Being born Asian American, I have always struggled with my identity and was unsure which side of the spectrum I leaned toward the most. As a child, I have always been seen as the odd one out, a yellow dot amongst the white and brown mixture. I was usually either one of the only Asian kids in each of my classes, or was one of the few. I have always been picked on for my skin color and having smaller eyes, which caused me to be insecure. It was hard for me to adapt to this environment especially with having immigrant parents, who weren’t able to help me with school and such. Nevertheless, as time went on, I was able to embrace my unique features and show people that it is amazing to be different. I am Chinese-American and I am proud.
