Editorial Vision

At Porvoo 2021, our vision for the editorial team puts all creative freedom in the hands of the individual, providing ownership regarding their own session output whilst also making sure each individual does the amount of work that best suits them. The sky is the limit! A way that this will be translated at the session will be through the usage of smaller media teams within the larger, that will entirely see over one major element of media output at the session. These teams will be separated into a Photography team, Videography team and Social Media team. Each team will be looked over by either myself as editor or one of the two editorial assistants. Whilst within these teams, each member of the media team will find themselves solely responsible for the type of output that corresponds to them. Meaning that the shared responsibilities often seen at sessions (such as the taking and editing of photos) will no longer be required by everyone on the team. Such an approach is seen with the intention of not overwhelming any individual, with feeling as if they have to do everything, but rather to give ease of mind alongside ownership into one concrete element of the session output. In the spirit of creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere at the session. As a media team member at Porvoo regional session, the creation of media projects will not be a requirement by each individual. Embracing the media team structure, a singular team will be responsible for one piece of larger session output, however each team will additionally be encouraged to produce smaller scale content alongside this as a group effort, however this decision is up to the team. However, as a way of not limiting creative freedom, no idea will be shot down if its owner truly believes in its creation. I see our jobs as the editorial leadership to not provide you with the answer, but rather assist you in getting there. Each member of a media team has their own area of expertise, meaning that the leadership are learning from the media teams members just as much as they’re learning from us. With this in mind, any piece of media or activtity wished to be achieved at Porvoo will be supported through constructive critism in order to achieve the best it can be. We all have the potential of creating masterpieces it’s just about believing in what you, as an individual can create and being able to recognise when you need might need guidance. We aim to create an atmosphere where each member of the team feels comfortable in stating their own limits and asking for help when needed. No one will be seen as above anyone else, as we are all in one respective team and will use the opportunity to learn and grow off of one another. Nothing will be forced or expected by anyone and you can find the team as a chance to try something new. If this vision is something you see yourself in, then we strongly encourage you to apply regardless of your experience! If you have any further questions regarding the vision or any other element of the session, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the editorial leadership.
