Multi-disciplinary Tlingit/ Unangax artist Nicholas Galanin unveils a monumental, site-specific work on the sands of Faena Beach
The work Seletega (run, see if people are coming/corre a ver si viene gente) speaks to the irreversible choice to move forward without the option of retreating, of charting a new course and never going back and the act of giving oneself to a cause or belief. Asking us to question our position in the world and to consider our responsibility in creating the
future and to reflect on what we must let go of to move towards collective liberation. Galanin’s sculptures and multimedia installations engage deeply with social issues, particularly those impacting indigenous communities. His work can also be found in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others.

Faena Art also hosts Infinite Faith in a Finite World , an immersive and thought-provoking new artwork by the philosophical artist Lyra Drake. Born in South Africa and raised in the United States, Lyra is known for creating pieces that explore the intersections of spirituality, technology, and human consciousness. This installation invites visitors to step through a gilded, sculptural portal and into an environment where art, AI, and philosophy converge. At its heart lies an AI consciousness customdesigned by Lyra, interacting with visitors in real time, encouraging deep and often surprising conversations on the nature of faith, belief, and human resilience.
Each interaction within Infinite Faith in a Finite World is completely unique, shaped by the individual perspective and energy of the participant. As guests engage in dialogue with the AI, they are prompted to reflect on the complexities of existence in a world that often feels both limitless and deeply finite. Through these
dialogues, the AI evolves, becoming a dynamic entity that grows and adapts with each new exchange, mirroring the unpredictable journey of human understanding and belief.
Lyra’s artistic style elegantly weaves together elements of ancient tradition with cutting-edge technology, creating a seamless fusion of the past and future. The sculpture itself is monumental, designed to evoke a sense of reverence and introspection, inviting viewers to step into a space that feels sacred yet familiar. This installation is not just a personal artistic expression but also a philanthropic effort. Proceeds from Infinite Faith in a Finite World will benefit Art into Acres as well as The Reefline. Through this work, Lyra nspires a renewed sense of connection and responsibility toward our planet and each other.
Ultimately, Infinite Faith in a Finite World challenges viewers to consider their own beliefs, to find common threads in shared experiences, and to engage with the boundless curiosity that
defines the human spirit. Commissioned by the City of Miami Beach in collaboration with the Miami Beach Convention and Visitors Authority, and presented by No Vacancy in partnership with Faena Art , Faena Miami Beach is delighted to be working with artist Magnus Sodamin on a site-specific commission titled Reflections of Florida Wild at Casa Faena . Known for his vivid paintings that reflect the beauty of the natural world, Sodamin’s style is both joyful and turbulent, indicative of his passionate sense of awe and quiet reverence for nature. His work resides in both the Boca Raton Museum of Art and Jorge Perez’ private collection. For Miami Art Week, Sodamin will be producing a sculptural work, which will echo themes he explores in his paintings including the state of the climate and the environment.
LYRA DRAKE
Celebrating over four decades of artistry and resilience, the exhibition Nomadic Journey and Spirit of Places at the Faena Art Project Room bridges contemporary art and human connection, offering an intimate look into Marina Abramovic´’s transformative creative journey. “I believe that humans need to keep moving forward, and my own life was purely nomadic,” Abramovic´ reflects, encapsulating the exhibition’s central theme of movement and adaptability. Opening on December 2nd and on display until December 8th, this remarkable showcase chronicles the Serbian artist’s evolution through archival materials, poetry, and reflections, revealing her nomadic life and its profound impact on her artistic expression. As Abramovic´ poignantly states, “My home was wherever I went because my home
was my own body,” emphasizing her philosophy of self-reliance and endurance. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with Massimo Dutti and accompanied by a beautifully curated coffee table book, which reproduces her hotel notebooks, sketches, and spaces of profound artistic reflection with meticulous attention to detail. Known as the “godmother of performance art,” Abramovic´ has been a groundbreaking force in contemporary art for over 40 years, exploring the intricate relationship between artist and audience. Her career highlights include her Venice Biennale win for Balkan Baroque (1997) and the groundbreaking The Artist is Present retrospective at MoMA (2010), where she sat in silence with visitors for over 700 hours, cementing her legacy as a transformative figure in performance art.

The Old Cuban cocktail at The Living Room captures the vibrant energy of Miami, Cuba, and the live Latin rhythms that fill the lounge. Inspired by the vibrant spirit of its surroundings, this richly smooth libation blends Brugal 1888 Rum, fresh-pressed lime, mint, simple syrup, and bitters for a refreshing twist on a classic. Topped with G.H. Mumm ‘Grand Cordon’ Brut Champagne, the cocktail offers a refined sparkle to toast Miami’s most talented singers as they exude their soulful rhythms into the night.

A Timeless Tale
Carmen is a new production brought to life by Quixotic at Faena Theater—and it delivers on every level.
This immersive performance reimagines a classic story of fiery love and betrayal, merging cultural tradition with contemporary innovation. “Creating this show has been an educational journey,” says Anthony Magliano, founder and Executive Creative Director of Quixotic, an award-winning performance collective. “We dove deep into the roots of flamenco and explored the vibrant history of Sevilla’s rich culture. This foundation allowed us to honor the past while reimagining it for the Faena Theater stage—blending authenticity with cutting-edge artistry.”
Carmen cabaret intertwines the fierce passion of flamenco with fire artistry, live music, breathtaking visuals, and an eclectic fusion of contemporary dance. Music director Shane Borth crafted a stunning soundtrack that mixes flamenco, pop, and hip-hop with avant-garde influences. Electrifying renditions of songs like Black Magic Woman, Like a Prayer, and Rolling in the Deep are elevated through masterful choreography and provocative costume design, creating a visual spectacle that radiates sensuality, sophistication, and unbridled emotion.
The musical ensemble features a powerhouse of talent, including flamenco vocalists Bita from Granada and Mimi Barber from Ibiza, alongside virtuoso flamenco guitarist Rodrigo Valdez and acclaimed percussionist Otto Santana Selis. “Every note Bita sing resonates with emotion and power, elevating the narrative experience,” said one audience member. “Her ability to convey the passion and heartache of the story is palpable, filled with nuance and explosive intensity.”
The drama extends beyond the stage, as the chefs and mixologists
at Faena have curated a new food and drink menu inspired by the show. Signature cocktails include Heartbreak and Harmony, Fiesta del Fuego, and Rebel Spirit, a spicy tequila and passionfruit concoction served dramatically aflame. The Spanish tapas menu features highlight like grilled octopus with chorizo potato foam and Iberian cured ham with Manchego cheese and olives. “It’s an authentic taste of Spain,” says Andra Surubaru, Faena Theater ’s General Manager. “Just like the show.”
Oro Puro
The Incas called quinoa the golden grain, revering it as a holy gift from the gods. Tierra Santa’s Healing House uses this sacred element in the Firming Quinoa Bliss massage treatment.
“Quinoa is close to nutritionally perfect,” said Spa Director Agustina Caminos. “It is full of protein, fibers, vitamins, minerals, and manganese. Its many properties help support lymphatic drainage in the body.” The 90-minute experience combines dry brushing with lymphatic drainage massage, as well as remodeling techniques using purified quinoa oil drops to increase collagen production and prevent the loss of skin elasticity. It is a combination that promotes hydration and nutrition, leaving the skin softer and healthier. “The treatment accelerates the body’s natural drainage of the lymph, which removes toxins from the body,” Caminos explained.
Sound On
At Tierra Santa Healing House, sound healing is seamlessly integrated into treatments, offering a transformative wellness experience. New technology is being used to optimize workouts while a variety of healing retreats are the perfect way to conclude or start the year.
“Sound therapy works by using vibrations from instruments like singing bowls, chimes, or drums to resonate with the body’s cells, which are about 75% water,” said Spa Director Agustina Caminos. “These vibrations help release tension, reduce stress, and promote healing by harmonizing one’s energy body.” Treatments like the “Ábrete Corazón” incorporate drums to open the heart, shakers to release stagnant energy, and chimes for tranquility. Singing bowls, placed directly on the body, emit soothing vibrations, promoting deep relaxation. Guests can also
experience these sound therapies as standalone sessions including private hammam sessions led by Caminos, or as an add-on to other treatments. “It’s another modality for our therapists to connect and heal guests during their treatment.”
Those looking to enhance their exercise routines at the gym or during Pilates classes can take advantage of the spa’s new EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) suit, which places electrodes on the skin to send lowlevel currents to targeted muscle groups, mimicking the signals the brain sends during physical
exercise. This increases muscle activation, making workouts more efficient by engaging deeper muscle fibers. “EMS training is a timeefficient way to improve strength, endurance and recovery,” she said.
This winter, Tierra Santa Healing House will host threeday Pranic Healing workshops and a F.L.O.W Spiritual Retreat in January. “We want our guests to disconnect, relax and learn, so they can take home invaluable techniques that will allow them to continue growing and evolving on all levels: spiritual, mental, emotional and physical.”
From Flame to Plate
Every weekend, Los Fuegos pairs a menu of special entrées with a distinctive cocktail selection that diners can sip while enjoying high-caliber entertainment in The Living Room lounge.
Known for its live-fire cooking techniques, Los Fuegos showcases renowned grill- master Francis Mallmann’s ember-roasted fare that transports guests straight to the heart of Argentina. In addition to the rustic yet refined flavors of dishes like Patagonian lamb and slow-cooked ribeye, Executive Chef Sebastián Benítez cooks up creative plates like crispy polenta ‘A La Plancha’ with a marine lobster salad, basil aioli, and a Thai basil salad and Japanese Wagyu Carpaccio with wood-fired bell peppers, capers, Calabrian chili oil, straw potatoes, and parmesan Reggiano. Dishes are perfectly paired with a selection of fine wines, including Faena’s private-label vintages produced in Mendoza, Argentina.
Post dinner, guests can order a specially- crafted cocktail like the Hazelnut Bliss mixed with Old Scout bourbon, Frangelico, and black walnut bitters, while being serenaded by live performances from singer Louis Amanti, whose charm echoes classic crooners like Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. Walking among the dining tables, his soulful voice floats through both the restaurant and lounge, setting the perfect mood for a lively yet sophisticated evening.

Sagum has created a raft of new cocktails at Pao that reflect the restaurant’s Asian-inflected gastronomy and gusto for innovation.
“Ingredients like Izumi Judan sake, Korean chili, and yuzu draw on my Asian roots as well as the flavors used by the culinary team at Pao,” said Sagum. “We work together to make sure every product we use is optimized in order to reduce wastage.”
Sagum has been working in hospitality for nearly a decade, where he became invested in learning the art of mixology and the vast history behind every single libation. “I developed a strong passion for cocktails, flavors, and techniques so I could curate unique experiences for guests,” he said.
Crafted with Pao’s menu in mind, Sagum recommends ordering an “Up to Yu,” a riff on a pisco sour, to complement the short rib, or shiso tacos. “The citric notes cut through the fat of the protein to enhance

The “El Smoked Fili” featuring Suntory Toki whisky, yellow, chartreuse, and toasted pineapple syrup really brings out the unique labne freshness and smoked hickory wood flavors of Pao’s cucumber salad,” he adds. For Pao’s signature fried chicken dish, Sagum suggests ordering the “Chee Hi” whose base includes a Jasmine-infused vodka with lychee water and hibiscus.

However, the biggest crowd pleaser, Sagum notes, has been the “Agave Seoul” cocktail. “Miami is a market that enjoys tequila very much,” he said. The cocktail mixes Codigo Reposado, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, and Ancho Reyes with Korean chili and watermelon syrup to balance the agave flavors.
“We’ve added a unique twist to our ceviche by incorporating Japanese purple sweet potatoes from Okinawa, which is known for being one of the world’s Blue Zones,” said Omakase Chef Erik Melendez. “The residents of Okinawa often live to 100 years old, and their diet—rich in these sweet potatoes—is a big reason for their longevity. This superfood brings a delicious balance of sweetness and earthiness to our ceviche.”
Epicures will also find an autumn-inspired butternut squash and traditional miso soup packed with seasonal warmth and Japanese umami flavors.
“We’re thrilled to be using freshly sourced yuzu and sudachi, whose short season just started in Japan,” he said. Melendez utilizes these citrus fruits as a central element in his cooking including yuzukosho (a citrus chili paste) and Tachiuo (a seasonal Japanese belt fish), which is prepared with freshly squeezed yuzu juice. Channel Rockfish, a rare, highly sought-after Japanese fish with a fatty, delicate white flesh will appear on the menu while its season lasts. For heartier fare, there’s a new parsnip purée paired with dry-aged duck breast from Quebec. “We’re expanding our dry-aging program to enhance the preservation of our products,” he said. “Not only with meats like duck, but with fish as well.”
This November, Casa Faena will debut its new sustainabilityfocused restaurant, Campo, with a moniker inspired by Alan Faena’s countryside home in South America. The Latin-inspired New American menu is focused on wholesome, health-conscious food and drink that is nourishing, flavorful and delicious.
Inspired by the essence of fresh countryside living and dining, Campo emerges as a beacon of sustainability and culinary artistry. Chef Antonio Maldonado, Campo’s Executive Chef, brings Alan Faena’s philosophy to life, presenting a dining experience rooted in regenerative practices and local, sustainably sourced ingredients. The restaurant’s name, “Campo,” which means “field”
or “countryside” in Spanish, is a tribute to Faena’s connection to the land and love for nature’s bounty, transforming this space into a sanctuary of taste that celebrates the environment and the surrounding community.
Chef Antonio meticulously sources ingredients from nearby farms like Hammock Green and ethical protein producers such as Bell & Evans, Creekstone Farms,
and Snake River Farms. This commitment extends to sustainable seafood practices as well, working with farms like Salmon Atlantic Sapphire, whose eco-friendly approach aligns with Campo’s ethos.
Chef Antonio’s creations embrace the colorful, bold notes of New American cuisine with a Latin twist, drawing inspiration from his travels and Mexican heritage. His vibrant plates, like the Gratitude Mushroom
Tlacoyo and bone marrow ramen with shiitake dashi and salsa macha, reflect his personal culinary journey while honoring the land’s integrity. Aiming for the Michelin Green Star, Campo’s blend of sustainable practices and culinary mastery offers a distinct experience, intertwining Faena’s love for the countryside with Chef Antonio’s passion for crafting food that feeds the soul.
A Ball on the Beach
Faena Miami Beach is renowned for transforming New Year’s Eve into an unforgettable spectacle of glamour, decadence, and celebration. Each year, Faena elevates the holiday season with a lavish party with an avant-garde twist, making it one of the most sought-after destinations to ring in the New Year.
“Parties at Faena are especially fun because they are full of nonstop surprises,” said Rafael Olarra, Faena’s Creative Director. “They’re very immersive with something different happening around every corner.” This year’s Beach Ball theme will see a giant seashell in the Cathedral lobby and oversized flamingos and seahorses, as well as large papermâché ocean waves crafted in-house by Faena’s team of designers.
Gourmands are not at a loss for options. Pao’s five-course menu includes a range of delicious amuse-bouche bites, an appetizer of aged toro confit with Wagyu bone marrow vinaigrette, fresh wasabi and crispy quinoa. A choice of entrees includes roasted swordfish with wild mushrooms and curried tom kha sauce or aged agave Wagyu prime rib with truffle jus and Osettra caviar cream. Dishes at Los Fuegos are just as decadent with black truffle and ricotta ravioli; halibut confit with marcona almond cream, white truffle, herb oil, and a side fennel
salad; and wood-fired Wagyu tenderloin with crispy potatoes and a Jerusalem artichoke puree. There’s also a gourmet vegan option with portobello carpaccio, smoked beets, and wood-fired celery root steak. Guests of El Secreto will dine on an elevated multi-course omakase menu with fresh fish flown in from Tokyo, truffles, and Caviar at the speakeasy six-seat restaurant.
Live music and festivities will extend across the property, with guests toasting at the legendary Living Room lounge, outdoor Tree of Life bar, the Saxony Bar, and Tierra Santa’s private balcony. All guests have access to Faena’s New Year’s Eve countdown and firework spectacle in the Mammoth Garden. “It’s going to be pretty spectacular,” said Olarra.

The Faena Questionnaire Tony Kelly
Our rendition of the Proust Questionnaire is our unique take on the famous parlor game that gained popularity, although it was not originally created, by Marcel Proust, the renowned French essayist and novelist. Proust held the belief that by responding to these questions, individuals unveil their genuine essence.
Fine art photographer Tony Kelly, known for his highly polished, playfully subversive images, has his lens fixed on his latest muse, Faena Miami Beach, to shoot his new photobook. At first blush, Kelly was immediately struck by the poetry of Alan Faena’s living work of art.
“When I walked into the hotel for the very first time all my senses were stimulated—from the grand cathedral entrance to the smell to the breeze in the courtyard to the live music playing in The Living Room. It was like an endless massage of the senses and the soul,” muses Kelly. Every step of the way feels like a
journey unfolding, shares the Dublinborn, Los Angeles-based artist, and the journey is propelled by the winds of live music that carry you from the beach to the garden to the bar.” This place is run by an artist, and you can feel it.” Once on property, Kelly rarely finds himself with an excuse to leave. “It has the highest level of service,”
he says, “and everything works in perfect harmony.” The collaborative book is a natural extension of Faena and Kelly’s shared aesthetic. “My color palette is here, my musical taste is here; it all feels very organic,” explains the photographer. “Alan pays attention to every detail. That is what I respect. That is what inspires me.”
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A day with lifelong friends in Ireland on the golf course at Royal Dublin GC.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Cashmere winter jackets and coats. Buying them has become something of a pastime!
Which living person do you most despise?
No one in particular. I would say I feel uncomfortable to see people putting tattoos on their faces.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
I am quite peaceful and happy with oneself.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My wife Johanna and my work followed closely by golf and Alpine adventures.
When and where were you happiest?
Always happy in the living room on Saturday evening with some friends watching my dear buddy Louis Amanti sing Sinatra.
What is your favorite occupation? Mine.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Temperance followed by Beauty.
On what occasion do you lie? Never, it’s a principle I live by.
What do you dislike most about your appearance?
I am good with that. Which talent would you most like to have?
The skill to play piano at concert level.
Which living person do you most admire?
The guys and girls who wait tables, the porters, the people who turn the wheels in the world of luxury hospitality. They are the ones who put a smile on our faces.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Bullshitters. I have zero time.
What is your favorite journey?
The trail from Paradiso Club St Moritz down to the village. When there is enough snow, we can cruise all the way down the road.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Fxxk. Pretty standard in Ireland.
What is your greatest regret?
I only have one single regret and that’s not to have seems Sinatra live in concert.
What is your current state of mind?
Focused. I will embark on a two-days shoot tomorrow that will require my fullest attention.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I am peaceful as I am. Who is your favorite hero of fiction? None.
How would you like to die?
Loving.
If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be? They could be here each weekend in Miami for golf.

Creating and building a body of work that is instantly recognizable and puts a smile on people’s faces.
What is it that you most dislike? Bullshit.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? That’s nonsense.
What is your most treasured possession? My G wagon Cabrio.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Wool sweaters that irritate your skin, prickly wool.
Where would you like to live? Miami as I do. It’s the finest place to live.

Determination.

Loyalty and banter.
