ORGANIC WOOL THE RAW MATERIAL

The wool for the semilla yarn comes from eco-breeders from all over the world. The raw material is certified according to GOTS *, which means that the sheep are kept according to approved organic standards, lovingly and gently sheared, and receive antibiotics only in absolute exceptional cases.

THE COLORS

The colors used are GOTS certified. That is, they are free of pollutants such as toxic heavy metals and biodegradable.

THE PRODUCTION

The raw material for the Ă–ko-Schurwolle SEMILLA is prepared in Germany, spun in Italy. The raw material is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), the world's leading standard for the processing of textiles from biologically produced natural fibers. At a high level, it defines environmental requirements along the entire production chain while at the same time meeting the social criteria that must be adhered to. Only the production process is not certified. It is very difficult to find spinning mills that can guarantee a GOTS-certified production process, as this requires a complete separation of the production process for GOTS fibers from conventional fibers. The packaging should also consist of paper or cardboard, which would not be practical in the logistics systems used in the knitting yarn industry.
