SmartMEDIFILTERâ&#x201E;˘ Our eyes receive not only visible light but also infrared and ultraviolet radiation. Though these do not trigger visual sensations, they are dangerous to the eye itself. Ultraviolet light in particular, being short-wave radiation, possesses great energy that can cause states of photooxidative stress, which may lead to cortical cataracts, conjunctivitis and aggravation of pathologies of the retina. The blue light of ultra-violet radiation also reduces the perception of contrast, with a consequent reduction of visual acuity, greater sensitivity to bright light and glare, as well as longer periods of adaptation. The use of SmartMEDIFILTER treatments and medical filter lenses is capable of solving these problems by cutting out the blue component of light. In combination with polarization, available in two versions, Pola Light 65% and Pola Dark 85%, visual performance outdoors is enhanced, with marked compliance in the case of low-sighted patients. This treatment is available on: ! Neutral filters base 6 and base 8; ! white or photochromatic monofocal ophtalmic lenses; ! white or photochromatic bifocal ophtalmic lenses; ! white or photochromatic progressive ophtalmic lenses; ! SmartAPLANAT DUO is an aplanatic system that is particularly suitable when having to prescribe medium-high magnifications. The system consists of a doublet of two positive flat convex lenses. SmartAPLANAT DUO systems have long been used in measuring systems, as lenses for illumination, since they have the property of shedding light uniformly over the whole surface of the lens, so guaranteeing a high-quality, uniform image free from peripheral G roup co SmartAPLANAT DUO™ aberrations. The lenses are made in 1.80 index to reduce thickness and increase the compliance. " ! sa The two lenses are mounted on a special CR 39 rl o f i n o a lenses with thickness between 4.5mm up to 8.5mm. When edged on acetate frame the system appear very thin and aesthetic. The flat surfaces of the lenses face outwards. The use of medium-index lenses combined with careful design of the frames makes SmartBINO an discreet aid for low vision. They are available also with HMC, multi-layer anti-reflex scratchproof treatment and Macula Coating, a controlled-nanometre filtering treatment.
