What course in life leads one to tote a sword outside a roller rink?
Men’s approach to bank robbery is refreshingly straightforward
A Stafford, Va., woman allegedly embezzled more than $93,000 and put it toward her wedding and butt lift, among other things. Vanessa Cline, 32, was a bookkeeper for No Limits Construction, replacing another who was convicted of stealing over $150,000 from the company. Authorities said the owner contacted police after American Express told him the company’s credit card payments were late. Cline was arrested last week. (AP)
San Francisco police are searching for a man who wore a “Make America Great Again” hat and used a sword to slash another man’s hand after an argument by a roller-skating rink. The San Francisco Chronicle reported the attacker fled the scene Friday outside the Church of 8 Wheels. Police said the man in the MAGA hat approached the victim and they argued. The victim tried to grab the hat; the attacker pulled out a sword and cut him. (AP)
Police in Mexico say they caught one of the men who stole a front-end loader, drove it to a bank, knocked down a wall, chained a safe to the machine and tried to drag it off. Prosecutors say the loader had a front bucket and a jackhammer the thieves used to destroy the bank wall. They then chained the safe to the vehicle. Oaxtepec police used surveillance cameras to locate the men attempting the noisy, slow-motion robbery early Friday. (AP)

The National Park Service declared that the cherry blossoms had reached their peak bloom on Monday.
Forecast: A week of peak Favorable weather may keep the blossoms in bloom for a while THE DISTRICT Washington’s famed cherry blossoms have hit their prime. The National Park Service declared that the blossoms reached peak bloom Monday, meaning 70 percent of the cherry trees at the Tidal Basin are fully flowering. Depending on the weather, peak bloom can last from a few days to 10 days. Conditions seem to be aligning for an extended peak bloom period this year, which could last into the coming weekend
and maybe longer. After a toasty Saturday in which temperatures soared to 79 degrees, the strong cold front that swept through Sunday ushered in chilly weather. The cold weather slows the flowering process, extending the period of peak bloom. Although the blossoms can be damaged if temperatures drop below 28, the minimum temperatures through Wednesday should fall only to the low to mid-30s — chilling but not freezing the blossoms. Other factors like strong winds, rain or very warm temperatures that can shorten the bloom period shouldn’t be an issue. The blossoms may dodge

another bullet late today, when a coastal storm likely tracks far enough east that any showers are light, leaving the petals intact. Sunny, calm weather is expected Wednesday and Thursday, making for excellent blossom spectating conditions. After another period of light rain Friday, it is not out of the question that some blossoms will remain in bloom this weekend. Temperatures later this week should climb well into the 60s, perhaps eclipsing 70 over the weekend, but that’s not warm enough to cause the blossoms to wilt. In other words, weather this year could not be much better for a lengthy bloom period.
DC Water released a video last week called “... Chlorinate Me One More Time” — parodying Britney Spears’ 1999 single “... Baby One More Time” — to raise awareness of the annual spring water chlorine switch, which takes place from March 25 to May 6. In the video, the DC Water mascot, Wendy, dances to lyrics like “When you freshen pipes we’ve got peace of mind/ Keep Wendy fine/Chlorinate me one more time.” As of Monday afternoon, the video had more than 8,500 views on YouTube.

Book deal spurs call for Baltimore mayor to quit
PIPE BREAK
Water boil alert in effect in Pr. George’s
BALTIMORE Baltimore’s embattled mayor announced Monday she is taking an indefinite leave of absence, just as a political scandal described by critics as a “self-dealing” book-selling arrangement intensifies dramatically and threatens her political career. In a brief statement, Mayor Catherine Pugh’s office announced she feels unable to fulfill her obligations as mayor due to deteriorating health brought on by a recent bout of pneumonia. The City Council president will take over Pugh’s day-to-day responsibilities. The Democrat’s decision to go on leave came the same day that Maryland’s Republican governor called on the state prosecutor to investigate allegations of selfdealing by Pugh, and the state’s comptroller, a Democrat, urged Pugh to step down immediately. In a letter to the state prosecutor released Monday, Gov. Larry Hogan said recent allegations facing Pugh and her questionable arrangements to sell her illustrated “Healthy Holly” books are “deeply disturbing.” Hogan said he was particularly concerned about a $500,000 sale to a university-based health care system “because it has significant

The calls also came about two weeks after news broke that since 2011, Pugh has received $500,000 selling her illustrated books to the University of Maryland Medical System, a
$4 billion hospital network that’s one of the largest private employers in the state. Pugh became Baltimore’s mayor in 2016. The next year, Baltimore’s spending board, which is controlled by the mayor, awarded a $48 million contract to the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States Inc. Kaiser Permanente previously held that contract. Since the arrangement with Maryland Medical System came to light last month, she’s stepped down from the volunteer board and returned her most recent payment of $100,000 for the books.
Authorities advised boiling water in part of southern Prince George’s County through today as a precaution after a water main break. The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission said the advisory affects about 23,000 of its customers west of Route 210 and south of the border with D.C. Areas affected include Fort Washington and National Harbor, the WSSC said. A spokeswoman for the WSSC said Monday that the break was close to being repaired, but the boil-water advisory would remain in effect through today as officials test the quality of the water. But the divorce deal she negotiated with the EU has been rejected by Parliament three times, leaving Britain facing a no-deal Brexit that could cause turmoil for people and businesses on both sides of the Channel. The April 12 deadline, imposed by the EU, gives May limited time to bridge the hostile divide that separates those in her government who want to sever links with the EU and those who want to keep the ties that have bound Britain to the bloc.

According to Burger King’s chief marketing officer Fernando Machado, customers and Burger King employees could not tell the difference between the Impossible Whopper and a traditional Whopper in testing. Burger King hopes to quickly expand the Impossible option to its roughly 7,200 locations after the St. Louis rollout. LONDON Britain’s Parliament has spoken — and it has said no, again. Lawmakers seeking a way out of the country’s Brexit morass on Monday rejected four alternatives to the government’s unpopular European Union divorce deal that would have softened or even halted Britain’s departure. With just 10 days until the U.K. must come up with a new plan or crash out of the bloc in chaos, the House of Commons threw out four alternatives to Prime Minister Theresa May’s thricerejected Brexit deal — though in some cases by a whisker. The result leaves the government with a range of unpalatable choices. It can gamble on a fourth attempt to push May’s unloved deal through Parliament, let Britain tumble out of the bloc without a deal, or roll the dice by opting for a snap election to shake up Parliament. Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay said the government would continue to seek support for a “credible” plan for leaving the EU. May has summoned her Cabinet for a marathon meeting today to thrash out the options. The prime minister, who is renowned for her dogged determination, could try to bring her Brexit

nation+world New Zealand initiates bill to outlaw weapons used in mosque attacks WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND New Zealand’s government on Monday introduced a bill it plans to rush into law that would ban the types of weapons a gunman used to kill 50 people at two mosques. Police Minister Stuart Nash said that if lawmakers pass the bill as expected, the new law will take effect April 12, less than a month after the March 15 attacks. Plans for law changes were first announced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in the days after the attacks, when the government imposed an
immediate ban on the sales of such weapons. The bill has bipartisan support and could even pass with a unanimous vote of all 120 lawmakers. Nash said one of the weapons used by the gunman was an AR-15 style rifle, and that all the weapons the gunman used in the attacks would be banned. The bill would ban “militarystyle” semi-automatic guns and high-capacity magazines. It would also ban semi-automatic shotguns that could be fitted with detachable magazines and pump-action shotguns that can hold more than five rounds. The bill wouldn’t ban guns often used by farmers and hunters, including semi-automatic .22-caliber or smaller guns that

hold up to 10 rounds, or shotguns that hold up to five rounds. There will be some exemptions, including police officers, military
personnel and some authorized pest controllers. Nash said the gunman had left a national legacy of harm, pain and grief. He said the gunman was able to buy semi-automatic guns and high-capacity magazines legally, and then put them together to create military-style weapons. “The loophole that this terrorist used to kill 50 people was totally unacceptable,” Nash said. “We’re closing that down.” The government intends to compensate owners of banned guns in a buyback scheme that will cost up to 200 million New Zealand dollars ($137 million). An amnesty will give people until Sept. 30 to hand over banned weapons. NICK PERRY (AP)

TOKYO The era of Japan’s next emperor, which begins May 1, will be named “Reiwa,” connoting pursuit of harmony, the government said Monday after selecting the phrase from ancient Japanese poetry instead of Chinese classics as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promotes national pride. The current “Heisei,” or “achieving peace,” era will end with the abdication of Emperor Akihito, 85, on April 30. His son, Naruhito, 59, is to ascend the throne the following day. Era names are still widely used in government and business documents and on calendars. Many people use them to identify generations and historical periods. Abe said the two characters were taken from a poem about plum blossoms in the “Manyoshu,” a 7th century poetry collection. The first character of the era name, “rei,” also means “good” or “beautiful.” The second, “wa” could mean “peace,” ‘’harmony” or “mild.” The break from 1,400 years of drawing era names from Chinese classics was expected from Abe’s government, which is often hawkish toward China. Era name changes also create business opportunities. Anything called “last of Heisei” attracts Akihito fans, while others wait to submit marriage certificates or file other official registrations until the new era starts. MARI YAMAGUCHI (AP)

Security adviser raises flags NATIONAL SECURITY A White House whistleblower told lawmakers that more than two dozen denials for security clearances have been overturned during the Trump administration, calling Congress her “last hope” for addressing what she considers improper conduct that has left the nation’s secrets exposed. Tricia Newbold, a longtime White House security adviser, told the House Oversight and Reform Committee that she and her colleagues issued “dozens” of denials for security clearance applications that were later approved despite concerns about blackmail, foreign influence or other red flags, according to panel documents released Monday. Newbold, who has worked for 18 years under both Republican and Democratic presidents, said she warned her superiors that clearances “were not always adjudicated in the best interest of national security” — and was retaliated against for doing so. Newbold told the committee, according to a panel document summarizing her allegations that she was suspended without pay for 14 days in late January despite “no prior formal disciplinary action” in her nearly two-decade tenure. And when she returned, she was removed from her position as a “second

That tally has reached 25, she said, “including two current senior White House officials.” “I feel that right now this is my last hope to really bring the integrity back into our office,” Newbold said to the panel in an interview over the weekend. The White House declined to comment Monday. The allegation comes during an escalating fight over the issue between House Democrats and the White House. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., the committee chairman, said in a letter to

POLITICS The House Judiciary Committee will prepare subpoenas this week seeking special counsel Robert Mueller’s full Russia report as the Justice Department appears likely to miss today’s deadline set by Democrats for the report’s release. The Judiciary panel plans to vote on subpoenas Wednesday. The chairmen of several House committees asked for the full, unredacted report last week after Attorney General William Barr released a four-page summary laying out the report’s “principal conclusions.” The planned committee vote, announced Monday morning, would not automatically issue subpoenas but authorize House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., above, to send them if he decides to do so. The panel will also vote Wednesday on whether to authorize subpoenas related to a number of President Trump’s former top advisers, including strategist Steve Bannon, communications director Hope Hicks, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, White House Counsel Don McGahn and counsel Ann Donaldson, McGahn’s chief of staff before both left the administration. Harper’s return: Nationals finally have a true rival
2011, when Washington became consistently competitive. Aside from losing the 2014 series 10-9 and tying 9-9 in 2012, Washington has bested Philadelphia in every other season for the past eight years. It has been a while since Philadelphia manhandled Washington. From 2007-10, Washington was one of baseball’s worst teams and had two 100-loss seasons. Over those four seasons, Philly was 51-21 against the Nats. The way that these teams are built now, this will be a tight series for years to come. Harper returns to D.C. tonight with some haughtiness after homering twice in the Phillies’ three-game sweep
of the Braves. Nats fans can counter that Harper’s young outfield replacement, Victor Robles, is off to an equally hot start. The 21-year-old is hitting .455 with four extra-base hits. Maybe fans will briefly applaud Harper before his first at-bat tonight (7:05, MASN2) against Max Scherzer. It would be classy if Harper tipped his cap in response. But considering that some fans at the Nationals’ first three games put tape over Harper’s name on their jerseys, the boos likely will come quickly. After all, he’s a rival now. tonight. Expect things to get heated. The Nationals finally have a real rival. Fourteen years after baseball returned to Washington, the Nats have their version of Redskins-Cowboys. Washington fans don’t like the Mets, Braves or Marlins, but the games against those NL East foes rarely feel personal. Nationals versus Phillies feels really personal now, with Harper snubbing Washington by entering free agency and never looking back. Since signing with the Phillies, he never even said goodbye, much less thank the fans who embraced a teenager and cheered him for seven years — even when some of those seasons didn’t deliver on high expectations. Maybe this is how Phillies fans felt when outfielder Jayson Werth signed with Washington in 2011 after
helping Philadelphia win the 2008 World Series? OK, fair enough. It stings to watch a star leave town for an NL East foe. This isn’t like QB Kirk Cousins joining Minnesota as a free agent a year ago, because the Redskins play the Vikings only every three years or so. The Nats will see Harper 19 times annually, including the next three days. It would have been less emotional if Harper had gone to Los Angeles or San Francisco, which each play just one series a year in Washington. Instead, he’ll play the Nationals in 12 percent of his regularseason games. The Nats now have a true adversary, unlike the Battle of the Beltways. The Orioles are the Nats’ regional and TV revenue rival, but those games seem less serious given that the teams play in different leagues. Games against Philadelphia come with playoff implications. Luckily, the Nationals are 87-63 versus the Phillies since

Four coaches took very varied paths
The Final Four U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis
Saturday on CBS No. 1 Virginia (33-3) vs. No. 5 Auburn (30-9), 6:09 p.m. No. 2 Michigan State (32-6) vs. No. 3 Texas Tech (30-6), 8:49 p.m.
Just before this year’s SEC tournament, assistant coach Ira Bowman was suspended indefinitely amid bribery allegations during his time at Pennsylvania. Beard, 46, has a more innocent backstory. He was at Division II Angelo State just four years ago, and at the Final Four he will be leading a team picked by some to finish seventh in the Big 12.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL Michigan State’s Tom Izzo will be going to his eighth Final Four this weekend. The other three coaches will be new kids at the dance. Chris Beard’s nomadic journey struck a vein of gold at Texas Tech, his 12th coaching stop, with a gritty pack of ball-hawking players grasping the program’s first Final Four. Virginia’s Tony Bennett finally got over the hump in his 10th season with the Cavaliers, putting them in position for a different kind of history after last year’s historic first-round flameout against No. 16 UMBC. And Bruce Pearl found some gems at Auburn after an acrimonious split with Tennessee, guiding the Tigers to their first Final Four despite the cloud of a federal investigation over the program. Pearl was fired by Tennessee in 2011 and sanctioned by the NCAA for a string of violations and lying to investigators. He landed at Auburn in 2014 and trouble followed. Tigers assistant Chuck Person pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery, and two players, Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy, were ruled ineligible last season as a result of the federal investigation.

Mora breaks jaw in United’s victory
D.C. UNITED Defender Joseph Mora was to have surgery Monday for a broken jaw suffered in a 2-1 victory Sunday at Orlando City. The Costa Rican left back, a full-time starter since joining D.C. United before the 2018 season, was hurt in the 11th minute. Mora was attempting a slide tackle on Ruan when the Brazilian defender’s left knee crashed into the right side of Mora’s jaw. He was replaced by Chris McCann, who signed with United from MLS champion Atlanta in preseason. McCann played the final 75 minutes in his D.C. debut. The 31-year-old Irishman is not as quick or attack-oriented as Mora but brings years of experience on the English circuit (Burnley, Wigan and Coventry City before two years in Atlanta). Mora, 26, started 28 of 34
matches last season (with two appearances as a substitute) and all four games this year for United, which, at 3-0-1 and 10 points, is off to its best start since 2006. Its regular-season unbeaten streak has climbed to 14 matches. With the same starting lineup in place for the longest stretch in five years, the defense registered shutouts in the first three games this year before conceding Dom Dwyer’s second-half header. Wayne Rooney recorded a goal and assist in the first half as United geared up for an earlyseason showdown with leagueleading Los Angeles FC (4-0-1, 13 points) at 3 p.m. Saturday at Audi Field. McCann is expected to start in Mora’s place, but the injury further depletes United’s depth at the outside back positions. STEVEN GOFF (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Age-related changes are inevitable, but they can be mitigated with a healthy lifestyle.
STUDIES SHOW...
Age isn’t just a number Healthy habits can result in a biological age much younger than your actual years FITNESS “You look young for your age.” The common compliment highlights the fact that we can inhabit two ages at once: chronological age and biological age. Chronological age dictates how many birthday candles we blow out, while biological age is a measure of our physiological state. “It’s not all that helpful to talk about chronological age,” says Laurie Archbald-Pannone, a physician who specializes in geriatrics at the University of Virginia Health System. “It doesn’t tell us how resilient the body is.” To put it another way: Chronological age has little to do with our actual physical well-being. For example, a 50-year-old smoker can have the lung capacity of an 80-year-old, says Todd Miller, associate professor in exercise and nutrition sciences at George Washington University. “In other words, the 50-year-old smoker has the ‘lung age’ of an 80-year-old,” Miller says.
It’s not just active misuse of the body — such as smoking — that ages us beyond our years. It’s also, perhaps even more commonly, inactivity, says Miller, whose lab measures health and performance-related markers such as bone density, body composition and maximum oxygen uptake. If age holds only so much of our fate, that is more reason to adopt healthy habits. Although agerelated changes are inevitable, they “can be mitigated by sleep, exercise, nutrition and stress reduction,” Miller says. Exactly how much can be mitigated, he says, is unclear. But in terms of specific markers — such as lung capacity — our habits can change our biological age by decades. To be clear, biological age is as much about feel and function as it is about looks. “How we function on a daily basis is what matters the most,” says Archbald-Pannone. Eyleen O’Rourke, a professor of biology and cell biology at the University of Virginia, agrees.
“Many of the things that we consider age-related changes are more related to activity or inactivity as opposed to age.” TODD MILLER, associate professor of exercise and nutrition sciences at George Washington University
“Lifestyle matters a lot for aging,” she says. “DNA damage caused by things like smoking and metabolic syndrome accelerate what we think of as age-related illnesses.” Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions like high blood sugar, high blood pressure and extra fat around the stomach. It increases risk for conditions such as stroke, diabetes, heart disease and cancer, though the mechanism is not

yet understood. While we may not know why metabolic syndrome is associated with higher rates of cancer, “we do know that excess fat reduces the natural rejuvenation of cells,” O’Rourke says. And there is the crux. The ability of cells to rejuvenate, to respond to damage, is what keeps us “young.” Good genes help, but good habits help more. “Your genome isn’t determinative. It doesn’t have strong predictive power by itself,” O’Rourke says. “Everything is context. And there is hope for everyone.” The earlier we start, the better. Bone growth is at its prime in childhood and adolescence; and people who train and eat healthily throughout life will be stronger at 70 or 80 than those who take up healthy habits later. But it’s never too late to start, Miller says. “Muscle responds at any age. You can get positive results even if you start lifting weights at age 80.” GABRIELLA BOSTON

Beet juice lives up to the hype Athletes experiment with a broad array of aids in pursuit of performance edge. A popular one that seems safe and backed by solid data: beet juice, for the nitrates it contains. Inorganic nitrate is found in spinach, arugula and beets. In the past decade, new evidence has suggested that the nitrates in these vegetables enhance athletic performance and may increase cardiovascular health in old age. Researchers have found nitrate supplementation lowers the oxygen demand of exercise and improves athletic performance. The hype for beet juice has grown with every new study, and you can find plenty of beet juices, concentrates, energy bars, capsules and powders. RODRIGO PEREZ ORTEGA (KNOWABLE MAGAZINE VIA TWP)

DR. ANDREA BONIOR | BAGGAGE CHECK
Our special day isn’t special to him Q. My partner and I have been together for six years, and though we are not married, I like to celebrate “our anniversary” as the day we became a couple. Every year, my partner “forgets” unless I have mentioned it so many times beforehand that it ends up more frustrating than it’s worth. Am I asking too much for us to have an anniversary celebration that he initiates? I can see your frustration, but I’m not sure what you’re hoping for. You put quotes around his “forgetting” — so is this a memory problem or a passiveaggressiveness problem? You say you want him to initiate a celebration — which, depending on what you mean, may be an expectation beyond just remembering. Would you be happy with a greeting card? Or do you want him to plan a date
night for the record books? So, first, decide what you’re really asking for, and what is most important to you, including what it represents emotionally — and whether it is realistic given his personality. Then, open up to him — with those classic “I” statements — and be willing to see if there is a path forward for you both that will help you feel loved, but not make him want to beat his head against the wall.
When you mention the hurt that it is causing you, I become particularly concerned, because that isn’t how anyone should have to live — and the hurt can get worse. It makes me even more certain that you could really use a trained adult to help you find a path through this. There are all kinds of help out there for managing anger better, from learning mindfulness techniques, to finding physical outlets, to addressing distorted thinking patterns or problematic relationships that keep creating things to get mad about. You could also benefit from a physical checkup to see if there are medical or biological issues that are increasing your irritability. I urge you to start somewhere, whether with a trusted teacher, guidance counselor, doctor, relative, friend’s parent or your own parents — provided you feel safe talking about your feelings with them. Rapper Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot Sunday outside a boutique he owned in South Los Angeles.
told me that this show was about “letting them see you” and that he knew it was “word of mouth from there.” What a big-hearted answer to such a mundane question. Nipsey Hussle didn’t become a superstar in the days that followed. Instead, his ascent through the rap game was slow but astonishingly steady until his 2018 debut album, “Victory Lap,” was nominated for a Grammy. That trajectory was interrupted Sunday afternoon when

I remember asking Nipsey Hussle if he was nervous. This was back in 2009 — a soft gray October afternoon on the Howard University quad. The 24-year-old Los Angeles native was about to hit the stage at Yardfest, an annual homecoming concert where rap’s soon-to-be-legends (Biggie, Jay, Kanye) often came to have their rising stars consecrated. Nip didn’t look nervous. He

man whose life was taken in public on a quiet Sunday afternoon in America. His death is unacceptable. Hussle had always mourned the brokenness of this murderous country — and he was trying to fix things. “FDT,” his 2016 duet with YG, still stands as the most straightforward excoriation of Donald Trump in pop music — and when Hussle cued up the beat at the Broccoli City Festival in Washington last April, it felt loud enough to reach the White House. But Hussle wasn’t sending a message to Trump. He was sending a message of solidarity to the people in the crowd — the people whom he’d always been rapping to and for. Instead of a huddle of Howard undergrads going crazy, 30,000 voices roared.

Jordan Peele’s middling ‘Twilight Zone’ revival riffs on modern anxiety TV REVIEW “The Twilight Zone” is back, but as a person trying to navigate daily life in 2019, you already knew that. You’re traveling through another dimension: Up is down, facts are opinions, the Russians pull the levers. Neenee-dee-dee; nee-nee-dee-dee …
Hardly an escape from all that, CBS All Access’ so-so revival of Rod Serling’s classic TV series is more like taking a metaphorical highlighter pen to the times we live in. Faithful to the original (which aired from 1959 to 1964) while playing with contemporary viewpoints, this “Twilight Zone” is co-produced and hosted by “Get Out” filmmaker Jordan Peele. In its first four episodes (two of which premiered Monday), the series finds new angles to ponder

on varied topics. Without spoiling the themes, the show is perhaps too fixated on personal damnation rather than clutch-the-couchpillow surprises.
Kanye West’s Sunday Service joins Coachella’s second weekend
The second episode, “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet” (an update of the famed 1963 episode), impressively relocates the “gremlin” tormentor of the story from
the wing of the plane to the cabin, where Adam Scott plays a mentally fragile passenger. But “Replay” fits best with Peele’s purview, as Sanaa Lathan stars as Nina, an attorney driving her son to a historically black college. After discovering that her old camcorder has the power to reverse time, Nina uses it when an encounter with a state trooper escalates into a life-threatening situation. With all there is to say about that, the show chooses a predictable way to wrap up the episode. It’s a reminder that of all the things “The Twilight Zone” used to be and still is, it was hardly ever about the art of subtlety. HANK STUEVER (THE WASHINGTON POST)

ARIES (March 21-April 19) Someone you love brings something quite surprising out in you today. He or she may have more than either of you bargained for right now. TAURUS (April 20-May 20) An unexpected turn of events can be seen as positive or negative, depending on which way you want to go as a result. GEMINI (May 21-June 20) You can do something through official channels, or do it your own way. Where do fewer dangers lie? CANCER (June 21-July 22) You may do something that results in a setback, but that is likely to buy you time that you will find very useful. MONDAY’S SOLUTION
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) You must
allow those who can to help you today. You may be feeling overwhelmed, but even a little moral support can work wonders.
MONDAY’S SOLUTION
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) Why are you waiting to do something you know how to do and that you can get done in no time? There’s no time like the present. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) You may be wondering why someone keeps proposing the same idea over and over. Perhaps you should consider it before you say no again.
FOUR RACK TOTAL Make a 2-7-letter word from the letters in each row. Add points of each word using scoring directions at right. Seven-letter words get a 50-point bonus. Blank tiles used as any letter have no point value. Scrabble is a trademark of Hasbro in the U.S. and Canada.

TODAY: Partly to mostly sunny skies in the morning but turning cloudier in the afternoon. As a coastal storm begins developing to our southeast, there’s a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain to start the afternoon, the highest chances south and southeast of the Beltway. Patchy rain could linger tonight.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) You are trying to wrap your head around a very difficult concept. Perhaps a friend holds the key. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) A shock to the system needn’t have lasting effects. When all is said and done, take time to relax and reflect.

Wendy Williams and her husband, Kevin Hunter, are exploring a separation, Page Six reported Monday. Williams reportedly was left devastated after learning that Sharina Hudson, Hunter’s alleged mistress, recently gave birth. Williams, who confirmed last month that she is living in a sober facility in Queens, N.Y., while battling addiction, has been married to Hunter since 1997. Hunter also serves as the talk show host’s manager. “Wendy still loves Kevin, but her health is at stake,” a source told Page Six. “They are so tangled up together in business, so they are carefully looking at what a separation could entail.” (EXPRESS)
