Memories Made

If you're brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello. - Paulo Coelho

A

s we enter another month of precautionary measures to tackle the global pandemic, Doha is stepping up its quarantine game so that you can enjoy all your favourite things from the comfort of your home. Doha’s top hotels and restaurants have stepped up to the plate and created some of the most delicious delivery and takeaway menus for Iftar. Tuck into classics as well as more innovative choices and make your selection today (p14). We bring you some hopeful and light-hearted experiences of Life in Quarantine with Doha professionals whose lives have been turned into WFH routines like many of us. Check out what they have to say about living through corona, starting p16. To top that off, we’ve got self-care guides, wellness tips, recipe recommendations, and your monthly fashion, beauty, tech and entertainment fix. May also brings with it a host of new beginnings. After seven incredible years at the helm of this fabulous lifestyle brand, I’ll be passing the reins onto Anushay for all your editorial needs. I would like to first and foremost thank each and every one of you who has picked up a copy of FACT magazine, followed us on social media, entered our competitions, voted in your thousands during our awards campaigns, and supported both myself and FACT throughout this wonderful journey. A quick look back through the years, I’d like to rewind and highlight some of my favourite moments… In 2014, I met and interviewed my high-school crush – the one and only Craig David himself; in 2015, a work trip to Amman allowed me to score my highest number of steps ever reached in a day – thanks to a visit to Petra; in 2016, I really lived the best life travelling all over the region and frequenting many beaches and pools and taking part in cultural and food tours - the Gulf will always have my heart; in 2017, things really started to take off for us and we launched more new editions of FACT; with 2018 came exciting travel opportunities and the once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Maldives; and by 2019, I was making some of life’s most memorable experiences with the most amazing people. 2020? Well, it has a lot to live up to. But, I leave my role with tons of memories and an Apple Cloud account filled with thousands of photos that will make me smile every time I scroll through them. Get ready, because the team is taking things to a whole new level. For one last time, it’s been the best ride, friends. Wishing you all a more hopeful, healthy and happy 2020 going ahead. ☺

CALLING ALL ARTISTS! NMoQ announces open call for mascot design competition in celebration of its one-year anniversary. THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF QATAR (NMoQ) has launched an Open Call for artists and designers, to submit creative designs for the museum’s new mascot. NMoQ has selected the dugong, a large marine mammal that has lived in Qatari waters for over 7,500 years, as its mascot. This initiative is part of the programming around the museum’s upcoming exhibition on dugongs set to open next year in collaboration with ExxonMobil Research Qatar. The Arabian Gulf is home to the second largest population of Dugongs in the world, making them significant to Qatar. These mammals are currently on the World Wildlife Fund’s vulnerable list and raising awareness of them links to the museum’s key themes around sustainability and conservation. The design of the dugong should have a unique concept which symbolizes NMoQ’s identity and relates to Qatari culture, in an aesthetic and appealing manner. The deadline for submitting designs is July 1st and independent 8

MY LIFE IN QUARANTINE… As we step into another month of staying safe and staying home, FACT asked some of Doha’s very own residents to share their experience of living through a global pandemic in 2020… this distancing helped me to rethink deeply of who I am and what I want and set a new normal and priorities in my life. I am certainly sure that each one of us will have a new person inside of him or her after covid-19.

JAMAL WICK Occupation: Managing Director, Katara Beach Club | Katara Cultural Village My life under quarantine is definitely teaching me many things on a personal and professional level. I have passed through many stages; from a first shock and uncertainty, to acceptance, self-motivation and creativity. I am now in a constant state of appreciation for all of what I have, much more grounded and feeling grateful; my loved ones, my health and my most recent creation and venue, BOHO Social. My main tool has been to find a routine that keeps me on track where work/life balance is the centre of my days, physical activity, healthy food, connecting virtually with my family and finding peace within me.

HANAN TABSH Occupation: General Manager, Universal Media The covid-19 outbreak is a human tragedy that suddenly turned our lives ups and down. This pandemic puts hundreds of thousands of people across the world in a circle of fear, uncertainty, isolation and social distancing. Though this disruption created waves of feelings between anxiety and physical distancing but at the same time it lifted social and family bonding and even self-connection. Like every working mum, I am living the same ripples! Yes, I am living this fear, missing my daily routine and busy schedule, missing our lively weekends; yet this “stay home” period has allowed me to enjoy simple moments with my family. It gave me the opportunity to enhance my socialising skills with my daughter and me trying to reach her level of communication, she’s also trying to lighten up my mood by giving us both makeovers, and we’re establishing some inside jokes together that I will always cherish in my heart. Not only that, I also got to refresh some mother-son teaching moments with my younger son, and understanding his way of having fun. This gave me a different perspective of what it is like to live with two kids at home and being able to balance the time and connection with each one separately. This home isolation took me back to my old chats with my mum and some funny childhood moments with my sisters and brother instead of a quick hello while rushing to a meeting. Indeed, I am still missing my busy days and loud environment in the office, however this experience also rushed my conventional mode and routine into a more tech-workspace and force me to look at my business lifestyle from a different perspective. Most importantly, 16

SACHIN KUMAR

ALI ALMOHANNADI

Occupation: F&B Manager, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels I choose healthy living during this quarantine period to have a fit mind and body, waking up at the same time every day, and kicking off with a workout session, followed by a refreshing shower and preparing a healthy breakfast. This routine has benefited me to remain fit, positive and motivate my friends and colleagues to start working out at home. Strength training does not have to mean lifting heavy weights at the gym. You can maintain your strength at home too – all you need is a yoga mat and self-belief. You can do – squats, planks, sit-ups, lunges and push-ups. In addition, favour almond milk than regular milk if you can as it has better health benefits i.e. low in calories and high in vitamin – D & E. I am keeping my mind active by doing 30 minutes meditation a day. Earlier I always complained that I had no time, as Food & Beverage Operations is time consuming and drains energy. The best way to spread positive vibes on social media for me is to post self-reflection on how I interpret each day I live and living it at its best; rather than sharing silly posts or rumours and I watch out for the recommendations from health experts and government bodies to ensure we adhere to precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary stress. Let’s stay home, stay fit and stay safe.

Occupation: CEO and Co-Founder, Kinfolks Co and Venita The quarantine did not affect me much, as I usually spend my time at home. However, on a professional level yes, some things have changed in Kinfolks and Venita the two companies I own, especially with the working from home system. But as an agency that was built to create and innovate. Kinfolks family turned this situation to something positive by creating our creative workspace area at home. Or spending time learning and develop new skills. I advise everyone to stay at home, try to use your time to be creative and productive; this is a perfect time to achieve your goals. Stay safe.

CAYETANA MORET GUAL Occupation: Head of Marketing, Tivoli Group Who said we would die of boredom over quarantine? Not the case for me! Hitting 30 days of #StayAtHome #WorkFromHome and practicing #SocialDistancing – it’s been hectic! Key? Have a routine and stay active. My main daily activities: work, housework, cooking, training and virtual socialising with family and friends. I start the day at 8am with work, 6pm I do my F45 at home training, at 7.30pm is time for meal preparation and by 9pm video-call time and Netflix. At work it has been non-stop as we had to completely adjust Tivoli Furniture’s marketing approach and communication to adapt to the BIG operational change in record time. I like to be efficient so the stretching time over “working hours” I do small house-work tasks to maintain the house clean and tidy. These 30 days have helped to do introspective thinking and realise we must cherish every single moment even more than we did before. fact magazine

SETAREH RAEISI Occupation: Social Media Influencer Ever since quarantine started, I’ve been trying to keep positive. I won’t lie and state it’s been successful everyday but I manage to keep the spirit in my own head and family. Business is a bit slower, however everything has been turned into video communication! On one hand it’s more convenient and on another, sometimes it feels really frustrating because it’s got its own limitations. As for my daily routine, I still try to workout, if not I would make sure I finish the 10000 steps a day. I cook, bake, spend more time with family and managed to change so many things in the house. As an example, I redecorated my bedroom, I stained the window to white, changed the curtains and added some green plants to give a bit of life next to all the white theme I created. Things are not very bad, and I’m just picturing it to good so I don’t give that negative pulse to my mind. Hopefully, all finishes soon and we all go back to normal, safe and sound. Till then, stay home, stay healthy.

SEAN SPINKS Occupation: General Manager, Centara West Bay Residences & Suites Doha At the very beginning, Centara management team acted swiftly and were earliest to introduce a range of safety measures throughout the hotel. Our business strategy has built a “hygiene trust” within the property for our guests and employees to feel comfortable while staying and working here, due to our hygiene processes we implemented and communicated; this has resulted in a sustainable occupancy result. Centara setup a ‘’virtual sales meetings concept’’ for the team to continue to engage and support companies and guests. We now operate a delivery service, takeaway 24/7 and a drive thru food pickup at the hotel with extensive family-style menus tailored for our guests. Social distancing is the daily norm and practiced throughout the property, with limited personal interactions. Use of sanitiser and washing of hands is constant, as is promoting hygiene best practices VDO on all hotel screens and monitors. A greater work-life-balance and fewer businesses emails, has resulted in spending more time with my family, and creating many new pieces of art with my children. As a team, a hotel and a community we will continue to move forward together. 18

DERYA TIKANSAK Occupation: Marketing & Communications Manager, Hilton Doha The Pearl Residences Quarantine has had a big impact on my life as a hotelier and social butterfly who does not like sitting at home. The first days after the closure of the schools, restaurants, public parks and beaches were a shock as this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. However, after the initial reaction, I looked into what can be done to turn the feelings into positivity and I started enjoying my time with my six-year-old son, having long chats with him, walking with him on Lusail Marina (by keeping our social distance with other people of course), keeping an eye on my physical activity and of course cooking for my family, as I usually do not have time to cook. I also discovered a new method of self-care routine to fight the aging on the face; called `Face Yoga’ and started practicing it regularly. One of the best things that quarantine has taught me is actually the ability to live in a slower pace of time, not rushing and taking things cooler and living a less hectic routine. I managed to follow a Netflix series called the Good Girls too, not yet managed to watch a movie but I am sure I will do that soon. On some days I also take my family and drive without a target just for the sake of making a change.

KIRSTY AVRIL JANE WALKER Occupation: English Teacher, Freelance Public Speaker and Copy Editor Has life in Doha been quiet? Traffic? Yes. Social life? No, thriving but strangely online. Work? Well, the proliferation of online conferencing software has moved so much education from the classroom, to the living room. In addition to the meticulous preparation that hosting an online course requires, I’ve also been busy cleaning my living room. As a teacher, it’s been important to stay visible to my students so that they feel connected and keep learning. As a freelancer, it’s been vital to keep my connections going so that when the initial covid tide subsides, I haven’t lost sight of my opportunities. On a personal note, I’ve been recommending lots of free online courses and webinars to my friends and family. Ideally, this is also what I should have been doing. However, you’ll usually find me collapsed in front of Netflix, visibly distressed about how the characters are not social distancing. 20

ELISE ZWEIN Occupation: Country Manager, Action Group Being in quarantine has given me the time to do many things I’ve promised to do in the past – like spending more time with the family and the kids, sorting out the house, taking a little quiet time for myself. It has also given me the change to step up my professional learning – I am taking online courses, taking part in remote brainstorms with my colleagues across the Action network of over 30 countries and inputting into clients’ future communications needs for the new post-covid world. Of course, the pandemic will leave an aftermath for some of grieving, for others it may be a time of economic strain, but certainly there has also been a positive side to the global shutdown which I think will leave us in a different world than the one we lived and worked in before we had even heard of this virus.

AMRIT KAUR Occupation: Senior Project & PR Coordinator, Paradox Events & Marketing Life in quarantine has definitely been the push we all needed to become creative survivors of a new business system. At first, everything was confusing as it would have been for each business during these times but with patience and support, we now feel we are more stable and stronger than we were a month ago. We started working from home on March 16 and changed our strategies and approach for our clients. Most clients were quite stable with existing delivery services and already had a name in the industry thanks to our marketing from before. A few businesses were just diving in, had their launch a week before this started. We had cases where some F&B clients were only dine-in. So, our team switched from our existing plans to linking our clients with delivery services and shifting our marketing and events to solely online with extra focus on positive content to motivate and encourage people through all of this. We reconstructed with focus on turning our clients digital and adapting to the current situation. As for Paradox, we offered free business consultations to businesses who would be struggling adapting to the new business model. We also offered our F&B clients a complimentary month as a gesture of support. We definitely miss our days in the office, seeing our colleagues, meeting our clients but we hope we can return to our normal life soon. Definitely returning more tech savvy than before! 22

MARGARITA MELNIK Occupation: Fashion Stylist This is the time that we deserve. It’s a good push for everyone. The pandemic’s difficult time allows us to look around, to think and start to value and cherish things that we have even more than before because we aren’t ready to lose them. It turns out that now I’m far from my family, I miss them like never before so I spend a lot of time with them online, thanks to technology. I can compare quarantine with buying time for myself. I feel comfortable, I have more aspiration to work and I want to be useful. For many who complained about deficit of time - now it’s enough, it’s time to be creative, create new ideas and realise them after. It’s time and overcome it together. These days we have to share support, joy, love, of course to keep up quarantine measures and being guided by common sense. Also, with this we all successfully help return life to nature. I hope that many of us now understand how important hygiene is. I hope with this huge lesson, people will begin to take care of themselves and follow the easy steps of hygiene. Because the main thing is health – it always has been. Authorities in Qatar took measures to support the population and small business – worthy example when the state shows its concern. The measures that have been taken in Qatar are very high to protect the population. Each of us are responsible for others’ lives due the pandemic. About business, my opinion is that due to this situation weak players don’t survive in business, they lose all hope and leave the market, which is not really bad because by that they are clearing the platform for stronger and better ideas and players. Have you ever thought that life is a big school that teaches you all the time? So maybe this is the time for another good lesson that will allow you to become wiser. Because from each lesson we have to get something useful. Keeping distance today, we give each other the opportunity to be together very soon and unite with our loved ones again.

FRANCISCO DE SOUSA Occupation: Managing Director, Talabat This current situation has given us a big responsibility of distributing food to all those who are following directives and staying at home. Social distancing is a thing that keeps us more connected to our Talabat riders, restaurant partners, government ministries, and our customers. It just made us realise that we are not only doing business but more importantly, we are caring for our community. The Talabat family is going through a thorough realisation of our company goals - experience first, make it happen, and together we grow, in order to support Qatar, the best way we can 24

KAVAL SIDDHU Occupation: PR and Marketing Manager, Crowne Plaza Doha West Bay Quarantine has been an unexpected routine, however, it has given me some time to reconnect with myself again. Whilst in the comfort of working from home, we are privileged to have technology that keeps us connected with our family and loved ones. It has given me time to finally enrol and commence with a few of my bucketlisted online courses, read a few books, and brush up my cooking techniques. A positive from this period for me? A realisation to always make time for self-care during the day. Read a book, cook, workout or just meditate. It’s addictive and pure bliss.

JOANN DEEB Occupation: Director of Marketing & Communications, Dusit Doha Hotel “How are you doing?” A phrase we often use but honestly seldom wait for a genuine answer or even give it a thought to. Nowadays, I use it in my every communication and I sincerely mean it and insist on getting a response. Seems I got an added dose of compassion and empathy with all fellow humans. I always loved to work although overwhelming at times, yet in captivity it is proving to be a liberating force. We’re suddenly no longer slaves to ‘time’ and rushing to get through a long to-do list while we aim for a balanced healthy lifestyle towards ourselves and our family and friends. Although forced, I came to peace with this stillness, using this slowing down to self-reflect, to appreciate my family and friends more, as we share the same emotions and extend daily support to one another, even if virtually with today’s digital technology, the connection, care and knowledge that we are never alone goes a long way. Modern technology and quarantine has allowed me ample time and access to live video calls, to stream tv shows, to cook new recipes, to join e-workouts with hundreds of people across the globe, practice daily breathwork, meditation and yoga with Vishnu, read, learn, shop, connect and catch up all in the comfort and safety of my own home. Let this be a time of reflection to regain our appreciation for the little simple things, be more present, grateful, kind and let life unfold. 26

KHADIJA MEFTAH Occupation: Director of Marketing, The St. Regis Doha It certainly is not business as usual these days due to the covid-19 outbreak. Everyone is encouraged to stay at home and practice social distancing to prevent the virus spreading. However, staying at home is definitely not a good state to be in, and that is why I try to keep myself busy and entertained through different activities. This break has definitely helped me to do things that I did not have time to do before such as daily cooking. Right now, we’re unable to dine out and that is why I took this time to broaden my culinary skills, learn how to cook new dishes and practice some healthy recipes. Also, I try to make the most of my time by practicing some easy and fun exercises daily at home such as yoga and Zumba classes; I follow the steps through Youtube videos. This break has also provided me with the opportunity to reconnect with old friends who live in other countries. We are now connecting almost every day through video calls and social media platforms. And last but not least, reading books that I’ve had for a while now and didn’t have time to start. Finally, I hope that everyone is safe and making the most of their break. #Wewilltravelagain

LARA HUSSEINY Occupation: Public Relations Professional I turned this negative into a positive by taking on activities that I had not had time to do so in my otherwise busy schedule. I started cooking Lebanese dishes that are challenging and consume much time such as stuffed zucchini and grape leaves and eggplant fatteh. I was proud to see the results not to mention I won major points with my husband. I also went back to my hobby of oil painting and completed a canvas for my baby girl’s room. Living in Doha has made it easier because of the tight-knit community. I’m pursuing things which I have kept on hold because of time constrains. Now, with more time and autonomy to schedule my day, I am able to share my knowledge and experience in resume writing and quality assurance training with friends. I’ve been working out every day and I’m amazed at my achievements, I feel incredible! Technology has definitely brought my family closer which is much needed during this challenging time.

During quarantine, I have realised that we are stronger than we think we are, I was able to be a good listener, a cook, a football player, an activity maker, I am entertaining my kids, we are swimming together, listening to good music, dancing, I am working out at least four times a week; I am finally doing one thing at a time for once in my life. Since the lockdown I still feel fairly busy, but it is getting used to not having a structured day and being more organised, otherwise my day runs into no achievement, which does not give me satisfaction. Most of my day is on my phone - and communication is key at this time both for myself and the business, but it is surprising how the days run by so I have to discipline myself. I give myself more time than I used to. I always do my cleansing through meditation and then my 10-minute workout with Mindvalley. We are very lucky to be busy with our deliveries and I like to check on our community, staff and friends regularly. I go for a walk every day and even listen to some podcasts by the pool and have a swim. I feel truly blessed to have so much more time for myself. I love my Mindvalley Quests and have the time and opportunity to grow myself and have some space to feel creative and look at ways we can grow the business and look at areas of improvement too. Zoom has been a wonderful tool to keep us all connected at this time and has enabled us to take more time for ourselves without feeling guilty and get jobs done that we have not prioritised. I have been happy to be able to spend more time with my niece and connect with my family more frequently than I would normally. This is truly a time for reflection and I feel grateful to have been given this opportunity to look at my life and see what value I add to myself personally and what I add to the business and what I do that is of no value at all. WHAT’S IT ABOUT:

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Jack is trying to make sure his sister’s wedding goes off without a hitch, but he has to juggle this mission with the appearance of an angry ex-girlfriend, an uninvited guest that carries a secret, and Dina— a woman that Jack still has feelings for. In the process of getting his own happy ending, Jack is living through alternative versions of the same wedding.

DIRECTOR: Dean Craig CAST: Olivia Munn, Sam Claflin, Freida Pinto, Eleanor Tomlinson, Jack Farthing

WHY IT’S WORTH WATCHING?

Directed and written by Dean Craig and starring Sam Claflin, Olivia Munn, and Freida Pinto, among many others, this romantic comedy is sure to lift your mood for a few hours during quarantine. Sam Claflin plays Jack, a guy who is desperate to make sure his sister Hayley's wedding day goes as smoothly as possible. Of course, that gets tricky when Hayley's ex shows up to declare his love for her. On top of that, Jack also has some personal issues to deal with, including his ex-girlfriend. Love Wedding Repeat is definitely not your typical rom-com as it comes with a strange twist. Similar to the concept of the movie Happy Death Day, Love Wedding Repeat is about living the same day repeatedly until the right lessons have been learned. That being said, you can expect different versions of the same wedding, all with varied outcomes that are equally hilarious and teaching moments.

JUNGLE

A group of friends join a guide for a trek into the heart of the Bolivian jungle, but the adventure quickly becomes an utter nightmare and the men soon realise that the jungle is a difficult place to be.

Velvet: Future Nostalgia

R&B/SOUL

It Is What It Is

By Thundercat

By Dua Lipa

She made her mark in the pop game with her debut in 2017. Three years on, Dua Lipa is not showing any signs of slowing down. With her second album Future Nostalgia she is bringing bold, irresistible hits that bring out your funky side! And even though we are now living in a post-nightclub world, the fusion of disco and ruthlessly efficient contemporary pop is just perfect to dance away your worries in your living room. Highlights include pre-album bangers Don’t Start Now and Physical — songs that tackle empowerment at its finest. The grandiose Boys Will Be Boys is a funk-free flip that tells about what it’s like to be a girl and having to avoid confrontation from men. With lyrics like “…but girls will be women” she empowers again and stands against stereotypical “boy-behaviour”. Giving us feel-good vibes and dance tracks when we need them the most, Future Nostalgia is absolutely the strongest album thus far in Dua Lipa’s musical repertoire.

Bassist extraordinaire Thundercat aka Stephen Bruner returns with more fleet-fingered jams and abstracted musings. With a perfectly matching title It Is What It Is, is about love, loss, and the ups and downs that come with life. Album hit Fair Chance comes close, with its weightless keyboards, gentle drums, and heartbroken hook about loving someone even though they’re not around — and Ty Dolla $ign’s guest spot just adds more feels. How I Feel provides a subtle bass melody, lovely bell plinks, and a magnetic synth line and Funny Thing details the intimate joys of partying with your special one. Sparkling with inventive songwriting, chunky production and pervasive good vibes, but also embracing difference and accepting life’s highs and lows — It Is What It Is is all the melodic joy that we need right now.

A decade ago, five “chosen” teenage heroes defeated an evil villain, known as the Dark One, and saved the human race. Now, the no-longer-teenagers are famous celebrities, but unlike the rest of the world they still recall the days of endless fear and struggle coping with the reality of what it means to be a hero. A new trauma hits the Chosen Ones when they discover that the Dark One never really left.

The Crying Book By Heather Christle Why do we cry? How do we cry? What does it mean? The Crying Book focuses on the rarely examined phenomenon of tears. Touching on the purpose of crying, its implications and even what tears are made of, Heather Christle gives an insight into the power of crying. A book that provides substance for thought.

A MUSICAL LEGACY Gifted with a natural vocal versatility, Naomi Clark is an Italian performer, singer and songwriter, who is making waves in the music industry today.

W

e first heard Naomi Clark perform at an event at the Italian Embassy and were drawn towards her from the get-go. Curiosity got the better deal and we got to know a dynamic singer who had been residing in Qatar for almost a year under the artistic direction of Candela Entertainment Agency. Naomi’s artistic personality is best expressed in her passion for soul music which characterizes and dominates her style in a transversal way “influencing” the other musical genres with which she comes into contact making it so recognizable. Getting To Know Naomi Naomi is a trained student (who had a scholarship on merit) at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (Boston) school. Her interest in performing arts in general expands from music and dance to the world of graphic arts. She owns a Degree in Architecture & Design and she likes to create her own graphic art pieces along with her original music. Naomi’s ‘Great American Experience’, as we call it, saw her collaborate with numerous artists. Lenny Stallworth, Donna Mc Elroy, Paola Cole, Larry Watson, Victor Wooten are some of the names of great performers, writers and singers who have supported Naomi’s dream.

The American experience has given her the chance to collaborate with artists from all over the world in a brilliant international artistic environment. She has worked with US / Brazilian producer Joseph DePaula on the single ‘Neu Soul’ (Hidden Poet) and then “Novos Horizontes”, a sweet lullaby in Portuguese, that was written with the Brazilian author Jopa Velozo. She has also performed in live shows and tours with the Band 51 Soul. #CareerGoals In Doha she had the opportunity to collaborate with Katara Studio, supported by the sound engineer and Grammy winner Matt Howe (London). In July 2019 she sang during the opening act for the international music star DJ MARSHMELLOW. Before moving back to Boston, her career in Qatar came into the light as she exhibited as a resident performer in the most exclusive clubs of the Alfardan Hospitality chain, and for events of important national companies such as Qatar Airways and the Italian Embassy, under the artistic direction of the Candela Entertainment Agency. international productions with the author Toni Verde. Thanks to this collaboration Naomi (with the pseudonym of Crus) published her first EP which includes the single “Victory Theme”, written as an acronym for a Nike event “Il miglio diRoma”, presented live in Piazza del Popolo in May of 2015. She has performed at various live shows and musical events with her Band Black Shiver. Current Work: Today, Naomi is still making waves with an “under construction” project on women’s emancipation told in music called “MUSES”, followed and supported by Elkahir Balla (New York) manager and collaborator with Atlantic record, Sony and Wonderland Record. Hot on The Record Her recent collaboration with the Funky Juice Records and the producer Nicholas Redford (Nicola Di Gia ‘) gives life to their first debut EP and single as a duo “No Rules”, for editor Roberto Colella that was released in March 2020 Redford and Clark met in Rome, while working together for ACV Record directed by the author and composer Toni Verde. Their commitment to working hard is the glue for a constant and lasting collaboration and the world of dance music, the common field in which different musical backgrounds converge. The song was born as a claim of mental freedom in a world that subtly conditions us, making us believe we have full accessibility and expressive freedom, when instead we are increasingly conditioned by the judgment and opinion of others on our actions The music video of the song is shot in Doha (Qatar), directed by Lebanese director Toni Zouein. The idea of the video, in-line with the “no-rules”-concept, is to play around within an uncommon and surrealistic main scenario of an office chair in the middle of a dusty empty area in between the tall skyscrapers of the city. ✤

THE RAMADAN KETO CYCLE

Ramadan is here and as we quarantine-weigh ourselves, eating cleaning and keep fit is all a little bit of a blur. Needless to say, this time has encouraged a few too many ‘cheat’ days and we’ve got the fix for you! GoNuts Qatar’s Afshan, our Keto superhero has a few tips to share... fact magazine

G

oNuts Qatar is the brainchild of Afshan, an expat mum of 4, blogger and an entrepreneur who started her home business of making nut butters ,5 years ago when she couldn’t find affordable healthy snacks for her kids. Afshan is also an advocate of the Keto diet and recommends it to everyone to try it once for themselves. Currently, she is a partner at the Ideal Diet Café for their keto and vegan division. Keto during the month of Ramadan is easier than you would expect. If you have always wanted to lose weight, then there is no better time than the month of Ramadan. The ketogenic diet encourages intermittent fasting and fasting during Ramadan is very similar to it. Interestingly, the diet is not new and has existed for ages but has become popular in recent times making it the most trending diet of 2017. The ketogenic diet was introduced to mimic the concept of fasting by modern physicians to treat epilepsy in the 1920s. Along with the weight loss, you are sure to find added benefits like reduced appetite, increased energy, and mental clarity. Practicing Muslim or not, give healthy fasting a try this Ramadan with these tricks! Plan Your Keto l Plan for the week and prepare keto friendly items you can freeze to break your fast with. Forget your regular samosas and fatayer and think more on the lines of homemade seekh kabab, kofta, almond flour cookies, chicken tikka – we could go on with the options. l One item we would strongly recommend would be making a batch of bone broth that will last you for a week. This is one of the healthiest foods, irrespective of whether you’re on the diet or not due to several benefits it has such as building immunity, fighting inflammation, building muscle to name a few. Suhoor It Right l Start your fast by eating something that releases energy slowly and keeps you full for longer. Eating carbohydrate-rich foods like rice, khutbas & paratha will have you hungry in 2 hours! Eat an omelette prepared in grass-fed ghee from GONUTS or a bulletproof coffee. Other options include “noatmeal” or, the Greek yoghurt chia pudding topped with some berries and peanut butter as the fibre keeps you satiated for a long time. Another meal that should be regular in your household during Suhoor is the low carb paleo granola in a bowl of Greek yogurt or coconut milk. Delicious and satisfying! Of course, all these items are made by GoNuts Qatar and are found at Ideal Diets – did we just give you your Ramadan menu? l Don’t forget your electrolyte of lemon juice in water with a pinch of pink salt. This ensures you don’t get headaches. l Stay hydrated by having around 3 litres of non-sugary fluids, mainly water, during your non fasting hours. The Keto-Iftar Delicacies l Make sure to break your fast gently and not feast the minute you hear the sunset call to prayer. Have a big glass of water and make sure you wait a few minutes before coming back to your delicious but keto friendly meal. If you’re having a date to break your fast, dip it in almond butter, we can vouch for this item from GoNuts! l Avoid sweet drinks like fruit punches, rose syrups, a worldwide favourite, if we dare say! Instead, have an avocado or strawberry milkshake prepared with nut butter, cream, water and some keto-friendly or no sweetener. l You are sure to have observed how most of us tend to put on weight during Ramadan rather than losing it, and it is all because of the senseless indulgences during iftar. Focus on your goal and avoid falling off the wagon. Expert Keto Tips To Last The Fast l Very often you hear people say they feel tired and lethargic the minute 38

they break their fast. This is because of the fried foods that are then either dipped in unhealthy ketchup, sugar syrups and oil. Try having non-carb food - grilled or baked and you’ll be amazed at your energy levels for the rest of the evening. As salt stimulates thirst, we would recommend to not have very spicy or salty foods. l Intermittent fasting has 3 main benefits which are, the reduction of insulin, ketone production and initiation of autophagy, a process for cell renewal. l Don’t forget to work out during your fasting hours. Several studies have proven that muscle gains are heightened when you train in a fasting state. l Have the Precious Golden Paste from GONUTS at least twice a week before fasting to keep your immunity boosted. This is a best seller made of fresh turmeric, ginger, black pepper and coconut oil with a secret ayurvedic recipe. We promise that that following the keto diet during Ramadan will be more fruitful than you know. T

he constant bombardment of news updates can result in increasing fear and anxiety which in turn has immediate effects on our mental health and wellbeing. Mental health awareness is on the rise as we see more people seeking information and advice on how to cope with a sea of mixed emotions. The way we react to stressful situations differs from one person to another, and it is important that we don’t feed our fear and anxiety and shift our mindset and focus on embracing our mental well-being.

FEAR AND CHILDREN This situation is a lot for a child to process and many of them will unfortunately not be taught the skills to help them. Not only to they have to process and cope with the fear of the virus itself there is the disruption of normal activities, the sudden split from friends, and extended family members. These difficulties are profoundly compounded for children who rely on school meals, or whose family members are sickened or facing sudden unemployment.

COPING WITH THE SITUATION If we live in constant fear, whether from physical dangers in our environment or threats we perceive, our mental, emotional and physical health can be affected negatively. Giving attention to the way you think and where you place your thoughts can have a profound improvement on one’s mental health. To cope with fear does not necessarily mean to fight it.

Children can feel particularly helpless and witnessing their parents and society as a whole feeling helpless can affect their sense of security immensely. The fear of the unknown mixed in with the fear of them or their loved ones catching a virus and potentially dying from it is

Becoming aware of your fears, naming them and standing back and observing them (if possible) or/and talking to people about them in a constructive way is very important-particularly at this time. Fear can sweep through communities like a wildfire and rather than fighting it might be more effective to try and take some time out from it or switching your attention on something else for a while. At the same time, we need to understand that it’s pretty normal to feel fear and to be kind to yourself and do things to comfort yourself.

HERE’S SOME ADVICE FROM MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND PARENTING EXPERTS: l Model calmness even if you have to pretend. Children absorb your energy which can be more contagious than the virus. Remaining calm and centered can be the number one act of supporting your child l Establish a flexible routine-structure to help a child feel safe but try not to be too militant about it otherwise it can lose its effectiveness l Be honest about what is happening but don’t tell them

Balance it with what people are doing to overcome this situation and reassure them that they are safe and protected l Be conscious about how much screen time they have and what they are watching/reading. At this time screen time can offer a lot of comfort but ensure they are not having so much of it that they begin to become disconnected from the family. The sense of connection is vital at the moment. l If possible, ensure they have some outside time in their garden or yard. Movement and exercise improve their mental health and can assist in releasing any built-up internal stress. Play and fun is a perfect antidote to stress EVALUATE AND SHIFT YOUR MINDSET I’m sure you are now curious about your own mindset. Remember

that shifting your mindset is the first step towards coping, and to do so I would recommend that you treat your mind the same way you treat your body. Adopt the same basic principles you would give your body to your mind. Give it exercise such as reading, learning new things or playing games. Ensure your brain is hydrated as it is approximately 70% water and requires it to function well. Avoid stimulants and sugar as these are toxic for the brain. Lastly, dedicating time each day-even if it’s just five minutes to quiet your mind. It’s as if you are letting your mind sleep and have a rest which supports it being clearer and sharper. You can do this with simple guided meditations, listen to a beautiful piece of music or breathing exercise. Whatever method you choose the aim is to quieten your mind. This over most things can help your mental and emotional health considerably. ✤

FOR A SMART & STYLISH LIFESTYLE

The Fitbit Versa 2 Special Edition is not only a perfect fitness tracker, but also comes with some crazy-good smartwatch perks. FACT tests it out…

F

itbit has refined its best-selling smartwatch, Fitbit Versa, into a much-improved Versa 2, and here is the difference: while health and activity tracking takes centre stage, the next generation-wearable comes with some amazing extra perks. One important feature Fitbit has added to the Versa 2 is an always-on display option — now you can just glance to see what you need during workouts or when your hands are full. Talking about the screen, another major improvement worth mentioning is the new Amoled touchscreen, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The Amoled screen is designed to increase the function of brightness contrast on the interface, making it easier to navigate. Fitbit also enables an excellent battery life, up to five days with standard use, extending your enjoyment to the fullest. We’ve been using ours during quarantine to keep track of at-home fitness, and all of these incredible features have been a real bonus. An improved lightweight design is another perk. The smartwatch feels solid, lightweight, and well-crafted, while the silicone band that is included hugs the wrist too, making the Versa 2 really comfortable to wear. For next-level convenience, Fitbit’s new model debuts an on-device microphone, which enables voiceto-text. Get on-screen answers to your questions and more with Amazon’s Alexa. Built-in Spotify also elevates your day and allows you to listen to your favourite playlists and podcasts while you’re on a run or working out. Talking about workouts, another noticeable upgrade is the new precision-crafted swimproof design— water-resistant up to 50 meters, so you can wear the Versa 2 in the shower, pool and any body of water – let’s hope we can make use of that feature in the summer! Furthermore, the Versa 2 includes innovative sleep features like Sleep Score and Smart Wake. Based on your heart rate, time asleep, and restlessness, Sleep Score helps you to understand your sleep quality each night. Smart Wake on the other hand tracks the quality of your sleep and determines the best time for you to wake up. If you’re someone who wants to tidy up your daily routine and sleeping pattern, the Fitbit Versa 2 can help you do just that. From navigating between pages to launching and closing apps, thanks to a new processor under the hood, the Versa 2 is coupled with even faster performance than its predecessor. Another perk we want to mention is the smartwatch’s Fitbit Pay option. After adding up to six credit or debit cards on your Versa 2 watch, you can simply purchase from your wrist. Tap and pay at millions of stores around the globe — no phone or wallet needed. When it comes to design, at first glance, the next generationwearable looks strikingly similar to its forerunner, but a closer

look reveals the differences. The “squircle” design that resembles the original Versa is something Fitbit has carried on to its Versa 2, but contrary to the original version, the new watch comes with a larger display area and a premium aluminium finish. Where the original Versa had three buttons on the chassis (two on the left and one on the right), the Versa 2 has just a single button on the left, which serves as both the select and the back button. That being said, you’re never more than a press or two away from the feature you want to access, while any other navigation you need to perform is done via the touchscreen. Fitbit’s new Versa 2 is available in black with a carbon case, petal with a copper rose aluminum case, and stone with a mist grey case. Packed with advanced health, fitness and smart features to elevate your entire lifestyle, Versa 2 is the 24/7 go-to and helping hand that we all need! ✤

Exercise is only one part of getting fitter, so 8fit gives nutrition an equally important role and teaches you how to follow a healthy diet and what to have in your pantry. Enjoy customised meal plans— whether vegan, paleo, or pescatarian — 8fit got you covered. The only fitness app you need.

Plant Nanny combines health with fun to remind you to drink water regularly. How? When you download the app, you input some personal information like your height, weight, physical activity level etc. Then you pick out a plant, and the game begins. Plant Nanny now tells you how many cups of water you have to drink per day and sends you occasional push notifications to remind you. For every cup of water you drink, you tap the little circle in the bottom right hand corner. This way you keep your plant happy, and most important, you keep yourself hydrated.

YOU’RE MY SKIN SHINE

Since we have all the time on our hands, we’re making full use of it! Self-care is on top of the list and we turned to Maria Ali of MariasInstaGlam to give us a few tips to keep the skin fresh during this time. fact magazine

• SPA & WELLNESS

W

hile we’re all stuck indoors, or shall I say “safe indoors” and wondering how Carole got away with feeding her husband to the tigers, let’s talk a little about taking care of our skin. Being indoors and in the AC all the time isn’t doing your skin any favors. Is there a better time to give a few easy DIY face masks with products you probably have in your pantry – or even better, try some new products to see what works best for your skin! The one thing I’ve noticed over time is that if you have honey lying around at home, you’re good to go as far as DIY face masks are concerned. HONEY MASKS l One of the most problematic skin issue that is popping up, literally, is that acne prone skin is starting to react. You can rely on a super simple DIY antioxidant rich face mask which also has antibacterial properties. All you need is 1 tablespoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric. Mix it into a paste and apply it on your skin for 20 mins to soothe that inflammation. l Another easy-to-find product at home would be bananas which have amazing exfoliating properties that help clear the skin off oil and dirt that can cause black heads and acne. Mash up a ripe banana and mix in some honey to create a thick paste. Apply it on your face and wash off with cold water after 15-20 mins. GLOW-TASTIC l No matter what kind of skin you have, everyone wants to get their glow on! This little DIY face mask will give you that amazing lit-from-within look. Just get yourself 1/2 tablespoon of lemon, 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon manuka honey, and 1 teaspoon of fine salt. Mix and apply it on your face while massaging in circular motions. Leave it on for 10 mins and remove with a warm wet towel before washing your face – voila! HYDRATE TO REFRESH l You would think that staying indoors means cleaner air, less contact with pollution and therefore better skin. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works! Staying indoors can dehydrate your skin and make it look dull and tired. This simple face mask comes highly recommended by our favorite Instagram blog Dinzsister where Rima Zahran shares some fantastic tips. This mask is quick to make, works to soothe dryness and eczema, and is even safe to use on your kids! All you need is 2 tablespoons of oats and brewed chamomile tea (you can use a chamomile tea bag). Grind the oats so they have a powdery consistency 58

fact magazine

and mix in the chamomile tea a little bit at a time (make sure you let it cool down before mixing it in). Your mixture should have a thick porridge like consistency. Leave it to dry on your face for 20 mins and remove using a moist towel. OIL-FREE SKINCARE l This easy face mask will help lift those impurities, clean those pores and control that oil! Blend together 2 egg whites, 1/2 cucumber and some mint leaves. Apply the mixture to your face and wash off after 10 mins with cold water. *BONUS TIP* If the makeup guru Huda Kattan swear by it, we are going to follow it blindly. Bananas have a ton of anti-inflammatory properties and the peal can help remove toxins and clear bacterial infections that cause acne. This easy anti-scarring and anti-acne mask requires you to cut the peal into squares big enough to cover your acne or scar with a scissor. Rub the inside of the peel in circular motions over your pimple / scar and leave it there for 10 mins. Remove and wash your face with cold water. OVER THE COUNTER FACE MASKS If you’re not big on DIY’s and just want a ready-made miracle, try one of these brilliant face masks to get your skin on-point for when you can be wild and free again. l My all-time favorite mask to combat dehydration and dryness is the Glam Glow Me (@glamglowme) ThirstyMud mask. You literally cannot go wrong with this one. I leave it on for hours while I do chores around the house and come out looking like a glow-queen. l Another favorite to get that glow back and get that baby soft skin is the Charlotte Tilbury Skin Clay mask Unlike most other clay masks, this one doesn’t dry your skin out at all making it perfect for dry skin. ✤

DIVINE FOOD INTERVENTION Encouraging a safe and intimate celebration with friends and family in the comfort of our home, we have been spoiling ourselves rotten with the exceptional deals in town. When we speak of fine dining, you simply cannot ignore the king of the ring; The Ritz-Carlton Doha had us drooling in no time.

P

erfection is a word that we always use with The Ritz-Carlton because of their incomparable standards. Whether it is about their dining, their rooms or their spa, hospitality knows no boundaries with this hotel. Naturally, when we got to know about their Iftar deals, we booked ourselves a treat. The culinary experts at The Ritz-Carlton Doha have curated an array of classic Arabic and International flavours as the hotel boasts of positivity by being in high spirits to celebrate this Holy Month. We got the chance to indulge in a bountiful selection of trimmings and condiments, and delivery could not have been made in a fancier manner. Beige boxes with golden design on it and the Ritz-Carlton’s logo shining in the centre instantly gives you the luxurious feel of the 5-star hotel. expect such a monumental feast! With boxes of delicacies lining up on the counter, we needed a bigger table to lay it all out. Instead of just a few pieces of traditional mezze and salads, we were spoiled for choice, out of which the stuffed vine leaved gave us the zing along with the incredibly tangy fattoush. I mean, if you’re craving for something all day, you’ve got to dig into it before everyone else gets to it, right? The main course had us in a trance; options and more options! We did what we deemed to be the best – took a piece of all the meat. The juicy grilled BBQ was marinated to perfection with its multifarious blend of different ingredients that all came together and danced with our taste buds with every bite. Winning us over, the succulent hammour was deliciously grilled and sautéed in harra sauce, which when paired with the flavourful rice reminded us why we have always been a fan of the food served at the hotel. The sweet tooth section, that was aptly named, gave us the energy and fuel that we had been wanting all day. Trust us, when you’re fasting in quarantine and Instagram in your best friend, you should not be following a bunch of dessert pages and recipes! From a tray full of traditional Turkish sweets dipped in sweet syrup and perfected by the honey dressing, to our rich and frothy favourite Umm Ali with its warm milk, they definitely had something for everyone. Giving us all types of healthy and vegetarian options throughout the menu, the iftar box had sliced fruits in it as well. With an experience like the one that The Ritz-Carlton Doha gave us at home, we are finally at ease about one thing for sure; we’re quarantining in luxury with a true food connoisseur at our disposal. ✤

A FEAST AT HOME Ramadan and the blessings that it brings will always be special to us. To kick off this month, we delved into some scrumptious food by Centara West Bay Residences & Suites Doha.

W

e’re all in a state where we’re making the best of this situation. And while some days are a bit confusing as there is so much time on our hands, we were actually looking forward to Ramadan. The fact that there was going to be a routine because of the Suhoor and Iftar timings, prepping for Ramadan was all about being grateful for the good things in life. Given our love for food, you know we’re always on top of things when it comes to the best deals in town. We began our Ramadan by breaking the first fast with our traditional homemade dishes but our love for the goods around town got the best of us and we planned our second Iftar the

same time we were breaking our first fast – it’s always good to be prepared (and dream about food too, right?). On the hunt for deals since a month now, we came across Centara’s Ramadan offer and booked it in for the second Iftar. As this is the first time we’re all fasting in quarantine, we have to admit that we were a bit worried about how they were going to manage the timings as the entire city is ordering everything at home. To stay on the safe side, we asked them to drop the food an hour before the sun set. At exactly 5pm, the phone rang to tell us the delivery was here. Oh.my.goodnes! The perfect timing for a memorable Iftar. Okay so now reality set in; oh yes, they’re good at this but we ordered food an hour before the sun set which meant that we were going to have it a bit cold – a compromise that our microwave oven was okay with. Once we started opening our three bags, we were not expecting everything to still be warm a good 45 minutes later. The process of setting up the table was like opening matryoshka dolls! Honestly, we forgot the number of boxes as we started to take in the scent of the butter chicken and that was just the beginning of our mouth-watering treats. The three-course meal, a combination of Iftar and dinner, consisted of Indian and Middle-Eastern delicacies that included hummus, tabbouleh, and fattoush to name but a few, gave us the feel of having a local Iftar at home, a tradition we have fallen in love with over the years. That’s the thing about expat life, you fall in love with the local culture to the extent that a Ramadan at home has to have an Arabic flair to it! To make things better with a touch of Indian culture, we enjoyed the seafood twist to the regular biryani – rice tastes the best at Iftar! The ever-favourite butter chicken had us in a fix; to rice or to chapati it? The lamb fest had us on a roller coaster of all levels of spices; starting from the soup then moving on to the curry and then the good ol’ biryani – enticing enough for second rounds. The amount of food that we indulged in had us in a food coma and by the time we came back to life, the desserts were calling our name! The nutty and sweet traditional Indian desserts, ras gullah and gulab jaman dipped in intensely sweet juice with edible rose petals in it; divine! We laughed as we fine dined in our pyjamas because life really has taken a new turn and we’re celebrating with the best. The Iftar came at a reasonable price of QR149 for two with lavish family-style sharing which obviously means one thing; we’re going to be ordering a round two sometime soon! ✤

A DATE WITH RUBY WU’S Lets admit it, we’ve been doing our best to stay positive and some days are better than others. When the tougher days get to us, all we need is some food to comfort us during this time. We knew exactly what we wanted and Radisson Blu Hotel Doha rose up to the challenge.

W

e know it, you know it and Radisson Blu Hotel knows it; we’ve got a real soft touch for this place. Forever in love with the homey vibe and the culinary options this hotel offers, it was only time before we got the best of the deals that Ruby Wu’s offered us. When life puts you in quarantine, you always reach out for the comfort we all miss. In our case, it is good food that makes us forget the outside for now. And if we speak of Asian food, there is no other like Ruby Wu’s. Affordable, delicious and stamped with our name on it. We chose to pick up the food (who doesn’t crave human interaction right now) and went to Radisson Blu Hotel Doha with all precautions taken. The social distancing life was a reality and the entire staff at the hotel was extra cautious. We went in to get our food and saw the team taking the necessary measures as they prepared the food. Within 10 minutes, we got our bags and that’s when the hunger pangs began. Ohh the sweet aroma of the goods was a treat in itself. It was almost like the food was packed with love because they just knew that this was going to be the silver lining of the day. Munching on the savouries, we began to unpack. Every bite of the vegetable rolls was like those advertisements you see on TV; loud enough for the person next to you to hear, the juice of the vegetables inside dripping from the perfectly fried skin. The first taste of love can never be forgotten. The assortments on our table were probably a culmination of the best items on the menu at Ruby Wu’s. Our senses gave in to the glorious aroma before we even tasted it; the peppery taste of the seasoning on the stir friend tenderloins added to the taste sensation. The well-seasoned king prawns in the tangy soya sauce made it a dish that we went back to again and again – seafood is slowly becoming the ultimate favourite at our office! Adding a ‘traditional’ Chinese taste to our table, the egg fried rice was flavourful enough to be gobbled alone. The dish that stood out for us this time around

74

fact magazine

would have to be the incredible stir fried chicken with pineapple and sweet and sour sauce. The pineapple, that we usually do not appreciate in any circumstances gave the dish an edge over the other food items that we tasted. The juicy sweet and sour sauce made the dish even tastier, giving it the ultimate unique flavour. Here’s a word of advice to everyone out there; if you’re looking for the ultimate comfort food, just give Ruby Wu’s a call. It’ll be good to have someone else pamper you with their cooking and its our promise you won’t be disappointed! ✤

INGREDIENTS FOR MARINATED CAULIFLOWER Cauliflower 1 whole Coriander seeds 1 tbsp Black loomi (or 1 tbsp of loomi powder)2 Lemon – zest and juice 1 Pinch of sea salt Garlic crushed 3 cloves Chili flakes 1 pinch Tahini 3 tbsp Sunflower seeds 1 tbsp Loomi syrup 1 tbsp Sesame seeds 1 tbsp Salad Fresh mint 1 handful Seeds of 1 x Pomegranate Red Chili 1 Juice from 1 lemon Salad greens or micro herbs such as coriander and arugula Salad Dressing Olive oil Sea salt Black pepper Juice from 1 lemon

PREPARATION l Cut some large slices – which should look like flat steaks – from your cauliflower, the number of slices you get will depend on the size of the cauliflower. marinade.

l For the marinade use a pestle and mortar (if you don’t have one use a zip lock bag) to crush together the coriander seeds and the inside part of the dried loomi. Now add the sumac, chilli flakes (adjusted to your taste), rock salt (be generous) and crush and mix again. l Transfer these spices to a bigger bowl and add the crushed garlic, zest of one lemon, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and also the wet ingredients: the loomi syrup and tahini. Mix all these ingredients together. This should have a sauce consistency, so if your marinade feels too thick add a little water – though not too much you don’t want it to become thin. Also add lemon juice make sure the pips don’t go into the mix. l Use this mix to coat your cauliflower on both sides. Put this in the oven at 175 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn the cauliflower halfway through. l While this is in the oven, prepare your salad. Grab a grater and using the largest grate side, start grating your cauliflower trimmings so they become fine into a large bowl. Add roughly chopped fresh mint, micro greens or baby arugula salad, chopped red chilli, and all the pomegranate seeds with the juice. Mix well.

l Now it’s time to season the salad with lemon juice, virgin olive oil, sea salt and black pepper. Mix this together to coat the ingredients. l Once the cauliflower is ready, put a little salad on a plate to create a bed, place a slice of roasted cauliflower on top and add more salad to the top.
