Craig is the Administrative Director of the UCSF Kanbar Center for Simulation and Clinical Skills. He works closely with the Education Director for the Kanbar Center, and leads the administrative team. Craig joined during the pandemic and sheparded the Center through a challenging time without administrative leadership. Craig worked with his team to meet demands in pandemic conditions, which included raising staff morale, undexpected staff shortages, and technical failures of essential equipment. At the same time, Craig was able to learn the intricacies of a new job at a new institution and inspire his team move beyond surfuce operations to full capacity, using collaboration and compassion. Since this initial difficult year, Craig has rebuilt the team by restructuring the organization of the unit and hiring several new key team members. His leadership has created positive change for the unit: in the spring 2023, the Kanbar team had the highest Gallup ratings of any medical education unit at UCSF, and the greatest improvement in scores since the year prior! Nominators cite, "the positive team spirit shines through in everything, the overall quality of the work, the collaborative atmosphere in the Center, the interest and motivation to innovate programs and improve operations"

The UCSF School of Medicine Bridges Curriculum Clinical Microsystems Clerkship (CMC) Staff Team [Kristin Casey Callaghan, Therese Denoga, Jocelyn Faye, Anna Kozas, Patience Kriedt and Patricia Runquist] is responsible for operationalizing the most innovative and advanced integrated health systems and clinical skills curriculum for early medical students in the U.S., and globally. Integrating direct patient care, health systems improvement, and interprofessional collaboration, the longitudinal CMC curriculum is complex: success of the program requires a team with a breadth of skill and knowledge. In collaboration with the extraordinary CMC Faculty Leadership Team, the CMC Staff Team operationalizes, implements and continuously improves this longitudinal curriculum which spans two student classes simultaneously. Delivery of the curriculum includes engagement with over 320 students, over 55 physician coaches, hundreds of standardized patients and volunteer faculty at private and non-UCSF medical practices across the San Francisco Bay Area. There nominators praise this group for their teamwork and focus on the UCSF education mission, and cite, "Having worked with this team for the past six years, we believe that this staff team is the most high-functioning team in medical education that we have ever seen. They serve as a model for teamwork and service...They celebrate the diversity in multiple domains among team members and support each other seamlessly to accomplish the broader program goals together."
