NOTE

Our August edition has been dedicated to the phenomenal women of Umhlanga and the North Coast for as long as I can remember. When it started out, our goal was to compliment the focus and celebration of Women’s month in August, which it still does; but the theme, now a foundational part of our annual collections, has come to represent so much more.

Each year, we’ve got to tell new, exciting stories of women’s incredible contributions across so many different fields and areas of our community. And while we cover these types of stories throughout the year, having one dedicated edition to our remarkable women somehow brings a very different focus to the edition overall as well as a unique, uplifting reading experience. We love the whole process involved in crafting and delivering these stories in such a meaningful theme. It makes me think we should go back over the previous editions and do a few follow up stories… but that’s for another edition! For now, here are some of the highlights I think you’ll enjoy.

"Capturing Magic" brings you the enchanting world of four talented photographers who have found their muse in Umhlanga. They share their unique styles and what draws them to capture the magic of this beautiful locale. Each photographer offers a distinct perspective, revealing the essence of Umhlanga through their lenses. In "Women Don't Owe Pretty", Kai delves into the little rituals that make women feel empowered and confident.

From getting your hair done to a simple manicure, these acts of self-care are about self-love and self-respect, reminding us that beauty routines are personal choices and not societal obligations. Our "Aesthetics" feature explores the dynamic world of women-led aesthetic clinics. These clinics are not just about enhancing beauty but about boosting confidence and promoting self-care. We highlight the innovative techniques these women employ and their visions for growing their businesses while making their clients feel their best.

In "Women in Business", we showcase the stories of women excelling in diverse industries such as culinary arts, law, and medicine. These women share their journeys, the challenges they've faced, and how they maintain excellence in their fields. Their stories are not just inspiring but a testament to the power of dedication and hard work. The "Create" segment introduces you to women who have turned their passions into thriving businesses. From handcrafted goods to innovative products, these women demonstrate that creativity and entrepreneurship go hand in hand.

Finally, we present "Aizoa Botanicals", a refreshing aperitif that offers the pleasure of a buzz without the negative effects of alcohol. This innovative product embodies the spirit of modern wellness and is a delightful addition to any social gathering. So as we celebrate Women’s Month, let us honour the women who inspire us with their strength, creativity, and unwavering spirit and who allow us to share their stories. This edition is dedicated to them and to every woman who is making Umhlanga and KZN a better and more vibrant place to live.

Enjoy the read and we look forward to chatting in our next edition!

God Bless

Your Purpose Is Right In Front of You

When life is happy and things are going well, it’s easy to allow these moments to give our lives meaning, but when life slows down or forces us to introspect, it’s then that the questions around our purpose often surface. What does it mean to be alive? What is it that fuels me to wake up each day and live out that day? Do I live each day with purpose? These are questions that all of us will wrestle with constantly in this lifetime.

For as long as I can remember, I thought purpose was supposed to be one big moment or season of life. I dreamt of the time when I’d wake up and feel that at long last, that moment was here. I’d wake up, make a cappuccino in my fancy coffee machine, go for a run, eat a healthy breakfast, and then head off to speak at a world-renowned conference. But the truth is, that purpose rarely looks like this.

In fact, I’ve been humbled to my core on two occasions, when I’ve been able to live out my socalled dreams. Happiness is but a marker, you see, and when achieved it is short-lived before we swiftly set a new benchmark for what we desire. Perhaps, if I may challenge this failing narrative, what if our purpose is simply about doing well today? What if true happiness comes when we stop longing to know our purpose and instead begin living out each day as if that was our purpose.

Right there, you live in your world, within your community, with your career, and with your family. You can be rest assured, knowing that your purpose flows from who you are, and it’s made

up of what you do. Personally, I know that it’s been in the seasons when I’ve known who I am, deeply and securely, that my purpose has flowed almost effortlessly out of me, and I have no doubt that it would from you too.

One challenging yet beautiful question that has often been the catalyst for me when walking into a season of deep purpose is ‘If you had no excuses, what is it you want to do, begin or complete today?’ Meaning is rarely found in momentary happiness, but the simple shift from chasing joy to asking yourself what it is that’s in your hands (in your life) right now and what you can do with it, that is surely to open up a lifetime lived on purpose.

So look in. Look up. Look out. And live well today!

Happiness is but a marker, you see, and when achieved it is shortlived before we swiftly set a new benchmark for what we desire

In celebration of Women's Month in August, we look at these phenomenal ladies in different industries sharing their stories.

Culinary Creativity

TELL US ABOUT WHO YOU ARE

I’m Micky Munn, a self-taught chef spreading smiles through delicious food with my business, Kitchen Confident. Originally from the Karoo, I grew up with wholesome meals being constantly prepared. I cook because it’s what I love, and I think I do it quite well if I say so myself. I’m a mother to one son who is currently studying in Cape Town.

GETTING INTO THE BUSINESS

I used to be in the corporate world and cooking was how I spent my downtime and I found that it just worked better for me. I never say “no” to clients, if it’s humanly possible, I will find a way to make it happen for them. My motto is “when it comes to food, the world’s your oyster”, there’s no limit to what you can do. What inspires me to keep going financially, however, is funding my son and his studies at the moment.

WAYS TO DISCONNECT FROM WORK

The honest answer is that I don’t. As soon as one function is over, there’s ingredients to buy for the next one, not to mention the admin I have to catch up with. If I do happen to get a few free moments, I'm in my most comfortable pyjamas on my couch, watching the crime channel.

GETTING THE IDEAS TO CREATE

INSPIRATION AND INFLUENCES

I don’t really have any role models or anything like that. I am very confident in my own abilities and follow my own path. The way I live has always been authentic and stayed true to what I believe in; being strong and independent. Giving back to the people is something I am passionate about, even if it’s a smile or a helping hand in the community.

Everyone knows my word for where the food ideas come from, I always say “it just pinged me”. Inspiration comes to me from anywhere and any time, really. It could be while watching TV, cooking, or even getting a glass of water at 03:00 am. I enjoy making and eating healthy food so creating healthy dishes with fruits and vegetables comes to me naturally.

Medical Expertise

TELL

US ABOUT WHO YOU ARE

I’m Dr Salome Booth, a devoted wife, mother of two young boys, and a passionate medical doctor. I have multiple certifications in aesthetic medicine to complement my medical degrees (Medical Science, Medicine, and Surgery) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

This allows me to blend my passion for helping people with my expertise, in skin and body treatments, to improve patients' mental and physical wellbeing. My practice, Dr Salome Booth Aesthetics and Medical, aims to help patients achieve their goals and regain confidence, one session at a time.

GETTING INTO THE BUSINESS

My career in aesthetic medicine began as a general practitioner. Seeing the profound impact of skin and body issues on mental health has inspired my focus on aesthetic medicine.

My goal is to produce natural results that leave patients feeling confident. Energised by results, my patientcentred approach ensures everyone feels valued and has their needs addressed.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

As a woman in this industry, balancing

professional and personal life posed many challenges, my determination and faith have helped me overcome them. By fostering a supportive community and showcasing the transformative power of aesthetic medicine, we can shift perceptions, and emphasise its role in boosting confidence and mental health.

WAYS TO DISCONNECT FROM WORK

Unwinding for me means spending quality time with my family, especially my two boys. My Christian faith plays a crucial role in keeping me grounded as I find solace in prayer and meditation. This balance between family, faith, and relaxation helps me recharge and stay focused.

ADVICE AND INSPIRATION

The best advice I’ve received is to always stay true to your values and never stop learning.

My inspiration comes from my mother, who was a nurse, and who taught me the power of perseverance and kindness. Her example drives me to continually strive for excellence and compassion in my work.

Leading Legal Lady

TELL US ABOUT WHO YOU ARE

My name is Lea Wimble–founder and owner of Wimble Attorneys, specialist conveyancing practice. I identify as a woman, wife, mom of three, runner, reader, sister, friend, and sometimes (depending on the time of day) a ringmaster to our circus (it gets wild!).

GETTING INTO THE BUSINESS

I am the original academically inclined front row student. I love learning and improving myself, and that transpired into (almost) 10 years of studying three law degrees, and a career in teaching Law to LL.B and B Commerce students. In 2016, we moved to the beautiful uMhlanga Village, and in 2019, Wimble Attorneys was born with the motto, “How can we help?”

My team and I love this city and we look for opportunities to serve our clients and community.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

The biggest challenge I faced was to overcome the limitations I placed on myself. I used to think that “bigger is better” and that I had to reach a certain level of success before I could make a contribution to my society. Now I know, that even as a small business, I can have a big impact on my community if I simply love and live my purpose every day. I think people can improve the legal industry when they stop seeing themselves as people who show up to work every day and start thinking of themselves as people with a purpose to build a better city and be a blessing.

WAYS TO DISCONNECT FROM WORK

Before dawn, you will find me in my running kit. And after sunset, you will find me with my reading glasses and a book. In both instances, with a large cappuccino in hand,

sourced from Daily Dose, my favourite spot.

ADVICE AND INSPIRATION

All my life and business decisions need to align with my faith and values. I intentionally continue to grow as a person and as a business. A woman who has inspired me is my mom, Carol Theron. She made headlines in the 1970s as Kimberley’s first female pharmacist and business owner. She and my dad worked as a team in her pharmacy and she raised my sisters and me in the dispensary. From a young age, we were raised in an environment where my parents worked well together and harder than anyone else we knew (which became our benchmark) and the principle that “every customer is a king.”

Beauty and Precision

TELL US ABOUT WHO YOU ARE

My name is Dr Parushinee Naidoo. I am a medical doctor with over two decades of experience and have a special interest in aesthetic medicine. I have founded Skin Solutions aesthetic medical clinics with branches in Umhlanga and Ballito, and I’m the African based key opinion leader for market leading medical aesthetic devices, and products. In a personal capacity, I am a wife, and a mom of two teenagers. I have a profound passion for travelling and have been lucky enough to have visited over 26 countries. I enjoy culinary experiences, both cooking and tasting. I love outdoor adventures with my family.

GETTING INTO THE BUSINESS

I feel that my ability to adapt to change and to use every experience as a learning point is my strength, in this business. I respect the power of people, and strive to build meaningful relationships with my patients, and colleagues within my industry.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

I go back to the basics. I reaffirm what my core values are and what my goals are and remind myself of why I started my business. I lean into the support of my family as well. Sometimes I take a proper time out and this usually gives me a good perspective and the energy to address the challenges with vigour.

WAYS TO DISCONNECT FROM WORK

I love getting lost in the world of words. On average, I read two books a week. Everything from non-fiction to sci-fi and romance. I also love being active and trying new experiences. Travelling is one of my greatest passions; it allows me to disconnect and become reinspired.

ADVICE AND INSPIRATION

I find inspiration in all women. Literally every one of my patients has inspired something in me. There are ordinary women accomplishing extraordinary things through their imagination and hard work. Working moms juggling a million balls, stay-at-home moms making meaningful impact in their homes and communities, my staff members who have such great work ethic, and my own daughter navigating this world with her special grace and creativity.

Balancing opposites and nurturing talent, RVCA stands as more than a fashion brand—it's a cultural movement. Magic Capturing

On-site or in the studio, photographers have a way of capturing the beauty in people, nature and even food! Meet a few local photographers who put their heart and soul into every shot taken.

Collaborating with local restaurants and brands, Tayla finds her expertise in lifestyle and food photography and creates online content for them to engage with the public. She loves shooting at some of the stunning locations in the area.

If she’s not in one of the amazing local restaurants, she’s shooting on the beach. With people recognising the importance of having an online presence and cherishing time with family, Tayla has turned her attention to photography and content creation full-time.

With a special interest in editorial photography, she also excels in capturing timeless portraits and unforgettable wedding moments. Nontethelelo takes pride in bringing stories and emotions to life through her lens. Being a photographer in Umhlanga, she loves how the town offers a unique blend of urban vibrancy and natural splendour. Koro, a French model who visited Durban with friends, commissioned Nontethelelo to capture her beauty, and she suggested Umhlanga beach as the perfect backdrop.

@durbanphotographer_

As a bubbly people's person, Nezelia gravitated towards lifestyle shoots especially couples, weddings, maternity, and young families. She loves it when the dogs come too! She captures authentic moments when you aren't looking by treating your session like a sunset date or a morning splashing in the waves. Sunrise shoots at Umhlanga beach are just magical! The scenery never disappoints, even on a cloudy day.

@nezeliaalexphotography

Pagiel specialises in fashion and advertising photography, focusing on creating visually compelling content for fashion brands and advertising campaigns that highlight the aesthetics of fashion products. The location offers a great variety, from ocean views to a forest-like atmosphere just across the boardwalk. Pagiel has done so many shoots that it’s hard to single out just one shoot, but one thing he never forgets is that there’s always a friendly dog coming by to say hello. As a dog person, there’s nothing better.

This women's month, we look at women pushing boundaries and leading the aesthetics industry

Aesthetics, a booming and specialised practice, encompasses but is not limited to cosmetic procedures, skincare, and beauty products. It has changed the way people approach their personal care and self-improvement. Always looking toward developing and improving their techniques, these doctors and technicians regard their clients with care and precision.

Founder of Beyond Skin, Dr Bhavna Singh is a Specialist Dermatologist. She has over 12 years of experience in dermatology and provides professional and skilled services managing both adult and paediatric medical conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, hair loss, pigmentation, autoimmune conditions and skin cancers, to name a few. In addition, she is skilled at performing minor surgical procedures and aesthetic dermatology.

She heads a multidimensional team of ladies with various skill sets focusing on general medical health, skin and aesthetics. This encompasses the practice EmporiDerm, which she took over in 2023, as a whole and she still maintains her brand Beyond Skin. “My job involves dealing with something that is so important to a person—their appearance— it's a gratifying and humbling feeling when you make a difference.

LOVEMORE AESTHETICS

I am passionate about healthy skin and endeavour to always provide patientcentred care,” Dr Bhavna explains.

The most requested medical treatment is mole-mapping for skin cancer detection and then removal of skin cancers or benign growths via cryotherapy, cautery, or excision. Then, most requested cosmetic treatments are the medical grade chemical peels and SkinPen microneedling. When it comes to non-surgical aesthetic treatments, neurotoxin (‘Botox’) and

thereafter dermal fillers are what the team handles. Even though Dr Bhavna isn’t currently offering any laser therapies, she aims to invest in laser, and radiofrequency devices to expand the range of her offerings for patients.

Open since 2023 by Lwazi Mathenjwa, Idiosyncratic Aesthetic is a medical and beauty aesthetic practice. Wanting to help people with their skin and bodies, they utilise advanced technological equipment that ensure patients achieve the best results.

Rest assured that a visit to Idiosyncratic Aesthetics will see you having any skin and weight concerns addressed. This is a gender-neutral practice that welcomes everyone and a diverse range of treatments to accommodate them. Treatments include laser, IV drip therapy, tattoo removal, skin tags, weight loss with fat freeze and fat dissolve injections, muscle growth, hair loss with microneedling, and chemical peels.

Due to its versatile nature their most famous treatments would be the IV drip therapy and weight management treatments. In the near future, they are looking at including Botox and fillers in their treatment offering since they are the most requested treatments from patients. In this industry, you’re always learning something new and listening to the needs of clients can help to determine which

courses to register for regarding that treatment. Idiosyncratic makes sure that they adhere to these requests and add on accordingly.

Founded with the intention of encouraging women to be more confident by being

hair-free, Lovemore Aesthetics and Kate Lovemore love making a difference in their clients’ lives. Realising that the laser treatments alone don’t work on everyone, Kate introduced electrolysis which works better, especially on people with lighter hair colours. She ventured to offer a safe space where clients can feel comfortable getting their treatments done and leave feeling beautiful and more assertive.

Since the chin area is very hormonal and often has the thickest hair, that is one of the most common problem areas Kate treats. Electrolysis is the only 100% FDA approved permanent hair removal treatment where you use a tiny probe and treat each hair individually with a tiny electric pulse to kill the "food factory" that feeds the hair. She also removes skin tags, milia, broken capillaries on the face, cherry angiomas, and more. Working with transgender clients, she helps them start their transition journey by working on their facial hair and then other areas to get them ready for the gender reassignment surgery.

To expand her offering, Kate is currently looking to add holistic massages and specialised anti-ageing facials. She often speaks to people who have done certain LOVEMORE AESTHETICS

treatments to gain insight on what she learns to help her clients in a less invasive way. She uses her own experience to recommend the best courses of treatment to her clients.

Having a background in makeup artistry, Kiyara’s curiosity and interest in the beauty industry led her to expand her expertise and establishing K.sthetique Beauty and Skin. She wants to cater to a whole range of people, from the mother who has no time to do her makeup to the person struggling with hair loss due to alopecia. Kiyara believes that beauty goes beyond skin deep and women investing in themselves is the greatest revolution.

Rising from ADVERSITY The Tale of Connor's Public House

Nestled atop a hill with panoramic views of Durban's coastline lies Connor's Public House; a beacon of traditional Irish hospitality infused with a resilient spirit. Founded in 1998 by Gerry and Christine Connor, this beloved establishment has weathered storms that would have left others in despair, emerging each time stronger and more beloved than before.

Originally gracing the Elangeni Hotel, Connor's Public House enjoyed 16 fruitful years before fate dealt a challenging hand. In 2014, the Connors faced the heartbreaking reality of Gerry's battle with Motor Neurone Disease, a struggle that ultimately claimed his life in 2016. Yet, from the depths of grief emerged a testament to determination as Christine, alongside their son Daniel, continued to steward their cherished pub. The move in 2014 to Makeurten Avenue in Durban North marked a new chapter, where Connor's Public House quickly became a cornerstone of the community, fostering growth and camaraderie. However, the resilience of the Connors would face its ultimate test

with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Despite adversity, including the landlord's decision not to renew their lease, Christine faced the challenge head-on, leaving with dignity and resolve. Undeterred, Christine embarked on a quest to find a new home for Connor's Public House, eventually settling on the corner of Burn Crescent and Ashleigh Avenue. The dilapidated state of the new venue did little to dissuade her, rather, it fuelled her determination to restore it to its former glory. With steadfast support from her loyal team, led by General Manager Anneke Page, and a community rallying behind her, Connor's Public House underwent a transformation that defied skeptics.

Today, three years since its resurrection, Connor's Public House stands as a beacon of triumph, having recently been awarded the Best Pub in Durban for the second consecutive year. The ambience exudes warmth and charm, complemented by stunning ocean views and a bustling beer garden nestled among stylish rose beds. Known for its hearty pub fare and signature Beef and Guinness Pie, the establishment also boasts a dedicated staff renowned for their hospitality. Not forgetting the new and improved breakfast menu on offer! Live entertainment, numerous televisions, and a discreet casino room cater to a diverse clientele, ensuring there's always something for everyone. Recent additions, like a gazebo awning over the beer garden and sustainable infrastructure including a massive Jojo tank and inverters, underscore Christine's commitment to excellence and preparedness for any challenge that may arise.

As the sun sets over Durban's horizon, Connor's Public House continues to shine brightly; it's a testament to unwavering courage, power of perseverance, and their enduring legacy. Rising from the ashes of adversity and betrayal, it stands as it is fondly termed, their ‘castle in the sky’ offering patrons not just a place to dine and unwind, but a home away from home.

DON'T OWE ANYBODY WOMEN

Pretty

Women should embrace beauty rituals for themselves, and find empowerment in these acts of self-care. Confidence comes from looking after yourself, whether through a pampering spa treatment, perfect brows, lush lashes, or dazzling nails.

WORDS KAI COATES

The only thing more beautiful than a woman who knows what she wants, is a woman who beautifies herself solely for her own pleasure. These small, almost ritualistic acts of self-care, are incredibly empowering. When you choose to take care of yourself, you become more confident in who you are and what you do.

In essence, women don't owe anyone their beauty but themselves. As a young adult discovering my true identity, I am grateful for the many women who have helped me find myself, to grow and to continue to question things. Through it all, I have embraced some of these monthly routines not for anyone else, but for myself, and in this edition, I am so excited to share my Top four August picks with you.

Starting with haircare, I don’t know if anyone else can relate, but when I get my hair done, the wash is one of the best parts for me. That lovely head massage that can send you right to sleep… Well, there is a new treatment in town that so

many people have been raving about. At Body Beautiful, Durban North, they have something called The Hydrobar Spa. It's literally ALL ABOUT the wash and massage! You can choose a 45, 60, or 90-minute scalp massage treatment. Not only was my head and hair loving the TLC, but I also completely melted and decompressed.

A scalp scrub, hair wash and condition, professional JOICO 4-phase treatment, head/scalp massage, and basic blowdry… Now that’s a monthly routine I can get behind! Oh, and did I mention the spa beds you lie on during the treatment are

heated? It was like getting into a cosy bed and then being treated like a queen, just magic.

Next, we focused on what gets done more consistently, starting with a feature that shows your emotion—the eyebrows. As someone with light hair, I don't need this too often. However, I learnt some very valuable tips at Her Brows, Durban North.

After a lovely scrub and cleanse, my eyebrows were mapped out for the best shape to fit my facial features. My henna colour was custom-mixed to

A person who loves and respects themselves is not selfish; they just know the importance of self-care and selfimprovement.

blend well with my current hair colour, I loved the result! After dyeing my eyebrows, I experienced threading for the first time… Ouch! But being told that waxing ages the skin faster, resulting in easier sagging skin, I will confidently recommend threading.

Having a lady so passionate about eyebrow health and growth, was wonderful and very informative, helping me understand how to ultimately get full luscious brows.

Now that we are on a roll with new brows, what about new lashes? I love

to spoil myself every now and then by getting my lashes done because putting on and wiping off mascara is a mission. Again, light hair makes it look like I don’t have lashes. Miaco by Cobi Naude, located in The Skin & Laser Clinic, Durban North, exceeded my expectations. She delicately gave me a classic set of lashes. Usually, you would only find black extensions, but Cobi surprised me with a range of brown shades, which made my lashes look all the more natural… truly gorgeous. Even after just these few treatments, my confidence in myself escalated. But you know there is still

one last thing that needs to be done. I know I am not the only woman who feels this unexplainable feeling of strength and power when her nails are beautiful. Long or short nails, french or wildly colourful, it really does not matter… Every woman is different, and we can have our nails as we like and what best suits your personality.

Très Beaux Studios at The Pearls bedazzled my nails in a black and white star design with silver diamantes for that extra bling. Tandi ensured that I felt special by decorating her nail station with a sign

welcoming me to the salon. I left feeling like a 10/10 and ready to conquer the rest of the day.

No matter what you like to get done to feel great about yourself, don’t do it for anyone but you. Use your confidence as the fuel to your success, and always remember that confidence looks different on everyone… nails, hair, or lashes.

We can all agree, us women find power in feeling good, looking gorgeous and walking in confidence.

Meanwhile, Gaby Akal has started Botanical to capture and preserve floral memories forever. Still a relative newbie, Gaby was inspired by similar projects she saw abroad. The idea came from brides who wanted to keep their wedding day arrangements and transform them into a memento they could keep forever. She then looked into it and learned everything she could about working with resin. It doesn’t stop at weddings though, seeing the gap in the market, Gaby saw that it could work for birthdays and even engagement flowers which can be

displayed in homes long after the event is over.

Looking at getting exposure for a small business and getting your name out there can be one of the biggest challenges for a small business, but Gaby has found that once people start talking about and tagging the product, you’d be amazed at how fast word can spread. Starting out on something new will always be daunting and it won’t be perfect the first time, but when you’re creating something you love, Gaby advises to just go for it.

Your passion will shine through in everything you create. “Don’t worry about making mistakes or any imperfections, those little pieces add character to your business or your product,” she says. When you look at the potential of the business— the opportunities are endless. Gaby wants to add more moulds to her repertoire for people to choose from as she grows and learns.

Durban-born Jo Champ loves living near the sea. She resides here and has raised a family in a community that fosters a strong sense of togetherness and support. Jo has been in the clothing industry for over 30 years and has her own brand, her namesake, JO CHAMP. You may have seen her pieces in stores all over KZN like White Summer in Ballito and Unison Store in Mount Edgecombe.

JO CHAMP

This brand began as a flea market project and became a beloved business over the years. The range has evolved into an inclusive brand which offers a diverse range of designs and sizes. The fabrics they work with influences the designs made and that gives Jo the freedom to experiment and create different styles to have something for everyone and keeping prices affordable. She also takes great inspiration from her mother and grandmother who were successful businesswomen in their own right! They encouraged her to take the dive into the fashion industry and her mother is still the biggest fan till this day.

Jo advises patience when starting your own business, getting the capital to begin can be a challenge. She suggests exercising restraint when starting out and not overextending yourself financially to back your ideas. Surround yourself with good people, trust in God, and always be ready to embrace change. With summer around the corner, Jo and her team are working on a much anticipated linen range and plans

to engage with clients to get their insight to what they want to wear in the hot Durban summers!

Desi Designs, a company dedicated to designing and customising unique shoes with henna art, is inspired by the owner’s, Therusha Chetty, rich heritage. With African roots, South Indian heritage and Western upbringing allows her to bridge the gap between the cultures and create something truly amazing where no two items are the same. Living by the coast means a constant flow of ideas for Therusha and going for walks on the pier or through the nature reserve create an environment conducive to being creative. Noticing the people around her weren’t in touch with

their traditional heritage, she decided that she wanted to create awareness around it and help the youth acknowledge and be proud of their heritage. Therusha aims to start a movement where the legacy of her ancestors are passed down for generations to come and put a modern twist on these traditional artforms.

Balancing studying and working 70 hours a week to fulfil orders meant that Therusha had to manage her time carefully and endure the long hours. Believing in her brand and what she wanted to achieve, she persevered. She loves seeing the happiness each of her creations gives to those who commission them, making all the work worth it.

Serenity s

A top investment on the KZN South Coast

With its unmatched coastal beauty, year-round subtropical climate, and recent surge in investor interest, the KZN South Coast has become South Africa’s latest in-demand residential location. This growth has been supported by high-end real estate developments such as the eco-focused estate in Margate, Serenity Hills.

Developed by internationally-renowned organisation, Amsonia, and local partner, the Wenger Family, Serenity Hills is a 120-hectare residential estate which will consist of 600 beautifully appointed homes across three neighbourhoods—with more than 50% retained as private conservation for the diverse birds and wildlife.

Drawing on lessons learned from developments along the KwaZulu-Natal

coastline, Serenity Hills maximises the existing natural space to ensure the area is not overbuilt. Rather, residents of this low-density estate will enjoy the relaxed coastal lifestyle, making use of the region’s Blue Flag beaches, untouched nature reserves, world-class dive sites in Marine Protected Areas, and many outdoor activities.

The freestanding, solar-ready homes with optional upgrades and modern finishes range from 2-bedroom to 4-bedroom units, with an attractive starting price of just R1.5m, inclusive of the land. There are also vacant stands from just R370 000, giving buyers the option to design a dream home within the architectural guidelines. Only two of the six Serenity Hills Forest Pods remain—distinctive homes designed to blend into the natural surroundings, promising exclusive luxury living, with

a starting price of R 5.7m. As all prices include VAT and there are no transfer duties, this results in significant savings for purchasers.

A clubhouse, award-winning restaurant, and sports and recreational facilities are available for residents’ use in the petfriendly estate, with on-site water storage facilities and nearby amenities—including schools, healthcare facilities, and shopping centres—making this a prime residential location.

Interested buyers are encouraged to check out the remaining plots available in Serenity Hills as home investments, with many units also offering attractive rental yields in a managed environment.

Without the Booze A Buzz

During the 2020 lockdown, Jess van Vuuren returned to Durban after four years abroad, facing overwhelming emotions and anxiety. Working with Nature's Relief, she began experimenting with their tinctures, creating blends that uplifted her spirits and brought mental clarity. This personal experimentation led to the birth of Aizoa Botanicals.

"This journey was deeply personal," Jess shares. "When I was younger and learning my limits with drinking, an incident occurred where I lost control more than I realised. This affected my social anxiety, making me apprehensive about social interactions."

Aizoa became her solution, offering the perfect balance of enhancing her mood while allowing her to stay in control. Collaborating with a skilled pharmacist and biochemist, she refined her kitchen experiment into a professionally crafted product. "Aizoa aids in social interactions by providing a drink that enhances mood and clarity without altering your state of mind," Jess notes. It supports genuine connections with others by ensuring individuals remain present and engaged. Furthermore, Aizoa's low sugar content and absence of alcohol help maintain a healthy gut, enabling individuals to listen to their gut instincts without disruption.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MINDFUL CONSUMPTION

Jess defines mindful consumption as being conscious of everything we consume, including food, drinks, media, and our environment. "What we consume shapes who we become, and to a large extent, it is something we can control," she explains.

Aizoa's ingredients are chosen for their excellent health benefits, supporting various aspects of health, from boosting immunity to promoting better digestion and cognitive function. In social settings, where drinking alcohol is prevalent, Aizoa allows individuals to enjoy a beverage without drawing unwanted attention or pressure to drink alcohol. Unlike alcohol, Aizoa does not lead to hangovers, ensuring individuals wake up feeling refreshed, alert, and fully present.

"Aizoa was designed to be an option for those who choose not to drink alcohol, whether because they are driving or for various other reasons, but still want to feel energised, take the edge off, and stay in control," Jess says. The brand is built on a love for collaboration and is inspired by the innovation of small businesses and brands.

Aizoa Botanicals stands as a testament to Jess's journey and commitment to mindful consumption and personal wellness. Through its carefully crafted products, Aizoa offers a pathway to greater self-awareness, holistic wellbeing, and meaningful connections with others.

Locally Inspired Stories

Igrew up in a little town called Verulam, a pretty little town where everyone seemed to know each other. I currently live in Umhlanga with my husband, who has always been encouraging and supportive of my writing, and my mischievous little fur baby!

Growing up, I was very fortunate to have a mother who loved reading and storytelling, so my love of books and making up stories developed at a very young age. I’d like to think of myself as an avid reader. I opted to study science at university, completing an MSc and then a PhD in Physiology. Yet my passion was always for literature. I married my high school sweetheart, lectured for a while, and then gave it up to raise our

children. During this time, I formed a few book clubs, joined a writers' group and then a readers' group. When I was little, I had always enjoyed making up and telling stories to my friends, and then to my own children when they were little. So, writing a story seemed natural to me. I had noticed that it's human nature to look back at one's childhood and see ‘a golden time’. I wanted to write a story that told the truth—from the perspective of the youth of the time.

My childhood town and its people were the inspiration for this fictional coming-of-age story, of four young girls growing up in a little South African town in the 1970s, and the impact the disappearance of one of the girls has on the lives of the other three.

A Bend in the Road allows one to see beneath the surface of what appears to be a tranquil, moral and safe town—perfect for children to grow up in—and to acknowledge some of the ugly truths that are not usually addressed. At the same time, it is a story about the exuberance of childhood, and the ability of even the most traumatised to overcome adversity and thrive.

There can be no feeling more gratifying for a writer than getting positive feedback from your readers. I’m delighted that my book has resonated with those who have read it, and the reviews I’ve received (even on Goodreads) have been amazing!

South Africa has produced some worldrenowned female writers in the past. There are now other newer voices, of female writers like Joanne Joseph, Sisonke Msimang, and Mohale Mashigo, whose works often reflect the lives and encounters of ordinary people. Their contributions have paved the way for greater diversity, inclusivity and representation in South African literature.

I’d like to think that, as a female writer in South Africa, I represent one of these many voices that not only entertains as a storyteller but that also has a deeper, more challenging message. A Bend in the Road will hopefully encourage people to call out abusive, cruel and hypocritical behaviour of the past and present.

I’m currently working on my second novel, a very different story altogether—a psychological fiction with a bit of a gothic spin. I’m thoroughly enjoying creating my characters, who sometimes take on a life of their own and surprise even me! I need to teach myself not to become too fond of them, lest they need to be sacrificed as the plot moves along!

I’ve also written a series of seven little stories for young children, inspired by my little dog with a big personality! These stories are still to be illustrated before I consider submitting them for publication.

Winding Down in the Wilderness

WORDS AMY JENKINS & CRISTINA GOVENDER

Part of the Drakensberg Experience, Sasi Bush Lodge is a getaway for those who want to reconnect with nature while enjoying their luxury accommodation amenities and phenomenal service.

The second half of this year has certainly kept all of us on our toes. Sometimes, you really need that breather from the daily grind, and being somewhere you won’t even get a cell signal so you can fully disconnect.

Sasi Bush Lodge lies approximately three and a half hours from Umhlanga. Located on Kilburn Private Game Farm in Northern Drakensberg, this is a luxury tented camp

which strives to revive and restore the land by rewilding the area with the animals that roamed the lands and by removing the invasive alien plant life.

Amy and her sister arrived at the reception where they had to leave their car behind while a game ranger, Nkanyiso, shuttled them into Sasi Private Estate in a more appropriate vehicle for the terrain. They were welcomed with friendly chatter,

suggestions and tips for their stay, and were briefed on what they might see or experience.

Upon their arrival at the lodge, they were warmly greeted by the staff, making them feel as if they were coming home to longlost friends and family. With fresh juice in hand and warm towelettes to freshen up after the trip, they were made to feel like royalty.

As the sun started to set and the mountain air chilled further, they relaxed in the lounge area while their luggage was taken to their tent.

The knowledgeable Mthoko, gave them an overview of the available activities and amenities at the lodge, eating times and meal options, and also inquired about any specific dietary requirements from them. They decided to stay in the lounge area and take in the beautiful surroundings with a glass of red wine.

Mthoko walked them to the luxury tent they were calling “home” for the weekend.

They stayed in the Ukusa Tent. This tent has an expansive view of the Drakensberg mountainscape and the interior decor leaves those who stay there in awe. The built-in fireplace warmed up the room, chasing the winter chill creeping in away, and the ornate chandelier crafted from branches of local trees added that safari decor element to the room.

The homely feel was complemented by the small deck with two chairs which faced those mighty mountains (which had snow caps at the time). You could also look at the Kilburn Dam and the game park from the comfort of your bed through large stack doors which open up giving you an unobstructed view of the area.

Before sundowners and dinner, the sisters decided to go out for a short walk around the lodge and were greeted by one of the resident ostriches! She was very friendly and entertaining as she admired herself in the reflection of the windows. They also spied a beautiful pool for guests to enjoy in the warmer seasons. The dining area surrounds patrons with warmth and history as they dine. Dinner for that night consisted of lamb pie accompanied by roasted julienne carrots and garlic-coated green beans followed by a nougat pie for dessert.

Sunday morning started off with them waking up early to catch the sunrise. While they couldn’t see the sun itself, they did get to watch the sky change colours over the mountainscape and the mist floating over the dam, an equally beautiful sight! After spending some time in bed, sipping on hot coffee, they got ready and headed down for breakfast. They were served sweetened stewed peaches and a panna cotta for starters followed by eggs, bacon, and toast accompanied by freshly brewed coffee. After the hearty breakfast,

they decided to explore further and take a lengthy walk around the game farm. The experience of walking around and being able to see the wildlife is truly unique. You can spot some giraffes, zebras, buck, and wildebeest. If you’re feeling brave, there are also rumoured leopards in the mountains. The lodge offers guided game drives in the morning and afternoon, or you can choose to get your steps in while taking in the surroundings. Once they were satisfied with their revitalising morning walk, they headed back to the tent where the masseuses were already setting up one of the sought-after Sasi Massage sessions for them. They were left feeling thoroughly relaxed and “partially unconscious”; the

perfect relaxation! For dinner on night two, they were served a beef fillet with a mustard sauce accompanying it with roasted potatoes and a butternut pie to finish the last night off. The rest of the night was spent enjoying the cosy fire in the room and they retired early so they could catch that magical sunrise again. After breakfast on Monday morning, they were shuttled back to their car after an exceptional weekend in the bush. It’s a great getaway, a place you can return to and suitable for the family, couples and friend groups.

Monakko is situated in the heart of Umhlanga, at the Park Square. You can expect an exquisite blend of prime steaks, succulent seafood, and masterfully crafted sushi. Their dining space exudes elegance and comfort, making this the ideal setting for intimate gatherings. So whether you’re a steak aficionado, seafood lover or sushi enthusiast, Monakko invites you to indulge in a culinary adventure that celebrates the art of dining. Experience the extraordinary - where every meal is a celebration of flavour, passion, and excellence. Open from Tuesday through to Sunday from 11:30 am. They currently don’t have a liquor licence but you are welcome to bring your own, with no corkage fee. Book your table today and prepare to embark on a journey of culinary bliss.

MY STORY

Cindy Norcott is an innovative leader. We get to know more about her journey as a businesswoman and local influential personality.

I absolutely love seeing the expression in someone’s eyes, when they get a brand new concept or when something shifts inside them due to something I have said.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF

My name is Cindy Norcott. I am 54-years-old and I am married to Steve, my childhood sweetheart and we have two daughters, Hannah, 23 and Lexie, 19. I am a businesswoman, motivational speaker, author, and Chairperson of the Robin Hood Foundation.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS?

After finishing university, I worked for a student employment agency for two years and I decided that I would like to open up my own business. I believed that I had what it took to build my own business and I resigned.

I had a six month restraint of trade so I took a job aboard a cruise ship in Madagascar and then used the money I saved to open up my agency. It started off as Studentemps and from day one, we got business. Within a few months, we added on the Pro Talent division. I wanted to run an agency where we could offer more value to clients and build relationships with our candidates. My business turned 30 in March this year.

WHAT DREW YOU TOWARDS BECOMING A MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER AND AUTHOR?

I have always enjoyed listening to motivational speakers and I had a business mentor, Andrew, who

encouraged me to become a speaker. I put myself out there, despite having had a chronic fear of public speaking throughout school. I started marketing my talks and people started booking me. I absolutely love seeing the expression in someone’s eyes, when they get a brand new concept or when something shifts inside them due to something I have said. I love reading and writing and I wrote my first book, How to Be Unstoppable in 2014. It became a best-seller. My second

book, How does she do it? was written in 2020. I loved writing both books and I have had great feedback on both books from readers.

TELL US ABOUT WHAT LED TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ROBINHOOD FOUNDATION.

I started the Robin Hood Foundation 19 years ago, when my second daughter was born. I realised that I could clothe ten babies with the clothing I had for

one baby. I then started contacting friends who had had babies and I asked for their second hand clothes and we made up bags of baby items for new mums, called Love the Babies bags. This grew quickly to making up gogo bags, building crèches, hosting free entrepreneurial conferences and more. The ethos of the Robin Hood Foundation is to take from the rich and to give to the poor. We aim to provide hope to the most needy members of society and we aim to redress inequality in KZN.

WHAT ACHIEVEMENTS THAT YOU HAVE MADE IN YOUR CAREER THUS FAR ARE YOUR MOST MEMORABLE?

I think being asked to be a speaker at TEDx Gresham Place in 2019 was a career highlight. I have also won more than 25 awards, which has been very humbling. I received a Paul Harris award by Westville Rotary, which is the highest community service that one can receive. I consider the fact that my company has had 30 years of consecutive successful growth a great accomplishment. Due to running a successful company, I was able to start a charity foundation, which I am very proud of.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, WHO ARE LOOKING TO EMBARK ON THEIR OWN ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY?

I would encourage women to run their own business because when you have a well-functioning business, it affords you the greatest gift and that is the freedom of time, flexibility and autonomy. Women have so many roles and so many hats to wear and being an entrepreneur can create these freedoms. I encourage women to back themselves up and to find a tribe of like-minded women to support them. South Africa needs dynamic, problemsolving women who make life better for themselves and others. Having your own business is one of the most liberating things I have ever done.

SKIN DRY

Tips to Keep Your Skin Healthy and Hydrated This Winter

WORDS SKIN RENEWAL

As the temperatures drop, so do the moisture levels in our skin. And, while the dry skin struggle isn’t just reserved for the winter months, the chillier season does give us some added motivation to get on top of our skincare game.

In a nutshell, “dry” is used to describe a skin type that produces less sebum than unproblematic skin, resulting in a lack of lipids, which are key to retaining moisture and skin barrier function. All skin types need a tailored skin care routine to live its best #skingoals life and dry skin is no exception to this rule. If dry skin is top of your skincare “to-do” list, make sure to use skincare products that are specifically formulated to address dry skin and keep these things in

mind before adding it to your cart. Dry skin may react much more sensitively to soap and alkaline solutions so pick a cleanser that is gentle and won’t strip the skin of any of that precious moisture. When it comes to hydrating your skin, the goal is to repair damage and maintain the protective barrier.

Try to limit your bathing, avoid harsh soaps, say goodbye to the loofah, and pat your skin dry instead of rubbing it when you hop out of the shower. Wait a few minutes before getting dressed to let the moisturiser or any prescribed medication fully absorb into your skin, and opt for loose-fitting clothing. Avoid ingredients that can dry your skin out even more. While alcohol-, sulphate- and paraben-free is a good start, you also want

THREE STEPS TO “BYE BYE DRY!”

Step: EXFOLIATE

Regular (gentle) exfoliation – one to three times per week – helps remove dead skin cells, allowing better absorption of moisturisers.

Step: HYDRATE

Apply serums containing hyaluronic acid before moisturising to deeply hydrate the skin; use a thicker, oil-based moisturiser to provide a stronger barrier against dry air and cold temperatures; add a hydrating face mask into your routine; don’t forget to use a nourishing lip balm to curb chapping; and get yourself a humidifier at home to combat the drying effects of indoor heating systems.

to be aware that products labelled as "allnatural" can contain several botanical or plant-derived ingredients, which can irritate the skin.

Choose a moisturiser that feels right for you. Creams are more hydrating than lotions, and better suited for daytime use. Ointments and greasier moisturisers provide the most hydration, more suited to night time use. Get yourself a moisturiser that includes four must-have ingredients; barrier-protecting ceramides, antiinflammatory niacinamide, hydrationholding glycerin or shea butter and deeply hydrating (and plumping) hyaluronic acid.

Step: TREAT

www.skinrenewal.co.za

Schedule chemical exfoliation treatments with a skincare professional. Winter is ideal for these types of treatments due to reduced sun exposure. But do continue using SPF daily, as UV rays can still damage skin in winter.

Par-fectly Flavoured

The Fig Tree Restaurant

The Fig Tree Restaurant, overlooking the luscious golf course at the Simbithi Country Club, has brand new dishes being added to their menu, and we have had the privilege to try them out! For drinks, our waitress, Jabu, recommended a visually beautiful and sweet Margarita Sunrise cocktail for something on the cooler side; and for something warmer, we enjoyed chai lattes to keep us cosy on this chilly winter's day.

For starters, we were served one of the most raved about dishes off the current menu, the Coconut Curried Soup with Garlic Ciabatta—a rich and creamy dish with calamari, prawns, and mussels mixed in a lemongrass, red curry paste and coconut broth; this is well spiced and it is the most perfect bowl of seafood. I would mention that it is a well-sized portion, but we all agreed it's just too good to share! The newbie, a Smoked Salmon Stack, is quite the delight! The delicate salmon at the bottom, a tangy avocado and mango salsa in the middle, topped with two succulent prawns and finished off with a citrus compote. Holy fish!

An absolute burst of flavours in one's mouth, I'd say we started off pretty well!

For the main course, we were served the new dishes: a Rosemary and Lemon-Grilled Sole; a melt-in-your-mouth fish, complemented by garlic baby potatoes, stir-fried veggies, and tartar sauce. We then indulged in a Mozzarella and Spinach-Stuffed Chicken Fillet dish. Served with roasted sweet potato rounds, on a bed of stir-fried vegetables, and Dijon sauce. It was love at first sight with the Buttermilk Crunchy Chicken Burger; golden burger patties made from chicken thighs, layered with a spicy yet refreshing sriracha slaw, and then crispy onion rings on top, served with rustic chips. Perfection!

Then a special surprise! Chef Godfrey prepared his famous Kenyan dish for us; Kuku Bizari Ya Pwani—slow cooked chicken curry in coconut cream and traditional spices—accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and a few side treats; papad, roti, relishes, and samoosas.

Thank you, Executive Chefs Godfrey and Louis, and The Fig Tree team. We have to commend you and the Simbithi team for your hospitality

and we truly enjoyed everything that was prepared for us.

To end things off on a sweet note, as the (Margarita) Sunrise turned into an amethyst hue as it started to ‘set’, two beautiful desserts were prepared for us: a Mocha Cake, topped with a coffee speckled chocolate shard, and decorated with strawberries which was the special of the day and the Chocolate Pot De Crème, a velvety chocolate custard topped with crumbled meringues, mint, and strawberries. Creamy, decadent, and berrylicious!

A MUST TRY!

An iconic breakfast: the Simbithi Eggs Benedict; an English muffin topped with baby spinach, fresh tomato, ham, cheese, an egg done the way you'd like it, crispy bacon, the creamy homemade hollandaise sauce, crumbed onions so crunchy you can hear it from a mile away, and oh my, the crispy hash browns!

Managing Your Pigmentation

WORDS DR PARUSHINEE NAIDOO

Our skin tells the tale. It’s a tapestry that shows the lines of many smiles, laughter, and a life well lived. There may be scars from the battles of acne or childhood accidents. This canvas also displays the effects of our days in the sun, the life metamorphosis through pregnancies, and menopause. Pigmentation is one of the key manifestations. The causes and progress of pigmentation is diverse. Sun exposure, however, is one of the factors that not only stimulates pigmentation but also causes pigmentation from other sources to darken. You may often find that your previously stable pigmentation spreads and becomes darker in summer especially in our climate. There are a few generalised tips that I can advise on that will minimise further damage to the skin and help you address your pigmentation.

SUN PROTECTION

I cannot stress the importance of using sunscreen. It is the single best way to prevent both sun pigmentation and worsening of any form of pigmentation. I recommend a broadspectrum sunscreen with minimum SPF 30 daily. Yes, even on cloudy days. Reapply your sunscreen after every two to three hours. Some of the more advanced formulations even have makeup-like coverage. The best sunscreen is the one you enjoy using.

SKINCARE ROUTINE

Gentle cleansing using a mild cleanser to avoid skin irritation and worsening pigmentation. Incorporate gentle chemical exfoliation, such as lactic acid

or glycolic acid to promote skin cell turnover, and reduce the appearance of dark spots. Consider using serums with brightening ingredients like vitamin C or niacinamide to brighten the skin. Seek expert advice on introducing suitable formulations into your routine and for more advanced ingredients such as retinol. Use a moisturiser that suits your skin type to keep your skin hydrated and supple.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE

Include fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants into your diet. Stay hydrated and limit sugar and processed foods as this can contribute to inflammation and affect skin pigmentation. Practice stress-reducing activities like yoga or meditation.

PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS

For severe concerns, seek professional

advice for treatments like chemical peels, and ensure that the clinic is experienced in managing your skin type. Advanced skin treatments should ideally be performed in the cooler months. Monitor any changes in your skin and consult a doctor if you notice any anomalies, especially moles or sunspots.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY

Establish a skincare routine and be consistent with it to see improvements in pigmentation. Results may take time, so be patient and give your skin the opportunity to heal and regenerate.

GOOD HAIR DAYS

By following these tips and incorporating them into your daily routine, you can effectively manage pigmentation and maintain healthy, glowing skin. For specific concerns, consider consulting us at Skin Solutions for tailored recommendations.

Maximising Your Investment Property

Purchasing an investment property

marks a major milestone, yet it's just the beginning of your path to financial growth and generational wealth accumulation.

Consider the Three Layers of Location

The region, area within that region, and the position of your property all play a part in selecting the best location. Investment property situated in a highly sought-after region and estate can attract tenants and generate year-round income. Consider critical factors such as proximity to essential amenities, reputable schools, airports, convenient transportation routes, and thriving business hubs, as these elements significantly impact decisions of tenants.

Properties Within Estates

The value of your home within an estate far exceed those outside of estates. Not only will you be investing in a secure environment, if you purchase properties that are off-plan, you have the benefit of not paying transfer duty. Purchasing within an estate also offers your potential tenants peace of mind with enhanced security, well-maintained communal areas, and a strong sense of community.

Understanding the Market

While real estate agent insights are paramount, it's crucial to carry out some of your own investigations and further understand the local property market. Staying informed about local market trends is crucial; it helps in making strategic decisions about pricing, marketing, and even the timing of selling your property in the future.

Financial Management

Manage your finances carefully by establishing a dedicated account for your property to effectively monitor income and expenses. Seek advice from a financial advisor to maximise tax advantages linked to owning an investment property, including deductions for bond interest, property taxes, and maintenance costs.

Tenant Relations

Maintaining good relationships with tenants is essential for retention. Respecting their privacy, boundaries, showing appreciation, and addressing concerns promptly all help create a feeling of trust.

Regular Maintenance and Inspections

Implement a schedule for regular maintenance and inspections. This proactive approach helps maintain the property’s condition, prevent major repairs, and ensures tenant retention and lease extensions. Routine inspections not only protect your investment but also show tenants that you care about the property and their well-being.

Strategic Planning

How will this property fit into your long-term investment strategy? You can use your investment property for short or long-term rentals and generate a regular income or you can buy property off-plan and sell it after the value has appreciated.
