What started as a humble idea to involve law enforcement in the community and support Special Olympics now leads the world in opportunity and hope for those with intellectual disabilities. We have come a long way and while we still have much to accomplish, we are confident that this year will be your best conference experience ever. We believe that you will be motivated, educated and inspired by the heart and determination of Special Olympics athletes as well as the dedication and passion of your fellow Law Enforcement Torch Run® volunteers.

The rate for single and double bedded rooms is $179.00 per night plus tax. For each guest beyond (2) guests in a room the charge will be $30.00 per each additional guest per night. Please note: that all reservations are on a first-come, first serve basis, and by processing an attendee’s conference registration does not guarantee your attendee’s hotel reservation. Liaisons are strongly encouraged to read both the registration and hotel reservation instructions prior to booking.


How to Register

Conference registration and hotel reservations will be processed entirely online. Registration instructions will be distributed to all Special Olympics Programs in April 2014.

The online conference registration system will open at 12AM EST on Monday, June 2, 2014 and will allow liaisons to register attendees and book hotel room within the same system. All conference registration and hotel reservations must be made through your Program’s Torch Run liaison using the online registration system. Individual attendees may not register him/herself.

Transportation Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) MSY is the only airport where courtesy conference transportation is provided by the host program. The airport is located approximately 15 miles east of the conference hotel and will service all national and international travelers. Conference attendees arriving at MSY will find loading areas for complimentary transportation to the conference hotel outside of the baggage claim. Volunteers will be on hand to guide you to the loading area for the buses to the hotels.

Ground Transportation Courtesy conference transportation will be offered to and from the airport before and after the conference.

Departure Transportation Departure transportation from the conference hotel to MSY will run on Saturday, November 13 from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm and will depart from the conference hotel for the airport approximately every 30 minutes. These are the ONLY times airport transportation will be offered. We strongly urge all attendees to book their flights to depart so they may take advantage of the courtesy transportation being offered by the host program. NOTE: The Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel does NOT provide shuttle service to/ from the New Orleans International Airport. The approximate cost for a taxi between the airport and hotel is $33.00 (one-way). Attendees arriving at other airports/ times will need to make their own ground transportation arrangements.

Arrival transportation Arrival transportation will be offered from MSY to the conference hotel on Tuesday, September 9 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Concurrent Sessions Presented by: Motorola Solutions Foundation Each year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run® celebrates the achievements of its many local programs. To further support the growth and development of each program, the conference provides a comprehensive series of concurrent sessions. Each of the 20 training sessions delivers informative topics and case studies that are designed to appeal to both Torch Run newcomers and veterans alike. Information gained from these sessions will serve as tools in driving the goals of each local program…this will give all a reason to celebrate! Please refer to the conference schedule upon your arrival to New Orleans for specific session details.


Conference Registration Fees The registration website will open Monday, June 2 at 12AM EST and will close on Thursday, July 31 at 5 PM EDT. Liaisons will be provided with a registration link prior to the “go live” date.

Completed nomination packets including photos for the Executive Council Athlete Award, John Carion “Unsung Hero” Award and, Hall of Fame Award are due by 5:00PM, EDT and may be submitted via the LETR Conference website at www.letr.org.
