The Pearl-Qatar is well established as one of the most prestigious addresses in Doha, offering a glamorous combination of luxury accommodation and waterfront living.

lyIng at the heart of The Pearl-Qatar are the marinas, operated by Ronáutica Middle East. There are two separate locations for boat owners in the development, Porto Arabia and Costa Malaz, between them offering almost a thousand berthing spaces!

Porto arabia

The most visible of the two is Porto Arabia, nestled as it is in the centre of the luxury retail and dining areas, and forming a beautiful vista for the residential towers and townhouses that surround the moorings.

Porto Arabia is actually a collection of six individual marinas with berthing capacity upwards of 780 boats and yachts ranging from 20ft day boats to 60m super yachts. The last year has seen excellent growth in the numbers of new berthing applications, so much so that Ronáutica will soon open the sixth and final stage of this development to handle the demand.

Ronáutica also recently opened the public fuel berth at the entrance to Porto Arabia.

Costa Malaz

In addition to Porto Arabia, Ronáutica operates the marina at Costa Malaz on the North of the island adjacent to the amazing Venice-themed Qanat Qartier. A quieter and more discrete marina, Costa Malaz appeals to those wishing to have quick and direct access to the waters north of Doha.

Each marina has the benefit of secure entrance gates, wide and strong concrete pontoons, 24-hour dock attendant service, large berth sizes, individual pedestal service for power and water at every berth, black water pump-out, and in super yacht areas there is internet access.

A Centre of Marine Leisure

The growth in demand for berths on The Pearl –Qatar is buoyed by the quality facilities offered by the marinas along with their proximity to a wide range of restaurants, shopping and retail services.

It is also thanks to the marinas receiving a number of accolades, including the prestigious 5 Gold Anchors from the Yacht Harbour Association, and the International Council of Marine Industry Association’s (ICOMIA) Clean Marina standard. However, it’s perhaps the impressive range of leisure activities now available at the marinas that is the biggest draw. These include: rYa Training

Ronáutica has partnered with two locally-based Royal Yachting Association accredited sea schools to offer a wide range of RYA courses to marina clients, yacht crew and Doha residents. Courses are held in the comfortable board room of the Harbour Masters Office with practical skills performed in the waters surrounding the Pearl. They are fast becoming the certificate everyone wants, and will possibly also need in the future.

A new service introduced this season is the ‘Captains Table’ food delivery menu. In conjunction with their sister company HDC, Ronautica offers fresh food delivery, direct to your yacht from a menu covering simple but tasty picnic baskets, beautiful cocktail food or gourmet Arabic mezzeh. The menu can be booked through the Harbour Office and delivered to the marina ready for your trip or to eat at your berth, perfect.

Ronáutica Middle East boasts a varied and beautiful fleet available for charter, with a selection of luxurious yachts from 32 to 85 feet, including a 47’, a 50’ and an 85’ Azimut, a Meridian 391, a pair of powerful Deep Impact 36 boats, and a Boston Whaler Outrage 320 fishing boat.

In addition to this there are electric powered and environmentally friendly water shuttles used for trips around Porto Arabia or for more private tours. A brand new service, the first of its kind in Qatar, has begun recently with a classic, newly renovated dhow.

WaTer SPorTS

The safe and calm marinas are also home to a number of water sports companies, offering stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking. Both can be enjoyed by beginners, enthusiasts or advanced paddlers alike as part of professionally organised groups. The marinas also offer secure storage for private owners of paddle craft in a number of areas. In addition, soon to be unveiled is a dive boat company, offering trips to the many offshore dive sites that only local divers know about, and wake sports such as water skiing, wake boarding and speedy towables will soon be making a welcome return to the Pearl in the form of brand new, industry leading Epic branded tow boats.
