Doha is gearing up for the third edition of the Qatar International Boat Show 2015, which promises to be the biggest and best yet!
Follow I ng the resounding success of the second edition of the Qatar International Boat Show in 2014, QIBS 2015 will be held from 10-14 November in Mourjan Marinas – Lusail City, under the auspices of H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Naser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister of the State of Qatar.
With over 90 exhibitors and 75 boats on show, last year’s event proved to be a success well beyond everyone’s expectations. The number of visitors rose by 14% from 10,500 in 2013 to over 12,000 in 2014, and the 2015 event is projected to exceed expectations once again.
In addition, for this year, QIBS 2015 has been granted the status of “UFI Approved Event”, making it the first ever approved event to be held in Qatar as a member of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. At the same time, Snowcomms – the organisers of the Qatar International Boat Show – has been approved as a full member of UFI in the category of “Exhibition Organisers”.
The 90-year-old Union of International Fairs (UFI) is the world’s leading association of trade fair organizers that aims to serve the world’s exhibition industry and promote the unique value of trade fairs. It was originally set up to develop cooperation among European international trade fairs in order to revitalise international commerce after World War I.
With the Middle East marine market growing rapidly, the Qatar International Boat Show serves as an ideal maritime industry networking platform and a key business driver for the marine sector, boosting the regional marine industry. Within the marine sector, a series of projects that will offer hundreds of new berths and support services for all boating enthusiasts are currently under development. Banana Island, an enchanting Doha Island Resort boasting its own marina and reefs is already open and attracting boating devotees. Furthermore, new marinas, long awaited yacht clubs, the transformation of the old port, Salwa Beach Resort, the expansion of Lusail City are all under construction and preparations to cover the maritime needs of the FIFA World Cup 2022 are in full force.
