1928 Olympic Games. No other breed can boast such a record.

The Hannoveraner Verband, based in Verden an der Aller in Germany, founded in 1922 as an association of breeders. The name «Hannoveraner» is both the founding history and the geographical origin. In 1735, King George II founded the Celle State Stud in the Kingdom of Hannover. Since then, generations of Hannoveraner breeders in Lower Saxony, Germany and worldwide have bred Hannoveraner.

Some of the currently most successful show jumpers are the Nations Cup horses Commissar Pezi by Commissario/Lord Pezi under Martin Fuchs/SUI and Starissa FRH by Stakkato Gold/Quidams Rubin under Mario Stevens/GER and the finalist at the Olympic Games in Paris, Karamell M & M by Kannan/Contendro I under Takashi Haase Shibayama/JPN.

Among the young horses, the breed is currently well represented by the Hannoveraner champion Crumble Cheesecake FRH by Crumble/Chasseur and Ole Klindworth/ GER, as well as last year’s participant in the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy, Diabolo by Don Diarado/Grey Top and Dieter Smitz/GER.

Hungarian Sport Horse breeders Association

The Hungarian Sport Horse breeders Association (HSH) aims to breed successful horses in various equestrian sports. The horse is a type with a broad genetic basis combining the successful lines of modern European sport horse breeding with the traditional values of the Hungarian horse. Our aim is to breed healthy, capable and courageous horses, which are good looking and easy to ride, suitable for even the highest level of competition. We also aim to provide excellent raw material for both domestic and foreign breeders.

HSH currently registers about 800 mares, the number of licensed stallions is close to 150, and the number of registered foals is around 800, making it one of the largest breeding associations in Hungary.

Irish Sport Horse Studbook

The Irish Sport Horse Studbook is the largest sport horse studbook in Ireland, registering over 5,000 foal per year. The foundation of the breed lies in the cross of thoroughbred and Irish Draught horses, which is now officially designated the Irish Sport Horse – Traditional Irish Horse. The aim of the Irish Sport Horse Breeding programme is to produce a performance horse that is sound, athletic with good paces and suitable temperament and capable of winning at the highest international level in FEI disciplines. There are two specific breeding directions of show jumping performance and eventing performance.

The Irish Sport Horse Studbook has a strong reputation for the breeding and production of show jumping horses. In 2023 the studbook’s showjumping ranking climbed to 6th position, where Irish Sport Horses filled four out of nine medal positions at the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. For generations, Irish Sport Horses have dominated the eventing circuit, the Studbook has been the leading eventing Studbook in the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) Studbook rankings almost every year since the conception of the rankings.

KWPN – modern sporthorses

The KWPN (Studbook of the Royal Dutch Sport Horse) is a Netherlands-based organization specializing in the breeding of jumpers, dressage horses, harness horses, and Gelder horses. Performance, durability, and attractive conformation are the most important actors on which the international success of the Dutch horse is based. The quality of the KWPN horse is renowned and praised worldwide. With 20.000 members and approximately 11.000 new foals each year, the KWPN is one of the largest sporthorse studbooks in the world and a very successful one. For years, the KWPN has held a top position in the WBFSH studbook rankings.

The goal of the KWPN is the breeding of sporthorses that perform at the top level of international equestrian sports. Likewise, it aims to breed healthy horses that happily and easily do what is expected of them. In recent years, the KWPN has amongst others produced the Olympic champions Explosion W, Big Star and Valegro. Glamourdale, Parzival and Gio won Olympic medals and many KWPNhorses took part in winning Olympic team medals. Last year the KWPN-team of seven-year-olds won the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy. We are looking forward to take part in this years edition!

Springpferdezuchtverband OldenburgInternational

The vision: top sport is our goal

Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International (OS) was founded on May 23, 2001. In the meantime, OS has grown enormously.

There was a clear objective when the Verband was founded: OS was to focus exclusively on breeding show jumpers for upper level competitions. That’s not really surprising when you hear the names of the founding directors. Right from the beginning, Paul Schockemöhle from Mühlen has been Chairman. Also onboard were Gilbert Böckmann from Lastrup and Gerd Sosath from Lemwerder, the latter of which is still the deputy chairman of the board.

Breeding first class show jumpers for international sport is the declared goal. And in accordance with this principle, especially high standards are set at OS on the ability of the horse to jump, its willingness to perform, rideability, reaction speed as well as robustness health-wise. OS concentrates its breeding endeavors on bringing the best performance genes together, last but not least to promote improvements in breeding as quickly as possible.

At OS, great value is placed on stallions and mares that have already proved themselves in competitions. Examples of some OS success guarantors are Greya, who placed fourth at the World Cup Final in Riyadh under Kent Farrington, and shooting star First Lady, who won numerous international show jumping competitions under McLain Ward.

The Belgian Sport Horse SBS Studbook

There would be no exciting horse competitions without quality horses!

Initially started in 1920 under the name of “The Society for Encouraging the Breeding of Army Horses”, our studbook evolved continuously throughout the years, and in 1991 became the Royal Society Belgian Sport Horse – SBS Studbook as we know it today, ranking in the top studbooks worldwide.

A studbook would be nothing without its breeders: the passion, the expertise and the know-how of our breeders result in them excelling in producing horses that qualify for the highest levels in the sport and are truly appreciated by the best riders in the world: Olympic Champions, World Champions, and many others. The excellent reputation of the Belgian Sport Horse is firmly established within the sports’ sphere. Among the greatest SBS ambassadors, let’s mention ALL-IN (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Andiamo), 2 Individual Silver medals in the past Olympic Games (2016 & 2021) a Team Gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 and much more Champion titles along his career with Peder Fredriscon (SWE), HH AZUR GARDEN’S HORSES (E.O.) (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Sir Lui), ranked in the individual top 10 of the Olympic Games in 2016, winner of the World Cup finals of Omaha in 2017 and several other Grand Prix and World’s championships with McLain Ward (USA).

The Selle Français horse

Ranked No. 1 in the 2023 WBFSH Jumping Ranking, the Selle Français stands as the current leader among studbooks. The medals won during the Paris Olympic Games are a testament to this: the Selle Français horse is modern and perfectly meets the demands of contemporary sport, continuously evolving since its inception 60 years ago.

Legendary names like Diamant de Semilly, Quidam de Revel, and Nino des Buissonnets still resonate today, alongside those currently elevating the Selle Français Studbook to the highest levels of international show jumping, such as Dallas Vegas Batilly, Dynamix de Bélhème, Dorai d’Aiguilly, Caracole de la Roque and Dubai du Cèdre—all medalists in Versailles.

The success of these great champions is directly linked to the careful selection and daily efforts of the Selle Français studbook. Our participation in the WBFSH Jumping Global Champions Trophy aligns with this philosophy of training young horses. We are committed to ensuring that the best representatives of the 5/6/7-year-old circuits but also 8 and oldest best horses to showcase their talents in the Valkenswaard arena. In this regard, we are diligently working on selecting horses for this competition, in collaboration with the Société Hippique Française and the Fédération Française d’Équitation.

Our participation in 2023 was already marked by outstanding performances, we are confident that 2024 will be even better!

Swedish Warblood Association

The Swedish way to international success!

Through tradition, collaboration and development in stride with time, we achieve quality and results that are among the best in the world. Lately, showjumpers like Point Break, Catch Me Not S, Hello Valentino and Iron Dames Singclair have achieved great results on international top level.

The Swedish Warmblood horse comes of a long-standing tradition with a philosophy based on natural resources, sustainability and soundness. Our climate and landscape are perfect for the horses’ well-being. Our horses usually grow up in freedom, roaming large areas of land, in social contact with other horses. The understanding that horses are individuals that demand respect for each, and every horse’s trait and natural abilities is an important part of the whole picture.

There is strong collaboration between breeding and sport in Sweden as well as between training and future performance. This shows not least at SWB Equestrian Weeks each year during the first week of October at ancient Flyinge Stud where the best young horses compete. Many of them have later showed their ability on international top level. At this event, there’s also the excellent opportunity to purchase a future star at the SWB Elite Foal Auction.

The Westphalian Studbook

Modern breeding association with over 100 years of breeding and success.

The history of the Westphalian Studbook founded in 1904 spans a proud 120 years - A time of change and the future of horse breeding.

From small beginnings, the association has developed into a modern breeding association as an umbrella organization for Westphalian breeding families, breeding facilities and stud farms, which today represents the interests of over 8,500 members in 24 districts and embodies the Westphalian idea of horse breeding.

We are “at home” in Münster-Handorf, where the office is embedded in the horse and event centre of the Westphalian association.

Warmblood Studbook of Ireland

The Warmblood Studbook of Ireland (WSI) was founded in 2009 with the goal of developing an Irish breed of warmblood sport horse that is competitive in showjumping, eventing, and dressage at top levels of sport. WSI stays at the forefront of the Irish equestrian industry by using rigorous and sophisticated selection systems, including genomic selection, and by offering breeders access to helpful resources and a supportive network of experts.

WSI breeders have established a reputation for producing versatile and talented sport horses with exceptional athleticism and character, and with valuable pedigrees based on continental warmblood genetics. Every Irish Warmblood has a sire and damsire that is either approved by a WBFSH studbook or is a Thoroughbred or other purebred, an important characteristic that differentiates WSI in Ireland.

Whether you are an established breeder or just starting out, WSI provides the guidance and assistance necessary to succeed in the competitive world of sport horse breeding. Join WSI members and breeders in a dozen countries and be part of Ireland’s proud tradition of producing worldclass equine athletes.

POWERED

Studbook Zangersheide vzw

Studbook Zangersheide vzw was founded in 1992 by Léon Melchior with the ambition to breed showjumping horses of the highest quality. Studbook Zangersheide vzw triggered a revolution in the showjumping world, by focusing on performance breeding, which until then had been a regional and protectionist affair. Nowadays Studbook Zangersheide ranks amongst the largest studbooks across the world and worldwide more than 10,000 foals per year are registered with that characteristic ‘Z’ suffix behind their names. Zangersheide horses are competitive, fast and perfectly adapted to the contemporary showjumping sport, which is why they are so incredibly popular all over the world. Think for example Beauville N.O.P. Z, Dexter Fontenis Z and Legacy (ex. Chavantele Z) who week after week excel at the largest events in the world!

Annually, Studbook Zangersheide awards €30,000 to breeders of Z-horses achieving international success. The breeders of the top 3 in the Z-Ranking are celebrated during the ‘FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses’. At the same event, Studbook Zangersheide presents the €30,000 Zangersheide Super Premium for Breeders to the breeders of the top 3 horses in each age category, irrespective of their registered studbook. Moreover, 2% of the prize money in any ranking class of a Zangersheide-organized competition is granted to the horse breeders. We hope this will inspire other organizations to do the same in order to reward and involve breeders more in the sport.

Our new ENVIROGREEN range is engineered from recycled plastic yarn and natural Bamboo Charcoal tex tile. We are committed to innovation through green technology because we care about the environment and the world we live in.

The Fu ture is Green.

Zuchtverband CHSportpferde ZVCHSwiss Warmblood

The breeding of warmblood horses has a long tradition in Switzerland, dating back to the monks of Einsiedeln Abbey in the Middle Ages.

Today, Swiss breeders utilise the best genetics from the European high breeding areas. Around 80% of the horses are bred for jumping. Around 400 foals are born per year. Around 40-50 of them are marketed at 2 auctions.

At the age of 3, the horses pass the field performance test (conformation, free jumping, test under the rider). The best horses are selected for the Swiss Breed Classic and the super final at the CHI Geneva in December.

A highlight is the annual Swiss Championships for Young Horses in Avenches in September.

Currently well-known show jumpers from Swiss breeding are Priam du Roset by Plot-Blue - Tanael du Serein - Filou (breeder: Family Rizzoli , Genthod), who became German Show Jumping Champion in 2023 with Markus Ehning, and Blues d’Aveline CH by Baloussini – Coriall (breeder: Family Bussmann , Zug), who won the World Cup jumping competition in Leipzig with Gerit Nieberg in 2023.

The ZVCH currently has around 1,500 members. It is based in Avenches at the Swiss National Stud.
