In this issue, Expozure showcases our very first WFF Pro-Am event, Kahma Classic that recently took place with a grand total price pool of $35,000. After the Kahma Classic we look forward to our Next WFF Pro-Am Ms Galaxy event that will be run by Paul and Con Gallanos. Following that we have the Adelaide GP organised by Rob Strangis, another WFF Pro-Am Commonwealth Classic by Blair Loveday and Cheryl Frost then to finish April with Newcastle Night of the Champions run again by Paul and Con Gallanos. Message from our

WFF World President Following on from the huge success of the recent KAHMA Classic in March where an unreserved $35,000 Cash prize fund was distributed amongst WFF Professional Male & Female athletes including: Bodybuilders, Sports, Bikini and Bermuda Models we now move into our April extravaganza.

This is a very significant month for WFF international globally with plenty of exciting opportunities including PRO-AM events connected to FIBO Germany, ACTIFIT Singapore, plus our All Female spectacular, the Ms Galaxy Sydney. Rounding off April is the not-to-bemissed Commonwealth Classic, held in Brisbane on 22 April, promoted by the PROCOMP team. At the same time, we are working to optimize our performance at the grass roots level; our global footprint is spreading outside of Europe the historical permanent home of the WFF into Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America and most recently the Balkan States including Croatia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Albania, Kosovo, Romania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey. In 2014 the WFF Universe was introduced into the Asian community through our Korean President/ promoter Mr Jay Song. We reconfigured the five Bodybuilding categories and created the Bikini and Sports Model classes for both

Men and Women and most recently the Mr Bermuda Beach Model category. With now over 50 country members adopting our one show format and athlete height/weight/ age classification we look forward to returning to Asia. This year’s PRO-AM Universe will be staged in Singapore on Sunday July 1st by our WFF Asia Vice President/promoter Mr You Qiang Dennis Tew and his team. On this positive note, I look forward to sharing the travelling opportunities and adventures connected with our WFF local and International events, remember you can’t make a come-back if you haven’t been anywhere. “THE MUSCLE TOUR MUST GO ON.” Kind regards, Graeme Lancefield M +61 408 350 983 info@wff-international.com www.worldfitnessacademy.com www.wff-international.com

Pro Director WFF INTERNATIONAL

Following a number of queries regarding the suitability of WFF Pro competitors taking part in amateur competitions in other organisations, we wish to clarify the WFF international position on awarding WFF Pro status, and the rights and responsibilities of competitors who accept WFF Pro Status. Becoming a professional in any sport or chosen field should be seen as a privilege.

It is only possible to maintain an active Pro Division with enough competitors and financial backing to make it viable. A professional league must also be underpinned by integrity of athletes, judges, officials and spectators. Accepting WFF Pro Status means that a competitor has risen above the amateur ranks and is able to compete at a higher level for prize money and other awards. WFF does not endorse ‘trophy hunting’, that is where a professional competitor enters amateur events simply to win titles and trophies. This sort of behaviour is not in the spirit of good sportsmanship and detracts from the positive culture of amateur competition. WFF encourages all athletes to determine for themselves the best path for their competitive career and offers more than 20 international events each year where WFF Pro athletes can compete. From April 2018 onwards, WFF Pro Competitors who enter amateur bodybuilding and fitness competitions will be understood to have relinquished their pro status and will return to amateur status within the WFF. Athletes subject to this ruling may only be awarded WFF Pro Status again in accordance with the WFF Pro Division Regulations. This is a provisional ruling by the WFF International Committee and will be formally included in the WFF Pro Division Regulations following the upcoming WFF International Annual General Meeting in Singapore on 30 June 2018. It’s certainly shaping up to be a big year for the WFF. With 25 ProAm events being staged around the

world, this is without a doubt our biggest year to date. Just a few shorts years ago we began with two WFF Pro Qualifiers at the 2014 World and Universe Championships. In 2015 we had just five Pro-Am events on the international calendar. Things have certainly changed, in a big way. We are very excited to see so many of our WFF Pro athletes return to the stage in 2018, and we can’t wait to welcome our new class of women and men as they join the pro division. Following a number of queries about WFF Pro competitors taking part in amateur competitions in other organisations, we wish to clarify the WFF international position on awarding WFF Pro status, and the rights and responsibilities of competitors who accept WFF Pro Status. Becoming a professional in any sport or chosen field should be seen as a privilege. career and in 2018 we have 25 international events where WFF Pro athletes can compete. To avoid doubt, this does not include WFF Pro Aerobics competitors. WFF Pro Aerobics competitors are judged solely on the technical difficulty and other aspects of their routine, not on their physique. WFF understands that injuries related to aerobics training can sometimes leave athletes unable to compete for extended periods. To ensure that Pro Aerobics competitors are always able to participate fully in WFF events, they may enter WFF amateur classes in Bikini, Sports Model or Figure at their discretion. This is a provisional ruling by the WFF International Committee and will be formally included in the WFF Pro Division Regulations following the upcoming WFF International Annual General Meeting in Singapore on 30 June 2018. We hope to see you on the muscle tour this year. Stay hungry! Blair Loveday Pro-Director WFF International.

WFF KAHMA CLASSIC 2018 Editor :Daniel Lancefield

The 2018 Kahma Classic saw the stakes raised once again as Kamaldip Singh put together a $35,000 prize pool across seven WFF Pro classes. This was a special day that saw the return to the stage of Robert Borgonha, following an almost two year absence from the stage. The 2016 Pro Universe Champion was in great form, but the six other men in the Pro lineup didn’t make it easy for him with new WFF Pro, Shaun Mason and past Kahma Classic winner Stacy Papadopoulos doing everything they could to make Borgonha work hard. In the end he would clinch the victory in what was certainly a nail biter for the everyone on and off the stage

Expozure April Issue - 2018

Katy Lamb from the Northern Territory realised one of her long time goals by earning her pro card in Figure. She then went up against 2017 Kahma Classic runner up, Lee-Anne Ammitzboll. With her trademark condition on point, Lee-Anne Ammitzboll would take the top spot in 2018 and her first WFF Pro victory.

In what seemed like a repeat of 2017 the men’s pro sports model once again saw 2016 Pro Sports Model Champion, Mathew Zeven, and 2017’s champion, Jarvis Murian, face off as the final two in the pro sports mode lineup. Last year Murian knocked Zeven out of first place, but the tide was turned in Zeven’s favour this year. Mathew Zeven joined David Cutler as the only other two time Pro Kahma Classic Champion.

Expozure April Issue - 2018

In another repeat performance, Tammy Balfour, Kim Lawless and Lindsay Bassani, our 2017 Pro Australian Champions in Sports Model, Bikini and Beach Model respectively, all took to the stage and walked away victorious. Each one an absolute standout and setting the standard high as we move towards our next WFF Pro Events this year.

Expozure April Issue - 2018

Another return to the stage saw last year’s aerobics pro card recipient, Emily Collins, perform a Moana inspired routine. Her skills in circus and acrobatics certainly thrilled the audience and earned her the Pro Aerobics title for 2018. Finally, over the course of three rounds, Bridget Bailey proved she is definitely a woman who can do it all. The aerobics pro had suffered an injury following her Pro Australian win in 2017 and so entered he Glamour Class this time. The class lived up to its name and Bailey was certainly glamorous with her own unique flair, and always having fun.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Kahma Classic this year. We look forward to seeing you on the muscle tour again in 2018 and beyond.

Interview with

Mario

Zwingmann Natural Aesthetics! By Daniel Lancefield

It’s only been a few short years for Mario Zwingmann but in that time he has accomplished almost everything that some athletes work for over decades. With some big wins to his name, Zwingmann, who is originally from Germany, started competing in Singapore while he lived there back in 2015. Now based in Chicago, USA with his family, he has his sights set on the big titles this year, with a chance to represent Germany on the international stage. He works very closely with WFF Germany President, Markus Kittner, who is hosting the WFF European Championships in June this year. After winning his WFF Pro Card at the 2016 Asia Pacific Championships in Adelaide, Australia, Zwingmann has travelled with us around the world and inspired many upcoming WFF competitors with his outstanding physique. He firmly believes that the best is yet to come and we can’t wait to see him step up on stage to defend his title this year at the WFF Universe in Singapore. After a competition you will find this champion enjoying an Ice cream and a Beer with everyone on the Muscle Tour Bus. Mario is one of the most genuine people in bodybuilding, always with a smile on his face, and a consummate professional. You can follow his progress on Instagram @ mario_worldpro

DD: So Mario, tell us about when you started competing? MZ: I had my first competition in November 2015 as Men’s Physique Athlete (tall class). The most astonishing thing was that I decided to enter a bodybuilding and Physique show, with only two weeks of preparation. Some gym mates convinced me to try my luck on stage as they were seeing a good physique and potential in me. So, I decided to enter my first show with just 2 weeks out. Well, I have not won it, but placed as 5th in my category, which was pretty good, for the little preparation time I had. Despite the fact that I was not as lean and cut, as I could have been with longer preparation, it was probably my posing that cost me a better placing. Most of my posing practice started only 2 days prior the show. My wife was helping me to record my posing practice based on whatever I could find from YouTube. However, what I learnt on that very day and behind stage, was everything I needed to prepare for my next show, which took place just few months later, where I came out as first runners up in my category.

Expozure April Issue - 2018

DD: You’ve been all over the world now. Which international competition has been your major highlight so far and why? MZ: Definitely my two WFF Universe Championships! I am still pumped about winning the prestigious title in my category last year. Being able to compete in my first Universe Championship in 2016 was like a dream come true. I did not even expect to get placed, but I did and finished 2nd. Who would expect to stand on such a big international stage in Orlando USA in 2016, which took place, only 8 months after my very first competition?! I challenged the same championship again in 2017 and finally, clinched the title, beating many other competitors! Competition was fierce that night! I have been very fortunate, when I became a NABBA/WFF Singapore sponsored Athlete and even more fortunate, when winning my first PRO title in Adelaide, with only about one month before the WFF Universe Championship. I basically planned every show with just 4-6 weeks ahead of it and managed to compete 8 times from November 2016 to the End of 2017. DD: What does a typical week in the gym look like for you? MZ: Monday is chest day or upper chest with shoulders Tuesday is back day Wednesday is leg day or off-day Thursday often off-day Friday, I would very often train super-set or two muscle groups like chest and back Saturday or Sunday is shoulder and

Expozure April Issue - 2018

arms or another hamstring and calf workout I like to have 2 rest days during my on-season and sometimes 3 rest days during my off-season. As a natural athlete, I learned the importance, of giving my muscle the rest, it needs to recover. I try training my weak spots twice a week and areas like abs and arms only once in 2 or 3 weeks time. DD: I know you have a sweet tooth, but what is your favorite cheat food? MZ: That’s simple, Ice Cream! I will have ice cream (no added sugar) once or twice in the same month of a competition. There was once, where I had a beer with one week out, but you can’t tell, that I had a beer or ice cream, if you saw me the following day. My body could take that, as I was lean over the entire year, due to all the competitions in 2016. I didn’t want to look flat, so I allowed myself a cheat once every 2 weeks. DD: For someone in your position, who has achieved in the last few years what some people work towards their whole life, what’s next? MZ: Defending the WFF Universe title in Singapore and perhaps a World Championship title In USA. I am a fully natural athlete and I feel that I have not reached my absolute

maximum potential yet. There might also be a possibility, that I will try competing in other advanced bodybuilding categories, if I see my body developing in that direction or perhaps, when I manage to gain another 5kg of lean muscle. DD: Everyone seems to have their magic secret for getting into condition. What gives you the best results when you’re getting ready for a show? MZ: I don’t count my calories, I go by eye size and watch how my body reacts to different types of foods. I do have 4-6 black coffees or Espressos per day and try to cut out sugar from my diet. When cutting down on carbs, I would increase the fats and protein in my diet. I train in cardio heart rate, without doing any typical cardio exercises, but I do super-sets to keep my heart rate elevated for most of my workouts, instead of having rests over 30second between sets. I often use create my own pre-workout exercise mix,

which I share with my fans in my Instagram story. DD: Bodybuilding is as much about mental toughness, as it is physical strength and endurance. What keeps you motivated? MZ: I won’t stop training as long as I see a possibility to further development my physique. Once, I have reached my goal, I will define a new goal. I work towards a competition date, having such goals like contests provide me the extra pressure I need to stay focused. DD: It can be difficult when you look back at photos from your last comp and you think, why can’t I look like this all year round. How do you feel about yourself in your off season? MZ: I am currently transitioning from Off-Season to ON-Season and I feeling very positive, as I managed to keep my off-season weight at 7-8 kg over my last season’s stage weight of 83kg. I am certain that I can further improve my physique in this year’s competitions.

MS GALAXY MS FIGURE:

2017 WFF MS GALAXY PRO-AM DATE: 30 APRIL, 2017 VENUE: THE CONCOURSE, CHATSWOOD, SYDNEY

The amazing Chatswood Concourse was the venue for the inaugural WFF MS GALAXY PROAM as Women from all over Australia and New Zealand vied for both Amateur and Professional honours. Up for grabs was a return airfare to the WFF Universe in Brazil for the Overall PRO Winners of the Ms Figure, Ms Bikini & Ms Sportsmodel classes.

The lineups for both the Amateur and the Professional divisions were extremely competitive and the quality was some of the best seen on stage. The Gold Medal Champions for the Amateur Divisions included Vicky Thomas (Masters), Helen Brown (First Timers), Simone Moore (Novice), Aisling Speight (Performance), Amanda Clark (Athletic) and Shelley Simpson in the Superbody. With special mention going to both Aisling & Shelley for accepting their

MS BIKINI

PRO Cards after their victories. The biggest reception was reserved for the WFF Figure PRO Lineup where arguably the greatest conditioned athlete of the year, Sherrie Gossow (QLD) was victorious against other notable athletes Johanna Mountfort (NZ), Lee-Anne Ammitzboll (VIC). Sherrie brought to the stage dry, grainy and shredded condition which was difficult to match.

The softer lines and beauty and grace of the Bikini Divisions with the Gold Medals awarded to Krystal Marshall (Beginner), Courtney Froude (Junior), Bernadette Galea (Novice), Mishkita Reyez (O’30’s), Rebekah Brice (Short) & Tammy Baines (Tall). Tammy Baines carried her winning form into the PRO division where she won a closely contested battle against some of Australia’s greats, which included the first ever Bikini PRO (Bonnie Edwards). Tammy then flew over to Brazil where she represented our country to a third placing at the WFF Ms Universe.

Expozure April Issue - 2018

We move into the 2018 season with high expectations of brilliant athletes/models gracing the stage for the chance to win return airfares to represent at the WFF Universe in Singapore. MS SPORTSMODEL The firmer, more detailed and muscle toned sportsmodel division witnessed one of the greatest turnarounds. Aleysha Chapman (TAS) showed great strength and stage presence to win the PRO Division in a lineup which included Katelyn Bartlett (NSW). Both ladies qualified for the WFF Universe in Brazil on 24 June where it was Katelyn’s turn to take out a major title. Persistence and consistency is always an important facet of preparing for any show and Katelyn proved that time allows greater opportunity to refine the physique. The other standout for the day was crowning Taylah Maree Robertson (NSW) as our amateur Junior winner and qualified her for her Professional status. Taylah Maree went on to win the Asian Pacific Pro Am in November and cemented her spot as one of new breed of champions, with detailed midsection definition that is hard to beat. Other Gold Medal Champions at the Ms Galaxy included Deborah Astley (Beginner), Leah Whitfield (Novice), Renay Bull (O’30’s) and Siobhan White (Tall).

MS SUPERMODEL The 3 round Ms Supermodel division saw Katelyn Bartlett victorious in the

(O’30’s) and Sharnna Graves in the (Tall). The ladies not only presented great symmetry and proportion, but the additional evening wear round provided a chance for the ladies to present strong style and elegance.

Entries are open to both Amateur and PRO Australia & overseas athletes/models. The categories include Figure-Sports-Bikini & Glamour Models. Road to the Commonwealth Classic. With Just over 7 weeks remaining to the Commonwealth Classic, things are really heating up with a number of strong local and international teams confirming participation in the Commonwealth Classic ProAm in sunny Brisbane on the 22nd of April 2018.

The 2018 WFF Commonwealth Classic is held in commemoration and celebration of the XXI Commonwealth Games being held on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia between the 4th and 15th of April. The Commonwealth games is an international multi sport event. The Commonwealth Classic is open to all countries (not just Commonwealth Countries) only for fitness models through to bodybuilders. The first “Friendly Games” were held in Hamilton, in the province of Ontario Canada in 1930, and has taken place every four years since then (with the exception of 1942 and 1946, which were cancelled due to second World War). The most recent Commonwealth Games were held in Glasgow, Scotland in 2014. The Commonwealth Games were known as the British Empire Games from 1930–1950, the British Empire and Commonwealth Games from 1954– 1966, and British Commonwealth Games from 1970–1974. Although there are 53 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, 70 teams participate in the Commonwealth Games, as a number of dependent territories compete under their own flags. The four Home Nations of the United Kingdom—England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland—also send separate teams. Nine nations have hosted the Commonwealth Games - Australia now five times, (1938, 1962, 1982, 2006 & 2018)

- Canada has hosted four times (1930, 1954, 1978, 1994). The Commonwealth Games is an international multi sport event. The WFF/ProComp International Commonwealth Classic is open to all countries and not only Commonwealth Countries. The event caters for fitness models through to bodybuilders. The event is open to all standard of athletes and is a genuine international event to be continued every 4 years. The 1500 seat international Chandler Theatre at the Sleeman Sports Centre has been confirmed and there are a number of other potential announcements to come soon. The Commonwealth Classic ProAm has been designed for the athletes by the ProComp team in association with WFF International. We encourage any coaches or presidents to forward photos of their athletes and teams so that we can provide exposure via the Commonwealth Page. The official hotel has been chosen, complimentary shuttles to and from the event if booked through the promoter’s page has been organised, hair, make up and tanning is available onsite and can booked by each athlete via online scheduling. All services can be booked via www.procompteam.com. Athletes are advised to confirm their bookings asap as services such as hair, make up and tanning are starting to fill quite quickly in the earlier timeslots. This event is an international ProAm event. There are categories from first timers, novices, amateurs all of the way through to professional athletes. ProCards will also be awarded throughout the day in the open classes subject to international rules. We look forward to making this a truly international event and a memorable experience for all athletes.

THE MOST IMPORTANT, INFLUENTIAL, LIFE CHANGING CONVERSATIONS YOU WILL EVER HAVE ARE WITH YOURSELF.

Is the voice in your head setting you up to fail or succeed? We know the value of talking to people who praise us, reward us, recognise us, are happy to see us, and let us know they genuinely enjoy talking with us. Talk to yourself with those same qualities – silently as well as audibly.” Jim Rohn

Your language is very powerful. Do you realise that the person who influences you the most, who talks to you the most – is you? Do you want to hear have a positive, motivated, inspiring voice all day or do you want to hear the voice of a critic who disapproves and finds faults with everything you do? What do you tell yourself? That it’s too hard? That you are not good enough? Do you tell yourself that you’ve got this, you are doing great, well done!!! We have running conversations with ourselves all day each and every day. From the moment we wake until the moment we go to bed. We are constantly encouraging, supporting, energising, belittling,

believing, loving or hating ourselves. Take control of these conversations and make sure that this dialogue is supportive, positive and uplifting. Negative self-talk will destroy hope and deprive you of your dreams. If you are having a bad day and you listen to that voice… before long you have convinced yourself you are not good enough and it’s all downhill from there! The language that you use creates your emotional state. Negativity is toxic energy and is the surest way to selfdestruction and failure. Listen to how you talk to yourself. Become self-aware. It will determine your actions, your motivation, your results and ultimately, your success.

Expozure April Issue - 2018

Positive self-talk will ensure your emotional state is high and your eyes glued upon success. We all experience self-doubts. I have them too. Will I be good enough? Will I get lean enough? My advice, do the work and talk to yourself kindly. Be sure to banish all of the negative thoughts. Whenever negative thoughts creep in, I close my eyes, breathe slowly and say, “it’s going to happen, it’s all coming together. I can do this. I’ve got this.” That’s empowering for me. Try it. Think about this. The 2 most powerful words that can be uttered, are “I AM…”, because the words that follow will create your reality. What are your “I AM….” Statements? Make sure they are being used to set you up to succeed.
