A South Florida man thought he snagged a deal when he paid $9,100 in an online auction for what he thought was a villa. What he got was a 1-foot-by-100-foot strip of land. The land, valued at $50, starts on a curb and goes under a wall separating two villas in the Spring Lake community and then out to the back of the lot. An official told the South Florida Sun Sentinel there’s not a lot Kerville Holness can do about his purchase. (AP)

The OSF HealthCare center was celebrating the retirement of its MRI machine, the Pekin Daily Times reported. (AP)

The task felt daunting. Her peers may have had ideas “in their heads about what jihad is, about what Islam is,” the 18-yearold said. But she felt compelled to explain that the Arabic word means “struggle,” despite negative connotations tethered to it. “If I didn’t explain what that meant, I wouldn’t want someone else to then have a

Members of the National Arab American Women’s Association are demanding a seat at the table when Fairfax County Public Schools, the largest school system in Virginia, scouts new textbooks in the coming years, said Ilham Nasser, a volunteer with the organization. Poll: Optimism for Amazon REGION Washington-area residents have largely positive expectations about Amazon’s second headquarters coming to Arlington, with large majorities saying it will have a good impact and result in significant economic growth, according to a Washington Post-Schar School poll. But a clear majority also says Amazon’s arrival will make it more expensive to live in the region, with some residents in follow-up interviews predicting a substantial jump in housing costs. “The workforce population will suffer, people making modest incomes,” said Evelyn Branic, a D.C. resident who works for a real estate company. “I heard from clients that people thought prices would go up and they wouldn’t be able to afford to buy or rent.” About 7 in 10 Washington-area residents say Amazon’s headquarters in Northern Virginia will mainly have a good impact on the region, while about 2 in 10 say it will mainly have a bad impact, according to the survey. Optimism about Amazon is strong among all demographic groups surveyed, regardless of jurisdiction, income, political party, gender or race. The poll finds that expectations for Amazon are also high among people who live closest to the company’s planned headquarters in the Crystal City

community. Of residents of Arlington and neighboring Alexandria and Falls Church, 68% say the Amazon headquarters will mainly be good for the region, compared with 27% who say the impact will mainly be bad. The positive expectations about Amazon appeared to spring mostly from the promised influx of jobs at the facility, widely known as HQ2. The Seattle-based online retail giant has pledged to create 25,000 jobs over the next 10 to 12 years, paying average annual salaries of at least $150,000. (Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post and Express.) A 74% majority of D.C.-area residents think HQ2 will result in significant economic growth. “It gives employment to people who need employment in this area, and later on will draw people from outside areas,” said Richard Bradshaw, who lives in Rosslyn. But several residents who said Amazon would have a bad impact overall said the new jobs weren’t worth the price to be paid in higher rents and more traffic. “They’re going to bring a lot of jobs in the area, which is good,” said Makki Humed, who works for a car dealer and lives in Arlington’s Four Mile Run area. “On the other side, prices went up — rent, properties — just with the announcement that Amazon was coming to Arlington. I can’t imagine, when they are actually here, what the prices are going to be like.” ROBERT McCARTNEY AND EMILY GUSKIN (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Maryland Coast Guard officials want the public’s help in identifying someone they say has been making a “steady stream” of fake distress calls for months. The Coast Guard released audio of the calls Thursday, hoping someone will recognize the voice. Health official warns of low vaccine rates THE DISTRICT The letter from the District’s top health official was clear: The city must improve vaccination rates if it wants to bolster its odds of fending off a measles outbreak. LaQuandra S. Nesbitt, director of the D.C. Department of Health, wrote the letter to the city’s private and public school principals last month, urging them to encourage parents of unvaccinated students to take their children to the doctor for a shot of protection. The vaccination rate, she warned, should be at least 95% to decrease chances of an outbreak, and the city is below that threshold. The 113 traditional public school campuses have a vaccination rate of 93%, while the rate at the 20 parochial schools is lower, at 87%. The vaccination rate is 93% at the 124 charter schools and just under 92% at the 52 private schools. “It’s concerning,” Nesbitt said in an interview. A national measles outbreak has forced health agencies throughout the country to examine vaccination rates in schools,

which require students to be vaccinated against a variety of diseases before they can enroll. In most states, children can opt out of vaccinations if they qualify for medical or religious exemptions. The District has the nation’s lowest vaccination rates for diseases when compared with the 50 states: 81.3% for kindergartners, falling behind its neighboring jurisdictions in Maryland and Virginia, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Maryland has one of the highest rates, at 98.6%, and Virginia lands at 95.5%. Nesbitt said she did not think access to health care was a
significant factor in children going unvaccinated. She said nearly all children in the District have health insurance and can obtain vaccines at no cost. Many schools also have health care resources on campus. The District has not recorded a measles case this year, but Nesbitt noted that someone could bring the virus to the city and spark an outbreak if not enough people are vaccinated. “The thing that matters a lot is that the people who cannot be vaccinated are the people who if they get measles would suffer the most,” she said. African migrants flock to U.S.-Mexico border
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
101-year-old veteran gets 5,000 cards
IMMIGRATION Undaunted by a dangerous journey over thousands of miles, people fleeing economic hardship and human rights abuses in African countries are coming to the U.S.-Mexico border in unprecedented numbers, surprising Border Patrol agents more accustomed to Spanish-speaking migrants. Officials in Texas and even Maine are scrambling to absorb the sharp increase in African migrants. They are coming to America after flying across the Atlantic Ocean to South America and then embarking on an often harrowing overland journey. In one recent week, agents in the Border Patrol’s Del Rio sector stopped more than 500 African migrants found walking in separate groups along the arid land. That’s more than double the 211 African migrants who were detained by the Border Patrol along the entire 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border in the 2018 fiscal year. The immigrants in Texas were mostly from the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. Cameroonians have also been traveling up through Mexico and into the U.S. in larger numbers and seeking asylum at ports of entry. Cameroonians generally fly

to Ecuador because no visa is required, and it takes them about four months to reach Tijuana. They walk for days in Panama through dense jungle. They come from Cameroon’s English-speaking south with horrifying stories of rape, murder and torture by soldiers of the country’s Frenchspeaking majority. A few days after the big groups of African immigrants were apprehended in Texas, federal officials dropped off dozens of them in San Antonio. Officials in the Texas city sent out a plea for French speakers for translating “and most importantly, making our guests feel welcome.”
Many were bused to Portland, Maine. Word has spread among migrants that the city of 67,000 is a welcoming place. A total of 170 asylum seekers arrived in recent days; hundreds more are expected. With one shelter already full, a basketball venue called the Portland Exposition Building was converted into an emergency shelter. Portland officials tweeted Thursday that rumors some of the migrants carry the Ebola virus “are patently false,” and said that as asylum seekers, they are in the United States legally. When John Frey’s family asked for 101 birthday cards to celebrate the World War II veteran’s 101st birthday in Orem, Utah, they were expecting to get 500 at most. At a celebration on June 8, a day after his birthday, Frey ended up with more than 5,000 cards. They came from all 50 states and at least 12 countries after an article about Frey publicized the family’s request for cards. Jeanne Waters, the receptionist at the home for veterans where Frey lives, said she got an extra tub from the Postal Service just to sort his cards every day. Free college up for debate POLITICS After receding from the national stage, the free college movement is resurfacing as a central rallying point for Democrats. At least 18 of the party’s 23 presidential contenders have come out in support of some version of free college, a catchall term for a range of affordability plans. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Mass., promises free tuition at public colleges and universities. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minn., says it should be limited to two years of community college. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, N.Y., wants to provide free tuition in exchange for public service. The candidates are responding to what some say is a crisis in college affordability, an issue likely to draw attention in the first primary debates later this month. Year after year, colleges say they have to raise tuition to offset state funding cuts. Students have shouldered the cost
by taking out loans, pushing the country’s student debt to nearly $1.6 trillion this year. Even for many in the middle class, experts say, college is increasingly moving out of reach. Nearly 20 states now promise some version of free college, from Tennessee’s free community college program to New York’s Excelsior Scholarship, which offers up to four years of free tuition at state schools for residents with family incomes below $125,000 a year.
2020 ELECTION

Drawing splits 20 candidates over two nights The lineup was set on Friday for back-to-back Democratic presidential debates in Miami later this month. Despite the debate dates of the 20 top-polling candidates being picked randomly, four of the top five — Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg — got clumped together. NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo will air the debates June 26 and 27. (TWP)

Democratic candidates reveal plans to combat the student debt crisis
But research on the effectiveness of state programs has been mixed. Critics say the offers are often undermined by limited funding and come with narrow eligibility rules that exclude many students. Plans from Warren, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vt., and former Obama housing chief Julián Castro aim to eliminate tuition at all public institutions. The candidates say that would open college to a wider group of Americans and greatly reduce the need for loans.
One of the major sticking points over free college is the price. Warren’s total education plan is estimated to cost $1.25 trillion over a decade. Sanders’ plan would cost $47 billion a year. Both call on the federal government to split the cost with states while also raising taxes on Wall Street or the wealthiest Americans. Other Democrats, including Klobuchar and former Vice President Joe Biden, have backed more moderate plans to provide two years of free tuition at community colleges, similar to an idea pushed by President Barack Obama in 2015. Free college plans are likely to be popular among the growing share of voters paying off student loans, said Douglas Harris, an economics professor at Tulane University who has studied the effectiveness of free college. “Something like 1 in 5 voters has college debt, which is a huge percentage,” he said. “And when you have a huge number of people affected by something, then that certainly gets people’s attention.” COLLIN BINKLEY (AP)

Trump floats idea of serving past term limits POLITICS President Trump on Sunday floated the possibility of staying in office longer than two terms, suggesting in a morning tweet that his supporters might “demand that I stay longer.” The president has previously joked about serving more than two terms, including at an event in April, when he told a crowd that he might remain in the Oval Office “at least for 10 or 14 years.” The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution limits the presidency to two terms. On Sunday, Trump also voiced dissatisfaction with recent news coverage of his administration, calling both The Washington Post and The New York Times “the Enemy of the People.” He added: “The good news is that at the end of 6 years, after … I leave the beautiful White House (do you think the people would demand that I stay longer? KEEP AMERICA GREAT), both of these horrible papers will quickly go out of business & be forever gone!” Trump last month floated the notion of being given two bonus years as president to make up for the time former special counsel Robert Mueller spent on his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 campaign. And last year, Trump joked about doing away with term limits in a speech to Republican donors at his Mar-aLago estate in which he praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for doing so in China. measure for now did not placate the crowds, who showed up in a march that stretched more than 3 miles in either direction from its planned starting point. Police estimated turnout at 338,000, but they counted only the participants along the official march route. Many expressed deep dissatisfaction with the way Lam has handled the bill. “She is so evil,” said Sabrina, a 27-year-old woman in the crowd who gave only her first name for fear of retaliation. She teared up as she spoke about Lam. “She hasn’t heard anything from us.” Sunday’s protesters, who waited for hours under a blazing sun to begin their march, chanted for Lam to step down. Banners called for Hong Kong’s independence. Major roads across the city were packed with protesters — a thronging mass shuffling slowly toward government buildings that protesters had occupied on Wednesday, prompting violent clashes with police that day. Protesters rejected Lam’s apology. They want the executive to withdraw the bill and step down, and police to be held accountable for clashes on Wednesday. Until then, they said, they will continue to plan more mass actions. One protester died Saturday after falling from a building on which he had draped a banner. It is unclear how exactly he fell, but his death further galvanized demonstrators. Some waited hours to leave flowers at the site of his death. An artist in the crowd painted a portrait of the man, who was dressed in a yellow raincoat when he fell. One sign read: “You will be the last. No more.” SHIBANI MAHTANI
Police estimated that 338,000 demonstrators packed the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday as they continued to protest a proposed extradition bill.

HONG KONG Protesters filled Hong Kong’s streets again on Sunday, cramming subway stations and turning roads into a sea of black, in another massive demonstration against their government’s handling of a proposal to allow extraditions to mainland China — even after the city’s leader said she would suspend the bill. Organizers estimated the turnout Sunday at nearly 2 million participants, in a territory of some 7.4 million — making plain the growing rupture between Hong Kong’s government, heavily influenced by Beijing authorities, and its people. The march capped a dramatic week of protests in varying numbers across the global financial hub. Demonstrators forced police to open six-lane roads and took over streets that were not authorized for their rally. The massive outpouring delivered yet more embarrassment for Carrie Lam, Hong Kong’s chief executive, who finds herself increasingly isolated in the city. On Saturday, Lam said she would suspend debate on the bill in an effort to “restore calm and peace” to Hong Kong. After protests swelled on Sunday, she apologized to the people of Hong Kong for “deficiencies in the government’s work” and promised to “adopt a most sincere and humble attitude to accept criticisms and make improvements.” But she has stopped short of withdrawing the bill altogether. She has insisted the proposal — which would allow fugitives to be extradited to countries without a formal treaty with Hong Kong, including mainland China — is “laudable.” Lam’s decision to back off the

GOLAN HEIGHTS The Trump name graces apartment towers, hotels and golf courses. Now it is the namesake of a tiny Israeli settlement in the Israelcontrolled Golan Heights. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Cabinet convened Sunday to inaugurate a new settlement named after President Trump in a gesture of appreciation for the U.S. leader’s recent recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the territory. The settlement, known as Bruchim, is over 30 years old and has a population of 10 people. Israel is hoping the rebranded “Ramat Trump,” Hebrew for “Trump Heights,” will encourage new residents to expand it. U.S. Ambassador David Friedman noted that Trump celebrated his birthday on Friday. “I can’t think of a more appropriate and a more beautiful birthday present,” Friedman said. Netanyahu called Trump a “great friend” of Israel and described the Golan as an important strategic asset. Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Mideast war and annexed it in 1981. Most of the international community considers the move illegal under international law. Zvi Hauser, an Israeli opposition lawmaker, called the ceremony a cheap PR stunt. “There’s no funding, no planning, no location and there’s no real binding decision,” he said. ILAN BEN ZION (AP)

UNITED STATES 3, CHILE 0 Even with seven new starters, the United States scored three times in the first half against Chile for a 3-0 win Sunday in Paris. Carli Lloyd added to her World Cup legend by striking twice as the top-ranked Americans displayed the ferocity and expertise that have made them favorites for a fourth crown. If not for Christiane Endler’s second-half masterwork in Chile’s net, the result would have climbed to embarrassing levels in front of 45,594 fans. In fact, Endler was named player of the match. With a superior goal differential — the first tiebreaker — the Americans need only a draw against Sweden on Thursday to claim the top spot in Group F. They are assured a spot in the knockout round. It’s been said the U.S. roster is deep enough to field two formidable teams. Here was an opportunity to prove it. Besides overhauling the lineup, coach Jill Ellis used her three substitutions to pull the only three field players who started
both games, leaving a fresh group for the Sweden clash. Only goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has played all 180 minutes of the tournament. The four holdovers were Naeher, center back Abby Dahlkemper, midfielder Lindsey Horan and Julie Ertz, who returned to defensive midfield after providing cover in central defense against Thailand. Becky Sauerbrunn (Virginia) returned from a minor injury. Ali Krieger, a Dumfries, Va., native in her third World Cup, replaced Kelley O’Hara. Tierna Davidson bumped Crystal Dunn. At 20,

she’s the youngest U.S. World Cup starter since Tiffany Roberts, who was 18 in 1995. Morgan Brian, an ex-Virginia star in her second World Cup,
joined Ertz and Horan in midfield. The front line was all new: Lloyd, Mallory Pugh and Christen Press were in. Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Tobin Heath were out. It did not matter. Ellis dismissed any thought that she tapped the brakes after a 13-0 rout of Thailand. “You can’t overthink this,” she said. “… Manipulating a score, that can be dangerous.” The ball rarely crossed the center line as the Americans put their stamp on things from the opening minute and did not relent. After three early threats, the U.S. went ahead in the 11th minute on Lloyd’s first goal — a hellacious half-volley from 17 yards. Before extending the lead, the Americans survived a scare midway through the half. Naeher failed her first test of the tournament, coming off her line too late and not making contact as Carla Guerrero directed it into the open net. But she was a step offside. Emily Sonnett (Virginia) made her Cup debut in the late stage, replacing Dahlkemper.

Raptors exec latest name to surface Following weeks of speculation, reports surfaced after Toronto’s NBA title win Thursday night that the Wizards were preparing an epic offer to Raptors president Masai Ujiri for a similar job in Washington. Some reports said the offer could be as big as six years for $60 million and a percentage of ownership and control over other Monumental Sports & Entertainment properties. But these offers might not materialize. A person close to the organization said Friday the Wizards had no imminent plans to request permission to speak to Ujiri, nor had Monumental Sports & Entertainment arranged an offer. Lawrence Tanenbaum, head of the group that oversees the Raptors, said there was “no chance” Ujiri would leave. (TWP)

Davis-LeBron pairing makes L.A. a legitimate title contender again ANALYSIS The Lakers’ 2018-19 season was deeply sad and entirely forgettable. Magic Johnson abruptly resigned in April as president of basketball operations and accused general manager Rob Pelinka of backstabbing him. Coach Luke Walton was fired shortly before
sexual assault allegations surfaced. LeBron James suffered the first major injury of his career. His young supporting cast battled health problems and trade rumors, then missed the playoffs. After six straight draft lottery trips and amid mounting dysfunction, Pelinka’s Lakers on Saturday reached a trade agreement with the Pelicans for Anthony Davis that immediately revives their title hopes. In the league-altering deal, L.A.

2023 and 2025, according to ESPN. Playing with James and Davis, 26, should appeal to veteran free agents, and the Lakers still have $27 million in salary cap space to pursue a third star. Davis has twice averaged more than 28 points per game during his
seven-year career, and he could conceivably lead the NBA in scoring with help from James’ elite playmaking. And by keeping Kyle Kuzma out of the trade, James will have two capable outside shooters alongside him in the frontcourt. The Lakers suddenly present all sorts of matchup problems. Defensively, Davis at 6-foot-10 is exactly the paint-controlling, rim-protecting presence that James needed last season. At 34, James is no longer a lockdown defender on a night-to-night basis. Davis’ high activity level, knack for discouraging drives and ability to alter shots will allow James to focus the bulk of his energy on the offensive end.

Capitals re-sign Hagelin to four-year, $11M contract
Encarnación joins Yankees tonight against Tampa Bay
Kurt Suzuki ripped a two-out, two-run single to jump-start the Nationals on Sunday in a 15-5 win over the Diamondbacks at Nationals Park. Against a mash-up of Arizona’s bullpen, the Nats had two homers from Matt Adams and one apiece from Anthony Rendon and Suzuki, who left after a bouncing pitch hit him in the throat in the seventh. Aníbal Sánchez provided six solid innings, giving up just two runs and throwing 98 pitches, his most since May 5. Tony Sipp allowed two runs, one earned, in the ninth. The Nats open a critical series today against the Phillies, followed by the Braves on Friday. (THE WASHINGTON POST)
The Capitals made their second significant move of the offseason Sunday, re-signing forward Carl Hagelin to a four-year, $11 million deal. On Friday, the Capitals traded defenseman Matt Niskanen to the Flyers for blue-liner Radko Gudas, and the roughly $3.4 million in salary cap savings from that swap will cover Hagelin’s $2.75 million cap hit with some left over. Washington acquired Hagelin, who turns 31 in August, from the Kings on Feb. 21. After he had two goals and six assists in the first 38 games of the season with Pittsburgh and Los Angeles, he tallied three goals and eight assists in 20 regular-season games with Washington. (TWP)
Yankees manager Aaron Boone will make AL home run leader Edwin Encarnación his primary designated hitter, he said before Sunday’s game with the White Sox. The Yankees expect him to be available tonight against the Rays. They acquired 36-year-old Encarnación from the Mariners on Saturday night. Seattle is sending the Yankees $8,397,849, leaving New York to pay $8 million of the remaining $16,397,849 Encarnación is guaranteed. New York is sending 19-year-old minor league pitcher Juan Then to Seattle. Encarnación is hitting .241 and is among the league leaders with 49 RBIs and 48 runs. (AP)

HANK STUEVER | THE WASHINGTON POST
Who even has the energy left to moan about the ruinous effects of reality television? That war is lost. You watch your reality TV and I’ll watch mine, and let’s stop pretending one is any better than the other. Which brings me to Bravo’s irresistibly entertaining “Below Deck” — and its spinoff, “Below Deck Mediterranean,” the fourth season of which airs Mondays at 9 p.m. Both shows closely follow a crew of pretty (and sometimes pretty difficult) people hired to work as stewards, deck hands and chefs on a 150-foot chartered mega-yacht. It’s a form of blissfully bizarre escape, encoded with lessons about work, about life. “Gilligan’s Island” without the nuisance of a shipwreck. “The Love Boat” with temper tantrums. Since “Below Deck” premiered in the summer of 2013, ratings have steadily climbed, partly because the show provides a number of psychological pleasures. It’s a glimpse into a workplace that is presumably
far more grueling than our own, where shifts can last 18 hours and employees are “busting their humps,” as Noah Samton, Bravo’s senior vice president of current production, puts it. Both shows center on a season’s worth of three-day excursions, nine or so separate trips, purchased by charter guests who receive a significant discount (still costing $35,000 to $75,000, according to yachting industry estimates) in exchange for turning their vacation into a TV production. “ ‘Below Deck’ is the perfect format,” Samton says. “These hard-working, single, attractive people, mixed with rich guests, living together, working together — it’s a recipe for fascinating human behavior.” “Below Deck” can seem almost recklessly combative when two employees go at it. Underlings mouthing off to superiors; tearful meltdowns in the galley, right in the middle of dinner service. It also deliciously deals with the consequences of underperforming or slacking off or talking back, as conflicts and mistakes work their way up to the captain:

The no-nonsense Lee Rosbach, far left, mans the ship and leads the crew on the original “Below Deck,” which premiered on Bravo in 2013.

‘Das Boot’
Captain Sandy Yawn, right, is in charge on “Below Deck Mediterranean.”
Lee Rosbach on the original series, whose tight-jawed disapproval is widely feared by his crew; the more empathetic but no less demanding Sandy Yawn on “Mediterranean.” People get fired all the time on the show, not for what they do but what they fail to do. Several seasons ago, I would watch “Below Deck” with a fuddy-duddy’s disapproval, as the crew spent their nights off in port, binge-drinking and getting handsy with anything
that moves. Typically an argument breaks out — or even a physical fray. By morning, they somehow rise, proof that youth is beauty. They sheepishly apologize and get to swabbing and shining in time to greet their next group of swells. In all that carefree sunshine, they forget their miseries and I forget mine. Such is the fleeting joy of a changed reality.

Tracee Ellis Ross is making an adult ‘Daria’
Tracee Ellis Ross will voice the title character Jodie in a spinoff of the iconic MTV series “Daria,” the network said Thursday, making the show the first adult animated series in almost 20 years to star a black woman. “Jodie” focuses on Jodie Landon — Daria’s friend from the original series voiced by Jessica Cydnee Jackson, in her first post-college job in tech — and will take on “themes of empowerment across gender and racial lines.” (AP VIA TRIBUNE NEWS SERVICE) “Men in Black: International” tops box office with $28.5 million; “Shaft” opened to just $8.3 million

Is ABC pressing its luck by reviving “Press Your Luck”? Sure, its reboots of “Match Game” and “The $100,000 Pyramid” have done well. But “Press Your Luck” (8 p.m. Wednesdays) had a lower profile than those classic game shows. It ran just from 1983 to 1986. And its methodology, then and now, is a
mind-boggling train wreck. First, contestants answer inane questions (What country is an anagram of “Meg Ryan”?) to rack up “spins.” But there is no actual wheel to spin. Rather, the spin takes place on a big board with 18 squares along its perimeter. Most squares offer a prize (mainly cash but also exotic trips and new cars). But some squares depict an ugly red cartoon character dubbed a Whammy, who wipes out all the

the exact right time to shout so you’ll land on a big prize, not a Whammy. Confused? Me too! “Press” is the opposite of the calm and collected “Jeopardy!” With its blinking lights and
shouting humans, it is exhausting. And it lasts an hour! Host Elizabeth Banks of “Hunger Games” fame does her best to bring sass and drama. If only she’d put on her “Hunger Games” outfit. In a way, amped-up game shows are the “Hunger Games” of our day. “Press” contestants try to stab each other in the back by using a rule to force an opponent to spin. The Whammy laughs demonically. At least players don’t have to confront crazy monkeys and mutant wolves. But wouldn’t that make a great twist? Read Marc’s previous columns at washingtonpost.com/muse

The concept has received backlash since Matarazzo tweeted about it Friday. Fans and unemployed people are asking him to reconsider his involvement.

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, have released a photograph of their 6-week-old son, Archie, for Father’s Day. The sepia-toned photo, posted Sunday on the royal couple’s Instagram feed, shows the baby cradled in Harry’s arms and clutching his father’s finger. The post is captioned: “Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex.” The couple posted a picture of the baby’s feet when Mother’s Day was celebrated in the United States last month to mark Meghan’s first as a mom.
