We can all relate to this skunk who just really needed a beer
Dog’s dedication to chase allows him to defy the laws of physics
Let’s just see what’s going on in Florida — OH DEAR GOD WHY
A skunk that got its head stuck in a beer can is being cared for by veterinarians in Billerica, Mass. Animal control officers posted a picture of the unfortunate critter on Twitter. They called it “amazing” that the skunk’s head could fit into such a small opening and said it gave new meaning to the term “skunked beer.” Police said the skunk was taken to Tufts Wildlife Clinic in North Grafton after being found Wednesday. A pit bull chasing an opossum was foiled when he got wedged 100 feet into a pipe in Claremont, N.C. Rescue Chief Eric Jones said his agency was called late Tuesday to the scene by Rocky’s worried owner. The rescuers dug holes in different locations to try to find Rocky, eventually locating him at a junction between the cast iron and corrugated pipe. It took two hours for rescuers to free the 2-foot-tall dog from the 1-foot-tall pipe. (AP)
A massive gator measuring nearly 12 feet long has been caught in South Florida. A spokeswoman for Jupiter Police said a trapper caught the unusually large gator near an office park Thursday after a business owner reported it. It weighed nearly 750 pounds and is being taken to a gator farm in central Florida. The department posted pictures of officers wrangling the gator, which have been shared more than 800 times. (AP)

City erupts after U-Va. earns its first Final Four appearance in 35 years CHARLOTTESVILLE The sticky floor started shaking with 5.7 seconds to play Saturday night and didn’t come to rest until the third chorus of the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” had died down. By then, the fact that the Virginia Cavaliers had advanced to their first men’s Final Four since 1984 with an 80-75 overtime win over Purdue had sunk in, and everyone flung their arms around one another and sang Virginia’s alma mater. “Wahoo-[expletive]-wa!” one woman yelled. It took only a few minutes for the overcapacity crowd at Boylan Heights bar to clear out and for the street party at the corner of Main Street and 14th near the University of Virginia campus to get underway. Formally dressed couples came running down the street, having left sorority and fraternity events to join the fray. Girls climbed on

Does state’s abuse bill actually help cover-ups?
DON’T ‘KISS OR SNUGGLE’
CDC links hedgehogs, salmonella
MARYLAND Two years ago, Maryland lawmakers made it easier for adults sexually abused as children to sue institutions that harbored predators. They may have also irreversibly granted some immunity to the Catholic Church. A provision tucked into a 2017 law now stands in the way of Maryland joining a nationwide effort to bring justice to victims who come to terms with childhood abuse when they reach middle age and, for decades, have had no recourse in civil courts. The language was pushed by lobbyists for the Catholic Church two years ago as part of a compromise to extend Maryland’s civil statute of limitations from age 25 to 38. Because it forbids the state from raising the maximum age above 38, it effectively inoculates the church and other organizations from costly lawsuits that could reveal whether they sheltered abusers decades ago. State lawmakers who heralded the 2017 compromise now say they were swindled. “I made a deal with the devil,” said Del. C.T. Wilson, D-Charles, the sponsor of the 2017 law and a survivor of child sex abuse. Sean Caine, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Baltimore,

said the church was upfront. “If you don’t know what your bill says, that’s a problem,” he said. Two different legal opinions — written by a Maryland assistant attorney general and a lawyer for the church — say the “statute of repose” provision in the 2017 law effectively grants organizations a permanent reprieve from child sex abuse allegations filed by someone older than 38. Unlike a statute of limitations, which addresses how long parties have to sue and can be changed by lawmakers, a statute of repose grants defendants a right to be free from liability after a certain point. Such provisions are often used in product liability law to
limit a company’s legal exposure decades after a product is released into the market. Some legal experts, including the attorney general’s office, argue it is unconstitutional in Maryland to take such rights away. But state lawmakers might use the final days of the 2019 session to do it anyway. Amid the global clergy sexual abuse scandal, a growing number of states are creating a “lookback window,” a brief period when anyone can file a lawsuit alleging childhood abuse to seek both monetary damages and records that expose whether abuse was covered up. Every hedgehog has its thorn. Two months after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised people not to “kiss or snuggle hedgehogs” because of a salmonella outbreak, the federal health agency announced that six more people in three more states, including Virginia, have fallen ill after coming into contact with the prickly pets. As of Friday, 17 people nationwide have been infected with a strain of Salmonella typhimurium. No one has died, but two people were hospitalized. Fairfax County legalized household hedgehogs in January, but the Virginia cases appear to be in the southwest region. (TWP)

Police said Richard Joseph Dorman, 59, of Germantown, Md., was arrested Friday and charged with 21 counts of second-degree burglary in the incidents. In almost all cases, police said, cash was taken. nation+world Israelis open crossings, expand fishing limits after week of violence
MIDDLE EAST A cease-fire deal appeared to take hold between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers Sunday, with Israel expanding the permitted fishing zone and easing some restrictions on movement through its two main crossings with the Palestinian enclave. Egyptian mediators have worked in recent days to broker a cease-fire agreement, but talks have been repeatedly interrupted by Palestinian rocket attacks and Israeli military reprisals. The violence has heightened tensions just over a week before Israeli
national elections. In a sign that Egyptian efforts have made progress, the Gaza fishermen’s committee said Israel would be extending the permitted fishing zone along the Mediterranean coast to a maximum of 15 nautical miles, up from the previous limit of nine nautical miles. Fishing had been off-limits since Gaza militants launched a rocket toward Tel Aviv last week, touching off rounds of short but intense cross-border fighting between the bitter enemies. Israeli officials confirmed that the reopening of the fishing zone would go into effect today. The lifting of some restrictions on the passage of people and cargo in and out of Gaza further

for guarantees of quiet. Israeli and Hamas officials confirmed that the Erez and Kerem Shalom border crossings were reopened, in a very restricted fashion, for the first time since violence flared up last Monday. The first steps toward the restoration of calm were nonetheless punctuated by exchanges of fire along the border. Four Palestinians, including three teenagers, were killed by Israeli fire Saturday as tens of thousands of people took part in mass rallies. Nearly 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in the past year, while one Israeli soldier was killed last summer by a Palestinian sniper in Gaza. ISABEL DEBRE (AP)

GOP angst builds over ACA attack
Judge: School can’t force girls to wear skirts
POLITICS Republicans have no intention of heeding President Trump’s urgent demands for a new health care plan to replace the Affordable Care Act, fearing the potential political damage that such a proposal could cause in 2020 and hoping he will soon drop the idea, according to interviews with numerous GOP lawmakers, legislative staffers and administration aides. Not only is there no such health care overhaul in the works on Capitol Hill — there are no plans to make such a plan. Senate Republicans, who were caught off guard by Trump’s rapid shift to focus on health care last week, said the White House would need to make the first move by putting forward its own proposal. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., does not intend to wade extensively into the issue, senators and aides said. Nor does Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, whose panel would be central to any such debate. When asked whether the two Senate committees overseeing health care policy are planning to draft a replacement proposal for the Affordable Care Act, Grassley responded flatly: “No.” “Obamacare is something that’s not going to be replaced unless the courts would declare it unconstitutional,” Grassley said in an interview. “You won’t know
that for a long time.” The renewed debate over health care policy was set off by Trump’s abrupt decision last week directing the Justice Department to intervene in a federal court case seeking to eliminate the ACA in its entirety on constitutional grounds. Trump declared that the Republican Party “will soon be known as the party of health care.” Although the outcome of that case is far from certain, the Trump administration’s aggressive move in court sparked panic among many Republicans — and a measure of glee among Democrats — over the prospect of a protracted battle over health insurance for tens of millions of Americans during a presidential election cycle. Most Republicans are particularly wary given that Democrats took control of the House after last year’s midterm elections in part because of their focus on preserving and expanding health care programs. There is little indication any health care plan will materialize — or advance in Congress. But White House counselor Kellyanne Conway maintained Sunday that Republicans are “working on a plan.” “There is a plan,” she said. “We’ve been working on a plan for a long time. And we hope that Congress would come along.” McConnell has no plans to put together a working group of

John Barrasso, Wyo.: The No. 3 in Senate leadership is a physician and has drafted legislation promoting short-term, limitedduration health insurance. Sen. Bill Cassidy, La.: Also a physician, he was one of the lead authors of GOP health care legislation in 2017 that would have turned money for Medicaid and ACA subsidies into block grants for states, which could then use the money for any health care system they wanted. Republican lawmakers to draft a health care blueprint as he did in 2017, according to one official familiar with party strategy. Grassley said no hearings are planned on replacing Obamacare in his committee, and Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., who leads the Senate’s major health panel, said his focus is working on “reducing health care costs” and emphasized bipartisan efforts to do so. “We are very eager to see what the White House submits for Congress to consider,” said one senior Republican aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. “Until then, Republicans will focus instead on their legislative agenda and confirming Trump appointments.” SEUNG MIN KIM AND JOSH DAWSEY (THE WASHINGTON POST)
COURTS A North Carolina charter school promoting traditional values engaged in unconstitutional sex discrimination by requiring girls to wear skirts, a federal judge ruled last week. U.S. District Judge Malcolm Howard ruled that Charter Day School can’t enforce the skirtsonly rule as part of its dress code that punishes violators with suspensions and even expulsion. No child has been expelled for violating the dress code since the school opened in 2000, Howard said. But girls are clearly treated differently than boys at the kindergarten through 8th grade school in Leland, Howard ruled. That’s a violation of the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection requirements. Members of the school’s board said its student uniform is part of its traditional values education known to parents when they enroll their children. The guardians of three girls attending the school sued in 2016. They said the dress code forces girls to be colder in the winter and “forces them to pay constant attention to the positioning of their legs during class … and has led them to avoid certain activities altogether, such as climbing or playing sports during recess, all for fear of exposing their undergarments and being reprimanded by teachers or teased by boys,” the judge said in summarizing the plaintiffs’ arguments. Cuts intended to punish three Central American nations over migration
UKRAINE MARIO TAMA (GETTY IMAGES)
IMMIGRATION President Trump plans to slash hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to three Central American countries in retaliation for what he called their lack of help in reducing the flow of migrants to the U.S. border. The move is one of Trump’s harshest yet as he escalates a confrontation with Mexico and Central America over a surge in irregular migration, largely involving children and families seeking asylum. Trump has already warned that he could close the U.S.-Mexico border — or at least large stretches of it — in the coming week unless Mexico takes further steps to halt the flow of migrants. The State Department said in a statement Saturday that it would be “ending … foreign assistance programs for the Northern Triangle” — a region encompassing El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. The move would affect nearly $500 million in 2018 funds and millions more left over from the prior fiscal year. Trump’s action was the culmination of a months-long battle in the U.S. government over the program, which grew substantially under the Obama administration and was intended to address the root causes of migration — violence, lack of jobs and poverty. Some Trump administration

officials thought the program had failed to achieve enough results and in recent months have been looking into alternatives. But the president’s decision to cut off the remaining funds appeared to take many people by surprise. The number of apprehensions along the U.S.-Mexico border has been soaring, with more than 76,000 migrants taken into U.S. custody in February, most of them from Central America. On Friday night, during a trip to Florida, Trump faulted governments in the region for the increase. “I’ve ended payments to Guatemala, to Honduras and El Salvador. No more money is going there anymore,” Trump told reporters. Aid groups and former officials
Doubling down In interviews Sunday, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said President Trump’s threat to close the U.S.Mexico border should be taken seriously. On “Fox News Sunday,” Conway also disputed the idea that cutting aid to Central America would increase migration. “The conditions are already awful,” she said. (TWP)
said Trump’s action could boomerang by shrinking or eliminating some of the very programs keeping would-be migrants in Central America. “Ironically, our goals of having
people stay and thrive in El Salvador are very similar to the current administration’s,” said Ken Baker, chief executive of Glasswing International, which runs education, health and entrepreneurship programs in El Salvador. Jim Nealon, a former U.S. ambassador to Honduras, said that Trump doesn’t seem to understand the way the Central American aid program works. The U.S. government doesn’t give the money to foreign governments, but rather “to programs designed and implemented by the U.S., with the cooperation of governments and civil society,” he said. “If it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully. But it was never my intention.” FORMER VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN, responding to allegations of unwanted touching made by Nevada politician Lucy Flores. “Not once — never — did I believe I acted inappropriately,” Biden said of his behavior toward women in general.

Comedian tops exit polls as election goes to runoff Comedian Volodymyr Zelensky came out ahead in the first round of the Ukrainian presidential election on Sunday, according to exit polls, a sign of widespread discontent with the political establishment. Incumbent President Petro Poroshenko was in second place. Former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko was close behind, and it appeared she and Poroshenko would be vying for second place as results came in Sunday evening. No candidate is expected to win more than half the votes, so Zelensky will face Poroshenko or Tymoshenko in a runoff on April 21. (AP) TURKEY
Erdogan’s ruling party leads municipal elections Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said late Sunday his ruling party had emerged the winner of Turkey’s mayoral elections “by a wide margin” and had dealt a blow to those who he said tried to bring Turkey to its knees. Erdogan spoke after preliminary results showed that his party had gained about 45 percent of the votes, but lost the Ankara mayoral seat to the main opposition after 25 years. The voting was marred by scattered violence that killed at least four people and injured dozens of others across Turkey. (AP)

NCAA TOURNAMENT
Spartans stymie Duke
MSU’s Winston outshines Zion and Co. as coach Izzo reaches his 8th Final Four MICHIGAN STATE 68, DUKE 67 Cassius Winston put Michigan State on his shoulders Sunday and carried the Spartans into the Final Four. The do-everything junior point guard took over the game when his team faced its biggest deficit and led second-seeded Michigan State to a 68-67 victory over overall No. 1 seed Duke in the East Region final at Capital One Arena in Washington. Duke (32-6) boasted the biggest stars in Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett, but Winston shined brightest to put Michigan State in the Final Four for the first time since 2015. Winston had 20 points and 10 assists, made nine of his 23 shots and never shied away from shooting. Michigan State (32-6) will play Texas Tech in the second national semifinal Saturday in Minneapolis. Winston was the facilitator
but the Spartans received a huge boost from their oldest player. Kenny Goins, a fifth-year senior who missed his first four 3-point attempts but drained the goahead 3 with 34.3 seconds left to put Michigan State up 68-66. Duke had a chance to tie, but Barrett missed the first of two free throws with 5.2 seconds left. Duke was helpless to stop play with only four team fouls, and Winston was able to get the ball away from the Duke defenders and dribble out the clock. Michigan State is in the Final Four for the eighth time under coach Tom Izzo, who beat Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski for just the second time in 13 meetings and the second time in seven NCAA Tournament games. Williamson, a freshman who almost certainly will be the top pick in the NBA draft in June, finished with a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds. Barrett had 21 points. STEPHEN WHYNO (AP)
Auburn surprises Kentucky to reach its first Final Four, where it will face U-Va.
AUBURN 77, KENTUCKY 71 (OT) With Chuma and Chuck providing the inspiration, Auburn combined 3-point shooting with a furious fast-break game that Kentucky could not overcome Sunday and advanced to the Final Four for the first time in program history with a 77-71 victory in overtime in the Midwest final in Kansas City. Sophomore forward Chuma Okeke, who tore his ACL in a Sweet 16 game against North Carolina, arrived at halftime to cheer his teammates from a wheelchair behind the bench. And in a studio somewhere, Auburn’s Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley, went a little nuts as the fifth-seeded Tigers beat the second-seeded Wildcats, advancing to a semifinal Saturday against Virginia in Minneapolis. It was, as an emotional Barkley put it from the studio, “a total team effort. A total team effort. This was the greatest day

in Auburn basketball history.” To advance to Friday’s game, Virginia had to overcome an electrifying performance Saturday night by Purdue guard Carsen Edwards, who scored 42 points but missed a shot late in overtime with the Boilermakers trailing by a point. The junior went 10-for-19 from beyond the 3-point arc and was named the South regional’s most outstanding player, the first from a losing team to do so since Davidson’s Stephen Curry. Edwards finished the tournament with 139 points in four games. (THE WASHINGTON POST)
Virginia junior guard Kyle Guy shook off an ugly shooting slump just in time Saturday night. Guy, nearly a 44 percent career 3-point shooter, went 3-for-28 through the first three games of the NCAA Tournament and the first half against Purdue. But he made four consecutive 3s early in the second half Saturday to help the Cavaliers win 80-75 in overtime in the South Region final in Louisville. He was 5-for-12 overall on 3s and finished with team highs in points (25) and rebounds (10) as Virginia advanced to the Final Four. Before the game, he thought quietly at courtside about people who had doubted him or his team or his coaches at Virginia. He said of the critics, “Just trying to shut them up, basically.” (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Nats get first win on walk-off HR NATIONALS 6, METS 5 The line drive danced in and out of the shadows, through the infield and over the left field grass, before it nestled into the first few rows beyond the wall Sunday. Only then did the fans at Nationals Park, so recently grumbling, erupt into cheers.
Shortstop Trea Turner had given the Nationals their first victory of the season, a 6-5 decision over the Mets, with a walkoff home run in the ninth inning. Turner had hit a three-run homer and also scored in the fifth inning to put Washington up 4-1 The Nationals led 5-2 when left-hander Patrick Corbin, making his Nationals debut, left after allowing two earned runs in six innings. He gave up seven hits and two walks while striking out

the eighth to tie the score at 5-5. Tony Sipp allowed two hits, Trevor Rosenthal yielded a runscoring single to Amed Rosario, and pinch-hitters Wilson Ramos and Juan Lagares hit two-out
RBI singles off closer Sean Doolittle to tie it. Still, Doolittle recorded five outs and picked up the victory. The win, however dicey, let the Nationals sidestep a sweep and gain some traction before welcoming Bryce Harper and the Phillies at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday after an off day today. Max Scherzer (0-1, 2.35 ERA) will be the first Nationals pitcher Harper faces. Scherzer will be making his second start in Washington’s first four games. Harper was 1-for-6 with a home run in his first two games and was batting third in the Phillies’ late game Sunday against the Braves in Philadelphia. (THE WASHINGTON POST/AP)

Samuelson, a senior, scored 29 points and second-seeded UConn held off No. 1 Louisville 80-73 in the final of the Albany Region. UConn (35-2) will play Friday in Tampa, Fla., against the winner of tonight’s Notre Dame-Stanford game in Chicago. In the other Elite Eight game Sunday, No. 2 Oregon rode the performance of Sabrina Ionescu (31 points, eight assists, seven rebounds) to beat No. 1 Mississippi State 88-84 in the final of the Portland (Ore.) Howard’s coach is out after February incident
Ovechkin hits milestone: His eighth 50-goal season
Howard won 17 games this season and appeared in a postseason tournament for the first time since 1992, but the Bison now are without a coach. Kevin Nickelberry was forced to resign as part of a buyout, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Nickelberry, 54, would not comment on the reason for his departure. On Feb. 8, the university put him on paid leave and he missed two games after an on-court fight that involved players from visiting Norfolk State as well as Howard. Nickelberry was seen being held back from an opposing player. (THE WASHINGTON POST)
Left wing Alex Ovechkin reached a milestone Saturday night at Tampa Bay, scoring his 50th and 51st goals of the season in a 6-3 Capitals victory. He became the third player in NHL history with eight 50-goal seasons — Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy are the others, with nine each. At 33, Ovechkin is just the fourth player to score at least 50 goals at this age or older. The Capitals, who remain first in the Metropolitan Division, visit Florida tonight at 7 (NBCSWA) and conclude the regular season with home games against Montreal on Thursday and the Islanders on Saturday. MUST-SEE THIS WEEK
1 ‘The Twilight Zone’ Today on CBS All Access
Hosted and executive produced by Jordan Peele, the eerie anthology series kicks off its reboot with two episodes: “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet,” starring Adam Scott, and “The Comedian,” with Kumail Nanjiani.
HBO
Julia Louis-Dreyfus practices her inevitable 12th Emmy speech while her “Veep” co-stars look on.
Hail to the chief sadist
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Selina Meyer is nastiest to other women in ‘Veep’s’ final season
TV REVIEW “Veep” returned Sunday to an unnecessary and clamorous chorus of wags who wonder if the HBO comedy can, in its seventh and final season, approximate anything as remotely absurd as Washington’s daily news cycle. Those folks have been watching “Veep” all wrong, treating the show like it’s a mirror rather than a portal to an alternate — and joyfully wicked, irreparably rotten — political universe. But let’s be honest: Satire inside the Beltway is a very blunt affair, never more sophisticated than cold-open sketches on “Saturday Night Live” that mostly just pantomime the news of the week. “Veep” works on a much deeper and more cynical level; there’s
no sadder way to watch it than to compare and contrast it to the comedy of errors America has endured since the 2016 election. “Veep” has been around a lot longer than that, lampooning the unseemly striving and fake displays of empathy in the Washington milieu since the Obama years. The show is and always was a cruelly satisfying, fully original journey into Washington’s darkest behaviors. Banish any thought that its brilliant star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, would return to the series after a personal cancer scare inclined to soften Selina Meyer for even a subliminally sentimental exit. Instead, and with great satisfaction, it appears “Veep” will go out at its nastiest and bitterest
Familiar faces resurface Desperate to gain a foothold in the presidential race, Julia LouisDreyfus’ Selina Meyer must humble herself this season at county fairs and cope with old frenemies (Hugh Laurie as Tom James) and an ex-husband (David Pasquesi) who has been caught bilking funds from her charitable foundation. H.S.
best. Some time has passed since we last saw Selina and her loyal band of nincompoops; they are in Iowa, of course, preparing to announce her candidacy in a crowded field of contenders. “Veep” could certainly rest on its laurels and multitude of Emmys. But the show has smartly
zeroed in on what will be its character’s greatest and lasting flaw (among many), something absolutely topical that was there all along: Selina is a woman who hates other women. For all the abuse directed at her bagman, Gary Walsh (Tony Hale), Selina reserves her deepest contempt for the women around her, including Amy Brookheimer (Anna Chlumsky), who has the audacity to briefly consider keeping the first-trimester fetus growing inside her. Is there some epiphany in store? Some final reckoning for this beloved narcissist? Let’s hope not. She taught us so much by being so awful — and yes, those lessons apply in this world, too.
2 ‘The Last O.G.’ 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on TBS
A released convict (Tracy Morgan) pursues his dream of starting his own restaurant — with the help of his ex-girlfriend (Tiffany Haddish) — as the comedy series begins its second season.
3 ‘Killing Eve’ 8 p.m. Sunday on BBC America
The cat-and-mouse thriller about an assassin (Jodie Comer) and the agent on her tail (Sandra Oh) returns for Season 2 following the exit of series creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge. (EXPRESS)

French New Wave icon Varda dies at 90
Agnes Varda, the French New Wave pioneer who for decades beguiled, challenged and charmed moviegoers, died Friday from cancer at her home in Paris. She was 90. A photographer-turned-filmmaker, Varda’s films — including her 1962 breakthrough, “Cleo From 5 to 7” — fluctuated between fiction and documentary. Varda worked almost right up to her death, releasing the scrapbook documentary “Varda by Agnes” earlier this year. (AP)

“What We Do in the Shadows” (10 p.m. Wednesdays on FX) is way too gloomy a title for a wickedly funny mockumentary about vampires in modern-day New York. It’s based on a 2014 New Zealand film and adapted by the movie’s co-writers and directors, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi.
These are your typical vampires. They suck blood, shun daylight, turn into bats. But in the 21st century, they are the ultimate misfits: ancient creatures who are flummoxed by the challenge of adapting to the modern world while remaining true to vampiric traditions. For example, what do you wear to a swanky Manhattan vampire bash? Capes, right? But vampire Laszlo’s (Matt Berry) cape gets stuck in the

The brilliance of the show is the way it takes these mighty supernatural beings and reveals how, really, they are pretty much like the rest of us: defeated by bureaucracy, bewildered by the ever-changing world and full of dreams that will never be realized. The only suggestion I have is to change the title to “The Real Vampires of Staten Island.” Read Marc’s previous columns at washingtonpost.com/muse

trending “If Lil Nas X can’t be on the Billboard Country list ... then I want EVERY Post Malone song on the Billboard hip-hop list taken down immediately.” @YUNGJAYY_, blasting Billboard’s removal of “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X from its Hot Country Songs chart. Billboard told Rolling Stone the trap-infused song “does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music.” Fans accused Billboard of racism, noting that pop artist Post Malone, who is white, makes the hip-hop charts, though he’s insulted the genre.

TODAY: High pressure settles overhead, which means diminishing winds as the day goes on. But the cooler air has taken firm control with highs only in the upper 40s to low 50s, despite mostly sunny skies. Winds eventually come from the south overnight, and that should keep temperatures from falling off quite so much.

Poor judgment not reserved for acting choices
Wait a second … Did Harry just say ‘lover’? Stevie Nicks accidentally referred to One Direction star Harry Styles as a member of *NSYNC after he introduced her at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday. Thanking Styles, Nicks said: “When he decided to make a solo record from *NSYNC — sorry, not *NSYNC.” Earlier, Styles, 25, had praised Nicks, 70, as “everything you have ever wanted in a lady, in a lover and in a friend.” (EXPRESS)
Nicolas Cage filed for an annulment last week four days after getting married to makeup artist Erika Koike in Las Vegas. A court record shows the actor asked for the annulment Wednesday, citing reasons that included being too drunk to understand his actions when he married Koike. Cage says he and Koike drank “to the point of intoxication” before the wedding Saturday, and argues that he wasn’t aware of Koike’s “relationship with another person.” Cage, 55, was previously married to former waitress Alike Kim, singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley and actor Patricia Arquette. He reportedly had been dating Koike since April 2018. (AP)

Liam Neeson apologized again Friday for revealing that he wanted to kill a random black person nearly 40 years ago after a friend had been raped by a black man. The actor originally brought up the story in a February interview before promptly apologizing. In his latest statement, Neeson said he has had time to reflect on his “unacceptable thoughts and actions.” (AP)
The Rolling Stones are postponing their latest tour so Mick Jagger can receive medical treatment, the band announced Saturday. In a statement, the band said that Jagger “is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.” No more details about 75-yearold Jagger’s condition were provided. The Stones’ No Filter Tour was expected to hit FedEx Field on May 31. (AP)
